Using Ray Stevenson's actual age (58), since there is no confirmed birth year for Baylan, and taking that he was already a Jedi before Order 66, he would have been around 27 at the end of The Clone Wars. Anakin was 22 when he became Darth Vader. Ahsoka is currently 48 years old, which would have made her 17 at the end of The Clone Wars (which is close to Rosario Dawson's 44, and Ariana Greenblatt's 16).
@theunknownuser9609 I stand corrected.... it's only 3 years. That would theoretically make Baylan 30 at the end of the Clone Wars. Most importantly, the casting team did a superlative job of finding the right actors for the roles, as they came pretty darn close to looks, ages, etc.
Why this is one of the best episodes of Star Wars ever made: 1) The long anticipated return of Thrawn not only paid off but FAR exceeded our already high expectations. He was already perfect in Rebels, but FINALLY seeing Lars Mikkelsen play Thrawn in live action proves was was born to play Grand Admiral Thrawn! And his “Night Troopers” are beyond awesome. They’re the most intimidating looking army I’ve ever seen in Star Wars. Especially Enoch, he looks like a mix of a Roman centurion and a gladiator. 2) The moment I heard “I knew I could count on you” from Eman Esfandi as Ezra I almost cried. 3) Baylan Skoll is proving to be one of the most complex and compelling characters in all of Star Wars. He managed to see not only that the Jedi had fallen even before Order 66 because of how they had become so blinded by their own hubris and hypocrisy, but he sees that the Galaxy can never be governed for long or even properly by either a Republic nor an Empire. So he is looking for a new power that will outlast all of them. 4) The Nightsisters being the lynchpin that ties everything together. Now it makes sense how an incredibly ancient map could lead to where Thrawn was currently, because Morgan was told so in her visions by the Great Mothers, who were instructed by Thrawn. And in exchange for aiding Thrawn, he would take them and whatever their cargo is (and I have a bad feeling I might know what it is) back to our Galaxy. DAVE FILONI YOU MAD GENIUS, YOU NEVER FAIL TO ENTERTAIN US!
I didn't think Sabine's reaction to Ezra was unusual. I love Sabine but she is the queen of repressed emotions, unless the emotions are anger and things like that. Not to say she's bad or anything, it's just that she wears her emotions on her sleeve when it comes to a mission, or her enemies, but when it comes to looking inward, sharing her feelings, etc you tend to get very little from her. It probably has something to do with how she can't feel the force. Search your feelings Sabine! I knew she was gonna play it cool. Even in this episode Baylon offered that being locked up in the cell would be a good time for reflection but Sabine would not even entertain the thought. Until she learns to accept and reach out with her feelings, she will not be able to wield the force. That's my opinion at least. Thanks for the great review as always.
I think the Night Troopers are ressurrected. Even though Thrawn would probably never let his troops look dirty and patched up, or even have them wear ribbons, I think Feloni wanted to make it obvious they've seen battle. The red ribbons symbolise the Night Sisters' wrappings or bandages around magical repairwork. Edit: it just hit me that the Night Sisters needed three days to work their dark magic... three days for resurrection. Another bible reference. But then who have they been fighting? This "greater power" Baylan senses?
The night troopers have broken army that has been repaired with a golden material. Like the art kintsugi. The fact his troopers represent a form of art is very fitting for Thrawn.
The first thing that set me off about these "night troopers" was the condition of their armor. You'd think a Grand Admiral would demand perfect military discipline and that every trooper's armor would be immaculate. But there's a theory now that these troopers may be Night Sister zombies. That would explain a lot, and adds to the utter horror and intensity of this entire setting.
🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️ Guys, great reaction as always!! Mister Stevenson has always been one of my favorite Actors and in this show he's created a beautiful Swan-Song. I remember the first show I ever saw him in, it was Rome on HBO; after that he had me. His character in this show is totally galvanizing and it breaks my heart that we (as fans) only have our imagination's to show us a small glimpse as to what he would have made of this character going forward 😞😞 Side Note: Thrawn may do something unexpected when it comes to Ahsoka (remember; for those who have read the books) once he learns who her Master was. Thrawn was "friends" (for lack of a better term) with both Anakin and Vader so their meeting could be quite interesting 🤔🤔
History of the universe parts 1, 2, & 3… 1 being the best! 😂 Was I only one who thought that was Prequel, Original, and Sequel trilogies reference? Too funny!!
The new Stormtrooper with a face gives me real Mordred (King Arthur's nephew) vibes from John Boorman's 1981 epic 'Excalibur' with the golden armoured face.
I love it how every reaction is people seeing the howler and going wtf ew and then when it comes back to Sabine, it’s an immediate switch and it’s all I love him!
I love how much mystery came from this episode. Thrawn is definitely afraid of something. There are a lot of clues, that something weird is going on with Ezra. For one, Sabine found him within hours. There were simply no way Thrawn wasn’t able to find him as well. Two, Thrawn refused to commit too many resources to helping Baylon. Saying that they have taken heavy losses already. If I was a guessing man, I would say that the admiral is afraid of Ezra. Baylon himself spoke of a power he could feel, and also hinted at the fact that Thrawn and company are afraid of something on the planet. Either Ezra has become very powerful or he’s allied with something very powerful.
my guess is that it involves the World Between Worlds and the Mortis gods. Likely case scenario is that when Thrawn leaves, and everyone gets stranded; most likely they will find a gateway to the World between worlds and use that to escape the planet/galaxy they are in and return.
@@Indiana_Minotaur I’ve seen some theories that point to Abeloth possibly being on the planet. Abeloth is you’re unfamiliar is the wife of the father and a very powerful and evil being.
It's so funny to me that some of these people who were voice actors in Star Wars end up playing these characters and kind of look like them is almost like the company itself were looking for people that looked like some of their characters dressed like Katee Sackhoff looks like bo and this guy looks like thrawn it's almost like they knew in the back of their minds that they were going to do a live-action version of them way before cartoons
I'm curious to know if in addition to having been a Jedi Knight and a General, if Baylan had also been a Master with a Padawan. I'm wondering if the death of his Padawan during Order 66 was the breaking point for him. If losing him or her was what made him so angry at the Jedi's blindness and failings to see that their greatest enemy Darth Sidious was literally right in front of them. Baylan has voiced how the idea of the Jedi was greater than the reality of the Jedi, which seems to be his greatest motivation to build a new Order which lives up to those ideals, as he sees them.
Presumably once the Purrgil and the Chimera arrived at Peridea the Purrgil released the ship (and Thrawn) leaving Ezra surrounded by a whole Star Destroyer full of Stormtroopers. He probably fought his way to an escape pod or a shuttle and escaped.
You got Wes “I am that guy” aka Amos in this episode and then cherry on top other then legend Lars as Thrawn. Claudia Black is one of the ancient Night Mothers. She is an amazing actress that has done so many great series including farscape and SG-1, but also a solid amount of voice over work from most of the uncharted games as chloe through mass-effect and so many more. Love this episode
As much as I enjoyed and loved seeing Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. Great terrific. Lars Mikkelsen who voiced Thrawn in Rebels and is now here as live action Grand Admiral Thrawn!?! That's what sold this episode for me and yes just like you Steven and basically everyone else -- I'm glad they didn't cliffhanger Thrawn because that would totally suck in my opinion. And why am I not surprised that Nikki made a "I'm blue" reference lol classic Nikki
Don't think Thrawn could have been the little youngling that asked Anakin "What are we going to do?" since Baylon just finished telling Shin he was a little older than she is now when he watched the Jedi Temple burn, and the fact that Thrawn remembered him as a Jedi General would put him closer to Anakin's age.
The plan was did Ezra’s plan for victory at Lothal work and did the rebels defeat the Empire by removing Thrawn from the battle. The plan that brought him out of the picture.
When Ezra finds out that Sabine disobeyed Ahsoka, and chose finding Baylan the orb map, that led to Thrawn and him, was more important to her than protecting the galaxy from Thrawn's return, that could begin to create a rift between them. Baylan is searching dor The Wills and the source, the wellspring of The Force.
You know its the voice and the way Thrawn speaks that really completes the character. Shout out to Timothy Zahn and Marc Thompson for bringing this character to us. Really hope they do the trilogy as movies!
To me, Sabine holding back was the correct choice. Ezra sacrificed everything to defeat Thrawn. Sabine, in her actions, has nullified many of his sacrifices just for her own desire to see him again. I think she held back because she is feeling a lot of guilt about what she has done and she is worried about how he will take the news.
The great thing about Thrawn's character is that he is a Grand Master Chess player in terms of how he thinks. He's not moves ahead, he's games ahead. That strength will be his biggest weakness I suspect... because the best way to take down this sort of chess master is with someone playing checkers, like Sabine!
I’m thinking Thrawn is gonna use Ahsoka’s background information to request the night sisters to use the dark magic to create this dark anakin to either mess with her mind or fight her
Thrawn has potentially an undead army and a vengeance to strike at the galaxy - specifically the New Republic, I hope he and his forces prove to be quite the threat.
Figured it out. Baylan Skoll is trying to get rid of the two groups, jedi and sith and make them into one group as force users. He got tired of the conflict between force users and now sees that the only way to stopping the cycle is by uniting all force users. That's the new beginning he seeks.
I think Baylan is very fluid in his plan. Feeling whatever power is on the planet tweaked it a bit. And yes, I want to know everything he’s been through since the temple was burned down. The troopers are loading up occupied coffins. Thrawn will have an undead army. I suspect Thrawn called for volunteers to die and be brought back. Don’t forget that Thrawn doesn’t actually care about the Empire, the New Republic, or any people in the known galaxy. He only cares about the Chiss Ascendency. Thrawn and Anakin worked together. Between Episode 2 & 3 movies. He also worked with Vader before Palpatine sent him to Lothal in Rebels. He knows Anakin is Vader.
Great reaction awesome episode Thrawn is gonna be the main villain of Dave Filoni's movie and Steven I don't know if you've noticed this or not but Thrawn is now more dangerous than ever before cause he's taken advantage of something that he's previously overlooked that caused his downfall the force
Still not enough. This is gonna be the third time he's underestimating the Force. First, on Atollon. Then, Lothal. And now, on Peridia. Overplanning and his overreliance on Nightsister magic will be his undoing. You cannot 100 percent accurately predict what the Force is or isn't going to do. Oh, Thrawn. Predictable as ever. 😏
Yet Thrawn spent years there on that planet and could not find Ezra while it took 15 minutes for Sabine to find him. I am smelling shit writing there. Thrawn in Zahn's trilogy is never that stupid and incompetent yet Disney make him look so.
@@williamho1976 here’s the thing though,… was it because he couldn’t find him, or he didn’t want to find him? Remember when Morgan asked for more troops and he flat out just said no, we’ve taken too many losses? I think Thrawn is afraid of Ezra, or at least something that Ezra has allied himself with. Not to mention that Thrawn clearly just wants to get off the planet and out of that galaxy. There is something much bigger going on here. A lot of what Baylon said to Shin hints at this as well.
Hi guys! My favorite character so far is Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto. Her godfather was Bruce Lee. I really hope that Ashoka and Morgan have a final battle at the end. Thanks for the reaction!

The "Best" episode ??? We did not even see Ashoka in her own show come on she was only there for 3 minutes or so....
@@j.coursol5249 there were episodes of Andor where Cassian had just as much screen time, and yet they were still amazing.
Thrawn and Ezra finally return 🥹 and the visuals of nightsisters🤩🤩🤩
Ezra gives me huge Jesus of Nazareth vibes.
Morgan did mention the catacombs ..
The night troopers have broken army that has been repaired with a golden material. Like the art kintsugi. The fact his troopers represent a form of art is very fitting for Thrawn.
@@c.a.honeycutt5046 But it's still not Thrawn-like to allow them to be dirty.
His character in this show is totally galvanizing and it breaks my heart that we (as fans) only have our imagination's to show us a small glimpse as to what he would have made of this character going forward 😞😞
Side Note:
Thrawn may do something unexpected when it comes to Ahsoka (remember; for those who have read the books) once he learns who her Master was.
Too funny!!
I think that would have gone by release order not episode order.
I know Mel Brooks hasn't done a History of the World Part 3, but Part 1 was definitely better than Part 2.
The new Stormtrooper with a face gives me real Mordred (King Arthur's nephew) vibes from John Boorman's 1981 epic 'Excalibur' with the golden armoured face.
Take a thousand Likes for your comment. Anyone who references Excalibur in any comment section deserves them!
top man! @@michaelm.1947
Yeah Wes Chatham is Enoch
But The amazing Claudia Black from Stargate and Farscape is one of the Night sisters.
Enoch with the Roman Empire legionarie style mask had me so hype
I love it how every reaction is people seeing the howler and going wtf ew and then when it comes back to Sabine, it’s an immediate switch and it’s all I love him!
"Children stories come to life." Thanks Dave!
Dave is the man!!
I think Ezra sensed she arrived and then sent them looking for her. In a way maybe he found he.
Thrawn plays chess and everyone else is playing checkers.
That means Thrawn is doing everything wrong
I like that Sabine took care of the nomads pretty quickly with the saber. She is skilled with it, against non-Force-users.
It's so funny to me that some of these people who were voice actors in Star Wars end up playing these characters and kind of look like them is almost like the company itself were looking for people that looked like some of their characters dressed like Katee Sackhoff looks like bo and this guy looks like thrawn it's almost like they knew in the back of their minds that they were going to do a live-action version of them way before cartoons
seeing thrawn, while also being played by the SAME FUCKING VA, in live action gave me the same chills I had seeing Thanos in Infinity War.
It has been such a great show and very rewarding for the fans. Glad you are enjoying it as well.
So cool the credits did confirm that Enoch is played by Wes Chatham! Amos Burton is officially in Star Wars
He’s gonna wake up the dead troopers
You got Wes “I am that guy” aka Amos in this episode and then cherry on top other then legend Lars as Thrawn. Claudia Black is one of the ancient Night Mothers. She is an amazing actress that has done so many great series including farscape and SG-1, but also a solid amount of voice over work from most of the uncharted games as chloe through mass-effect and so many more. Love this episode
Thraw and Baylan are just peeeerfect in this episode. We really can feel some SW love in this series.
So glad to watch this with y’all. For me this is one of the most visually satisfying and attentive offerings from Star Wars yet. ❤
there's very good boys even in a galaxy far far away 🥰
Thrawn Is basically the Sherlock Holmes of the Star Wars universe
Thrawn confirmed Baylan was a general during the clone wars and not much older than Shin during order 66
Great reaction, guys. I love your enthusiasm for this series. They are definitely creating something special here.
Nikki's reaction to Thrawn without missing a beat was hilarious 🤣
The creature that Sabine was riding according to the subtitles is called a Howler I assume it’s like a lothwolf but a different species variant
Captain Enoch played by Wes Chatham? Let's go!
“Double,double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.”
The music is often mentioned in these reactions,I love the theme that plays during the end credits.
Amos' mask reminded me of the former champion that Russell Crowe fights in Gladiator.
You mean Enoch's mask
12:19 Of course he is terrifying! That's Murdersnuggles baby! Wes Chatham! No, really. That is Wes Chatham portraying Thrawn's Senior Stormtrooper!
Well, "He is that guy" that would wish you "Die well".
They picked Eman Esfandi well, I have been of that opinion ever since I first looked him up.
You know its the voice and the way Thrawn speaks that really completes the character. Shout out to Timothy Zahn and Marc Thompson for bringing this character to us. Really hope they do the trilogy as movies!
Ahsoka’s near-death vision with her master leading rescuers to her location reminded me of Luke’s near-death vision of Obi-Wan on Hoth.
I hope we either get a flashback or a long monologue story from thrawn about their survival and rise to where they are now in the ahsoka story.
"I'm blue daba dee daba daay" xD Nikki just had to slip that in there haha
To me, Sabine holding back was the correct choice. Ezra sacrificed everything to defeat Thrawn. Sabine, in her actions, has nullified many of his sacrifices just for her own desire to see him again. I think she held back because she is feeling a lot of guilt about what she has done and she is worried about how he will take the news.
With the viking theme, music feels very viking. Very norse. Even the end credits have a Nordic feel to it
The genius of Kevin Kiner
I mean pretty cool considering Lars is Scandinavian.
I've never been so excited to see/hear: "Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away..."
that was a great little moment
Nikki 😂 with her jokes is the highlight of EVERYTHING! 😂
Me: leaving comment.
Nikki: another creature to love.
This has been an excellent series so far! Its like watching one of the good movies!
Thrawn will be surprised when he finds out who ahsokas master was
He knows Anakin and he closely works with vader before he got exiled
@@kieffer9705 I know that’s why
@kieffer9705 duh we know that. We just want to see his reaction
Ray Stevenson- what a presence indeed and a great loss
That terrifying stormtrooper is Wes Chatham.
I looked at my son when they introduced the “dog” and I told him Nikki was going to go crazy about him!
Enoch is played by Wes AKA Amos from Expanse.
Hi guys!
My favorite character so far is Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto. Her godfather was Bruce Lee.
I really hope that Ashoka and Morgan have a final battle at the end.
Thanks for the reaction!
The person who is playing thrawn, played stregobor in the Witcher:)
