💯 Agreed! This would be a great way to honor Ray’s legacy. Depending on whether Dave has a further need for Baylan in future live action stories…the list of actors who could even approach Ray Stevenson’s presence is short. My first choice would have to be Liev Schreiber, 2nd, possibly Gerard Butler…after that, I just don’t know.
@@MrWord283 That's my point. Who would they get to voice Baylan since Ray Stevenson is no longer here? I mean, they've got MASSIVE shoes to fill, because Ray was badass! Corey Burton voicing Dooku in TCW and other Star Wars media outside of the movies is understandable, and his Dooku voice sounds similar to the original, but casting someone else to voice Baylan? Again, massive shoes to fill since Ray was just dominating the role here, and this was his last one ever.
The Three Fates bit is intentional: The credits name the Great Mothers as Aktropaw, Klothow, and Lakesis, a reference to Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis, the Three Fates in Greek mythology.
I think the Great Mothers are, in fact, the same Greek Fates. My theory is that Feloni and Favreau are planting a small anchor point in the SW universe for potential multiversal crossovers. Marvel has already established that gods and deities exist as advanced alien species from other worlds. This would cast a thread from a different direction.
High five on being the first person to call out the use of kintsugi on the troopers. Especially with them being called "Night Troopers" it's almost certain that it's not just their armor that was repaired, but their bodies as well with the Nightsister magick like we saw with Marrok earlier. I think Andor is overall better quality. Though some scenes in this definitely match that level. But the story was better plotted in Andor. That being said, I think this was my favorate since the premiere. Thrawn was great to see.
24:17 is pure gold: "What in the Jim Henson is this?" "Oh my god, does that have a waistcoat on?!" "He has a little fucking waistcoat on! He's like a little Hobbit man! A Hobbit-lobster-Ninja-Turtle." It was such a purely new and unique yet old school Star Wars moment.
OMG I love her. The actress delivers every line with so much quiet intensity, you don't know what she'd thinking but you can see on her face that she's reacting to EVERYTHING internally
Your reactions are what I wait for the most after finishing the Ahsoka eps. Haven't watch you guys before but I am enjoying it a LOT. Living in the woods working from home mostly can be a bit isolating even though it's nice.. but these reactions really help me feel less alone in the world
"It reeks of jedi" (Sabine Wren) They didn't know her at all, but they sensed the jedi in her. She wasn't dressed like a jedi or carrying a lightsaber. She was just standing there. I take this as a confirmation that Sabine is a force sensitive jedi.
I get the sense from the final scene that Thrawn is highly uncomfortable with his dependence on the Nightsisters and the entire point of letting Sabine go is getting rid of her, Ezra, Baylon and Shin so there are no other unknown quantities/force users around to complicate matters. Also I can't wait for Timothy Zahn (who else) to write at least one novel about Thrawn's exile. From the alliance with the witches, the barely defined Marauders to the cult-like stormtroopers there's a lot of potential for a very different Thrawn story.
I’ve always like the theory that MC’s are like algae. They are not the force, they are drawn to the force, like the way sunnier days make algae bloom, algae’s don’t generate sunlight. So your MC count is higher the stronger you are with the force, not that you are strong because of the MC’s
The simple, humble reveal of Ezra instead of some big action set piece was absolutely perfect. That's who Ezra was by the end of Rebels, matured from a cocky, bratty kid into someone self-sacrificing, quiet and gentle and most concerned with protecting nature, animals and the 'little people'
For this episode Dave and team just decided to write down a list of their favorite series’ and absolutely nail the vibe of each one?! Lord of the Rings, Game Of Thrones, Dune, Shakespeare, The Bible too I guess?.. And they made it Star Wars. Such a good episode! I’m too young to remember a pre cannon Star Wars, so I don’t have the same feeling of nostalgia here, but based on how I felt when Ahsoka was first reintroduced into live action, I’d say they did an amazing job with Thrawn, and I’m so happy for fans to finally get to see him come to life!
For me, this is the absolute best Star Wars reaction channel. I always have to watch your take on these new series. I learn as much from you as I do the show itself. Thank you for existing!
Sabine's "you wouldn't understand" line to Thrawn reminded me of how in the books Thrawn basically bet the fate of his Chiss world on his belief that he could maneuver the Emperor/the Empire to protect his people.
Hearing Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn again after all this time is just perfect, it's almost as if we're right back into the prime Rebels days...I couldn't help not being extremely giddy at his appearances 😅 ....this shows cast is crazy
This episode had everything- the Chimaera, Thrawn, Nightsister Mothers, Chirrut bodying Broom Boy, Ezra, Gladiator-faceplate trooper Enoch, the clean mass-shadow-absent hyperspace of the void between galaxies, a good boy, a Nightsister version of Jedha, whale graveyard, a possible canonical answer as to who is telling us "A Long Time Ago..." in every saga movie...
I love how Thrawn went to the Night Sisters and ask them to resurrect all of the dead stormtroopers on his ship to become his Night Troopers Army (Zombie Stormtroopers). Thrawn did ask the Night Sisters at the end of the episode for help by using their Dark Magic once again also the Night Troopers armor are very heavily battle damage and being held together by what looks like red fabric.
This series does not disappoint! From the storytelling, the stunt choreography, the amazing music, the absolutely killer cinematography, they did SUCH an incredible job on all of it!
Everyone else has already covered everything else I loved about the episode with how good Thrawn, Ezra and the adorable little hobbit hermit crabs are. So instead I'll just say how much I adore and find it hilarious that the raiders of this new galaxy we meet are essentially just samurai Tuskens.
Great episode, Ray was an amazing actor we lost a great one. You broke me with that "Home Schooled Jedi" Comment. This is where I come for my true star wars content

Man, this is why you'll always be the best Star Wars reactor, such a great memory and knowledge of Star Wars but also things like Kintsugi! I was going crazy when I saw the repaired stormtrooper armor with cracks of gold, such a fucking great aesthetic and truly makes his "army" one of his own, makes me think of like a Warhammer 40K army that he detailed. So fucking good. Also RIP Ray Stevenson, god everytime I see his cool ass I'm just saddened by the loss.
Qui Gon says to Anakin, concerning the midichlorians: "If you learn to quiet your mind, you will hear them speak to you!". I would say, if you have fewer M's, you need to train harder to make your mind even quieter but you can still learn to hear them. So, it has always been a combination of talent, training and spirituality.
The crazy thing about Thrawn's troopers - if you watch with captions on, they are called 'Nighttroopers' Very possible alot of Thrawns troops are like Marrock; risen by the Nightsisters
At the beginning... I was fanboying hard and was ready to pop some popcorn and grab a blanket for "Storytime with Huyang." I could see a series around that. I'm enjoying more detail regarding the Dathomirian Witches and their ways of connecting with the Living/Cosmic Force and all that is getting special attention. I totally love how, with one word or phrase, Filoni can alter the entire Star Wars canon (Bokken Jedi.) Wow. All the wolf-like visuals... all Filoni. But Thrawn... spot on about how one can tell that Lars is having an absolute blast playing this character in live action. It's just too cool for school to finally see him. Enoch reminds me of a character from Fallout: New Vegas. Legate Lanius. Kudos to the practical effects team, they are so talented. Ezra looks like his dad from the photo from Rebels. Last bit, a prediction... Thrawn wants to know all about Ahsoka including who her master was... tie in to Zahn's novel "Alliances."
I could imagine ezra sved the little guys from the samurai bandits some time ago and is kind of their protector, thats why they wear the rebel symbol out of respect. the fact that the cannot stay long at one playe I believe strengthens that point
This episode was amazing. Even without having seen Rebels, I could feel the emotions in Sabine and Ezra's reunion just through the strength of the actors' performances. And Thrawn was incredible. The scale of this episode made it clear just how much Star Wars as a franchise owes to Dune and Lord of the Rings; those influences were on full display here. Bendu's line about Ezra being the Radaghast of the Jedi was both hilarious and a deep cut, and once again I agree with Kyle in feeling so sad about Ray Stevenson's passing. Baylan Skoll is a fascinating character, and I wonder what he's hunting for on Peridea. Also, the music and sound design this episode were immaculate. Can't wait to see how this all wraps up!
The shore shuttle from the Eye reminded me of the ships in David Lynch's international of "Dune". The way Thrawn's star destroyer docks reminds me of Ra's ship and the pyramid in "Stargate". The knight sisters remind me of the witches in "Space Mutny". "We represent the lollipop guild". Love the new mount.

I think Andor is overall better quality. Though some scenes in this definitely match that level. But the story was better plotted in Andor. That being said, I think this was my favorate since the premiere. Thrawn was great to see.
Andor is a better quality production, but Ahsoka comes after it.
Nah Andor is still peak. Ahsoka has had 2 great episodes, 1 decent episodes, and 3 mediocre episodes
@ImTheReverse I'm sorry you haven't enjoyed all of it. For me, it has been 4 great episodes and 2 amazing ones.
24:17 is pure gold:
"What in the Jim Henson is this?"
"Oh my god, does that have a waistcoat on?!"
"He has a little fucking waistcoat on! He's like a little Hobbit man! A Hobbit-lobster-Ninja-Turtle."
It was such a purely new and unique yet old school Star Wars moment.
Shin blinked!!!!!! When discussing the burning of the temple! I saw it!!😂
In real life, a bokken is used as a substitute for a real sword, so a Bokken Jedi is a weaker substitute for the real deal, at least in Baylan’s eyes.
Yeah that makes more sense than 'broken' what I heard.
THrawn smiling during his introduction scene adds a good bit of confidence to his character; also did anyone else shiver in fear at that smile?
That shuttle looked like it came straight out of David Lynch’s DUNE. I love how everything Elsbeth brought is just so damn extra.
Yep, I also thought "that's an ornithopter".
Exactly what i thought while watching. Love that design.
OMG I love her. The actress delivers every line with so much quiet intensity, you don't know what she'd thinking but you can see on her face that she's reacting to EVERYTHING internally
@@Nergalsama01 I'm glad I'm not the only one, lol
Drip overload
That moment when Sabine sees Ezra hit me right in the feels!
I really love y’all’s review videos. Look forward to them every week
28:49 Those scars are from the season 1 finale, when the Grand Inquisitor scared him with his helicopter lightsaber.
I like the call out on Huyang being hard on Sabine when she’s around but defends her when she’s not….love it
Your reactions are what I wait for the most after finishing the Ahsoka eps. Haven't watch you guys before but I am enjoying it a LOT. Living in the woods working from home mostly can be a bit isolating even though it's nice.. but these reactions really help me feel less alone in the world
Check the back catalog for the reactions to other Star Wars shows. Kyle's knowledge of Star Wars is encyclopedic.
Regarding Ezra’s age, he was born on Empire Day, making him about the same age (within in days) of Luke and Leia
"It reeks of jedi" (Sabine Wren)
They didn't know her at all, but they sensed the jedi in her. She wasn't dressed like a jedi or carrying a lightsaber. She was just standing there. I take this as a confirmation that Sabine is a force sensitive jedi.
I loved her expression when they said that. She was looking around for who they could be talking about too.
It could be her training and trying to open up to the force, along with who is training Sabine, that they sense.
25:00 "What in the Fraggle Rock?" I lost it 😂😂😂😂
I’ve always like the theory that MC’s are like algae. They are not the force, they are drawn to the force, like the way sunnier days make algae bloom, algae’s don’t generate sunlight. So your MC count is higher the stronger you are with the force, not that you are strong because of the MC’s
The fact that Sabine has been acknowledged as a Jedi surprised the heck out of her
Maybe the Night mothers were a little off. They may have been sensing Balen and made an assumption that the woman in the binders was the Jedi.
In the subtitles they are called Night Troopers.
The simple, humble reveal of Ezra instead of some big action set piece was absolutely perfect. That's who Ezra was by the end of Rebels, matured from a cocky, bratty kid into someone self-sacrificing, quiet and gentle and most concerned with protecting nature, animals and the 'little people'
Every time from now on when I hear "long time ago in a galaxy far, far away" its Huyang telling a story to a new apprentice. Its my new headcanon.
“So is Ezra Bridger, like… a trailer park supervisor?” IM DEAD 😂
For me, this is the absolute best Star Wars reaction channel. I always have to watch your take on these new series. I learn as much from you as I do the show itself. Thank you for existing!
The dog creature had no idea how much of a badass Sabine was, so running made sense. Now he's wishing he'd had more information.
Yalls reactions and setup has by far been my favorite to watch! Keep the good work
This series does not disappoint! From the storytelling, the stunt choreography, the amazing music, the absolutely killer cinematography, they did SUCH an incredible job on all of it!
Grown up Ezra looks exactly like his dad did on Rebels. That's cool af 😊
Ezra looks so much like his dad now, looking back at Rebels.
Glad I wasn't the only 1 who thought of Spaceballs when Sabine was marching with the turtle/ hobbit people 😅😅😅
Everyone else has already covered everything else I loved about the episode with how good Thrawn, Ezra and the adorable little hobbit hermit crabs are. So instead I'll just say how much I adore and find it hilarious that the raiders of this new galaxy we meet are essentially just samurai Tuskens.
Great episode, Ray was an amazing actor we lost a great one. You broke me with that "Home Schooled Jedi" Comment. This is where I come for my true star wars content
he simply promised no harm would come to her, so far that has in fact been honoured
Always come to your reactions first so I can get that sweet sweet Star Wars detail from your watch! Keep kicking ass and enjoying this series as I am! Glad Dave has blessed us with this live action SW!
Night troopers... Wrapped in crimson night sister cloth... I can cross-franchise-hear McCoy saying "They're dead, Jim"
my top reactors - your enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the SW lore are unsurpassed. Always fun to watch!
I know I'm LOCKED IN with you guys when I have thoughts you guys literally speak on. When Bendu said the Purgill go straight RAINBOW BRIDGE....I WAS TELLING MY KID (who is THOR OBSESSED) THE PURGILL CAN NATURALLY ACCESS THE BI-FROST!!!! SHE LOOKED AT ME BUG EYED LIKE WHAAAAAAT!!!! Baylon's fall is going to hit me HEAVY. You can hear how flat out TIRED he is of the bullsh*t! AND when the Ring drops out of Hyperspace.....AMAAAAAZZZING.
That was Thrawn’s parlance for, “Call the ambulance. But not for me…”
"There are good boys in every galaxy."
Good God, what a perfect philosophy to live by.
I love that thrawn rarely blinks, its so intense.
Can we get a staring contest between Thrawn and Shin?!
He probably can't because of the contacts. 😀
Seriously though, yes it's cool.
No one else realize the great mother is Claudia Black??? I love her. Aeryn Sun was my favorite character she played. Farscape baby!
Claudia Black AKA Morrigan in Dragon Age/Admiral Xen in Mass Effect?
Just found out after reading these comments! How did I miss the great Claudia Black was in this!
I'm so excited for Ahsoka vs Thrawn. Those 2 are both smart and tactical in there own way. And him knowing Anakin is Darth Vader. gahhh I'm so excited
Chills during thrawn's entrance and tears at ezras return, we eating good lately
"there's good boys in every galaxy"
The term "Bokken Jedi" is used to describe Jedi trained in the wild after Order 66, referencing the use of Bokken swords in training. I absolutely loved this episode!
Thanks, Kyle! Thanks, Bendu! Thanks, Nerd Chronic! 🪐 Such gorgeous cinematography... and the music was even more amazing than usual. The design for 'Enoch' will inspire instant obsessions, I'd wager. #KyleKatarn #StarWars #JenniferGetzinger #Ahsoka

Everyone...I think Enoch is Starkiller!
Baylan to Sabine: "i have altered the deal. Pray i dont alter it further"
Edit: thrawn's night troopers are so fucking cool
25:38 a what jedi?
Damn that was an EPISODE! THRAWN arrival and entrance was badass! 👍
What in the Jim Henson in this might be the best line ever hahaha!
He legitimately looks and moves like Ezra. Well done.
The crazy thing about Thrawn's troopers - if you watch with captions on, they are called 'Nighttroopers'
Very possible alot of Thrawns troops are like Marrock; risen by the Nightsisters
would have loved to see their reaction if they had seen the name Nighttroopers in the captions :) #KyleKatarn
100K views for this vid!! Congrats!! This channel's passionate and witty reactions don't go unappreciated.
11:38 I first heard that line as "That is Druidia", and started to wonder if we've crossed over into Spaceballs.
The Chimaera looks a bit like a Venator with those chunks missing out of the side. Looks cool.
Claudia Black has such a commanding voice as Great Mother
Holy heck, how did I not pick up that the amazing Claudia Black was in this episode! Need to rewatch, NOW!
This was so good! We got them back! The looks and costumes looked great, I hope to see cosplay of that at conventions! What a ride this has been
I could imagine ezra sved the little guys from the samurai bandits some time ago and is kind of their protector, thats why they wear the rebel symbol out of respect. the fact that the cannot stay long at one playe I believe strengthens that point
15:07 confirmed! If he hears of it, he'll want to search for the World Between Worlds.
The repairs to the Stormtrooper armor is done in the same way with that one Japanese technique using gold to repair pottery
I’m not sure why but the shot when Balen leaves to go after Sabine and we see the tower and the Chimera reminded me of Dark Forces.
Boyyyyy I can't go to hell with y'all but Space Jesus had me weak! Haven't laughed that good in a while.
Such a good episode! Loved the world building and the way they're working towards an epic finale. Can't wait for more!
What a great day for Star Wars Rebels fans! So happy to see Ezra again!
Seeing Ezra made me cry. He looks so much like my late friend who I watched Rebels and Mandalorian with. He would've absolutely loved this show.
Im sorry for your loss. He's watching in the Force now ❤
@@KyleKatarnChannel He most definitely is.
