Fine, but Ezra just accepting it is ridiculous. You’re stranded for almost a decade and your friend finds you and is just like “eh, I’ll explain eventually.” Terrible writing.

He was already perfect in Rebels, but FINALLY seeing Lars Mikkelsen play Thrawn in live action proves was was born to play Grand Admiral Thrawn! And his “Night Troopers” are beyond awesome. They’re the most intimidating looking army I’ve ever seen in Star Wars. Especially Enoch, he looks like a mix of a Roman centurion and a gladiator. And Baylan Skoll is proving to be one of the most complex and compelling characters in all of Star Wars. He managed to see not only that the Jedi had fallen even before Order 66 because of how they had become so blinded by their own hubris and hypocrisy, but he sees that the Galaxy can never be governed for long or even properly by either a Republic nor an Empire. So he is looking for a new power that will outlast all of them. It just makes it more tragic that Ray Stevenson didn’t live to see the overwhelming praise he would’ve received. @@riddles_in_the_dark ... I think it's safe to say that Captain Enoch is not an undead because, behind the mask you find the actor Wes Chatham who is known for his leading role as Amos Burton in the sci-fi TV series The Expanse, so him not being alive but just another resurrected undead wearing a helmet, would not make much sense. Also, Enoch has a biblical meaning in Hebrew, to train, initiate and being dedicated and disciplined. Not to forget that Enoch was the seventh patriarch in the book of Genesis.
It makes sense for her character that Sabine didn't talk about her 'failure' with Ezra. She's always been ashamed of her failures and reluctant to talk about them. I rewatched all of Rebels in the lead-up to the first episode of this series, and this kind of behaviour isn't out of character for her. She will eventually tell Ezra, hopefully not out of necessity but of her own decision.
It makes perfect sense for Sabine not to tell Ezra since she’s the one responsible for handing the map over to Thrawn’s people. He’ll probably be pissed when he finds out. “You’ve gambled the fate of your Galaxy.”
I think the Sabine thing is 'frustrating' as a viewer because we understand where it's going to go and what's important, but I feel viewing it from the perspective of Sabine, she absolutely just wants to have a good moment with Ezra without ruining it, either for her or for him. It's a selfish thing, there are more important things, but I can sympathise with her. I mean I'd be pulling my hair out trying to work out how to explain how coming to rescue him also means the potential return of Thrawn, the entire thing he 'sacrificed' himself for. Anyway, as long as it doesn't take too long to inform him, then I think it'll all be fine story wise. All that to say, I think it's relatively in character for Sabine, thinking with the heart first and the head second, but typically always ending up making the right choice. Anyway, whole episode felt like pure Star Wars, so much OT vibes through out.
I think Sabine not telling is gonna be a big point. Sabine has been stubborn and bullish like Ahoka said and she doesn't see how this is a real threat. The moment Ezra is gonna find out he's gonna lose his shit!
I had a big stupid grin on my face the whole time Thrawn was being revealed. Then he spoke and my stupid grin got bigger. Lars absolutely killed it. Ezra's actor as well I thought was fantastic. I could already see Ezra's mannerisms clearly.
Been with the channel since you had 2 or 3k subs. Was with you at Collider and SEN. Happy to see you doing your own thing now. You'll hit 100k soon!!!! Watching and liking all your stuff.
Come on, Kristian!! Be cool with Sabine wanting a moment to take a breather and enjoy FINALLY reuniting with Ezra after 10 years of unsurity and recently being held captive, she thinks Ahsoka's dead, and the only way back, in her mind , is to somehow go on a suicide mission to get back onboard the hyperspace ring. GIVE HER 5 MIN AND LET HER HAVE THIS WIN! 😁 Besides, if a rotation is a day, Morgan said it'll take 3 of 'em before they're ready to take off!!
I took the last conversation as a way for Filoni to wrap the episode without burning screen time. They’re about to move locations, they’ll have plenty of time during the trek to catch up on all the details the audience already has. I’m a happy Star Wars camper today, and it was fun to watch along with you!
This episode had almost a Dune feel to it, and I think you can attribute the different feel to them being in a whole different galaxy. Filoni is cooking!
The reason Sabine didnt want to tell to Ezra how she got there is because she knows Ezra is gonna be upset with her. His sacrifice was to remove Thrawn. By telling him she willingly gave the map that would bring Thrawn back would be a betrayal, despite her doing it for him. She just wants to enjoy this temporary nice reunion, before his disappointment in her
If you watch the episode with subtitles on, it reveals some things that aren't specifically mentioned by any characters so far: the stormtrooper with the golden face is named Caleb (if I recall correctly from last night), and the stormtroopers, with the red wrappings are called nighttroopers.
Rewatching Thrawn's entrance again here was amazing! I remember being at the Celebration stage when they first announced Thrawn when it was announced at being in Rebels. Oh, the joy. Now he is Live action with the same voice.
I think you're probably right. That bit really stood out for me, it didn't really make any sense. The animal doesn't owe her anything, they just met. Seemed such an odd thing to say, so I think you're absolutely right in that's what it was alluding to
I love these type of reaction from you! Keep them coming! Also, this episode was pretty good again. I love how Filoni keeps expanding and even building a little mystery about Baylans Goal. I really hope the final two episodes will keep up with this.
Hello Kristian Harloff, longtime viewer, first time commenter...I think. At any rate, I love that you're enjoying the Ahsoka series so far, and I love seeing your love and devotion to the franchise overall. It's very nice to see a fan who can have their own opinions and be civil about it, sadly, as Dooku would say, "A quality valued less and less in these great halls." On a more personal note, I have enjoyed the Ahsoka series as well, and I'd talk about my feelings on the other movies and shows, but we'll be here all day. But so far, I think we're more or less on the same page about everything, the end with Sabine and Ezra not being on the same page about the coming threat being one issue, but then I can understand them wanting one moment of peace...though I agree, they could have done away with the extra scenes with the "turtles" for something more meaningful. And last but not least, the grand entrance of Grand Admiral Thrawn into the live-action universe, from first to last scene, is glorious indeed. If I may respond to your point in 20:31 where you suggest that Thrawn needs a win, being the Thanos of the Star Wars world and therefore needs to do something devastating. I wholeheartedly agree that with the hype behind Thrawn, there has to be more than just a villain for three episodes. And if you want my opinion, I say Thrawn may very well cause the death of Mon Mothma. With Senators Amidala and Organa gone, Mothma is the last surviving member of the original Rebellion during Galactic Republic and Empire. Another thing to consider is that the show(s) have treated The New Republic with their cringey incompetence over what's going on right now. Mothma is definitely making it worse, having already had a relation with Hera and the Ghost crew. Somehow, I think this is was done on purpose to maybe setting up a moment where she'll see the error in their ways to help the Rebels team against Thrawn, though likely too late if speculations of Thrawn's further role in the Mando-verse are taken to be true. And I personally speculate (presuming it hasn't been brought up yet) this may lead to Mothma's death. I mean if she's gonna go before the Sequel Trilogy, what better way to go. Again, not sure if this had already been brought up or been debunked somehow, but it's something worth thinging about as we proceed with the grand scheme of things to come.
It makes sense for Sabine to not want to immediately explain the situation to Ezra. In her mind, with that conversation comes the fact that she has to tell him that she is the reason Thrawn is going to be able to get back to the main galaxy, undoing part of what Ezra did in Rebels, in a way… obviously she wouldn’t want to immediately jump into that conversation. She just wants to have a moment with her best friend she hasn’t seen in 10 years. It’s not the *right* thing to do, but the flaws are good for the character.
I love how Filoni continues to remind us of Star Wars' Japanese cultural influence. For example: 1) The repairs made to the Star Destroyer and Stormtrooper armor were inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold, 2) The red armor of the marauders remind me of the red armor wore by the samurais in Akira Kurosawa's Ran, and 3) Bokken (when Baylan referred to Bokken Jedi) is the "fake" wooden sword used in training.
I been loving these reactions videos Kristian, the joy on your face watching this series so far reminds why being a Star Wars fan brings so much joy to me and a whole lot of others too, it’s pretty awesome! 🎉 And your also not wrong about how bad-arse this series Villians have been too, I been loving em
Tehran’s entice with the music, the chanting, and everything reminded a lot of like lord of the rings with orcs and Sauron. Something like that. Fantastic entrance!!
I started rebels recently and havent seen thrawn yet, I only know him from the books which I listened to on Audible. Until you said it I didn't realise Lars played the character on youtube. Hearing him speak brought the character I knew to life lol, such a signature way of speaking it's awesome
It makes sense that Sabine would be ashamed of her choices. Thrawn was perfected. That unshakable confidence and strategic intellect that makes him so terrifying was on full display.
As others have said, Sabine is probably ashamed of her actions. Is it stupid she didnt tell him? Yes, but shes been making a lot of stupid decisions. Desperation makes people do stupid things.
Being a big Star Wars fan I'm loving this series so far. After watching the episodes I can't wait to watch other fans videos and seeing their reactions too. Thanks for doing the last two episodes and hope you continue to do more.
Pumped to watch this review! This was my tip top favorite in Star Wars for tv ( and over sequels) . I just line things a little dark . The Nightsisters coujd be made to look even cooler with a bigger budget . But I like the mystery and lore. Lot of fun.
This was by far my favorite episode so far. The intro to Thrawn is perfect, and they’ve already demonstrated how ruthless and tactical he is. I love the trooper design and it seems that some, if not all, of them are zombie type beings from the Night Sisters like Marrok was. Building on whatever Baylon is up to worked great for me. I thought the intro of Ezra worked really well too, and I like the actor a lot so far in the character. I get what you’re saying about Sabine, but I don’t mind it as much because there would be so much guilt there. He risked everything to bring Thrawn away, and she’s basically undone his sacrifice. They probably intend for that to be a conflict between them in future episodes and that was too much to put here.
I’ve been watching you a long time. You’re the most practical Star Wars critic imo. There is homers and then bandwagon Star Wars fans. You’re the Bendu. Keep doing what you’re doing.
There's literally no reason Sabine needs to vomit exposition, all of which we the audience already know, on to Ezra within 30 seconds of finding him after years of absence. Like there's nothing wrong with taking a minute. If next episode starts and she hasn't said anything two days later, then sure. But this complaint is just silly.
When i first saw it, I saw her decision not to tell him was her just wanting one good moment to last before everything falls to crap again. She's had a pretty bad rough go of it since he's been gone and has been looking forward to this reunion since, so she doesn't want to ruin it yet. But i see a lot of people bringing up a great point of her feeling guilty! I definitely see that, especially after he says that he can't wait to come home again. You can see the conflict in her and she knows she has to tell him eventually.
She has a habbit of putting her own emotions before anything else... very emotionally immature Allmost every decision she makes is wrong and the success of the villans are allmost completely because of that....
You're both bang on right. It made complete sense for the moment... but her constant immaturity/selfishness is getting annoying now as she is constantly the reason things get worse in the show. I don't find myself at all routing for her
@@sunnytimes_It would probably be a problem if the show was about her but thankfully, Ahsoka is the protagonist and every other character can either be a friend or an obstacle, depending on the moment. The odds are against her saving the day before the end of the season.
@@TheRoyalFino Agree. I'm still enjoying the show for getting a lot of other things right, being bold and continuing to expand the mythos/intentions behind the characters, especially with ahsoka. I guess I see sabine's character the most regressed from what I remember in Rebels and perhaps the most done deliberately to give her a few seasons to grow. She is after all padawan to Ahsoka and hence part of Anakin's legacy. That must have a pay off at some point ;)
She's scared to admit to Ezra how she betrayed Ashoka, and put the entire galaxy in danger coming here, by ruining his sacrifice and allowing thrawn to escape. Can't blame her for not wanting to fess up to that after seeing her friend for the first time in ten years
Mandalorians wear Beskar for a reason, they can almost ignore redshirts. Totally in line with Sabine's character, always making it difficult for her allies, complicating the plot. It is what it is.
WOW. What a great episode! There is so much going on. Baylon's story is absolutely fascinating. Is he trying to time travel? Is he going to be behind the first order? I have no clue where his story goes. Thrawn was dope. I am good with the reaction from Sabine and Ezra, and also trust that Filoni has intent on doing that, perhaps for the next two episodes story wise
I read Heir to the Empire when it came out in 1991 so I've been waiting for 32 years for Grand Admiral Thrawn to get to in live action and it didn't disappoint I say it's so far Perfect
The Good: - We went to a new galaxy - Huyang's line, " A long, long time ago. In a galaxy far, far away " - The lead witch was Claudia Black of Farscape (a classic and one of my all-time favorite sci-fi shows) - Introduction of Thrawn - Reunion with Ezra - Thrawn's army is the most intriguing and threatening Stormtroopers I've ever seen. I think some if not all of them are de*d. Their armor has been crushed and restored with gold. Most likely due to suffering fatal wounds so they must've been reanimated with witch magic. The Bad: - The intro to the new galaxy took place on a barren boring wasteland of a planet. Instead of a sprawling, bustling civilization with new tech, culture, architecture, etc., we've never seen in SW before - Thrawn's Destroyer backdrop during his intro and for most of his scenes was really bad greenscreen or Volume. It reminded me of the blown-up obvious matte painting of the Millennium Falcon behind Lando in the scene with his "Would you get going you pirate? " line to Solo in ESB - Thrawn had a dad bod with a puny chest and shoulders with a beer belly which was comical to look at. Undermining his intimidating look otherwise. - The actor who played Ezra's delivery seemed a bit stiff and wooden on first viewing - You're right. Sabine's dismissiveness when Ezra asks her how she got to him makes no sense. Especially because the people who got her there may pose an imminent threat to them both. And she believes them to be their only way home (as she has no idea Ahsoka's even alive let alone coming to get her). Both are crucially important to communicate to Ezra immediately.
I think this episode nailed who Sabine was flaws and all. Her not telling people important stuff like when they go to mandalore in rebels she doesn't mention that I made a super weapon that targets my own people's unique armor. Lol she can be a pain!
Agree with your assessment of Baylan. Sabine 's dialogue is inane. Love the wolf/horse. Really like your assessment of this episode. Like the turtle poeple. They call to mind both the droids at the mechanic shop and Dobby. Sabine was hideous. So unreal.
This (for me) is the best I have seen Sabine. She was for a lack of a better term "animated" I get she doesn't want to tell Ezra. She feels super guilty. Ahsoka is "dead" she is "letting" Thrawn back into the Galaxy and is basically undoing Ezra's sacrifice . Ezra I assume is happy to be exiled if he can keep Thrawn away, I love how Sabine transferred her feelings of abandonment form Ahsoka on tot he Dog Horse.
Holy shit this episode is something else! Also, by now, you're a top tier reactor. I think you remind me of like bill burr, but more familiar with fantasy/scifi/comics. Fuckin gold.
I think that ending fits because she's going to have to tell Ezra that she kinda betrayed his initial sacrifice by giving them the map to get there and in the process gave Thrawn a chance to return. Maybe she doesn't want to disappoint him.
ILMAO! I had the same reaction to Sabine not telling Ezra what happen. We need more of these reactions. Please continue this through Ahsoka and Loki. Great stuff Kristian.
They did the Sabine not telling Ezra what happened because he already knows what happened. And if she explains we would expect him too instead of it just a happy reunion. Which is what a lot of people wanted from the ending of rebels.
I haven’t watched too much of rebels but from what I have seen of Sabine in this show, her attitude doesn’t surprise me. She’s not ready to face the guilt she feels from bringing that much risk to the galaxy to save Ezra, and she knows he’ll be pissed that she did it. She really wants that hour of happy reunion before he blames her.

Once I heard his voice, i just had a huge grin. Loving it, Filoni is my hero.
I think the actor nailed Ezra so far. Can't wait to see him in action and if he's become more powerful since Rebels
I love Kristians innocent reactions. Shows his humility and love of Star Wars
I love watching you watch Star Wars! I just love it, damnn I feel like I’m watching with a friend..great uploads, Harloff
I loved this episode! That music as Thron was walking was top shelf. so fantastic!
This episode had almost a Dune feel to it, and I think you can attribute the different feel to them being in a whole different galaxy. Filoni is cooking!
Thrawn was amazing. His flagship looks amazing. I'm hoping we get a good battle with him leading on Chimaera
Beautiful reaction, as always Kristian! Stay safe!
I take the moment she tells the wolf that he abandoned her that she’s really saying that to Ahsoka.
I think you're probably right. That bit really stood out for me, it didn't really make any sense. The animal doesn't owe her anything, they just met. Seemed such an odd thing to say, so I think you're absolutely right in that's what it was alluding to
the dog horse anteater thing is adorable
Thrawn just radiates every time he's on screen.
Enjoyed watching your reaction to the episode almost as much as I enjoyed the episode itself. So good!
Minor Critique: During his Exile...I think Thrawn REALLY needed some of that "Athletic Greens" lol
Really liked your episode last week so here again for this one. Let’s go !!!!!!
The three night sisters have got to be a play on the three fates from Greek mythology. They even refer to fate as a thread, same as them.
Lot of fun.
Thrawn is the Gustavo Fring of Star Wars
But sometimes he just nitpicks the stupidest thing without really thinking about them first.
@@bingbong4427 SW theory knit picks
@@killamindedmusic4220 Sw theory has an agenda when he nitpicks.all for the hater clicks.
I think she didnt want to tell Ezra, because of the citcunstances of how she got there, having to ally with the bad guys
She has a habbit of putting her own emotions before anything else... very emotionally immature
Allmost every decision she makes is wrong and the success of the villans are allmost completely because of that....
You're both bang on right. It made complete sense for the moment... but her constant immaturity/selfishness is getting annoying now as she is constantly the reason things get worse in the show. I don't find myself at all routing for her
@@sunnytimes_totally agree. Why the good guys trust her with anything is mindbogling...
I wonder how many people are gonna cosplay as gold face now.
@2:10 I think we heard the story, he he is telling her the whole movie of A NEW HOPE. And now she knows of Luke. And will go see him.
What a magnificent episode! The lore, the organ music for Thrawn, the wolf-rat!!
If anything happens to that wolf-rat, I swear to god....
Loved the tension leading up to Thrawn. His entrance was magnificent
The closed captions named those troopers as Night Troopers.
Glad to see you are still making Star Wars content!
I love how they make the whales journey sort of like the salmon run from the ocean to the streams where they were born
"crrepy-face McGillicuddy" had me rolling... great reaction!
I cracked up when Ezra talked to the crab people and you said, "Bless you" That was great! hahahaah
I read Heir to the Empire when it came out in 1991 so I've been waiting for 32 years for Grand Admiral Thrawn to get to in live action and it didn't disappoint I say it's so far Perfect
Not concerned Sabine didn’t rush to tell Ezra how she found him..surprised Ezra didn’t press her on how she found him
How awesome was that stormtrooper with the golden Excalibur looking face..I want that figure now..😂great episode..and that music score too 🧡👌🔥
The Good:
- We went to a new galaxy
- Huyang's line, " A long, long time ago. In a galaxy far, far away "
- The lead witch was Claudia Black of Farscape (a classic and one of my all-time favorite sci-fi shows)
- Introduction of Thrawn
- Reunion with Ezra
- Thrawn's army is the most intriguing and threatening Stormtroopers I've ever seen. I think some if not all of them are de*d. Their armor has been crushed and restored with gold. Most likely due to suffering fatal wounds so they must've been reanimated with witch magic.
The Bad:
- The intro to the new galaxy took place on a barren boring wasteland of a planet. Instead of a sprawling, bustling civilization with new tech, culture, architecture, etc., we've never seen in SW before
- Thrawn's Destroyer backdrop during his intro and for most of his scenes was really bad greenscreen or Volume. It reminded me of the blown-up obvious matte painting of the Millennium Falcon behind Lando in the scene with his "Would you get going you pirate? " line to Solo in ESB
- Thrawn had a dad bod with a puny chest and shoulders with a beer belly which was comical to look at. Undermining his intimidating look otherwise.
- The actor who played Ezra's delivery seemed a bit stiff and wooden on first viewing
- You're right.
The casual "bless you" made me super laugh
"Eeeeeeh...... don't worry about it" 🤣🤣🤣 best reaction to that
E-Rocks!!!! Also the head Night Sister is played by Claudia Black!!
So well done. Everything about it really.
I think this episode nailed who Sabine was flaws and all. Her not telling people important stuff like when they go to mandalore in rebels she doesn't mention that I made a super weapon that targets my own people's unique armor. Lol she can be a pain!
This is the best reaction to an episode ever lol. I love it!
"editing as we speak" had me crying. Comedy gold mate 😆
THANKS for this!!!!
Great Episode - As others have written, what Sabine did in that moment makes sense to me.
😂”Bless ya”
I liked the Koopa Loompas.
Agree with your assessment of Baylan. Sabine 's dialogue is inane. Love the wolf/horse.
Really like your assessment of this episode. Like the turtle poeple.
They call to mind both the droids at the mechanic shop and Dobby. Sabine was hideous. So unreal.
im loving ashoka/rebels!!!
Was fun!
This (for me) is the best I have seen Sabine. She was for a lack of a better term "animated"
I get she doesn't want to tell Ezra. She feels super guilty. Ahsoka is "dead" she is "letting" Thrawn back into the Galaxy and is basically undoing Ezra's sacrifice . Ezra I assume is happy to be exiled if he can keep Thrawn away,
I love how Sabine transferred her feelings of abandonment form Ahsoka on tot he Dog Horse.
Best episode of the series. Nobody can complain about this series.
1:21 come on Ahsoka you heard it we haven’t it 😂
100% with you on the review.
She didn't tell him because she knows he'd be pissed. she's ashamed.
These reactions are amazing Kristian
ILMAO! I had the same reaction to Sabine not telling Ezra what happen. We need more of these reactions. Please continue this through Ahsoka and Loki. Great stuff Kristian.
Captain Enochs helmet reminds me of Russell Crow's opponents in Gladiator
If you have subtitles on, it says night soldiers when they're chanting thrawn so all these stormtroopers are undead
Enoch looking like a character from Gladiator.
loved it
The gold mask trooper reminds me of Tigris of Gaul from Gladiator.
16:58 “bless you” ahahahaha 😂
