Dimebag Darrell once said he used to brush his teeth to this song. \,,/
There is a video of Pantera playing Whiplash with Dime singing
I don't care if this true or not, I'm believing it.
That's the image I'll be seeing everytime I hear this song 🤘🏻
battoosh I imagine him head banging to the song brushing his teeth
Awesome image in my head of that \m/ ... I have banned myself from listening to it while driving, as soon as it starts my foot gets real heavy 😂
I can't unsee now
Now they say "We'll never quit, we'll never stop 'cause YOU'RE Metallica!" :)
my favorite line in possibly every Metallica song. After seeing them 43 times LIVE and listening to every album front to back 28374646326253746353X. Cheers Bro.
@@micahjared8082 you're one lucky bastard, hehe, cheers to you.
They’ve been saying that since 1984/85.
Love em or hate em, metallica is an all time classic
What person could be so fucked up to not like metallica
@@jonahm3121 some people
who tf doesn't like Metallica?
@@PotatoMan518 some of Megadeth fans...
@@estagisep_ those are fake people, true metalheads appreciate every band.
This Metallica reaction reminds me of the early days of the channel where every week was a Metallica reaction! Let’s Go!
So, this is metal. One time at a concert in Portland, Dave Lombardo from Slayer and their sound guy put a cassette version of this on as house music and the kids were all head banging in a circle. The drummer for Slayer literally introduced me to this album. (He also told me to kill a f-g, but, let’s not go there. It was the ‘80s)
Back in the day, we referred to this as METALLIFUCKINGCA!! This is the real deal. Best songs on this album is Seek and Destroy. One time at a party I met a girl in a Metallica shirt watching Cliff ‘em All by herself in my friend’s room. Eventually, I married her. We’re going to Iron Maiden on Friday, and Ghost next week.
Better love story than Twilight
Damn! What a story man! \m/
Phantom Lord by Metallica
The most underrated song on this album for sure.
@@lynchmob72 my favourite song on this album
ACTIN LIKE A MANIAC, WHIPLASH! haha, love this song, clicked on this video fast as hell
thrashing all around !!!!!!
Lmao
DICKRASH!
Young James Hetfield Voice 🤘
First time I saw them live was back in 1985. I was in the middle of the pit when this one started. That was nuckin' futs.
Dennis Cooke nuckin’ futs.
Classic Metallica.
Try a deeper cut like Metal Militia or No Remorse.
They did No Remorse
Fuck yeah bro. Love METAL MILITIA

They should do Blitzkreig for a deep cut.

Can’t really say much for Metallica now but there was nothing like hearing this in the 80’s as a 14 year old. What a time to be alive lol
Hardwired and Death Magnetic were very good imo
@@Craig-gq4gb better than kill em all imo..
I'm waiting for "And Justice for All". Perhaps the most underrated Metallica song of all.
NOTHING CAN SAVE YOU
@@Salomon_G So what's your most underrated one?
@@Salomon_G It's not, but in my opinion it's one of the best songs they've ever written, yet it was never played or talked about nearly as much as it should've been.
There is also Trapped Under Ice, although I think that ajfa is overall more impressive in all aspects.
@@Salomon_G Back in 89. A song this good with this kind of potential should be played a lot more often. Some songs have been played close to 7000 times, and I don't think they are as good. ajfa was played just for a few hundreds.
So yeah, it is underrated, considering it's potential.
Señor Romántico the album you dumbo not the song
A Slipknot reaction? Never heard one of those before!
Kill Em All remains one of my favorite Metallica albums cause of the killer riffs. Some of the live versions with Jason trading vocals are fantastic. His voice just suits this song.
Awesome reaction! I requested this song a while back, and I’m glad y’all got to it. Keep rockin out🤘🏻
I was in high school when this album came out. It was just what we needed ! You can't imagine what is was like to hear this for the first time as a teenager !
I've been waiting a long time for this one! Thanks for doing it!
This is my favorite Metallica album. It was so raw and had the genius of both Mustaine and Burton. RIP cliff. Great review!
Just like every Metallica record, a driving force has always been Lars, & James.
Francisco Fernandez Jr. Yes they obviously contributed majorly to all the albums but this one is my favorite as it has their greatest lineup IMO.
@@fsrsaa I agree, it has the greatest lineup, Lars James, Cliff and Kirk. Mustang was a Metallica for like 8 months, yes the most important 8 months of his life, not theirs.
👍
I first saw Metallica at the Monsters of Rock festival (UK) August 1985. You can imagine what an impression it made on us at the time. They were relatively unknown (apart from a few grainy tapes some of us had heard) but their music and presence made most of us big fans from that point forward. Whiplash was in the setlist just after Seek & Destroy and before Am I Evil. Thanks for this reaction - it was pretty much the same as I had when I first heard it all those years ago.
It all started for me with this song :) I was 11, listened to pop music, the heaviest song I'd heard was "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC. One day my best friend brought me a tape and asked me to give it a listen. It was "Kill'Em All". The order of the songs was messed up, so the tape started with "Whiplash". As soon as I heard the riff, I was blown away. My musical world turned upside down. I've been a metal-head since - for almost 30 years now :)
Cos we're Metallica was a ballsy statement, even at the risk of being cheesy. But in live shows they changed it to ''cos YOU'RE Metallica'
That's amazing.
Metallica - So What (for covers week, must be uncensored)!!
Hah, I can't wait for Vin's eyebrow on that one!
Need the lead in of "Anesthesia Pulling Teeth / Bass Solo" .
it really isn’t necessary, just like the last 10 seconds
The pinnacle of thrash and the reason why we loved this shit from day one! If you were there, then you know!
“We’ll never stop. We’ll never quit...because we’re Metallica!”
Luv u vin and sori U both rock!
I was 17 when this song dropped. It was magical here in So. Cal at the time
As a teenager living near the Bay Area when this album came out, i remember kids who hung out in the smoking section at my high school playing this cassette on their "boom boxes". A lot of them had homemade Metallica sleeveless t-shirts that were spray painted or drawn with permanant markers. As a young kid, i didn't think much of it at the time. But looking back on it now, it really shows how incredibly rabid and loyal Metallica fans have been from the begining. While only being a huge fan of the 3 albums that followed "Kill Em All" and thinking still to this day that the Metallica "Metal Up Your Ass" t-shirt was the greatest band shirt in history, i cannot deny the impact and influence they've had on the Metal genre. IMHO, Black Sabbath is the foundation, Metallica is the structure, and Pantera is the roof for which all metal bands live and play today!!
I love Pantera, but I think its influence is a bit overrated. Outside of Dimebag influencing a lot of LEAD guitar players, what Pantera influenced was Nu Metal and specially the NWOAHM (FFDP, Lamb of God, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold,etc.). That's their legacy. The only two "big" bands outside of those genres I can think of where you can hear their influence are Nevermore and late-Symphony X, and the influence is pretty diluted (just some riffs and maybe a couple vocal performances). You also don't see Groove Metal bands anymore, aside from when Thrash Metal bands jumped on the bandwagon in the mid to late 90's for like one album only (Anthrax, Testament come to mind).
It's like their influence comes down to the same 3 "Pantera style" riffs.
Great story man,I can tell ur older bczz we had a " smoking area" in my high school in southern cal. Ware does slayer fit in tho. I bought kill em all,& show no mercy@ the same time I 9th grade in San Bernardino. Only bczz of the covers.
@@tarkus1056 You're missin the boat here.
Just because a band doesn't sound like Pantera or Metallica or Sabbath doesn't mean they weren't influenced by them.
Im guessing you're younger than i am but Tony Iomi guitarist and majority song writer for Black Sabbath was influenced by "The Shadows". Google or UA-cam them and hear how they sound NOTHING alike.
So let me be a little more specific. Obviously Sabbath created the heavy metal genre. Where you see their influence in all metal music is the mainly the profound presence and tone of the guitar in the song. Metallica influence is that they played a more up tempoed style. Along with Motorhead, they pretty much pioneered that "speed metal" aspect of heavy metal.
Now as far as Pantera goes! I absolutely feel that Dimebag was one of the all time greats and was a huge influence. But to me, Vinnie's drumming is where you hear a lot of Pantera influence in metal. Primarily in the complex double bass playing that completely changed the genre.
Are there other bands that were and are influencial in today metal music? Yes. Did they contribute to the metal genre? Yes. But at the end of the day, those band simply did not have the kind of impact on metal music in the way Sabbath, Metallica and Pantera did. Again IHMO.
Ah yes, the good old thrashy days. Best MetallicA album ever!
Was fun watching you to acting like maniacs...Reminded me how me and my buddies used to act when listening to this...Great tune!
Fun, Fast, relatively short, and possibly my favorite song in the album. I love songs like this one for a quick "mood improvement.
"The Crown - Blitzkrieg Witchcraft" is another one of my favorites.. it's "Death Thrash" and not old-school thrash like this, but it's just 3 and a half minutes of fun & headbanging.
Hahaha. Moshing in your seats. Lol. I saw Metallica on And Justice for All tour on my 21st Birthday. Queensryche opened.
Saw them on the same tour. I was eighteen. It was my first concert. So epic!!
I love the passion and commitment Metallica show on this song. So young and yet they totally believed in what they were doing and that they would make it a success.
I was afraid that she wouldn't get it... but she gets it.
Suggestion - Testament Return to Serenity , Steve Stevens Small Arms Fire, you won't be disappointed.
This whole album is great, no filler tracks! Going to throw this one out there for consideration:
The Pretty Reckless - Going to Hell
Megadeth - Looking Down The Cross
Pantera does a cover of this song live with Jason and dime sings and Phil is on guitar.
RIGHT on. Old school Metallica. Great SONG. Awesome guitar work
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
4:45 The reason I love watching your reactions...your interactions. :)
One of the songs that started it all. Groundbreaking at the time. The best version of Metallica...raw, fast, and aggressive. I can remember listening to this when it was first released...turned me into a metal maniac \m/
My first show ever: 5/25/1986 Aragon Brawlroom Chicago IL this song was the final song of the set.
Moonspell - Full Moon Madness
Moonspell - Night Eternal
At the gigs James sings "you're Metallica"... And their live show is damn good, just saw them a little over a month ago in Finland. They may not be jumping all around, but the music is just incredible and the energy is still there, almost 40 years later...
ABOUT TIME. \m/
Imagine they released this tune on their very first album, which is quite crazy considering they did not have the following they do today.. also, the only song in their catalog that breaks the formula and has 3 verses and choruses instead of 2
Does master of puppets also have 3 verses and choruses? I think so
when I had this vinyl in my hand and heard it the first time, I fell in love with them.
I broke my leg at a local show 91 or 92 and broke my ankle at a suicidal tendencies in the 90's as well!! You love it or go home!! This is what we do! I stayed the whole show in spite my injuries! The pit
My first experience to Metallica was them opening for Ozzy on their Damage Inc. Tour (Master of Puppets) at Long Beach Arena circa '86 in socal. I was 5th row and 16 years old. Chair cushions were ripped out and being thrown all over the place. I know at least one person died and a lot of others sustained injures. I survived with quite a few bruises and saw them the next 3 tours they did.
One of my favorite speed metal "thrash"tunes...
The intro makes me want to run head first into all wall!
I think its time for you guys to review the live reunion of Metallica with Dave Mustaine among other former members doing Phantom Lord from a few years ago. The energy is electric
Fuck yeah! Simple, pure thrash and it's awesome
On the live version from 1989 Seattle Wa, show they play this song super fast it'll blow you away!
Impossible not to headbang to, please listen to violent soho, covered in chrome👍
For a long time, I thought I HATED Metallica, but it was only because I was introduced to them after the black album came out.
Going back to their first albums, they were amazing.
Yeah, that's a shame. Their thrash albums are the only thing that count.
@@ThinkShink please shut up. People like you are a shame honestly, Black/Load/Reload are masterpieces, you're just not open minded
Lol, fucking phone fuck. Load and Reload are great, and Death Magnetic and Hardwired to Self-Destruct are even better...
But you're a phony bandwagoner, with narrow mind and that requires others approval to validate what you "like".
Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
HERE WE GO!
You guys should check out a Jazz/Death Metal band by the name of Trepalium. Songs like Moonshine Limbo and Fire On Skin are incredible! Keep up the awesome work. Much love!
The ending in this song sounds like something Paul Dianno would do when he was in Maiden.
I've seen them many times. When played live they always say "we'll never stop, we'll never quit, cause YOU'RE Metallica"!
It's a tribute to the fans.
This was the opening song when I saw them in Glasgow in 93, and less than two bars in my neck went *ping* and the pain shot thru me. Kept headbanging for the whole 2 n a half hour set 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 couldn't look left or right for about a fortnight, bit totally worth it 🤣🤘🤣
Love some old school Metallica!
Septic Flesh - Virtues of the Beast
Please!
You want live energy? SICK OF IT ALL. Hands down.
Damn, this song is great but it definitely had to be the live version of 82.
Request: Epica - Kingdom of heaven
There's no point in reacting to a pixelated live show with audio like crap. Also, studio version has the crispy Cliff bass, so...
You guys really need to react to the live in Seattle 89 version of this. It's twice as fast and aggressive!
Kill em all is growing on vin for sure, but haven’t done the best. Anesthesia pulling teeth the bass solo from Cliff(one take) and motorbreath the Punk influenced banger. I mean you have done four horsemen, hit the lights, now whiplash. Offering prayers to Fla.
*Metal Militia has entered the chat*
Oh I thought I was in 1983 again for a moment there
Yes! Mosh pit! Love it!
"We'll never stop, we'll never quit 'cause we're Metallica" They fuckin' meant it. 38 years and counting.
Love this song, glad you’re reacting to early Metallica again.
Megadeth’s equivalent to this song is Rattlehead and it’s really good too. Give it a shot if you want, I highly recommend it.
Maximilian Meyer second half sounds like poison was the cure 🤔
I've always wanted to do this song at a show when still jamming in a band a few years back lol I feel like it'd get people going
Ah, the early Metallica. Got to love it.
Try Jump In The Fire or Metal Militia, both from the Kill 'em all album. Awesome songs!
Look up a Brooklyn club called "Lamour". That is where Metallica really began. Imagine being there. A dark club in Bensonhurst full of teenage metalheads, with this crazy new band out of NJ from California.
I was there. Daves last show. Then SI like a week later with Kirk. Great times, but not quite their start. I did hear them over a year before on tapes. Big hype before they came out to nj. Anthrax really helped them immensely. Still not enough paybacks to all that did then. Attitudes got overblown quickly over next years. Shame they forgot moat who helped them. But still was great time & better memories in the early 80s 🤘
@@hmpz36911 They performed there many times over the years (not always under "Metallica") and came back after they started to get big. That's the show you saw. At least one of those tapes was recorded in Lamours.
"we'll neve stop, we'll never quit cause we're Metallica" I realy hope that that line was a promise.
Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
Always liked Jump In The Fire from the album. Has such a catchy groove to it.
Love this song! 😁
Hi guys big fan of both of you if you can react to as I lay dying, also some classic Metallica thank you and may God bless you.
This song is like a mission statement
I love when you guys react to Metallica... I hope you will eventually react to every one of their songs except for the St Anger album. 🤣 Rock on guys... Y'all are great fun! 😁
Oh, but St. Anger is pretty damn good LIVE. 😊
Killer Classic!
I thank god I was born in 71’ ! I got to see the birth of it all ! 🤘
Nice review you should give Karnivool another go with Cote reckon you will really like that one
Finally, finally you get it.
I was first turned on to Metalica in a car full of friends Six of us. The two blow us all away. We all Thrashed and it never was the same after Whiplash.
This Song started a whole new trend. We live life as Thrashers from that day. The rich boys from Queens and Long Island meet the Bad Ass Boys from Brooklyn, we grew in these new fronteer. I hung out with Slayer fans Universal Skins who Moshed. Then going to the Metal Chicks in Long Island. We were all badass. Was a insain time to be a teenager or young man or women. Wild and crazy fun. Explosive. They kept coming at us with Battery damage incorporated. Anthrax
S.O.D. Edgadi breaking hoods on cars moshing driving through wooden gates. Doing you girlfriend anywhere you could. Drinking with the boys. Van Halen, Rush, Slayer Metalica S.O.D.
Oh man - what a ride.
People see me today can never make the correlation.
Finally you hit the launch button.
My later year's got into Megadeth.
Married had kids live a Christian life but now my kids are grown and they have their own on line groups, it's so different. My wife can't relate, I'm trying to understand. I like reaction videos because I enjoy seeing younger people enjoy different things especially the stuff I lived through.
I will be a badass Gramps
I'll make sure of that. These kids today need to understand what a man and women is. A patriarchal God and country not a commi emasculated slave society.
I wish we could have been more convincing.
Anyways glad your having fun with the Thrash anthem.
3:57 hold that ".... Whiplash!" Vin ;D
i wish you would do more good old metal like this more often, there is no shortage of material

Do you realize how young they were? And the date this album came out?
They recorded it less than 2 miles from my house in Rochester, NY. They played all the local joints in Rochester and all the kids loved it. Everyone knew they that they had something going.
You should def check out Motorhead's cover, as much as I love Metallica. It's one of the rare cases I consider the cover better than the original.
Completely agree.
Fixxxer by Metallica. It's very rare to see a reaction of this, would love to see/hear your take on this song
