This is great, glad it inspired you. I have a couple of TRX follow along workouts you can try too if it helps, in my playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLf9i8qFtMBBK1VBEA-IlSw7VrXxrvxHUF.html
Piggybacking off of @AnneDougherty yours is the first video that I've seen demonstrating the "play" where the straps connect to the carabiner, how you need to keep the tension the same on them. I kept looking at it wondering if it was REALLY intended to have that play in it and your video made it clear that this is how it is.
Awesome! It's a great bit of kit. I've done a couple of workout videos with them if that interests you here: ua-cam.com/video/6J1besHI9As/v-deo.html and here: ua-cam.com/video/ipS7Ymw0kbQ/v-deo.html
I just purchased a TRX and your video is excellent! Better than the videos actually done by TRX. Very thorough and simple to understand! I also appreciate the tips, so that I know I'm using it properly with good form. Thank you so much for making this video!
That's brilliant thank you. I've done a follow along workout using the TRX here: ua-cam.com/video/6J1besHI9As/v-deo.html and have another follow up one (more intermediate) planned in a few weeks time
I have a video on YT which focused on seniors. I watched yours and enjoyed it and find it is a good safe way to workout on TRX. With squats they teach having arms bent not arms straight because it takes weight off the knees and quads. Because I have people with bad knees that is exactly what I wanted so I have them perform with straight arms. You reminded me of reverse lunges and hip hinge so always good to watch other trainers as reminders. I use bands also so TRX is just one tool for me. Thanks so much!!
I am new to TRX training and have found this video so helpful. I'm trying to master the exercises here before moving on to more and your form and guidance is superior to anything else I've found online. Thank you very much!
You did a very good job at explaining what to do and most important what you should not be doing while performing the exercise routines. Thanks for doing this video on TRX suspension training indoors at home.
Thank you. If you want some follow along workouts using the TRX, check out the playlist and scroll down a bit for 3 of them here: ua-cam.com/play/PLf9i8qFtMBBK1VBEA-IlSw7VrXxrvxHUF.html
Much thanks …. Since lockdown I’ve become very sedentary, and getting leg pain, I’ve recently noticed that since doing more walking, the pain has dissipated a little. Prior to taking early retirement, 7 years ago! I was very active and in a very active job, went to the gym 3/4 times a week too. I took up kettlebell training at home, and purchased a non TRX suspension trainer. But sadly both have been gathering dust, so your video has encouraged me to restart my training, albeit in a reduced and slow/light manner. Fingers crossed. Thanks 🙏 Steve, Bristol, U.K.
Awesome, well done Steve that's great. I've also done a couple of follow along TRX workouts on the channel. You can find them in the playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLf9i8qFtMBBK1VBEA-IlSw7VrXxrvxHUF.html
You're welcome. I've got 3 follow along TRX workouts too if that helps you in the playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLf9i8qFtMBBK1VBEA-IlSw7VrXxrvxHUF.html
Decathlon do a knock-off TRX system for only twenty quid which seems to perform perfectly well for a beginner like me. I've generally found their sports equipment to be very good value.
Had an accident with another piece of equipment, similar to TRX. The door was pried open, and the thing flew straight into my eye. I was lucky and was only badly bruised superficially, but I was very close to losing my eye. Been afraid ever since to use the door as an anchor to these sorts of exercises. Using TRX strapped to a bar in the park seems like the way to go for me, lol.
This is so helpful. I'm going to try this at the gym and see how I like it. Is it safe for any door? I learned the doors in my house are hollow, will that be sturdy enough? I'm a large person right now, I haven't looked to see if there's a weight/pressure rating.
My door I'm using is also hollow. I weigh around 100kg and the anchor point is behind the door frame at the top. Not sure what the max weight is though? If you want a TRX workout to follow, I've done two videos on that as well in the playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLf9i8qFtMBBK1VBEA-IlSw7VrXxrvxHUF.html
Really excellent video... Thank you! Do you think the TRX would be sufficiently anchored if I attach it to a large eye bolt that was screwed into a wooden stud in the ceiling? I'm 5'10 and weigh 160 pounds (if that makes a difference).
Not sure. When the TRX guys come and fit an X bolt to the walls in the gyms as an anchor point, they have to do a specific test to see if the wall is sturdy enough to take the weight. It's another science that I'm not familiar with!
ty for the video. Nice. But I don't see the value of using TRX when doing squats/reverse lunge. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I can do them without it. I can see the value of TRX when doing the other exercises.
No, you're not doing anything wrong! Many followers of my channel have health conditions (neurological/ musculoskeletal etc) where they can't actually perform a squat or lunge, so using the TRX gives them the confidence to try it or to try going into a deeper range of movement with the exercise. For people without some of these health conditions, they may find it easier, which is why my other TRX videos offer more advanced exercises.
Great video 🙂 one question, with the reverse lunge, is it the rear or front leg that you use to push back to the upright position? ie. which leg is doing the work?
You'll end up using both, but will feel like pushing more off the back foot to bring it forwards again. However depending on how much you put through the straps and where your centre of gravity is, will partly dictate what percentage of your bodyweight is on each foot and how hard each one works.
Just get Olympic rings,a set of Cable machine handles (with carabiners), and a set of Velcro ankle straps (with carabiners) for under $100 With TRX straps and paraphernalia you're just paying for a named package...
You can start with bringing your feet closer together to narrow your base of support, making lateral stability more challenging for your core. Then start taking your feet closer to the anchor point, which will increase the angle you will be able to bend at the hip making it more challenging to maintain a neutral spine.
Thanks! I think there are cheaper versions of a TRX, as many companies have got on the bandwagon. Some may not have the adjustability of the TRX, but they can be great for the basic exercises!
@@ExerciseForHealthBasically a piece of rope and two pieces of pvc pipe from hardware store can make a trx system. A couple of simple knots, like bouline and double hitch will make it adjustable too. Super cheap
The whole time the knees have been at full extension. Blood doesnnot even flow sufficiently at that position. Is say this is a bad thing for anyone that has even mild knee issues.
I bought one 5 years ago. Today I watched your video and finally took it out of the box 😂. Thanks!

Really appreciate your videos. On exercise 5 should one breathe in on way down holding in core muscles and then breathe out on way up? Thanks
Breathe in as your bottom/ hips drop back and then breathe out as you come back upright.

I purchased the hook that mounts into the wall. Does that go just above the door?
I think the wall needs to be tested before fixing as it needs to be strong enough to take a persons body weight, but it should be a solid wall
Is there an advanced stance for the hip/back extension to make it more difficult? Thank you.

Then start taking your feet closer to the anchor point, which will increase the angle you will be able to bend at the hip making it more challenging to maintain a neutral spine.
As usual many thanks.
Fantastic explanations! Have you seen th P3 Pro. Less cost than the TRX and almost as good I think. Maybe it's a cheap copy?

Im scared its going to snap on my. Is the door anchor durable? Im quite heavy
I was a bit worried the first time but the door anchor is great. I weigh 100kg and it supported my weight.
Super

I mostly just use mine for inverted rows.
Nice!

I'm not sure I understand your blood flow query, but this should be OK for people with knee issues. Check with your GP if you're unsure.
