In this video, 1A Auto demonstrates how to replace a broken, damaged or burned out license plate bulb. This video is applicable to a 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, Toyota Camry.

Thank you for explaining this procedure. However, for 2015-17 Camrys (after the midcycle facelift), it's not necessary to remove the trunk liner and go in from the back side. The 2015-17 models have a black "garnish cap" on the outside (for both the left and right lamps). The cap can be removed (carefully) with a flat-bladed screwdriver, as explained in the owner's manual. Once the cap is off, use the same screwdriver to pry off the lens. Then the 194 bulb is exposed and can be changed.
If you have the 2015-2017 Camry, there’s a black piece of trim holding in the plastic light assembly on the outside.
You’ll have to pry it off with a flat head (with tape to prevent scratching)

You can use 194 or 168 bulb. By the book it is 168

Thank you for the video sooo much, 🙏🏽🙏🏽very helpful , anyone doing it don’t be afraid to be really firm with the disassembling. 2015 Toyota Camry Fun Fact...u have to remove outer piece ( around the light on the outside before you remove( push up) the whole bulb cartridge on the inside( if that makes sense) .

just to replace bulb dont do all of that just go to the end of video ..pop off black rim surounding cear plastic lens . the pop lens off also...

A needle nose plier worked really well to get the housing back in-easier than using a screwdriver.

I’m just trying to replace the tag. Why are there bolts with the tag screws? A bolt requires you to be on both sides. Do I need to remove the body trim clips to get to the bolt side?
It the left and right side of the the parts are they looks the same or different?.

Very good video! Thank you for the help. Toyota makes very good cars, but there are a few things I could "slap" their engineers about when it comes to having to replace parts like this! The oil cartage assembly is one and this license plate light assembly is another.

Most manufacturers make it so you can remove ONE screw on the outside and swap the bulb... Toyota wants you to disassemble half the trunk...

Bulb can be replaced from outside for 2017 model without taking the trunk liner off. You way is VERY time consuming.
This tinny light is so frustrating to replace. They need to do better
The bulb twists out , you don’t have to pop off the cover. Just use pliers and push up and twist. Please give me some likes 😂
168 bulb and you dont have to do all that.
I'm not paying $30 for a trim tool set. Like someone already said, use a screw driver covered with tape.
