What a crime that we lost Ray Stevenson way too early. His prescence in this character is riveting. Whenever he is on screen you cant look away, you listen to every word. His movements, facial expressions, everything is perfect and so interesting.
He is, easily, the most compelling presence in this show... I realize that, to finish his arc, they have to recast... and that is a tragedy. No matter how good the "next Baylan" is, I'll spend every moment he is onscreen comparing him to Ray's performance, and wishing that he wasn't there.
@@JamesMalone-td2kyI hope they use some footage or CGI magic to have his first scene in S2 result in him getting injured. Then we can have him in a mask/helmet/breather from now on. A bit like Malgus.
Thrawn's introductory line is so good: 'what was first just a dream has become a frightening reality, for those that may oppose us.' Sums up pretty much how everyone feels both in-universe and us watching the show!
The fact you guys held off on posting these till the strike was over and then shared an episode a day to get it out to us asap sums up all that is sweet and pure about your channel. Good men doing good things. Very good. Very good indeed.
Fun easter egg that was only revealed yesterday on Instagram. Sam Riegel (Scanlan from Vox Machina/Critical Role) was one of the stormtroopers in this episode. His wife Quyen Tran was the cinematographer for all of S1 Ahsoka. (He's the one with the gray codpiece. Which I thought was hilarious.)
I was going to say that he was even oblivious to Adam trying to get his attention focused on it, so we should all not mention it further and make him find out like the rest of us did...
When the Preview'd content floods back after the SAG strike: "What was first just a dream has become a frieghtening reality for those who may oppose us."🎉🎉🎉
As someone who met Thrawn through both Animation (SW: Rebels) and Print (in the HTTE trilogy), it was a great live-action introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn. I never doubted Filoni for a minute. I'm happy to say that Timothy Zahn agrees. I have a feeling that Filoni is setting up that gap of 10 years in this new galaxy, so he and Zahn can make beautiful, mysterious, horrific, exciting tales together. Zahn says he is a willing conspirator/Mad Scientist with Filoni. Should be special to see. As always, a great, distinctive reaction, Jay and Adam.
Him saying "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away..." changes the context of all Star Wars content for me. It makes the stories more like a campfire story. Like that opening is a character. You can pretty much change existing canon if you wanted to because its told from someone's point of view. Like a game of telephone. "That's not how I heard it!"
actually having a tale told in the Star Wars universe with the opening of "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away" just warms my heart in a very special way.
I believe Baylans intentions with his quote was saying he missed the original idea and the code of the Jedi. But the thing that destroyed them was that they began to fall off from their own teachings and became hypocrites. They became politicians basically.
My favorite part of this episode was the pleasant suprise of seeing Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn. He is such a great actor. Like in just a craftmanship sort of way. He is just so good at what he does.
I just remember this episode aired right around the time you started doing the 'I know what Ezra smells like' bit in the Rebels rewatch so when the wolf-horse started sniffing the air a part of my brain was all...HE SMELLS EZRA! I miss Ray so much...his whole 'break the wheel' motivation actually reminds me of another Wheel of Time villain so keep that in mind :) But the way he delivered the 'I miss the idea of it...' line just hit me like a truck.
Fun Fact for my Critical Role fans: Sam Reigel is one of the Night Troopers that walked up with Thrawn and Enoch. His wife helped him get the part and he posted photos on his Instagram. But the whole Thrawn aesthetic is just so good. The gold accentuating the cracks in the ship and armor looks so good because, of course, Thrawn would turn his equipment and personnel into pieces of art.
Just because they didn't say how long it took, doesn't mean the trip between galaxies was short. Even within the main galaxy, hyperspace travel can take days or weeks (depending on how fast your hyperdrive is) but the shows and movies always make it seem like it's within hours. Great reaction, as always! I (and pretty much everyone else) agree with you about Baylan's character. He's so good and Ray Stevenson is sorely missed. Also, it was just revealed by Sam Riegel, that he was one of those Stormtroopers (known as Night Troopers). His wife is one of the cinematographers on Ahsoka and got him the opportunity to dress up and be a Night Trooper in this episode. Lastly, in case you didn't know, Huyang is almost as old as the Jedi Order itself (over 25,000 years old) and it's believed by some that he showed up at the Jedi Temple in a large blue box.
I do hope they expand on Enoch and show a reason why he is the commander and not a run of the mill trooper. Hell, all of thrawns troopers should act more like seasoned veterans like older Clone troopers
Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) has actually a family connection to Bruce Lee. She is a Martial Arts actor and that contributed to the best correographed sword fight I ever saw in Star Wars (Stay tuned for the finaly).
The sheer amount of Hocus Pocus memes that came out of this episode had me in stitches for days. Everyone was memeing the Great Mothers as the Sanderson Sisters. But that aside, THRAWN. He's just so intimidating and the perfect villain. This series was and is as GOLDEN as Captain Enoch.
Oh man there are so maby good things about this episode and revisiting it with you guys brought me a ridiculous amount of happiness. Your reaction to Thrawn’s entrance and absolute delight with the Noti and seeing Ezra again were such a pleasure to watch. Oh side note, that howler’s the best boy. Every univetse needs one. I remember this episode took me a while to get through because I had to keep pausing to freak out at everything and lose my mind several times over. But man that Thrawn entrance? That’s going to live rent free in my head forever and ever. I’ve rewatched it morevthan any other scene I think. And when we saw Ezra I literally yelled yes aloud. And I also agree that Baylan was right abouy the jedi and breaking the wheel. So here’s the thing. Episode 5 had better action and more emotional impact. But this episode had enough wow factor and the two reveals I’d been waiting for with the most anticipation. So because of that it equals episode 5 for me in terms of enjoyment factor. Also can we ackniwledge how freaking amazing the casting for Thrawn and Ezra is? I love it.
Admittedly this is the only Ahsoka reaction video I'm likely to watch from anyone, and then only specifically to see you guys's reaction to Ezra coming back. Missed my blueberry boy so damn much. Now imagine having to wait years for this kid to come back.
I love watching your reactions to this show - I had similar feelings about seeing a live action Thrawn after reading and absolutely loving the Heir to Empire trilogy as a kid 😭🤩
Interesting cameos: Enoch = Wes Chatham (Amos from the Expanse), main Dathomir mother = Claudia Black (Erin Sun from Farscape, Vala from SG1), one of mothers = Jane Edwina Seymour (Borg Queen).

Yeah, Baylon is just... the best, most compelling, and most interesting non-Jedi so far, and I'm not even sure he's a dark side user either. He will clearly do what he needs to to reach his goal, but he also doesn't indulge in anything beyond the bare minimum force needed for that and would clearly rather have a calm, rational discussion then a battle.
I was recently following about 6 different reaction channels doing Rebels before Ashoka release. And now after Ashoka have another 4 more. And about 5 different channels years ago. Seen every episode a couple dozen times at least.

Ezra's casting is SO PERFECT. Its the best of the show by a mile.
Except the contact lenses. They have the budget and technology to create whole environs but not to make eyeballs look real
I mean, apart from Thrawn, given that it's literally the same actor lol.
I would say Thrawn or young Ahsoka
I should have said that Ezra's the best casting besides Thrawn haha. Dare I say, Young Ahsoka is better casted than Rosario Dawson? @@ryanrauber5210
Can’t believe Jay missed the Kanan Jarrus-Jaycen info dump by Huyang because he was too busy riffing
If he doesn’t realize until Rebels series finale that would be hilariously amazing

i can
Needs to cut that down. he doesn't need to try and be funny every 10 seconds. just listen and react
He is usually more interested in himself and trying to be funny than the stuff he is reacting to.
