- The goal for Lightfall’s seasons has been set up. Find a way to follow the Witness through the Portal. Osiris has given us a starting point thanks to Root Of Nightmares and we’ve put that plan into motion in these first 2 seasons. Stopping Shadow Legion and learning Savathun needs to be brought back. Today we are going to talk about the remaining two seasons. What we know, the characters and locations involved and much more

Today we discuss Destiny 2 Lightfall's two remaining seasons and speculate on what they might bring! We know Savathun will return, but how? Will Mercury and Io return? With them Brother Vance, The Infinite Forest and parts of Asher Mir? In recent Lore Osiris forgot about (or didn't remember) Brother Vance. The card was titled "Targeted Redaction".. so did Savathun wipe memories of Vance from Osiris? And If so.. Why?
Does anyone else find it interesting that the entrance to the Infinite Forest in retrospect looks suspiciously like the Vex version of whatever portal is on the Traveler right now?
Maybe like the Black Heart was a discount Veil created by the Vex, the Infinite Forest was a discount Traveler Portal, able to simulate worlds but with the fatal flaw of not being able to simulate paracausality?
Also, my bet is that on Io we have to do something with the tree of silver wings and the similar tree inside Root of Nightmares (that, notably, looks like a key) to open that Traveler Portal and follow the Witness. Like maybe they are two halves of a whole, Darkness in a Light tree, and a Light tree in a Darkness vessel.
Maybe the infinite forest was the best attempt to recreate the veil? I have no idea. Maybe that question has already been answered.

@@user-nl5rk1ec3uthe Heart in the Black Garden was “changed” to be the Vex’s failed attempt at recreating The Veil instead of it being just an object of pure Darkness like in D1.
My only gripe about that from Lightfall is now why would the Sol Divisive worship their own creation if they knew it wasn’t paracausal in nature as the Vex still have not replicated paracausality.

Like it became a symbol of their allegiance seeing as it din’t work as intended, although notably it still did affect the traveller not allowing it to heal in D1
Kinda wish we got more of the infinite forest. I always thought they could use it as an activity to fight randomized enemies on generated battlefields. Maybe setup enemies to test builds since we lost the menagerie

Mercury comes back in season 22. The crucible map tells that. Where we help brother Vance and use that to connect with Savathûn and her ghost. S23 it'll be with Asher since it's been hinted that after final shape the Vex is our biggest threat

Willing to bet we won't get Old Mercury just the Lighthouse. They said we were getting Mars back and all we got was the Crafting Hub area and 1 mission.

@@Atraks-1_MILF_Exo when they say we will be getting X planet back everyone's mind goes to the open world. It's their failed verbiage that's the problem. Always is because they try to twist the word because they know the player base won't like the truth
I wonder if the Guardian needs to sacrifice themselves to be resurrected inside the Traveler. Would line up with the Guardian’s future death inside the Infinite Forest. Based on the Unveiling lore book at least (which may still be partially true), the Infinite Forest is kinda like the original Garden (which is almost certainly what is inside the portal)

this might be true and she'll bring one of them back for season 23 or maybe both idk
but now we got titan back and she's dead so it's ethier a lie or a setup she did before she died
I could see Mercury because if we access the infinite forest we can use it to figure out a good way to get what we need to bring back Savathun. Also since the witness already crossed over to the other side of the portal it may not be able to mess with us at Io. That means after bringing back Savathun we may go to Io to find something she hid or sealed there. I doubt she wouldn't have a backup plan for in case the guardians stopped her from taking the traveler and the witness got to the veil, and I don't think she would keep everything in one place either just to make it harder for others to take.
Nice job noticing targeted redaction was tied to deletion of Vance memories. Could be something good there...
My money is on Io, the last place The Traveler was truly chilling before The Collapse, or preparing for what was to come.
Most likely what will happen is is that we will use the infinite forest to find past versions of Savethùn and not only learn how to access through portal but we also be the reason that the she betrays the witness
Didn't she betray the witness because she found out that the witness had tricked them into rejecting the light?
@@MegaTheftVShe only found out about that during the event of Witch Queen, back then the witness literally pulled a "no this happened instead" moment with their minds.

When Asher Mir says "He will become the Truth" I believe he is speaking in reference to The Veil. Hear me out for a second...
When Joxer tried to enter the Veil Portal, he basically experiences/d his past life, current life, and future destruction simultaenously. This incident was recorded only to himself, but dictated to us through the seasonal ship titled Akashic Revelation. The Akasha in theology, is a reoccuring theme in Hinduism and Buddhist beliefs that the Akasha is all that makes up the world, that is to say, it is the information that begets the universal truth. Every action taken, every particle existing, each subdivision of time and space calculated according to the tapestry of this absolute truth. To peer into Akashic records is to lose the sense of self in exchange for absolute knowledge. Knowledge that is completely factual and unbiased because the Akasha is all that was, is, and will be. This is what I think Savathun, Osiris, Asher Mir, and the Vex are searching for in terms of their aspirational goals to uncovering the mysteries of the universe. Savathun understood what deception was and knew what forms absolute truths can take, which ultimately led her to the Veil, which she stole and hid away from malefactors like Nezarec and The Witness. Osiris ran several thousands of calculations in search for the one truest timeline where guardians would conquer over the source of malevolent darkness. Asher Mir hails from the faction of the Genysm order, that is those born of the Distributary, whose life purpose was to comprehend how the Taken and Vex operate on a near similar level (to which we know now that they are basically kindred entities with how they are controlled), and the Vex are looking for the most perfect, ideal timeline where they are the seat of complete, absolute control (to what end, we still haven't found out, and I assume Praedyth might know since that plot thread is still not complete and has not been touched upon for a while). We also have one other agent of truth that we need to discuss, but his motives are not even close to being known. That would be Toland, who gave up his physical form to be able to traverse the planes between realities in search of a solution to the game to which he posits the question: "Tell me, Guardian: Do you trust me? Do you believe I am an ally of the Light or a servant of the Darkness? What if I told you I was neither?"
In the end, the truth is somewhere out in the world, potentially the Veil is the source of all universal knowledge and decides what is culled and reaped and the Traveler is the one who invokes said changes the crop to be what is sown and begins said destinies of that which will be. But to what end? And, who started this game? Are there powers higher than the ones currently at play?

Plot twist , Vex are future guardians that lost connection to the light and darkness because of "deus exmachina" and they are studying it to get it back to save the universe.
It seems like theyre experimenting more with rouge like elements and the sudden mention of the infinite forest makes me think theyll want to have us explore it again but in a more fleshed out way than before.

Next season is about savathun, but I think the season after that will be focused around Mara and Eris mainly cause we just haven’t seen them in a while
Eris and Mara both have a decent knowledge on the hive and the witness so I could see that happening

It be nice to Revisit Mercury and io. But really I really really want to see us go back to Venus baby! We haven't been there since D1 it's time we returned...
And since the taken king has yet to return perhaps we might see a return to the dread knot as well
I think mercury will be next and Io will be last as Io was the last one touched by the traveler
Brother vance never met Osiris so it's very possible he had no idea who he was
I think osiris talks to vance about the seed in the lore, Queen mara gives vance a message, vance tells osiris while he has sagira, so think they've met
@@michaelaj4495 during the dlc campaign I think he told us or alluded to never actually meeting him after we told him we found him in the infinite forest. "You actually met Osiris?" And something about being jealous we met him before he did after that.
Osiris has the situtation of proably knowing Vance's research but not connecting it to vance as he tended to keep to himself (Osiris keeping to himself). They have interacted but with Osiris being fairly isolationist he proably never really made note of Vance.

I think there was lore of them finally meeting in Season of Arrivals. It was brief, but iirc Vance gave Osiris some helpful tidbits of info.
Io return back last season of this expansion. Find whatever lead to enter the portal. The traveler did stop by Io before coming to Earth.

Corridors of time? I remember the Infinite Forest being boring when it launched. I didn't care that the layout was different when it all looked the same, which was abstract and boring. If they had done simulations of previous locates like a Cabal land tank or the Dreadnought I would have been more interested.
I think Io will be the last to come back purely based on the fact that, before Earth, it was the last place the Traveler touched. My theory is that we could possibly use some residual Light-energy as a final ingredient to let us enter the portal.

Io will be back for us to resolve the tree of silver wings. Mercury needs to come back for the forest and the lighthouse. We still have unresolved mysteries.
Im kinda hoping both planets return at the same time because Mercury was so tiny, and another WHOLE season based around JUST Mercury would suck...bad.

Nah I gotta disagree with you, respectfully of course.
I hope that if Mercury returns it’s like the Leviathan was. A whole place to explore, not just some mission based season. Bungie lowkey has to stop doing that. The missions if anything could be the story, like haunted was, or maybe like Joker’s Wild. But the seasonal activity should be more than just a battleground to say.
