I am grateful for your yin yoga sessions and loved this releasing yoga practice! I was wondering if you could do a practice to help with allergies! Is there meridians that can help release allergies and toxins in the body?
Thank you Tracey - so glad you enjoyed this practice! Allergies or the allergic reaction of your body is your bodies immune system reacting to something it doesn't like. Your body responds to something it deems foreign (although in another person's body it isn't seen the same so it's an overreaction of your bodies system specifically) and attacks it resulting in what we often see as allergy symptoms such as runny nose, itchy eyes. Because each person is unique, allergies are best managed through determining the substance causing them and keeping clear of it but we all know that's not always possible. For me, when I have allergies, I use heart opening practices to help me breathe better, open the throat and chest, and generally feel a bit better. I have several heart opening (heart, pericardium, upper chest, upper body) practices that could help on the channel - just search the above terms for options. As for toxins, that's slightly different from my perspective. Movement and breath can help remove toxins in the body and in particular, practices such as dry brushing, self massage or massage, lymphatic system practices can help detoxify the body and support an overall healthy system. Not gonna lie but today I was extra fidgety and had to make myself come back to the present and my practice. I wanted to do a longer relaxing video since I went for an acupuncture treatment this morning for headache relief. Glad I stuck with it but sometimes that body and mind just wants to fight what’s good for it. Time for a nap I think. My kitten agrees - she’s got a head start.

Hi April was doing your practice and by the way I have never felt so relaxed and am sleeping better. I was doing this practice and had my window open and a little cricket kept me company and added to the the relaxed mood. Funny when you go through a traumatic time you forget to take care of yourself. And I did was physically a wreck I did miss the kitty crew in this video. I was wondering do you ever have a 90 min practice? I just don't want it to end.

You are very welcome Sue. Most people develop a deeper upper back curve (you naturally have one but it can be deeper) over time and our present lifestyles accelerate that. I haven't heard that forward folds deepen the curve as long as you do the opposite (backbends) as well to bring balance. If you want to take some of the upper back bend out, you can support yourself with bolsters, blocks, blankets to your back is more even with the floor and extended out - this will also put the stretch into the back of your legs and lower back instead.
