    Thank you CNA for such a wonderful show! Even with their differences and day to day struggles, we can all see the love for one another in each family and how that is the driving force that keeps them together and moving forward💕 also, really enjoyed learning about the different cultures! Definitely gonna watch the other seasons☺

    "Why can't they see me put in the effort and why can't they reward whatever I made." - Asher 2019.
    Brah, that's not how the world works. I think homeschooling has ruined you completely from having a view of how the world works. When I was in secondary school and I put in all the effort for my Chinese and Social Studies but the result was still an F. The world is a reality and not a bubble, you get what you deserve for what you think and do. People don't sympathize with you just because you put in the effort, blame your mom and dad in believing that homeschooling makes sense for you rather than putting you through the normal way of studying in Singapore.

      Homeschooling s not bad at all and you should not blame homeschooling. Open your mind. In the US, a lot of kids are homeschooled and the majority of them go to university and do very well in life. Homeschoolers are independent and happy not stressed out and wanting to die like many pupils in asian school systems, because you don't let them live a little. Find out what homeschool is, there are different types as well and open your brain a bit instead of being so judgemental. No one needs to be so cynical in life to succeed.

    • @Ranger629
      @Ranger629 4 роки тому +1

      Umm Muslima the odds of home schooling and failing in life is much higher than normal schooling in the US. Before you use another country as a cross reference please check your percentages. Also, in the US a lot of home school is due to religion reasons.

      @@asleep3132 I am not from the US but from Europe and I know about the good school in Singapore and the way education is falling not only in the US but also in Europe. However, I think homeschooling is misunderstood and trust me, most kids who do it succeed in life whereas 100% of the kids who fail in the US come from the normal school system. In Asia, you put a lot of pressure on the kids and they drow up as adults with ental diseases. Look at the japanese: a lot are unable to take holidays, they work 24/7 and some committ suicide. Also, in Singapore, most kids, 80% at one time, were wearing glasses and this is a study made in Australia that showed that the reason for this is kids were always studying indoors and they need at least 2 hours a day outside in the sunlight. It is all a question of balance but the Ong kids will be strong emotionally, they will encounter difficulties in life but who doesn't, they will have their faith and family to support them, contrary to many other kids.

      Why should the older Ong kids take a part time job to help out with the family? They weren't the ones who decided to have half a dozen children. Maybe the parents should considered having a different hobby other than breeding like rabbits than they wouldn't be in this predicament. Or have their tubes tied.

    Story of the Chinese family was so touching! I think most 'A' level students in Singapore can relate to xuan! In China, "GaoKao" is probably even more stressful. The urge to give up is real because the exams are really hard but just persevere on. I did it, despite retaining one year. There were times I thought I no longer cared about studies, but looking back it isn't that; I was just too stressed and depressed after a string of dismal exam results. The support system around the student at those moments are extremely important; I had my parents and brother, along with tutors and I'm glad xuan's parents finally decided to step in to live with her.

    • @linefire9870

      I know right. I wish I had that. I wanted someone to tell me to not give up on my dreams. I made the worst degree choice. My parents are only home after 10 pm. I wanted an adult figure. I did not think that it was OK to want that until I started working, then I realised it was too late to ask. But all these experiences taught me that sometimes that you have to be the adult in your life, and others have it harder!

    • @rswy549
      @rswy549 5 років тому +8

      shuzler you must rmb that this was originally a TV series where there were ad breaks in show and each episode was maybe a week apart, so you couldn’t go back to watch the previous episode or rewind. In order to create some context and make the audience recall the previous episode, they had to repeat some scenes.

    I like how the Chinese parents are trying hard to genuinely do what is right for their daughter- I think the short term investment/sacrifice of a year of their time will pay off in the long term significantly. It’s great seeing how complicated yet loving real family life actually is. It is often messy and times of angst as you navigate changing dynamics but ultimately they are the ones who will always be there.
