It’s 1:02 am and I don’t even have a mustang....but I do want to install a cam on my non existent Mustang after watching this
You should do that. Dreams are real
I had that dream for a while then it finally came true you should keep dreaming don't give up
It’s been 3 years, did you ever get a mustang?
We legit doing the same exact thing rn
Git er’ done!
Aaaaawwww yuss. I haven't been this excited for an upgrade video since the ITBs for the S2000!
Cameron. Hall c
ITB's on the mullet mustang would be sick.
ITB's on anything is sick honestly
Another great detailed video guys. I'm sure this will help many people!
You guys are great! I feel that I can do my own cam install. Thanks for the encouragement!
Fist bump fail lmao
The content on this channel is top notch. Hope these guys make it big.
Thanks so much, means a lot to us!
you guys deserve soooo much more subscribers and views !!! You have by far my favourite channel since I found it. The best stuff combined with the best humour ;) I love it.
Thank you!!!
Replace lash adjusters and rockers as well at this point 👌
Consistent quality content. Best channel on UA-cam :)
i like the sexy one with the beard!
Only speed academy can get me excited for mustang upgrades keep it coming
Absolutely love this channel you guys deserve way more subscribers
Thanks!
You guys do great work/knowledge with a great attitude 👍🏻👏🏻
I subscribed!
Ive seen curved jaw vice grips used also. It's cringe but has to be done sometimes. Just got some ford performance cams and long tube headers for my 09 S197. Can't wait to do this job. Thanks for this video.
You guys deserve more subs . This is honestly one of the best car channel on youtube right now
THANK YOU!!
Digging this series. Well done.
I have a 05 f150 with the same engine I'm looking to do a cam swap, with this greatly detailed video I feel that I could do it myself 👍🏻
did this on mine but used ford hotrod cams, easy to work on love my 3v 4.6
Enjoying the Mullet Mustang series. Would love to see the same kind of videos, you buy a car and work on it to make it better for track, not just drag. Would love to see you compare the same era cars like 2005 G35 which was a competitor to this.
Always enjoy your guys content
When will you guys have an update on this build! Exactly the mods I want to do with my 3v. Looking forward to more great content.
I would absolutely love to see you guys work on a 2000 Lincoln Town Car, make a super cool sleeper build, since it's a Ford Modular V8 it shares many performance parts with the older Mustang V8. Cams, headers, turbo or blower and big meaty tires
man i had to come back and watch this again, I miss this intro! should bring it back for the nostalgia one time
Nice work guys!
The mustang I bought was a half finished project, I put 5.4 cams from a 3 valve truck, and I havent had problems so far. If u want a more mean sound, do it. I didnt have a choice, cause I was on a budget, and I could not find any 4.6 3 valves in the junkyard
Great video!! Keep em coming
Good job guys!! Changed my springs, cams and timing chains on my 2007 GT and it was a badass experience
We certainly dont want to do this again... ever haha
Speed Academy just had a rocker seize up on me and destroyed the cam on the driver side
🤣
@@speedacademy how much preasure did u use for the cylinder?? I'm installing my stage 4 comp cam and having a hard time removing the valve springs.. please help !! Anyone !!
@@mattadams5016 did you ever find out how much pressure to use?
I have said this before we going to see some burnouts?? RWD is made for. Thanks for the videos.
All you have to do is remove the intake rocker that has pressure on it. The cam will not move when removing the phaser...
Damn there's that Tim Horton again lol ... I must come to canada to try out this mans stuff. I thought it was just coffee because my good friend Jeff Thorman Brings his Tim Hortons. Now you said FOOD so I MUST MUST try him out now.
You guys are SO NICE!
If you set the crank at about 12-14 deg from top dead center, you hit a spot in the cam where no valves are under spring pressure (or are all under equal pressure, and when you release the cam pulleys, they wont spin on you, and you don't lose alignment with the crank. Little tips from hard lessons learned.
God Bless you, I'm going to be doing an entire top end rebuild with new timing components and I was wondering if there was a spot where no springs are under pressure.
So is it 12-14 degrees before you hit tdc? Or 12-14 degrees after you hit tdc?
@@BJ-fk9sq when you rotate the crank with valve covers removed, you will see when you hit that sweet spot. No pressure on any of the valves.
@@feellnfroggy ok, thank you!
the more I watch work done on the top of those modular motors the more I like the old pushrod motors. For grip on the cam body when lining up the phaser sprocket try a small piece of leather or Naugahyde in the jaws of the pliers.
Definitely just made my life easier.
Wow great video! I'm gonna subscribe. So why do you think they want you to remove the roller followers before the cam if you cam do it your way and just take them off after the cam is up and out?
Any break in procedure for post install? I've seen comp cam that needed a 15min run in at 2500rpm to properly set and harden the wear surfaces on the cam lobes.
I use pearl necklace drop it down the spark plug hole till I got almost a whole necklace in there..
. and then I slowly roll the piston upward till it pushes on my pearls and my pearls hold my valves in while I make spring seal changes... and it works on all engines..use it on lawn mowers to.....
hello i was wanting to know where did you get your blue hound valve spring compression tool im need one.
does the special tool also stop the tensioner from drawing up the chain bc im surprised it didnt get way too tight
Do you guys have a video with all the new mods including the cam at the drag strip?
I know this is a few years old at this point, but how much psi of air would you guys recommend using in the spark plug socket to keep the valves up? Thank you!
Great video! At 18:21, I can so relate. :-)
Keep it going!!
I did the valve seals on my 1JZ, one of the keeps popped off and fell into the head, i eventually somehow got it but about shit my panties
Poor Man Mods
Dude, your video of you installing your cams helped get the confidence to swap mine out on my MR2. So thank you.
hell yeah! thanks for watching :)
That was the nightmare, you can see we jammed all the holes full of rags to avoid that happening.
17:38 this is how I imagined my mustang sounding after I try to attempt this myself in my garage😂
Hi, I'd like to ask, in the video, that I saw that, you've replaced all the Rocker armrs and lift Adjuster and changing the cams! At the same time. How was it possible ? Please explain me. In advance Thanks you so much . Francesco
Do you think it's worth upgrading a cam for a grand marquis? My only upgrade now is that aluminum intake cover when my plastic one cracked. I plan on switching to dual exhausts but was wondering if I should do a cam swap first? Thanks
i don't have any cars that these guys have but i still watch all the videos as if im about to do the same upgrade lol
lmao me too. it's just entertaining and you learn a lot of technique and proper ways to do these jobs.
What tool did you use to screw into the spark plug hole to hold the valves closed?
It'll be interesting to see what numbers Sasha pulls out of it now.
Does the camshaft have to be flushed with the heads when torquing the caps down?
HOW ARE YOU NOT GUNNA INCLUDE AN EXHAUST CLIP
Sorry, NV was closing so we had to hurry and we thought the dyno video would be ideal to show the exhaust note off
No worries fellas, keep pumping out the good content on that stang.
How much pressure are you putting into the cylinder? Looking to do this
What did you do to prime the engine?
will that intake manifold fit my 00 ford expedition 4.6l 2v ?
I love the his Chanel great stuff
where did you buy the spark plug air hose i cant find one? the ones i am finding are 14 and 18mm i was told the 3v is 16mm help me out if you can thanks
I'd gladly be poster boy for the 'sometimes you have to go bareback' merchandise
stage 3 or 4 gives you that big lope you were mentioning
I have a question my son's 05 was making some valve spring noise and his car died and won't even turn over is there some kind of sensor stopping it from turning over or did it drop a valve and seize maybe?
So you guys work full time for NV now, right? ;) I bet it's really a nice benefit to be able to work in the heated shop, and have a lift too! Great video as always, guys.
Is it ever! We'll be back in the chicken coop soon though, spring and warm weather are almost here.
I wanted to do this on my crown vic police interceptor how will it affect my computer ?
what air tool was used to hold the valves up
Would this be the same for a 99 grand marquis Gs?
YEEESSSSSS FINALLLYYYY!!!!!!
you Canadians sure love some Tim Horton's
How Did you guys prim the engine??i can’t find out anywhere
Where do you guys go for your dyno? Is it somewhere in Hamilton?
Where did you guys get your compressor fitting for the plug hole?
Walmart
A dab of The Right Stuff? I've never heard of that strain, Right Stuff.
I wonder if this can be done on my 02 Explorer 4.6 2v?
Had did you get those lifters to quiet down?
Great vid. A lot of smaller channels finally popping up with great content
Will these engine mods work on the f150 4.6?
Question(s) for you - I gather you used the compressed air because you cant crank the engine (manually) to get the valves up , yes? Does the air hold them all up or did you move the air line? Second - have you seen the Lisle 36200 Valve Keeper Remover and Installer tool ? Wonder if it works on a mustang...watched on a Honda and it was awesome....put this in the youtube search box "replace valve stem seals - with cylinder head on" and tell me what you think...would save folks ALOT of time
Correct, the compressed air is one of the best ways to ensure you dont drop a valve into the motor. It pressures the cylinder and holds the vales up. Never seen that tool in action on a Mustang, it could work but we've always trusted the compressed air method.
Are you not supposed to lockout the phasers on those cans I have Cam cams first stage and I had the lockout the phasers and it made 350 rear wheel horsepower along with the motion plates delete system
Great video! I'll definitely to this in the future! What happens if you join???
Was there a need to limit the phazer
That sound on first start was scary!!
good stuff
Is the compressed air into the engine to keep the valve from dropping into the cylinder?
Gear1993Head xxx correct
Where is a good place to get a good deal for valve train upgrades for camd
How long does it take to do this job?
Where did you get your valve spring too lol from?
Can I do this to my 08 crown victoria?
Can i still smog my car if i use these cams? 🤔
Was there a break in period that you had to do that you did not show us? I only ask because there was one for the cams I put in my MR2.
No, hydralic lifters and lash adjusters mean no break in. Start up and go.
What did y’all use to raise the valves
Are cams really worth it? I am skeptical on them
Hey guys, how did you prime the engine to lubricate the lifters?
Piss in it
Are you guys going to be at Gridlife again?
How was the gas mileage after the install???
I usually just take my phone and take lots of pictures if im doing a job where i have to remember where and how alot of parts go,, i still use a box very similar to theres...
Guessing these are the 127300s? No lockouts/limiters to the phasers to do the 127500s? :( hope it makes some power regardless
Nope, they state no limiters needed.
Can I do this to a crown vic?
Holt shit 6 years ago! Lol
And now I have 4.6 2v. Wrong engine for me, but still worth a watch.
Is this right next to KAFZAR Automotive?
dyno results?
have you guys tried some of the phaser lockout kits that are available?
Comp Cams says we dont need them so we didnt see a need to install them.
Nice video. However, aren't you supposed to run the engine at a constant 3000 rpm for thirty minutes for break in?
How can you not love wedges from Tim's?
You sure you two are canadians?
