Hey Everyone. Thanks for watching. IMPORTANT. In this video I had installed the intake and return water line backwards. I discovered this after filming the video. So keep this in mind if you are using this as a guide for installing yours.

You really need to add this information to the beginning of the video. I installed this unit in my home yesterday and was just browsing through videos and watched your install. I almost had a heart attack thinking my install was backwards and panicked thinking I'd have resin running throughout the entire house plumbing. Not cool my friend.

There is 17.1 ppm in 1 “grain”. When you were doing your calculation you should’ve done 250 ppm / 17.1 = 14.6 grains per gallon. 14.6 gpg x 160 gallons per day = 2336 per day x 7 days between regen cycles = ~ 16500 grain capacity, round up to a 20,000 grain unit. So you actually bought a unit big enough for 4+ people to live there.
But hey now you only have to regen about once every 2 weeks. Better to have more capacity than less!

Just a word of warning when screwing into masonry, I would avoid use of any impact drivers as you can blow out the threads your concrete screws are creating in the block as they go in, and wind up with a stripped hole.

I need to see the gluing of the 2nd CPVC slip to MPT adapter between the filters. When the short CPVC nipple was glued into the first adapter, it appeared there was no primer nor glue used on the CPVC. Also - the quarter turn on any gluing needs to be done AS the plastic pipe is slipped into the adapter NOT AFTER it bottoms out. Still can't figure out how the 2nd filter was glued in with the bracket in placez

I wish I would have seen your video sooner.... We started with just a water softener and with in a few months we noticed the only water anyone was drinking was from the filtered fridge. I purchased two GE filters like yours and purchased 1 large string wound sediment and 1 for more fine sediment. I was told buy the company I purchased the water softener from to put the large sediment filter first, then the water softener, and then the fine filter. This has caused all of our fixtures to now have a film all over them... also added cost as I purchased more 90 degree shark bite clamps to get this thing run. I am about to rip the entire thing out and start over..... your thoughts please?

I ran a hardness test with a device that I bought off amazon and it ran at 677 ppm yikes!! The warmer the water the higher the number would go

The manual says something about rinsing carbon tailings? But doesn't explain how to do. I didn't see you do that

Hey man sorry for the dumb comment, but I had a plumber install my water softer same model and everything. Whenever It’s recharging all the water goes to the drain? Is that supposed to happen? If not I already flipped the in/out water lines and it’s still doing the same thing. Please help lol

When the unit re-generates, it does send all of the brine water to the drain. Not sure why you swapped your inlet and outlet? Probably need to check that and put it back like the plumber had it for you!

Good question. I bought an A.O. Smith unit. No where in the manual does it tell you how to set the Softness Level.
My water tested at 7 GPG. The help line told me to set it at 7 but doesnt seem right. Still researching

Jack of All Master of None I got him down to that price. The mfr originally said $4900. This is why I appreciate you and other tutorial vids on utube here. It’s not about putting the tradesmen or contractor out of business. It’s about being tired of getting ripped off. I’ll just have to tackle the job myself.

You made a calculation error. You should have multiplied by GPG, not PPM, to get your daily usage. A 40,000 grain unit is more than sufficient for 2 people.
