    Does bass playing get any better than this?? no one comes close to Pino- groove, timing,note choice, fills, taste, licks! Masterful!

      Absolutely. This song would be a lot different without him.

      Man, that's exactly what I was thinkin' ... except for Lee Sklar: he'd have been right in there too, man. *Any* groove. But this: this was off the freakin' chart.

      Well, the bass is so “different” on this track that you almost don’t even think about it. It’s almost “groovy”. If that makes any sense. It doesn’t ask for “spotlight”, and makes you listen for it, which is kind of a delight. Not some thumping, thudding, mess. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Maybe it’s just me.

    Everything Pino touches turns to gold. He raises everything....he makes every bass line sound like it’s not too much or too little, just perfect.

      I agree 100%, T!!! I've heard it thru the grapevine (no pun intended) that some musicians will NOT hire him because they fear his bass lines will steal the spotlight from them! Not so sure I believe that or not! BUT MAN OH MAN - everything he touches really DOES turn to gold!

      If true those artists have personal issues :). Pino would make their music sing higher. The perfect outcome if you are hiring a sideman.

    I'm here because I just learned that Pino Palladino played with NiN for a while. I had no idea what to expect, but it certainly wasn't a funky groove like this. I'll definitely be seeking out more.

      i was literally today years old when i found out through an interview that Pino Palladino and Lisa Fischer did work with NIN. i used to listen to them in the earlier years (1990/1991) but i had to stop because it freaked me out too much. i haven't listened to much of them since then. But i could rock with this, because i love Pino and Lisa.

    I saw NIN on this tour when they came to New Orleans for Voodoo Fest that year. This was such a great, sexy song live. The backup singers were an unexpected addition that absolutely killed it. Best drummer I've ever seen live. Reznor and Ross are an incredible and potent combo.

    And lo, the sky went dark and all the beasts were silent, and the crowds gathered and witnessed the parting of the clouds, and then a voice thundered from the clouds and the masses fell to their knees and listened,
    Then God spoke to them, and he said,
    "Let there be Pino Palladino"

    The "real" all time low here, is the fact that nin is on jimmy kimmel live. WTF Trent? What was the point of dodging SNL all these years? Especially just to end up here?!

      I guess you missed them on Austin City Limits on the 5th of this month. It was a great performance and is still available to stream on PBS.

    • @danegalang8376
      @danegalang8376 10 років тому

      Yeah I saw that, it was pretty good. I love the ladies doing backup vox, it really sets the songs off. My problem is that I read an interview of Trent years ago where he was pretty adamant about not playing on SNL because he thought he would be selling out. Well, being on jimmie kimmel is way more sold out in my opinion. Its not the music that's bad to me, its the company of certain people. But then again, "Hesitation Marks" only has a handful of good songs anyways, so I think he just needs to quit while he's ahead. Even tho "All time low" is one of my all time favs. God I'm so torn, just don't sell out anymore, like doing Leno or anything. I will have to punch him in the throat if he does that, or Letterman, or Fallon for that matter!

    • @peedropaulasmith8956
      @peedropaulasmith8956 10 років тому +1

      Well, Letterman's retiring and Colbert is taking over, and I think that would be a pretty awesome interview. Trent said and did a lot of things in the past, but that was a lifetime ago.
      I got to hear All the Love in the World at soundcheck thanks to NIN's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. It was a great little mini-concert.
