    just bought it thru your link, thanks Ben ... I installed this system 2 months ago, checking it regularly. Today it dropped to 24ppm from 32ppm last month and 40ppm at installation with nearly 1:1 waste water production using 400+ppm tap water-very satisfied!!

    A very good easy simple video to follow. For those folks which connect the drain pipe into a waste pipe with the saddle provided it is very important not to over insert it into the drain pipe so that it becomes an obstruction and may cause future blockages. It should just enter flush past the entry edge of the waste pipe.

    i like the way you set this R.O. equipment, i am new to this kind of setting it up. Las Vegas water is very dirty when you boil a gallon of water & reduce it to almost to a cup, the water turns to a mud light brown sugar in color so i have to install additional water filter connected to the water softener then the R.O. your video is very informative, i asked the salesman of Home Depot how to install it but seems like he is new to his job mind as well consult it to your knowledge video, thanks you for sharing,..

      Cesar, it is important to know that if you are boiling water, the only thing you are removing.... is water and some biologicals, other than that, you are removing (evaporating) water and condensing your ppm of particulates and heavy metals.... (which is making dirtier water) unless of course you are doing a de-salinating method and collecting and condensing the steam from the water you are boiling ...

    Thanks for the great video. Can I ask how much it costs to maintain this system...such as replacement filters and such? Also, does it remove lead? I would like to get one of these, but Im not sure which one to get. I am hooked up to city water that's pretty good on its own, but I just don't trust it. Plus the lead level results were barely in the normal range. I also don't want it to add stuff to the water, like salts and calcium and stuff. That just seems weird. Id greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance.

    Thank you. Great video. I too plan to use an iSpring RO system with a basement install. A pro installer suggested that using a 1/4" line out to feed the faucet from a basement install would result insufficient flow. He suggests using 3/8" instead. Two questions: 1) How is the flow from your faucet with the tank set in the basement? 2) If your flow rate was insufficient, how did you fix it?

    • @BenjaminSahlstrom
      @BenjaminSahlstrom  6 років тому

      Katherine Danner Sorry for the slow response. I just now say your comment. Yes, that's exactly what I did. I have 3/8" OD tubing which is called 1/4" PEX that rund from the basement to each point of use for the RO system and the flow rate is even better than expected. Definitely worth installing the slightly larger line. 👍

  • @crisgovea9899
    @crisgovea9899 3 роки тому

    Hey Ben, 1 question for you, is there a reason for you to not use 1/4 pipes all the way to your sink/fridge? Why did you stick with 3/8? Was it because all your piping was 3/8 already or is there a better flow with 3/8 regardless of the source being 1/4?

    If you mount the storage tank at the ceiling you will gain water pressure. The storage tank is pre charged with 8-10 psi and for every 28” of water column you have to push the water up you will lose 1 psi. So if you have an 8 foot ceiling and mount the tank on the floor you will lose approximately 4 psi of pressure just to push the water up to the ceiling.

I thought the 1/4" suppose to come out from post carbon and not from the 3rd stage :(

    • @msalavea
      @msalavea 5 років тому

      With the extra pump on his system it is viable to run a line 40' no problem, I have this system but with the UV chamber, and when it was in my washroom I had to also have the pump, now that i put it under the sink, the pump is over-kill

    • @BrokeWillSmith
      @BrokeWillSmith 5 років тому

      You will loose pressure the further away you mount your faucet. Consider a larger bladder tank or adding a booster pump like the one shown should do the trick. This might also happen if you add a run to your fridge. If your fridge also has a filter and you install it you will again loose pressure. Just don't use the fridge filter.

      He does have a video of the other system, you dont need the other filter to get the RO filter working, and no the I-spring wasnt made to be a whole house system, but it still can be, make sure you are getting the one rated for the daily water output you are going for, some are only rated for 40 gallons a day, his is rated for 100 gpd... hope that helped

    • @Nick-jr9pc
      @Nick-jr9pc 5 років тому +1

      Its likely to extend the life of the RO filter and reduce the time it takes to filter. If the RO was filtering the tap water which has alot of large particles/contaminants and such it would in a way clog the RO filter and end up taking a long to time to filter.

      A Reverse Osmosis system only produces a trickle of water on demand because of the filtration process.. Using a Storage tank allows you to collect a certain amount of water until you need to fill a glass or canister of water.

      Smaller RO Bladder tanks, like this one, fill partially with water from the top. Larger ones have the water on the bottom. A Butyl (rubber) diaphragm separates the water section. Then the bottom of the tank is filled with air to 7psi (through the Schroeder valve) when the tank is empty of water. It will measure around 35 - 40psi when the tank is full of water. This pressurizes the tank so when the tap is opened water will flow freely out of your connected faucet or to a connected Ice maker or fish tank. Over time the tank will loose pressure. So occasionally when cleaning out your RO system after draining the tank of it's water, check the Schroeder valve to insure it has 7 psi of pressure. This is the valve at the bottom section of the tank like a bicycle or car tire. It will probably be covered with a blue cap just under the water tank label.
