The 70 year old mum, indeed brought up a kind, understanding and sensible daughter. I will listen to the grand mother advises. i wish to have a grand mother like her. God bless her with good health :)
@@zerogravityxz3754 what amaze me is that she dares to hv 3 kids within 4 years, not many chinese women are willing to sacrifice so much of their freedom. And this is a wise move because they are still young and have the energy to keep up with the kids. She is really very steady leh :)
Jin An didn't make an attempt to apologise to his mother-in-law even when she was willing to return for the weekend to cook and spend time with them at her daughter's request. He's taking her for granted and is too arrogant and egoistic for his own good. He didn't have much respect for his Mother-in-law, who contributed in the care of his daughter since she was born, in fact he probably finds her a hindrance now that he's a houseman. Why would a man want to stay home to look after his healthy child instead of bringing home the dough? The wife is the one working. Also why put so much stress on a child, subjecting her to all sorts of classes, just to give her a cutting edge and not lose out to others, because of this competitive world we live in? What is success in life if one does not stay happy and carefree? It's sad that many parents nowadays live out their dreams and pursue their passions through their children. How selfish is that! I agree with the mother-in-law, that kid needs a life!
As much as I agree with your POV regarding An Yu and his child, your point about all men having to work "to bring home the dough" is kind of an antithesis to your original argument and quite antiquate. It is 2019 afterall. It doesn't mean that just because a child is healthy that a man should not be a house husband. In this case, it is clear that he has worked hard before he took this break (and his MIL did in fact say this work break did help to somewhat improve his personality and attitude). Or, it could be that in terms of opportunity cost, his wife is able to draw a much higher salary than him due to the nature of the work and relevant skills she possesses at this current moment (in the instance of China, travel agencies are indeed doing very well). I wish work was as straightforward as you mentioned - where you will be happy to work all your life without a break as long as you have the talent or are a working professional, but there is a reason why sabbaticals and study breaks for professionals exist. If work is that perfect, no-one would quit, suffer burn out or crave for vacations or breaks. I personally know two very good fathers who have worked very hard for the past 15 - 20 years, and are now house husbands by choice to spend more time with their teenage kids...there's really no shame in that.
To be fair, he has nothing to apologize for. It's his kid. I agree with the grandmother's point, but it's not her child. The only person I can see the father apologizing to is his daughter, if she grows up to resent him.
The chinese grandma was realy nice. The 2 little brothers from Singapore were so cute when arguing. I really liked the parents from the Korean family, the father is really funny when he wants to.
CNA one of my favorite channels heart warming production a big THANK YOU to the families for allowing us in with open arms wishing them all the best 👍 😊
The Chinese family should just not disturb their mom anymore lah. Making her cook and do chores in their house when the lady is already old, they should be very grateful. The husband is rude.
He made some commission and wants to take his family for a holiday. Why doesn't he pay up his bills first and save for a rainy day. What a wise man. Little wonder why they are in financial difficulties..
Sorry kiat San but we need to enjoy our life too and its 25yrs anniv. that means a lot to the family. We may have alot of money but we missed a lot of things because of worrienes. They deserved to have fun also and go out of stress. Sorry again.
Irene Reymundo Schmitt but isnt it better to pay off what he can first instead of going on a holiday and knowing that there r still debts that he have to handle when he gets back and he won’t feel peaceful and would feel even more stressed and won’t be able to fully enjoy the holiday. that’s just my opinion
I counted and with a debt of usd $70k, the commission of usd $20k can hardly meet the debt. With this trip to Singapore for a family of 4, it will cost them about $7-8k all in. I can now see why they are in debt to begin with.
The koreans are in debt and yet they come to Singapore for holiday!!! They should pay up all their debt before even going for a holiday or if they must, should just go nearby like Jeju island. USD20K is only one time commission. It will finish very fast. And four person to travel is very expensive and staying Pan Pacific! I have this feeling CNA sponsor their trip or hotel at least or the hotel sponsor their stay. They should fix their house, pay back credit card debt first
why are you always judging the korean family, esp the mom?? you dont know them personally so i don’t think you have the right to say all those things. yes, they should pay finish the debts but dont make mean comments on the mom’s choices like that. you’re always bashing her so much, give her a break.
Thank you! Do keep a lookout for the other seasons which we'd be uploading soon. And do check out Season 4 which will be debuting on our website at cna.asia/family-affair-s4 later this month!
It’s pointless to comment on a documentary that old but I lost it when the voice said “wants to take the family on a vacation”. DO NOT SAY A WORD, SAVE IT, DAMMIT and fix your problems…don’t waste it on a VACATION. 😮
And great education by Doudou's dad modern way of teaching, by sending his daughter to superficial modeling competitions, learn about all the material bs early on, what a joke.
Parents like that sending their kids to so many useless classes, trying to "get ahead", and then later in life they wonder why their kids can't even focus on a single interest/skill. Pisses me off 😅😅
Im singaporean so this is not racist I would like to say to the Korean family visiting Singapore WELCOME TO SINGAPORE WHERE BUBBLEGUM IS ILLEGAL AND THE WHERE THE LAW IS REAL
So the Cho family faces a USD70+K debt and the first thing he does when he does earn a big commission is to spend it on a holiday? Oh the irony that he’s an insurance salesman.
People in long term financial strain have a tunnel vision mind set which is probably why he is reacting like that and not based on his actual priorities...
IuanColeYoung knowing the kind of hours Koreans have to work and the number of days they’re allowed to have off, I’d say it’s probably years and years if ever they’ve been able to do a trip like this. They still need to live a bit.
Most Asian countries have tax benefits on the houses that you own, hence they generally let it stay for a longer duration.. I guess that's true with them as well..
I agree their spending habits are horrendous, but in this case it's more of a bonding moment than just a simple vacation. Money can be made and saved but moments are irreplaceable.
Or maybe he has other priorities in life at that age than just tying a knot and popping out babies....maybe that's not how it works in some countries...especially those on the less prosperous side of the world I wonder why? Marriage should not be forced, it should come naturally when the time comes and the participants are ready for it, and if they are never ready then so be it. Life is too short to waste half of it being forced to do something you didn't want to when you had the choice not to...
With all respect but this singaporean man has no clue of making buisness. If he wants to do coffee he can get employed at the coffee shop. No need to invest if he wants to have his own buisness first needs to polish skills end do buisness course. Once he has skills and money and more time, he can try again lah~
But if he gets employed at a coffee shop, he has no freedom and can't be his own boss. He just like doing coffee as hobby and leisure and when you are doing something for leisure, you definitely don't want a boss on top of you.
The India first blind date was soo horrible, It started with a dumb question about her eyes and then the sarcastic answer from her followed by the woman was insulting him and treated him like an interviewee, then the guy got insulted since she hurt his ego and then he went to hurt her ego back...doomed...she snapped with comment. That woman will never get marry at that rate because she despises the idea of getting married worse still to a younger man...afraid of losing her control of life and freedom. Just look at her makeup totally not interested one eyeliner below the lower lid..disgusting. look at the dude..i mean his dressing sense is soo corporate..haha. The dude needs to change himself, be more of a gentleman and sensitive to people's feelings...or else he is gonna to a bachelor for the whole life.

these 5 episodes of family documentary are like a well-written novel that I have finally finished. Very nice work done by CNA
Thank you very much to those four families. I wish them the best of health and joy.
I love the families in this series and wish them all the best! 🙏👨👩👧👦💑
after 8 years of hard work taking care of Doudou, An Yu seems doesn’t respect his mother in law, shame on you!
I've enjoyed watching these families so much!
I watched the season 4 of The Family Affair first. I fell in love with it and now I'm planning to watch the other Seasons as well. 😊👍
After watching these episodes, I'm so happy about Mr Cho's new sale, it is a very tough job to be that kind of door-to-door salesman.

100% what I was thinking. This shows that people who have debts usually have them for a reason.
It might have been a sponsored trip

Beautiful, heart-warming series.
Awesome series. Enjoyed every episode... potential for act 2 with these same families ? Just so we know if ... niraj got married? Lol

Makes her even more frightening than her personality. Poor Niraj.
Seems like Chinese mother is a fan of zodiac sign theories .
Niraj needs to be an independent adult and move the heck out of that house. To heck with tradition!
I believe it's the indian tradition of a nucleus family.
I agree, to heck with tradition and forced marriage 😂
It’s So funny how they try to get a gay guy to get married with a girl lol
Good luck Niraj !
Did he say he was gay?
Always likelihood to be gay
I recently stalked this FB-profile. He is married with a girl.
I agree. Niraj needs his own space and to be with people his own age.
He got married 3 years ago!
As for the hard-headed chinese husband..he will be old himself one day..maybe then he will realise what his mother in law is feeling!!
the other thing is was his expectations with his daughter 85% and that best of all crap.
Bruh a 3 day trip does not suffice the 20+ years for her
Niraj is pure GAY😂 His prettier looking than his date😂 That lady knows You're Gay Niraj😂 She acted more musculine than Niraj😂
I think both have them lacked ethics in a date, what are the dos and don'ts.
I cannot believe that poor Indian dude, his first online date was so rude and passive aggressive towards him for absolutely no reason at all.
I feel like the Indian son being an only child lacks social skills, charm or any sort of appeal.

He needs to groom himself further, now he's zero ethics and soft skills. His blind date partner was worse.
I like the families but, the Indian family is so stereotypical about being married. What's the rush?
