  • How I use stretching with TRX straps to recover, prevent immobility from sitting at a desk, and improve mobility to stay active for years to come. I try to workout every day, then I sit at a desk for 5-8 hours each day. I use these stretches to help me recover from the various activities I do and overcome the effects of sitting for long periods each day.

Great video! As a road marathoner for the past 5 years, I'm always looking for new tips on motivation, getting stronger and preventing dreaded injuries. Yoga and flexibility workouts seem like a great solution. This post is very inspirational. As a fellow UA-camr, I love sharing my experiences and knowledge as well. I know how much goes into these videos! Keep posting - I just subscribed!

Love the straps I never knew those existed! If you ever get a chance to take some yoga classes I highly recommend it even once a week to add another dimension to your fitness and flexibility. My favorite yoga teacher always says "we don't do yoga BECAUSE we are flexible, we do yoga to BECOME flexible." And if you want a crazy awesome workout and stretch hot yoga is phenomenal. You can stretch into places you never even knew you had because the warm room opens your muscles up even more and they stay warm for an hour. Its the thing I miss most about quarantine.

Can’t wait to try these because I found that as I get older I need to stretch or I have tightness and pain.

I love my TRX bands! I’ve been using them regularly for almost 3 years. When our local college rec center closed, I bought my own so I could continue. It’s such a simple piece of exercise equipment but so functional. It helps stretch my lower back injury with what I call the golf swing move. I use mine for stretching, upper, lower, and core/ab workouts.

Learned a lot of new to me stretches that look like they would be great. I dont have a trx system yet, but will keep these in mind for when I do.

I find I have to do 20 minutes of super intentional stretching each day to stay mobile and not overly sore.

If you say that you are inflexible. . . .then I must definitely be made of metal or something. . . I started feeling the stretches while sitting on my couch just watching. . . might need to consider adding these to my routine. . . .

Dave because of the upper strength and flexibility Christine has, she might have to do some of the TRX stretches at a slightly different angle to you. You are flexible but you also have more bulk muscle so you dont have to move as far to get a stretch on. If that makes sense.

Hi love what you’re doing with this channel, but could I ask you would you consider showing a very mild group of exercises I could do in a chair as I’m disabled from hips down, but would just like to get more movement in my upper body,I am 50 n don’t do anything n am fed up with being unfit n immobile xx💖xx

In general, Google sit fit chair (all 3 words together, no quotes) & you can probably find some free routines online. Some things that I specifically know about:
Sit and be Fit is a PBS show with chair exercise done by a nurse that specializes in rehab exercise. It's also available on DVD.
T-Tapp (yes, it's tapp, not tap) has a rehab routine.
Body Grove shows ways to adapt the movements to being in a chair. Lots of free videos on the Body Grove UA-cam channel, or buy DVDs or subscription streaming.
If you can stand & walk a Gazelle Glider is very easy to use & you can move at whatever speed you need to, start at as short of a time as you need to & slowly go a little faster & add time. They're usually easy to find used on Craigslist. Just check to be sure the model you get has the right weight limit (different models weight limit are 250-350 pounds IIRC) if you're heavier.
Me personally, I'm in my 50s, out of shape, overweight, with fibro & limited mobility & I just got a Gazelle again on Craigslist after not having one for years. I may have to start with really short times but I'm determined to get in more movement & get in better shape. I'm thinking about getting Body Grove DVDs as well.
Best wishes & I hope the info helps.

What is the TRX attached too?

I attach mine to the main garage door bar that is anchored to the wall. They make anchor systems that can be mounted almost anywhere: amzn.to/30IscxQ

I placed mine right next to the support brackets and was able to have it support my full weight. Most of the time you rarely load the straps above 60% of your body weight.

You might want to edit the video & specify where you're hanging the straps from bc I watched that part multiple times & thought you used the door handle which would NOT be safe & I was about to post a warning. Glad to find out I was wrong about where you hooked it to.
