These actually are an upgrade. This is a redesigned Genuine Ford part, and while you are in there you should consider the other genuine Ford parts that have been redesigned for a more reliable Variable Cam Timing (VCT) system. The basic idea of the redesigned parts is for smaller oil port orifices to increase oil pressure and lubrication within the VCT system. The VVT solenoids as well as the cam phasers have all been redesigned since these engines were built. I'd add the solenoids at least while you are in there. The phasers and timing set are a bit pricey, but much less so than a failed part in your valve train.... Just make sure that what you get is Factory Ford Performance. I tried an aftermarket VVT solenoid and it never worked right.
Will continuing to drive with the ticking noise caused by these going bad cause engine damage? Or can you just drive it like this with the ticking indefinitely?
you don't have to remove the cams. I have a tool that pulls them without pulling the cam
What tools is it
What about the lifters?
Don't see the reason to press the valve springs if the Cam is coming out?

Bc every damn 2 and 3 valve engine breaks these
4.6 was the worst motor Ford could ever made as far as performance wise stock it sucked
Yet it made more HP than the original 302, 289
