I don't know if you'll ever read this but I remember asking you back in the clatter days on if they would ever bring aboloff storyline in and they're going that route with the father in that storyline and you didn't like it do you feel that way now still
So the main goal was to not make thrawn come back to the main universe... And they did just that... They were better off just leaving Ezra there!! And are you kidding me with Baylen?? You tease him the whole series and you never pay it off? I get it, the father the son, I saw cws....but it was nothing.... It's all telling and no showing!!! I just don't get if thrawn is that dangerous, then just leave him. Why didn't Ezra sabotage the ship when he was on it.... And I wouldn't really worry about thrawn...he just walked for 3 episodes!! And he couldn't kill \3 people with an Army !! It was bad! Nothing happened
After the disjointed Sequel Trilogy, I’m just grateful that Dave Filoni seems to have a plan for the future of the Star Wars storyline, specifically for the Ahsoka series.
I think that Morgan let Sabine & Ezra walk past her for 3 reasons: #1 She couldn’t take all 3 of them alone. #2 She saw Ahsoka as the greatest threat of the three of them. And #3 she felt betrayed by Thrawn for making her the sacrificial lamb, so in her mind she didn’t give a crap if Sabine & Ezra boarded the ship or not.
People all over the Internet seem to have totally forgotten that Star Wars at its core, when it's good, is simply fun, pulpy, space fantasy. And this series delivered. If you dissect it too much, then of course you can tear it apart. As a star wars fan, idk what else you could want from this. And people also seem to be forgetting, this is a season finale, not a series finale. They left things open bc much more is coming. I loved this show, it has a direction, gave us so much new stuff, introduced the witches in live action wonderfully, and felt like the kind of SW I love
Morgan Elsbeth, Diana Insanto, is so talented and well trained, the actress is Bruce Lee's god daughter and the daughter of the legendary Dan Inosanto, an expert martial artist. I had been looking forward to this. Amazing.
I did find it cool seeing Ezra putting together his lightsaber. We don't often see that, so I thought it was a cool scene. Sabine, knowing how to use the force properly (might just me) was a bit confusing. I wish we had more Baylan& Shin in this episode (especially baylan) What can be said about Anakin? It's always a pleasure.
@alexp601 that's really interesting! I'll be honest, Star Wars history (outside of the movies and TV shows) is intimidating for me, because I wouldn't even know where to begin with "Canon"
@@alexp601 Ezra has had plenty of experience with building light sabers and in all of the content that I have seen, lightsaber creations are very casual, wave hand, force join pieces together which to me never shouts that it is dangerous. Hell, they let younglings build them..
From barely being able to move that light saber to being able to force push Ezra like she did was a big jump in a short time. The only thing that makes sense for that is that she did what Ahsoka told her to do, trust the force. She finally did it.
Hey, others habe their opinions and thats great. But for me, Ashoka as a whole was exactly what i wanted. Didnt love every aspect of everything. But as a whole, i love where everything is seeminly leading with the mortis gods. And all the lore created. I thought all the performances were great. Good choreography for the most part. In conclusion, im hype for what comes next.
@@zaneplatt3533not boring, stiff, ugly, and pointless. I typically also enjoy it when characters talk like human beings and not like they’re all suffering from a CTE.
Ya, I can get there...if only just. I think the struggle is she couldn't use it at all earlier in the show which wasn't that long ago (on the ship sabine couldn't force move the cup)
Yes. Force pull and push are two basic moves. For those who are saying that pushing Ezra is a bit of a stretch, remember what Yoda said in V: "No, no different. Only different in your mind." In Sabine's point of view, the Star Destroyer hanger isn't that far. "The longer you hesitate the harder it gets."
This all has to do with the MORTIS ARC from Clone Wars, Kristian. If you want to understand where this is all going, I would re-review those episodes. This is DEEP DEEP Filoni created lore about the origins of the force and some serious mystical baddies that could upend the entire universe. When Baylan said he was after a greater power, greater than the Empire or the Jedi, he was NOT kidding around.
Yes…but none of this was important enough to be Episode VII though. The most important thing after Jedi wasn’t Thrawn coming back or the origins of the force…it was Rey !!! 🤣
@@williamsteffey3434how do you know that this doesn’t set something up after Rey ? Baylen could be in this galaxy for a long time. I know you probably just have a “Sequel Trilogy bad” response.
@@alexp601I don't want to watch a show that has to spell out everything for normies and hold their hand. Don't understand something? Do your research.
I felt like Morgan new what was coming. Ahsoka. She looked scared and she had been beaten by her before. She knew she couldnt take 3 jedi on by herself so she let them go. And btw the nighttroppers were there waiting on ezra and sabine
I’ve been thinking about this and I wonder if Balen and Shin originally had more scenes, but they had to be chopped up due to Ray’s unfortunate passing. They may need to use it for the movie in lieu of his absence. They may have planned on more Balen scenes there, but since they can’t they need to hold some over from the show.
The lightsaber moves by Ashoka specifically feel wooden especially when they're surrounded by enemies firing at them and she appears to be blocking in slow motion
Why did she let them go through? Thrawn clearly stated multiple time that Ahsoka, pupil of Anakin, is the one he is mainly worried about and I think Elsbeth also knew, that she would probably outmatched against three, so she fought Ahsoka, to kill the true threat andl let the black troopers handle the other two. Made a lot of sense to me.All in all, I was happy with this final episode.
I'm shocked no one is talking about the huge implications with baylen and the mortis gods calling to him, like bro that's crazy and i didn't see it happening
Having now seen the finale, and watched a few people talk about the episode I think I know what Season 2 will be about. With Baylan coming up over that horizon with the Mortis statues behind him, I think Season 2 will follow our characters completing that storyline. That in turn would allow them all to travel back to the original galaxy where it then leads us to Filoni's movie where we see the battle between the New Republic and Thrawn's empire. Just a nice theory I have I wonder what everyone else thinks. Also again, RIP to Ray, I wish he was around to see the love of the fans and his storyline continue...
Ray Stevenson was so good as Baylon. I went to the Star Wars event in London in 2023, and when they were streaming one of the interviews Lars Mikelson (Thrawn) and Ray came out on stage. He seemed like such a decent guy. It's a real shame he's gone.
Great episode, I don't know why Kristian didn't enjoy it (besides missing the Father 😂). It was energetic, entertaining, fun, action packed, and definitely setup as a cliffhanger (duh). I loved that it was an episode where the bad guys win.
@@MisterMoncivais what was the cliffhanger exactly? cliffhangers need to provide an intriguing hook. I was interested in Baylan's motivation all the way up until we literally got zero payoff for it. That's not a cliffhanger. That's shoddy writing.
I love this finale...I like how Thrawn didn't fall into the basic villain troupes. Like how many times have we've seen a villain have a goal and they're underboss says "Sir we got what we want, we need to leave." and the bad guy says " I'm not leaving until protagonists name here is dead!" That's so silly. Thrawn had a goal, he knew trying to kill Ahsoka would open a chance he wouldn't be able to leave so he made the right moves to not beat her but leave. Thrawn is threatening not because he is cruel, just for being cruel or to spread fear, he is threatening cause he always sees the bigger picture, he isn't Vader...We need to stop trying to find a Vader replacement in Star Wars...
I don't know about the full powers thing, but let's not be quick to forget that she isn't a nobody that was just found and is suddenly facing these things. She has been facing a lot of shit throughout it the years, as well as battle with the darksaber. It's not like she hasn't seen combat and deadly ones at that. Only problems I personally have was the fact they did give her force powers, I still don't know about that, to have a mandalorian with force powers in itself sounds dangerous and a serious thing to setup and explore and not just give it to her like they did.
right away? She's been struggling with is all season. It took nearly being killed to finally tap into the force. Even then she only managed to use it twice, both times in desperation. She also couldn't keep up with using a lightsaber and had to rely on her blasters which makes sense, with her mandalorian tactics and a pair of blasters she's a very competent fighter
Right away? Did you not see the series or Rebels? Shes no mary sue. Shes struggled and has tried to channel it for a while now. But nobody bats an eye about weakling Luke as usual
So after this season, where Filoni was at the helm on a more direct level, I think he's revealed himself to be Lucas' true apprentice and successor for Star Wars in ways both awesome and positive but also some negatives as well. Much like George, I think maybe when he has too much control "close to the production line" (like GL on Return VS Empire) the end result is actually worse. I think he needs to be outlining and rough/first drafting the stories for both the shows and the long term movie plans BUT THEN they should bring in excellent writers to finalize the scripts and some great creative directors, cinematographers, etc. to really up the quality of the final product. In conclusion, I need to be made director of Lucasfilm immediately!!! Edit: I forgot to add that I agree with SW Theory on a lot of this season's fight choreography lacking punch so they really need to get a few good action and fight choreographers to up the ante there as well
The statues Baylan was standing on was the Mortis gods. Ahsoka and the gangs goal was to just get on the Star destroyer Fight choreo was pretty mid I agree SO HAPPY Shin and Baylan will continue on
This was a weird finale. Its like things happened but nothing happened at the same time. I feel like every secondary character in the show had better motivations, development, and emotional weight than ... Ahsoka. Overall a good show. But the finale felt flat. We knew Thrawn would escape so it wasn't surprising. I will say I think it was a mistake that I watched this Korean film "Witch" before watching this finale. Because that film was giving story, twists, and action. Which maybe altered my experience of this finale. 🙃
Kristian got it in his head "Thrawn's GOTTA win" before it started but he had preconceptions of what winning would be. Maybe he thought one of the good guys had to die but all Thrawn needs to do is get himself and his army of the undead back to the galaxy.
Kristian your reaction is exactly how I felt last night. The fights seemed like very rigid choreography. No fluidity to it. Nothing seemed natural. I hope that this regains the strength of the first 7 episodes next season.
I really enjoyed the action in this episode. Yes this was definitely a good setup for a movie or season 2. The only minor gripes I had were that Shin and Balin got shafted and only got 10 seconds of screentime at the very end, and there was a continuity error when Sabine lost her helmet while fighting. She clearly left it a few floors downstairs, and then later it magically appears a few feet from her on the roof where she picks it up.
It would NOT have made sense to take a detour in this episode to show what Shin and Baylan were doing. Not at all. The narrative at this point was about trying to stop Thrawn - racing against the clock to stop him. Baylan and Shin are irrelevant to that right now. Baylan took off last episode to do his own thing. It would have been bad plotting to distract from the urgency of going after Thrawn by deviating and showing them… what? Doing nothing relevant to this particular plot. It’s clearly a setup for season 2. As much we we might have liked Baylan and Shin, narratively they did not belong in this episode. Period.
I felt robbed from the proper closing of Baylan and Shin’s story. They were totally ditched. Inconsequential finale with no greater implications. Thrawn’s performance was great but in the end he didn’t really do much.
No greater implications? Baylan was standing on the status of the Mortis gods. It's clearly setting up for some deeeep force shenanigans, given they were 3 embodiments of the force. A lot of people seem to be hypothesizing Abeloth, or "The Mother", will be brought into canon by Baylan's journey. I can't say I disagree; that indeed seems plausible at this point. Either way, while Thrawn's arc is hopefully satisfactory, we also know it is somewhat stifled by the sequel trilogy, because anything he does can't be so impactful the world building that it makes any of the sequel stuff make any less sense; meanwhile, Baylan's arc is seemingly moving into cosmic territory and could be isolated to the current galaxy they're in. This gives Filoni all the room to create a menacing villain, while not impacting the "typical SW universe" and leaving people wondering why Luke or Leia, etc. weren't part of dealing with the threat.
@@livinginvalue1111This is all knowledge and speculation outside of what the series actually delivered. I like Ahsoka but it could have benefited of making better use of storytelling and dialogue to develop its characters and interactions.
Baylan Skoll was standing on a statue of The Father with The Son, and The Daughter behind. So it looks like Baylin's story and this planet is going to connect to The Mortis Gods.
Star Wars is about the Skywalkers. I get so tired of people saying it isn’t. Yes, we can have other original stories yet the expanded universe in the very beginning dealt with the adventures of the Skywalkers ands the generations of the future. Once you try to get away from that then Star Wars means nothing. It was because of the Skywalkers saga that we even know about the concept of the galaxy of Star Wars! Thanks George Lucas because once Disney took hold and everybody wanted to get away from the Skywalkers, it died! The was entertaining, wasn’t expecting anything spectacular.
Exactly. For me it still works if it's about characters connected to George's 6 movies around the same era, but outside of that it's not really SW anymore.
That spin move is the same he did in the Rebels season 3 episode (when we first see the green saber)... and of course the classic slingshot move ... when they first start fighting the stormtroopers ...
Absent Anakin I really struggled to connect with the protagonists of this series. Primarily because I didnt feel any accountability with character choices - most significantly Sabine. How many people are going to die because shebcouldnt let go of her attachment to Ezra - a lot. A lot of people are going to die because of her choice, and Ahsoka is just cool with that? Baylon Skull was the highlight of series for me, RIP Ray Stevenson. The Night Troopers are a big let down to me, they surrond Ahsoka during her duel with Morgan on the top of the structure and they dont just open fire on her? Huyang fixes the ship just in time? So many things just felt convenient for the sake of our heroes surviving, which is lame to me. Great content as always Harloff, you the man braddah
And that ship fired like thousands of shots at them while the trio were riding on those animals and missed every single shot, despite them riding in a straight line.
They needed to bring in a secondary character in the earlier episodes so you're invested in that character and devastated when Thrawn or the death troopers kill them.
They needed Thrawn returning to the galaxy , running into those three republic cruisers and just obliterating them in a masterful space battle. That was the last hope for them SHOW Thrawn’s badassness. Sadly this show failed on almost every front.
@@tarn1135 With one beat-up/bearly repaired Star Destroyer and limited forces? That would be a little too much of a stretch. His best course of action was to stay off the radar and bolster his forces with the Imperial Shadow Counsel and the witches, taking the cargo of corpses as planned to Dathomir.
@@Iwillone with one best up Star destroyer defeating 3 republic cruiser would absolutely show him to be a great tactician. Hell the droids or Morgan for that matter would’ve told him the new republic would be alerted after seeing the x-wings and the ghost right before they jumped to the other galaxy. Yes, lying low and marshaling your forces is the smarter move but when you’re out gunned and unable to flee that’s when you shine or sink. Remember hyperspace travel isn’t like flying in an airplane, you can only go certain places on certain paths. That’s why you need established “safe routes “ and as far as we know peridia (or whatever the name of the planet is) is the only safe destination until you get there. Given Thrawn’s tactical intelligence and ability he would/could believably defeat those ships, even in a beat up ship. That’s what makes him so dangerous.
This is the problem with let someone who created the property conduct property everything just felt so safe so when those steaks and anything it just felt middle-of-the-road
I loved that Sabine's training has paid off and because she believes in herself due to her master believing in her and trusting the force is it finally responding to her after all it's taken 10 plus years to get her to this point
I realize my issue with this finale comes down to it being disneyfied. the best example is when Ezra cuts the head off the zombie they hide the cut even though your allowed to do that for zombies and undead and monsters under the rating that Ashoka has. It just feels like disney is afraid to commit to violence which makes me extra extra worried for Daredevil Born again, ESPECIALLY if punisher is returning. Also why do the last episode for all disney plus shows feel underwhelming, (aside from Loki and Mando s2 finale with the kang and Luke big reveals because they were major big deal reveals that felt essential to watch, whilst the rest just feel like half cooked. I think if this final episode was 20 minutes longer and really set the stage for whats coming next. why not show them resurrecting the dead army on dathomir and end the show with Ezra warning Hera about Thrawn but uh oh its too late Thrawn is already attacking them and it end the show saying "Thrawn will return"
@@TheKristianHarloffwhat about when anakin literally gets both legs and an arm chopped off, then gets set on fire as we watch him melt… not saying it always has to go there, but that was something Lucas did. I also felt some restraint here - which in turn left me feeling no threat from the villains. Like you said, how do you miss two space wolves and some turtles with your literal rainstorm of artillery. there was zero sense of danger or peril this whole episode.
@@TheKristianHarloff I agree with you about Filoni. I mean the Disney restrictions. Specifically when Ezra chops the head off the zombie trooper. There was no reason to hide that behind a pole.
@@skellyballs You think showing that violence would have suddenly increased the quality of the finale? That is a sad and juvenile way to look at things.
Thrawn is a tactician. He has one goal: get off the planet. He achieved it with minimal cost on his end. I was happy with how it all went down, I like this style of villain, didn’t need a big flash, showcase of power, or a stroke of ego that yes I’m going to satisfied if my enemies are dead. Thrawn won, he ran out the clock and is free, and that is terrifyingly awesome for next part of the story
This is not thrawn from the books he is making nothing but bad calls. This is a terrible vallian nothing about him speaks master mind. If he wanted to get off, he could have just left. Load up call the ring down destroy the bridge and leave.
Dave Filoni loves old Japanese Samurai films. When the antagonist meets the protagonist, the A ignores those who pose no threat and leaves them to their lackies. Very Japanese.
Mandalorian s1 and 2 had more energy and excitement. Each character introduced was interesting. I wished Ahsoka continued that excitement, instead this felt like the zombie Storm Troopers had more life than the main characters.
I really liked this finale. Much more than last week's episode to be honest. One thing Dave Filoni really needs to work on that really bothered me last week is that he seems to avoid writing characters opening up to each other. Last week was basically just Ezra catching up on galactic history. At least in this one we finally learned more about Ahsoka and Sabine's relationship, although it should've come from one of the two themselves last week, or even before that, and not as exposition from Huyang in the finale. But the fight scenes made up for it a bit, in my opinion. I felt like the fights last week weren't edited very well. Way too many quick cuts. The fights in this one felt a lot more dynamic, especially the one between Ahsoka and Elsbeth. Thrawn not killing any of the main characters didn't bother me. I get that it would have been an effective way to establish him as a terrifying villain, but it just wouldn't feel right to kill off any of the big three in the first season. If any of them are gonna die, I doubt it would happen before the movie. It's unfortunate that Shin and Baylan were written out of the episode, apart from the ending, especially considering the entire show opened with them, and this being Ray Stevenson's final performance of course, but I'm still very interested to see what they're gonna do with them in the future. The way it ended definitely begs for a second season.
My random prediction is Skeleton Crew is about going to get Ahsoka and Sabine bc Ezra and Hera can’t do it and that’s why they are important to the plot moving forward. Just a guess
@@virtualrealityfitness283The views will get better from decent to good word of mouth. It's not the show's fault that Kenobi, Book of Boba, Mando s3 etc were bad and people checked out.
Sets up season 2 also a stand alone or trilogy of all the shows in one or 3 films Ahsoka, Din and Bo fighting Thrawn... cliff hanger is how these films were inspired to Lucas based on how cinema was in the 50's & 60's but instead of waiting a week we wait for a year for a while. if a trilogy even longer for it to be cancelled.
This show was textbook plot-first writing. Characters only reacted to things; they never behaved proactively. Events happened because the plot required them to happen and characters went a long with it, rather than trying to affect it. Not a single character did anything surprising or unexpected, except when they behaved stupidly out-of-character for the sake of the plot.
Im schocked at your disdain for this finale. It was the most adult Star Wars content we got! Live action night sisters witches magik, actually undead troopers (something fans have been dreaming of for decades). Ezra's fighting was epic. Him building a lightsaber that was linked to Kanan is beautiful. Admiral Thrawn actually did something devastating to the good guys. Hera meeting Ezera was beautiful as well. Why are you salty? it makes no sense to me. Stop letting your expectations get the best of you.
Salty is a silly choice of word. Get this, you liked it more than me! That is awesome! I am glad you dug it. LOVED the Kanan conversation. "Thrawn did something to the good guys." Um what? Run away? Hera meeting Ezra, good moment with silly trope of wearing the helmet. But again, thrilled you dug it!
@@TheKristianHarloff I don't think it's a silly trope. It's actually very STAR WARSY. That was a theme in Clone Wars and Rebels. Of Coarse Ezra would learn from the past. I think it's perfect.
'Most adult Star Wars" ? Only Andor can lay claim to that prize & by some margin too. Ashoka has been good but the finale was disappointing. It's essentially a cartoon show in live action which I don't have a problem with. The show definitely suffered for it though.
Feels like Ahsoka season 2 will be about Ahsoka training Sabine and fighting Ray Stevenson’s character with intermittent episodes going back to Ezra and team fighting Thrawn and plotting to go get Ahsoka.
My daughter and I enjoyed this episode. We have really enjoyed the whole series. This episode was fun and creepy. Love the Night sister stuff, Ezera building light saber and the info we found out about Ashoka and Sabine, although that may have been better if it was conversation between Sabine and Ashoka. Definity left a lot of un answered questions but setting up for next season and Mando and the movie. Baylon standing on the mortus fathers statue finger pointing to a light in the distance. Mori shows up for Ashoka at the end. Cool stuff. Enjoyed it. going to be watching it several more times. sucks we have long wait for season 2 and Mando and the movie. Dave has a long game plan. have some faith in it. can't wait.
While I had no problem with the written plot points in this finale, I thought some more time and polish in execution were needed but I was left satisfied with it, giving a 3.5/5 for the finale. That said, it was a finale that was written with the intention of doing another season so it will be tense waiting for the news to come. Definitely another great addition to the Star Wars lore and another great step forward for Dave Filoni despite some lingering issues. Those who have watched both Clone Wars and Rebels will be fully awarded, but those who haven’t will be given a challenging learning curve to overcome but still have the enjoyment given to them. I give this series so far a 4.3/5.
Ahsoka S2 should actually be called “Thrawn” and the initial focus of it should be on Thrawn and his forces as he starts merc’ing New Republic, and associated, forces. Then we come back to Ahsoka, Sabine, Baylan and Shin. I’m fully expecting Ahsoka and Sabine to make their way back via the World Between Worlds.
Thrawn's goal was to escape not to win the battle outright. Military Priorities. The entire goal as was prevent Thrawn's escape and bring Ezra home. The protagonists achieved 1 goal and failed another. Baylan and Shin arent the main threat of season 1. They were being saved for bigger things in S2. Its setting up the movie and season 2. This is a bittersweet Empire Strikes Back style ending. Not everything needs to be wrapped up in a bow.
The statues are the Father, Son and a headless Daughter. The guardians of the WBWs. THAT is their avenue home. It's what Baylon was sensing. But he doesn't have a means to enter. Ahsoka has Morai and maybe Anakin.
It seemed like a lot of the moments that were supposed to feel substantial just didn't. The zombies, morgan vs ahsoksa (there was no emotional underpinning for that fight), them being stranded, Shinn going to the marauders etc. Most of it is honestly a good idea on paper and leaves things open for a good season 2 but boy was this just not a good episode of TV in terms of execution.
The average person does not know or give a shit about mortis or thrawn or any other filoniverse invention. He’s starting drinking his own Kool Aid after years of attending celebration and fan events where everyone there loves him and knows everything about his cartoons. Watching Star Wars feels like homework now, it’s ridiculously stupid the amount of control they’ve conceded to the cartoon guy. Not to mention Favreau who is even worse at writing dialogue than Filoni and that’s saying something.
Weren’t those the mortis gods carved into the mountain? If that’s the case isn’t that a bigger issue than Thrawn? I agree I liked aspects of the episode but on a whole it seemed flat to me. What do you think kristian?
I don't know, I thought the finale was quite good. However, I did find it strange that Sabine was able to use the force to send Ezra up onto the ship as if she's been an expert at it for years when she just finally learned how to use it. As for Morgan letting Sabina and Ezra go, she probably assumed the storm troopers and witches would handle them. Besides, she had a personal vendetta with Ahsoka and wanted to focus on her.
I’d give the series an 8.5/10 it was a good story with some great characters, excellent use of the Star Wars lore that’s been established. Could’ve used a bit more with the ending but the anakin ashoka dynamic, thrawn and Baylon were some highlights!
The series as a whole is floating on a 6.9 out of 10 for me. *Spoilers* Pros: * Thrawn, Ezra, & Baylan, are compelling characters, and shine here. I don't take points off of Thrawn for being very timid against going full force at Ahsoka because she is the student of Anakin/Vader, because the losses would become unacceptable if he threw the kitchen sink at her. Also, your point about the ship attacking the Rebels crew, those were meant to hit starships, not people. It's like trying to thread a needle with a ship's anchor chain. * Special Shout-out to Huyang and Chopper. * Cinematography. I really liked a lot of the backdrops, especially the forest on Seatos, and the shipyard on Corellia, and a lot of shots really build depth. * Lore building of the Dathomir sisters & mothers are bringing the fantasy into this Sci-Fantasy epic. * Anakin - self explanatory. He is done perfect. Cons: * Rosario Dawson (whom I legitimately love), was very stiff in both acting and choreography. I'm not sure if she couldn't be fast and agile because of the head piece, but she felt very slow and her fighting was not compelling. The dialogue was absolutely flat, and not realistic. She is being portrayed as very stoic, reserved, and sage-like, and it just doesn't work. We don't need a Master Splinter, we need a Leonardo. Either way, the fights are just very meh. * Sabine was just wildly unlikable. I don't blame the actress, I blame the writing. I watched all of Rebels, but this is 9 years later, and she still seems like she's 17. I also felt a lot of time was wasted on her in the early episodes, when there was no growth except for getting a bit better at the force. * Not so much a con, but man I really hate the portrayal of the Republic. I despise that they have to be shown as wildly incompetent due to the sequel trilogy. It makes you WANT to root for the Empire. All-in-all, the show was very mid, as the kids say. I hope Baylan is recast into a mask. I feel like they are going to go the ways of Exar Kun with him, and possibly have him tainted by a Freedon Nad type character (Old Republic Legends stuff). I just hope they give him a mask or something. I can't deal with a recast where you can see it's a completely different person.
How did you not recognise The Father that Baylan was standing on? Also, I'm nit picking here but why ask how the star destroyer didn't them, but there was 3 force wielders riding on the wolves?? I loved it personally. Sorry you didn't man.
The entire show was a filler looking back at everything. They shouldn’t have just saved thrawn for the last episode or totally cut him from the show. He didn’t do anything
There were a few things I didn’t like in this episode but I really enjoyed the majority of it. I like that they left things open for the future. I never expected everything to be resolved in this one season, but the goal of the villains was to get Thrawn back, and the goal of the heroes was to get Ezra back and those were both accomplished. And there’s clearly more to do on this planet, especially with the Mortis stuff they seem to be moving toward with Baylan.
So much happened Kristian. There’s so many things that Star Wars fans love to see. The Ahsoka vs Morgan fight was really epic, one of the best duels I’ve ever seen in Star Wars. And Sabine finally opening up and using the Force was perfect IMO. She was blocking herself so once she LET IT GO the floodgates opened between Ahsoka standing by her and her BEST FRIEND she’s done ALL this for , believing in her! Emotionally it makes total sense to me. Turbolasers… are brute force lacking in precision. You’ve watched Star Wars a long time but don’t understand Star Destroyer turbolasers? Okay We got to SEE a Jedi, Ezra, build a lightsaber that ties back to his master that we then got to talk about! We never get that! I think their own expectations of certain Star Wars fans basically ruins a lot of these shows for people. I really don’t get it anymore. It’s either amazing or terrible. I loved it but there’s always things to nitpick or discuss as flaws but I just find most of the criticisms to be lacking. Like many fans I’ve really loved the new characters, particularly Baylon and Shin. Would I have liked to see them more, of course! That’s not the story they were telling. It’s a shame Ray Stevenson passed away and won’t be able to continue as this character as he was outstanding… but Baylon’s story will continue.
@TheKristianHarloff how did you feel about the short lightsabers?
The witches chanting reminded me of the charm of making from Excalibur
After the disjointed Sequel Trilogy, I’m just grateful that Dave Filoni seems to have a plan for the future of the Star Wars storyline, specifically for the Ahsoka series.
Honestly, for me half of the the live action shows he made was lame.
@@Hellsing7747 pretty sure this is the only one filoni was the lead on
A boring and uninteresting plan, but a plan lol.
The views are lower the Andor
Hopefully he gets help with writing, he might be overstretched
I think that Morgan let Sabine & Ezra walk past her for 3 reasons: #1 She couldn’t take all 3 of them alone. #2 She saw Ahsoka as the greatest threat of the three of them. And #3 she felt betrayed by Thrawn for making her the sacrificial lamb, so in her mind she didn’t give a crap if Sabine & Ezra boarded the ship or not.
Long live head cannon!
Star Wars fans and their head canon
So dumb if Ezra, Ahsoka, and Sabine teamed up they would have killed her so quick
Zombies or the Borg
It’s a show… That’s the only reason. It doesn’t need to mean a ton. Does her letting them go really change the story?
People all over the Internet seem to have totally forgotten that Star Wars at its core, when it's good, is simply fun, pulpy, space fantasy. And this series delivered. If you dissect it too much, then of course you can tear it apart. As a star wars fan, idk what else you could want from this. And people also seem to be forgetting, this is a season finale, not a series finale. They left things open bc much more is coming. I loved this show, it has a direction, gave us so much new stuff, introduced the witches in live action wonderfully, and felt like the kind of SW I love
It was the Father and the Son carved in the mountain... The Daughter is missing...
I wish we had more Baylan& Shin in this episode (especially baylan)
What can be said about Anakin? It's always a pleasure.
Indeed, I feel like this had a touch of the Iron Man 2 syndrome. Decent story with a few issues but its primarily just a bridge to another project.
Ezra was the most useless character in all of Star Wars
Hey, others habe their opinions and thats great. But for me, Ashoka as a whole was exactly what i wanted. Didnt love every aspect of everything. But as a whole, i love where everything is seeminly leading with the mortis gods. And all the lore created. I thought all the performances were great. Good choreography for the most part. In conclusion, im hype for what comes next.
I feel similarly. While Andor is a bit more my style of TV, Ahsoka does a really good job of making Star Wars fun and magical.
Yeah but imagine if it was also good.

Ahsoka trained Sabine in the basics of Force use but she was not able unlock the usage until the finale. She knew the basics.
Exactly. They made that pretty clear. Not sure why some people didn't pick up on that.
Ya, I can get there...if only just. I think the struggle is she couldn't use it at all earlier in the show which wasn't that long ago (on the ship sabine couldn't force move the cup)
@@robGwaldoepisode 4 she used a really weak push on shin (it turned her head but you could hear the whoosh sound when use the force)
@@robGwaldo Finding Ezra and making ammends with Ahsoka was enough for her to clear her mind.
The Tie Fighter sound and the Imperial Alarm on their ships….so iconic!! Can’t wait for the Sith Council and Geek Buddies review!!
This all has to do with the MORTIS ARC from Clone Wars, Kristian. If you want to understand where this is all going, I would re-review those episodes. This is DEEP DEEP Filoni created lore about the origins of the force and some serious mystical baddies that could upend the entire universe. When Baylan said he was after a greater power, greater than the Empire or the Jedi, he was NOT kidding around.
yes would love Kristian to react to those CW episodes lol
Yes…but none of this was important enough to be Episode VII though. The most important thing after Jedi wasn’t Thrawn coming back or the origins of the force…it was Rey !!! 🤣
@@williamsteffey3434how do you know that this doesn’t set something up after Rey ? Baylen could be in this galaxy for a long time. I know you probably just have a “Sequel Trilogy bad” response.

Perfect thumbnail Kristian, sums the whole season up perfectly and wordlessly!
Exactly. It's a trope from classic Japanese Samurai films and it's also used in Anime.
I'm shocked no one is talking about the huge implications with baylen and the mortis gods calling to him, like bro that's crazy and i didn't see it happening
Surprised you werent more hyped for the Mortis Gods statues.
4:28 is a nod to “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” 😊
How did Harlfoff not realize that was the father and the brother from Mortis?
The Morris Arc was my favorite Clone Wars episodes and I didn't catch it right away either. When I did it looked so epic

Can’t wait to see where this goes next. Loved it. Seeing the states of Mortis gods was amazing.
At least somebody gets it!
Sabine having full powers right away and taking on a whole platoon dead troopers with Ezra was too much.
Just like Luke fighting prime sith lord after 2 days of training! That shit is too much if u ask me.
Right away? Did you not see the series or Rebels? Shes no mary sue. Shes struggled and has tried to channel it for a while now. But nobody bats an eye about weakling Luke as usual
Brain dead take
So after this season, where Filoni was at the helm on a more direct level, I think he's revealed himself to be Lucas' true apprentice and successor for Star Wars in ways both awesome and positive but also some negatives as well.
Ahsoka and the gangs goal was to just get on the Star destroyer
Fight choreo was pretty mid I agree
SO HAPPY Shin and Baylan will continue on
This was a weird finale.
Exactly!! Saw both Witch films!!!
I get a feeling the boxes loaded onto Thrawn's ship could be full of sleeping nightsisters.
Roberty Myer Burnett should play Baylan going forward
😂
Hahaha ya everytime Ray was on screen ( RIP legend) I always said that Rob would be a good replacement. Probably because of the white beard. 😭😭
23.5 seconds screen time combined
Period.
@@daveed1750it was just the beginning and I can’t WAIT to see what’s next. RIP Ray!
If I had a dollar for every time I felt tension watching this finale, I would have zero dollars.
Baylan Skoll was standing on a statue of The Father with The Son, and The Daughter behind. So it looks like Baylin's story and this planet is going to connect to The Mortis Gods.
How did Harloff not recognize that?
Yessir
I would’ve like to have seen them all stranded and eventually find a world between worlds connection on the planet to return to their galaxy
Thrawn needs to do something catastrophic, instead of lose, retreat and claim it as some sort of overall victory.
I loved that Sabine's training has paid off and because she believes in herself due to her master believing in her and trusting the force is it finally responding to her after all it's taken 10 plus years to get her to this point
This episode was great. Much better than last week's.
I think if this final episode was 20 minutes longer and really set the stage for whats coming next. why not show them resurrecting the dead army on dathomir and end the show with Ezra warning Hera about Thrawn but uh oh its too late Thrawn is already attacking them and it end the show saying
"Thrawn will return"
Oh my god. You are going on a bit 🤣
Nah not "Disneyfied" Filoni sticks by Lucas handbook. He always does. Unfortunately I think that hurts and much as it helps.
How did Ezra get off Thrawns ship? Wouldn't there be an alert that a ship was leaving?
Well that would make Skelton Crew worth watching then because right now I couldn't care less about it.

Where’s the announcement for season2 I haven’t seen one and views on Nelson are terrible

Dave has a long game plan. have some faith in it. can't wait.
THRAWN’s ship should have decimated some new republic ships in the home galaxy before the ending and then Luke opens his eyes
Baylen is on his own journey so i get Him not being around... But Shin was just wasted
Remember the movie Dave Filoni is making will be the wrap up of all the stories of Rebels,Mandalorian,Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka
Ezra is my FAVE jedi. I just love that kid!
If they do a season 2 which they should who would u recast as baylon?
Thrawn's goal was to escape not to win the battle outright. Military Priorities. The entire goal as was prevent Thrawn's escape and bring Ezra home. The protagonists achieved 1 goal and failed another. Baylan and Shin arent the main threat of season 1. They were being saved for bigger things in S2. Its setting up the movie and season 2. This is a bittersweet Empire Strikes Back style ending. Not everything needs to be wrapped up in a bow.
The statues were the Mortis gods from TCW meaning the power that called to Baylan has something to do with them
The statues are the Father, Son and a headless Daughter.
The guardians of the WBWs. THAT is their avenue home.
It's what Baylon was sensing. But he doesn't have a means to enter. Ahsoka has Morai and maybe Anakin.
They accomplished exactly what was needed and prevented Ahsoka and the team from stopping him from leaving. So yeah I think you’re just nitpicking.
gotta love the "disapprove" thumb nail.
guess i will wait for Jedi Council and get the double anger ? lol
Loved this series and it could easily set up Geroge Lucas' original idea for a sequel trilogy and the Heir to the Empire
How did Ezra escape the star destroyer?
baylen is going for force god powers, they had the images of the mortis force gods on that mountain
Do we still care about the viewers who purposely do not watch the content only to complain about a series with the info? Can't waiiiiiiit!?
My big issue with the season as a whole was that it was more setup for future movies and shows as opposed to telling a satisfying story on its own.
Recast Baylan with Gerard Butler
Abeloth!!
This episode cured my insomnia.
I’d give the series an 8.5/10 it was a good story with some great characters, excellent use of the Star Wars lore that’s been established. Could’ve used a bit more with the ending but the anakin ashoka dynamic, thrawn and Baylon were some highlights!
The statues were the father, daughter, and sister.
The series as a whole is floating on a 6.9 out of 10 for me.
*Spoilers*
Pros:
* Thrawn, Ezra, & Baylan, are compelling characters, and shine here.
Cons:
* Rosario Dawson (whom I legitimately love), was very stiff in both acting and choreography.
Baylan hanging out on the Argonath from Lord of the Rings
Glad to see we get more Baylan RIP Ray Stevenson
Remember when Star Wars was about space, samurai and war, and not about space magic, and zombies.
ahsoka feels like a side character in her own show lmao
The entire show was a filler looking back at everything. They shouldn’t have just saved thrawn for the last episode or totally cut him from the show. He didn’t do anything
let down seemed like age of ultrom setting up more than it resolved
Okay
We got to SEE a Jedi, Ezra, build a lightsaber that ties back to his master that we then got to talk about!
It’s an 8 episode show where the balance of the Galaxy just changed completely, we’re going to get so much amazing story to follow. Patience
I digress
It feels like Dave Filoni wanted to say…Let’s have everyone in an uproar on the finale and put everything Star Wars Fans hate and talk about on these platforms! He definitely landed it!!!😂😂😂😂😂 #2fingertoots4Eva!
Asoka and team are probably gonna return back to the Star Wars galaxy through the world between worlds with Anakins help ..
It seem Thrawn plan was to stall for time using minimal resource to do it.
I lost it at “kill the turtles”. Lol
