That last point about using your calves instead of wanting to slide really helped me realize what I’ve been doing wrong for a while now. I thank you, and so does my band, even if they don’t know it right now. Ha!
"They came from the land of the ice and snow..." Sorry, couldn't resist. Great video! Missed your videos. ;)
Haha, thanks Michel!
You’re the best bro
It was the video i needed to improve my kick
Thank you Sir 🙏🎵❤️
…many Thx for the great hints and tipps! Greetings from good old Germany; Chris!
Another incredible lesson by Jeff! These may seem simple, but if you do it on a daily basis, your grooves and the speed and precision of your drum bass will increase significativally!
It seems like you know exactly what people need to improve, top pedagogy, simple and straight to the point (with score in real time). Thank you very much for your videos..
I love this as always, thank you Jeff!
Per usual -- great reminders, and fresh examples. Thanks, Jeff!
Great video once again - keep them coming Jeff. You’re precision and timing is impressive.
Thanks so much bud. Nice and useful info. 🥁👍🏽🥁🔥
That exercise 4 is a beast! All fantastic and helpful.. Thanks Jeff! 💪
Thanks Jeff for the breakdown on foot technique motions. Really helps map out the motions.
Fantastic.Thanks Jeff.👍
Many thanks, Jeff! Perfect stuff. Please add some triplet exercises for foot if you make continuation of the lesson.
I love it when the beater comes back and blasts me right in the shin 🙂 thanks for the video! I might run these in a loop as a discipline exercise
yohooo..i loved your exercises..thank you
This is what i need man thanks
Beautiful exercises and good presentation, Jeff!
Thanks Tim!
Very good
Hey I’m not a avad drummer I can play stuff but I like your teaching I’ve learned from you. Thanks trimimdously for you vids your great keep rocking.
Great ❤️ 🙏🎵
Nice foot workout 💪 👌
Great exercises man, return to the basics!! The intro beat remind me Immigrant Song kinda thing. It would be mind blowing that you cover DAZED AND CONFUSED. Bonzo goes crazy and so clean!
PS: In my opinion you had one of the cleanest technique drum guys on YT. xx
You are such a great instructor thank you so much for your professionalism
Thanks again man this is cool and easy to learn.
For sure! Hope it helps yah out.
Sick
Nice.
Your Kick drum beater hits right in the middle?
Love your Drumsound in general!
✌️
Useful, especially for beginners!
Absolutely!
Nice! This is what i was waiting for :) i really need to improve my foot technique. I am gonne give it a try. Greets from Germany
Do work dude!
I like it!
I wondered when being a pajama drummer would catch up to me. I am now going to need to wear shoes instead of just socks but this explains a lot about that little funky double kick I struggle to accomplish.
Good shit Maynard, good shit….
love u dude u r awesome
Thanks bud!
🔥
Man, I'm glad you posted this!. After back surgery I lost all power in my foot, and it destroyed my playing. Ankle weights help. Anyway, ALL your videos have helped me start moving forward again. Thank you!
I love hearing that bud! Do work!
@@JeffRandallDrumming 1 year later, I'm still warming up to this exercise, and my foot is working much better. I was seriously days away from quitting. I can't thank you enough
Exercise 1 was Billie Jean! All of a sudden I'm loving the bass drum, usually I'm all about watching your snare hits. Now I don't know which Cam I want anymore on your videos arghhhhh
Hey is there a way you prefer the pedal setup and does it help?
Hey Jeff! Great video! Can you give specs of your kick, tension of your pedal/kick head? Is there anything inside your kick drum? How does that play into using techniques on pedals or kick drums you are not familiar with? Thanks!
Hey Timmy, for sure. My pedal tension is on the loose side but I keep everything else with the pedal stock. My kick is a 22x16 and muffled with some blankets.
My technique doesn't change when I move to other pedals/bass drums. I just rely on those different variations of the heel-up technique that I went through in the previous video. If the bass drum isn't muffled then I won't bury the beater. If it's a larger kick than I'll have to use a bit more muscle. But overall it's always the same approach!
Would the rebound be the same with an electronic bass drum??
hello Jeff I make nice double with slide technic but..I have trouble when I try to make two doubles in a row. my calf have difficulty to go back and initiate the slide...is it just practicing or do I have to think to move my calf backward..thanks for the advice..
Are the loops available for Patreon supporters speed adjustable?
Hello Jeff, Just found you on You Tube, and absolutely lovin these video's. I have been doing the slide tech. a while now, and not to brag, but not having a problem with these exercises at higher BPMs, with both feet, ( have a double bass kit ).
My question is, when you do your courses, are they on Zoom, or are we chatting back and forth? Never did live Courses before.
Thank you, Ward L.
Hey Ward! That’s my dad’s name. Awesome. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, the online lessons are live on Zoom. They’re a ton of fun. I can send you pdf’s and materials throughout the lesson and I’ve got a nice little setup with an electric kit and microphone. Shoot me an email at jeffrandallmusic@icloud.com if you’re interested. Would love to work with yah!
Release the batter each time you hit the bass drum
Are you playing the DW 5000 Turbo? Kick is 22"?
I’m having trouble with rlkk. I know slide technique but I can never hit the first kick. I try to tap but my muscles don’t agree and ultimately just slide across the pedal and only do the second kick.
Full spring tension 👀..?
Great grooves to build up technique, Jeff! You got any technique tips of triple bass drums? A double slide? Struggling with these at the mo
Hey Simon. In all honestly, getting fast triples on the kick isn't really something I'm concerned with since it comes up so rarely out on gigs. For that reason I don't practice it all that much.
Hey Jeff I was working on the slide technique slow, and found my right hip and quad tightening up and the right side of my body almost coming off the seat even when trying to relax. This is obviously bad technique; any suggestions?
Hm... It’s tough to say without seeing what’s happening. If you’ve got the time, feel free to shoot me an email with a video clip of your approach. I’d be happy to look at it and get back to yah. (jeffrandallmusic@icloud.com)
What if you have to play more than two quick notes in a row?
Jeff Randall... Try these on a 24" or 26" kick... Not so easy.. What are you playing an 18" kick?
love you jeff is it possible i could get a lesson with you or get some tips that i would like from you via email or text
Sure thing! Go to jeffrandallmusic.com to send me an email.
As A bass player now learning drums, I really hate busy kik drums and consider them as unnecessary over playing that just wreck and grove. Less kik is best and showing off is just a pain to play bass with.
