I honestly love that Steel Axe research is still in the game, I remember playing through the game way, way back when axes were a consumable item and you had to collect artifacts or whatever from biters to make Alien Science. The game has come so far in that time
1:14 First thing I really like is how ghosts are much easier to recognize now. I think we’ve all been there were we miss an inserter or something because we see the ghost and assume its placed already.
I believe that the space science in space step has been simplified since this was recorded. No uranium is needed anymore, and the whole satellite step has been entirely removed. Now you just have to manage a few trigger technologies until science in space runs as you'd expect
11:08: Assuming the difference between an imperial inch and a metric inch is the same as that between an imperial ton and a metric ton, one metric inch is roughly 2.8 centimeters. One thousand metric inches would therefore be about 28 meters, and thousands of metric inches might be somewhere around the length of one American football field (an uncommon SI unit).
I think a metric inch might just be an inch defined according to the SI system. So 1 in = 2.54 cm exactly, which is now the standard definition of an inch. A non-metric inch would be based on other physical constants or reference objects than the SI metre.
Your ore-on-the-inside furnace stacks will never cease to cause great pain to me. I know you've said in the past you prefer the look of them. But trying to get a full belt of plates out only half a belt of ore is crazy!

4:50 Idk why but I got soo triggered when he said that he was going to clear the florest with fire Some tress keep alive and generate a lot of pollution, LoL, good video is very well edited
As of full release, space science packs do *not* require uranium-235 as an ingredient, making space science way easier to produce as all ingredients are found with simple asteroid crushing.
This is the culmination of a 4+ year wait. By the look of it, the base game is designed to seem similar, but seems like there's so many new features to make certain annoyances less annoying and things like the research queue now feel fully integrated rather than being an afterthought. Can't wait to play this myself!
If you start feeding the furnaces from the outside belts and output inside the throughput issue will go away. You have 2 full belts on the outside, use only half of each, and then output onto a half belt in the middle. I recommend using the outside belts for iron ore and coal. Giving you a total of one belt ore input and one belt plates output.
Having this divided into a Nauvis video actually helps me crystallize my own spoiler policy. I've been struggling with whether to read the last couple FFFs before release, but finding myself unable to stay away. I think what I'll do is make sure my first real experience of the new environments is my own. So, no vids beyond Space Age Nauvis before I've gotten there myself. See you in a month.

You can play without space age in theory, but I think the achievements are shared, so, I guess there will be w flood of ppl getting the achivment. Especially since a lot of ppl will want to go to new planets fast, so they will actually rush the rocket harder.
well you don't need purple or yellow science anymore and you only need 1/10 of the resources for rocket parts. so yeah should be much simpler, though there will probably be a more difficult achievement
@@DocJade Oh wow, that's substantially quicker. I wonder if I can manage it in the next few days before it's all changed, I've not launched a rocket in years lol so I'm incredibly rusty.
I'm hoping to avoid most videos on space age between the embargo and release, but this one focusing on just Nauvis was fairly spoiler-light, so it wasn't a big deal. Probably won't be watching subsequent videos though.
@@pulsefel9210 not really. why not accumulators, engineer equipment, bots, assemblers, modules or vehicles for example.. with science you have a CHANCE to create more science with quality but with prods and speeds you are QUARANTEED to get more. Do we have the ability to Ctrl click on quickbar slots to quick insert? Or Ctrl click on modules to quick replace already installed modules? Or flip/mirror blueprints with chemical plants in?
I think they did that so that new players would use quality modules only for the end of the production chain, where it is a lot more effective. And maybe so that it is more obvious to players when qualities get mixed, which is usually undesirable. But it would be nice if they added an option for the recipe to take any quality of items. Doing it it with different recipes is also easier to program, so maybe they haven't finished the mixed version yet.
@@edomeindertsma6669 From what I've seen, quality modules are more effective in _earlier_ stages of a production chain, unlike productivity modules which are more effective in later stages.
I think it also makes sense given that quality ingredients are relatively hard to get, you have to make a deliberate setup to get them. And people get VERY annoyed if they saved up a stack of quality ingredients, and accidentally put them in a standard recipe, wasting them all.
@KeppyKep also, since items of different qualities don't stack, you can have an assembler waiting for five legendary modulesafter one enters for example.
I read on r/technicalfactorio that it was to prevent an exploit with productivity, where you would use normal ingredients for all but the last bit of prod, and then using quality items for the last bit would give you a quality prod bonus.
