GE SINGLE STAGE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM INSTALLATION - Навчання та стиль
highly recommend this purchase
That trap system for the disposal and sink is a piece of art, looks like every plumber assigned to this kitchen signed his work.
that did belong in the plumbers hall of shame! lol
@@ChuckBarron I agree.
It appears AB1 was mocking the "good morning youtube" 😄
I say with those type antics, time for a van cleaning 😂
thats right.....give me 50 and go dig that ditch
😆
I've got a basket like that under my sink and you can pull basket out and lift up at the end to free basket from rail. Just in case you have to work there again.
Thank you for video I am installing the same filter but I bought mine a year ago and can't find instructions, this video was very helpful...I'm going to pack it away for another year.
nice. thanks
Good job on the filter. Surprised the guy hasn't complained about the sink not draining well. That trap is scary! Lol
thats the long abs trap invention....lol.
"Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Plumbers" :-). You guys earn every penny!
Yes Yes....thank you
I don't think you're doing anything wrong CB, he should have a separate faucet dedicated to the filter right next to the main faucet for general use. 👍
ya it was a pain in da arssss
I just got the GE single stage drinking water filtration system with filtration controller GXK185KBL. How do I know when it is on filtered water?
for filters if they have an open basement underneath, that's where I put them, low ceiling hang them there, if not wall mount, better yet over top the laundry tub.
many of the older homes actually had kitchen over-top laundry area, which was also the mechanical area, go figure! having all the noisy, fuel/electric gobbling junk "nearest" the service entrances!
ya I don't do filters at all but this gent was 90 and I put a new faucet in and he asked me....sure no problem....NOT!
You try to give the video more brightness it will be great if you do
thanks Rae
bad choice of filter/cartridge, the old was mainly a rust/sediment filter to catch larger particulate, the second smaller filter was "activated charcoal type" (very flow restrictive) at cabinet back for drinking/instant hot water/ice maker. couldn't tell what they had it feeding exactly.
many times you can simply change cartridge type and use the same housing, check the box closely next time, they list the max flow rates in GPM at X pressure and sometimes list the different cartridges and flow rates. looked like they didn't have much water pressure to start with.
there's lots of well water around here, tons of filters and purification systems, even many of the city/community well supplied areas need filtering still :)
bad choice on whole deal.....me and owner were on different pages...I thought he said change filter and he meant cartridge....we got er done but it was a headache. ya our water system is good here too. I for sure did not read the flow rate because you should of seen the flow restrictor in this joker. lesson learned.
Just found your channel nice!...is pressure an issue in your area? I use the quick connects, as our area is 65lbs. And, is that waste "kosher" in your area?
Awesome! Where ya from? No pressure is great. The filter had a flow restrictor designed in it cartridge. The drain took the long way home for sure. I'd have to look up code on trap. Im drawing a blank right now.
@ 8:38 clunk "cling clang" goes the falling screw, never fails. if you're like me, you'll do that about 8 more times per screw :))
follow that with the fridge trying to fill ice maker or whatever was on the line that started whizzing...
then boink goes the head on the disposal looking for the screw I just dropped...never fails..lol
I just installed one of those in my basement over the washing machine because yep when it leaks in the future which it probably will youre gonna have a hell of time fixing the leak also when its time to replace the filter, if not screwed in good the water is going to skeet all over the place if the Water is not turned off , I 1st instaled it under my water leaked from different spots stopped all the leaks and the water leaked from the part that the filter goes in , to save myself a headache uninstalled it put it in the basement for easier access.. why did it take two of yall ? I did mines in 15 minutes by myself once I figured out all the pieces I needed bought from Home Depot, if thats all you do all day thats a sweat job
Everyday Plumbing for sure.
what kind of compression fitting did u use to connect the blue plastic hose to the water filter?
IP x compression.
@@ChuckBarron I had the exact same job 2 days ago and your advice/video was dead solid perfect-I did the exact same thing and it worked perfectly....Thank you so much
Chuck, what was up with the 1 1/2" ABS drain? Maybe it was a bad camera angle, but it looked a mess.
lol.....water ride for sure.....no it was a super trap. lol
lmao, a second job at the "super trap" :)))
whew...thought I was going nuts when I saw it.
What is the size of the brass fittings for the filter. I can't seem to find the right size I need and I keep buying the wrong fitting. ☠️
generally 3/8 ip x 3/8 compression. check on unit to make sure.
The electrical outlet at the bottom corner of the sink cabinet is a terrible spot. Its not even a GFCI near a water source. Waiting for something bad to happen with every water source nearby.
I hate working in tight awkward spaces like that. It always makes a job take three times as long as it would with decent access.
ya....that draw. oh lord I wanted to rip it out.
CB-1 I am baffled why you lost all that pressure because of that filter. I was wondering did you open up the GE filter and inspect it is there plastic around the new filter. I'm just guessing. Good luck with that one peace brother
I did check all that out....in the end the filter had flow restrictor cartridge....waste of time. It was for my 90+ year old customer..this guy is a god...still goes to work.
some of them only flow enough for a "drinking glass filler spout" those are most always the "carbon activated" and "membrane" filters you have to watch what the box says for flow rates. many will hold different cartridges and the wrong one will kill the flow. changing to a basic paper/string/poly filter cartridge would increase the flow, but obviously not filter as "pure" as the charcoal ones. they'd need 2 two 3 larger filters to keep the flow up for that type of filtering :)
shouldn't use pipe dope on drinking water
good point.
Those fittings on the filter don't come with it. My problem right off the bat was that my faucet has built in supply lines
Yes I had to adapt to what was there.
cb thats why i dont do water filters, wasnt your fault
first and last filter...lol
obnoxious music........can not stand it!!!!!!!!!!!
OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Terrible video for a person trying to actually LEARN HOW TO DO THIS INSTALL, fittings covered, or completely off camera, no real explanation of what to do in relation to plastic to metal fittings-it's mental
