Oh my god, the lyric video is pure cringe! 😥
ah, yes, early youtube
What did you expect from a guy named cockmasterZ lmao
Yo i was thinking the same 🤣🤣
Súper tóxico.
Scary music-
I don't think u can really aprecciate the song until u know that all the WAH sound effects on the music is supposed to be the Ktulu screaming and it is done by cliff burton playing the bass with distortion and a WAH pedal. There was nothing like it when they wrote it,Cliff was really creating something new.
Dave and Cliff wrote this..............😁😁😎
monicajean37 He was talking about the Ktulu Rawr from the Bass.
@@TheBlackQueen I understand that, it still doesn't take away the fact that Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton wrote this song
Dave wrote one section the same cords that were used in hanger 18, it was written after he left the band
Meh, not really necessary
Whoever made the video did an excellent job by completely ruining it with the stupid comments.
When my daughter was about 2 years old,she had trouble going to sleep, I would take her for a ride in the car, crank up metallica, and within 10 min she was usually asleep. To this day she still loves Metallica.
This is how I will raise my child as well🤘
Similar to how my dad raised me, what an awsome childhood she has.
You're a good dad \m/
She is 22 now,she was raised to love all music. Rap is not my music but I never restricted her or my boys musical tastes.
Enter Sandman? ).
Ride The Lightning will forever be the greatest Metallica album of ALL TIME, Fight me.
MoP>RtL>Justice>KeA for me.
The reverb-y production on the album and songs like Escape + For Whom The Bell Tolls (and to some degree the mid-tempo title track) drags it a little down, compared to Master of Puppets.
With Fire?
Master of puppets
@@jondonroofner2925 2nd best
I'm die hard MetallicA fan, and I can't argue with you, but I also can't argue with any of the bands albums. Because they are such great musicians, even with Load, ReLoad, St Anger, and the Black Album each one of those albums, and each of their first 4 albums, they show what they can do, and wether it's aggressive, off the wall, melodic, heavy, and not what die hard want, MetallicA still are the best imo.
Oh no, those cringy comments in the source vid. I wanna disappear from the second hand embarassment.
Right? I always love the "modern music is crap" thing when it comes up. Nah fam you just don't know good modern music. The deluge of trash music from the past is just forgotten, standards haven't just lowered.
@@ayanleman the standards haven't been lowered? lmao
Pretty sure this was put together by an actual kid. Don't worry about it lol
Got some good guitar playing over here, y'know?
@@G.G14 For real. When i say that I mean 90% of music is and always has been absolute garbage. The diamonds in the dung heap survive the test of time, the rest is forgotten
That "lyric video" made me cringe.
I am proud of it
@@tomas_nehyba eww
@@nathansciarone5627 You don't understand. I am proud of that It made him cringe, because its okay.
The "S&M" performance of this song with the orchestra is phenomenal! Won them a Grammy too...
Ah so Mustaine has multiple grammys
Please, Vin and Sori. Metallica has every single song in their YT channel. For next instrumental one it will be better choose one from there. It'll be more loyal to the authors and won't have comments or images that anybody needs.
BTW, keep being so authentic!!🤘🤘💪
Yes, plus it'll be the best quality available
there’s actually a bass solo in the beginning of the song. it starts at 1:28 but it’s hard to hear unless you really listen for it or change some EQ settings. RIP Cliff. the man who could shred a bass guitar better than most can shred an electric guitar
Now react the same song with Symphony Orchestra, from the album S&M
Was wondering if anyone would comment this... the orchestra adds a whole new dimension to the song for sure.. definitely approve of this! Doooeeeiit!
Hell yeah, agreed!! They really have to, after this one!
YES YES YES
@@uoabigaillevey Fuck yeah!
No Cliff Burton, no need.
Ha... with lyrics. The wailing ktulu sounds u can hear in the background is Cliff Burton killing it on bass! This is why Metallica are the kings!
..because of Cliff making a "wailing ktulu sound" in the background? Give me a bass, a distortion pedal and a wah pedal and I'll expect my crown within the next week!
@@bcbitchkkv Try doing that in 1984 and people might appreciate it.
Were the kings
dirtygore they still are not the thrash kings because they never gave them selves that title the people did but they are the kings
James is not just a primary lyrics writer. He is the main songwriter (guitars) with lars. James is the Greatest rhythm guitarist ever. I love Cliff, Lars and other guys but James is Metallica. Period.
He is definitely top 5...my pick for the best rhythm player is John Shaffer
100
James is Metallica Lars is Metallica Without that Recycler ad joining them Life sucks
Actually, this song is mostly from Mustaine
"I like number 2 better but put a bit more duh dum duh in there" - That's Lars' contribution for his song writing credits
the creepy recurring chord progression in this tune is called a 'tri-tone', or minor 5th.
during the middle ages, composers were discouraged from using minor 5th's, because it was believed to invoke evil spirits.
Metallica - Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) Live Chicago 1983 ( Cliff Burton bass solo )
The one from San Francisco that's on the Cliff'em All video with Dave Mustain introducing Cliff is good too.
Cliff's bass playing and sound is another level on this track.. RIP Legend.
Dave mustaine of MEGADETH Co wrote this song. He gets credit on the song. He uses the same guitar chords on his song HANGER 18. Dave said himself that call of the ktulu is his favorite song he co wrote with metallica.
This type of cromathic prgressions are typically Mustaine/Friedman, yep!
Yeah same exact chords, Metallica picks each string while Megadeth strums it.
It's interesting to think that both songs are originated from the same chord progression and evolved in 2 completely different ways.
@@matheusventura4289 You can hear this type of progression in many megadeth songs. And in other bands but less frequently. I personally love this cromathic progression. (I´m not english I hope I wrote it well...)
I think Metallica composed the song better then Dave mustaine ever could. Just like they did with the four horsemen. Metallica are just better
Yess they were just 21 years old when they written this song... just unbelievable. More instrumentals? Try "(Anesthesia)-Pulling Teeth" which is written by Cliff Burton when he was still in highschool and "Live is to Die" which is partly written by Cliff and later put on "...And Justice for All" as an homage to Cliff, pure bliss I tell you, both instrumentals. In total there are 5 instrumentals; others are "Orion" and "Suicide & Redemption"
This song is so powerful just like when I first head it smoking a joint in the dark in my room with headphones. You can hear EVERYTHING!!!!! My favorite Metallica song just a masterpiece
ANESTHESIA - (PULLING TEETH)
The first record has Anesthesia(Pulling Teeth),which is a bass solo,Take 1. And justice for all has To live is to Die. Black Album doesn't have a instrumental.
Dont forget Orion from Master of Puppets ☺☺ Cant remember if they reacted to that one or not already lol
@@TheCobhc2005 I know,I didn't metion it because they already reacted to Orion.
Matheus Ventura they already reacted to To Live Is To Die 🤷🏻♂️
Don't forget Suicide and Redemption
Ktulu and Orion are just something else, those are extract of their early sound and talents.
Wooow amazing! Congratulations on the baby!!
Thanks for this guys.. one of my favorites
So, Sori´s baby answered the Call of Ktulu? Sounds like the beginning of a Stephen King-story.^^
Please do Ride The Lighting of this album. That song is a masterpiece
Another Mustaine!
Thomas Lee only part mustaine
@@sentientcloroxbottle1557
Nope. Mostly Mustaine. The main riff alone screams Dave. Why? Because Metallica never did anything like that prior or after Ride The Lightning.
The sliding stuff is nearly a Dave trademark. He's done it many times over his career in different songs.
And ofc there's a video of Dave playing his parts from Ride. Which include the spider stuff he used later on in Wake Up Dead and the main riff.
His song.
11DNA11 the main riff to RTL was written by Lars
The Call of the Ktulu is like an orchestrated piece transposed in metal guitars, drums and of course Cliff's bass....which really has the most impact for me. Thanks again guys for a wonderful review.
This was probably Cliff at his best on the whole Ride the Lightning album. Pure bass guitar genius.
Also there was suicide redemption off death magnetic
Yes! Yes!
Badass fucking instrumental! There was a sick live version, was it on Quebec Magnetic show?
Amazing instrumental off an excellent album
Love S-N-R its a great tune.
No. Hell no.
The only good thing about that song is the Het solo.
Otherwise.. It's just a song that begs lyrics the whole 8 minute duration.
Death Angel recorded the instrumental The Ultra-Violence when they were teenagers, the drummer was only 14.
Don't bother, been asking for Death Angel for almost since this channel began...they won't play it. 😢
congrats on your on coming child!!!
Soooo long ago since I listened to this song... Still very good!
Loved the reaction, and those text comments in the video 😁😎
Here's the complete list of instrumentals by Metallica
Kill Em All - Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)
Ride the Lightning - Call of the Ktulu
Master of Puppets - Orion
...And Justice for All - To Live is to Die
Death Magnetic - Suicide & Redemption
Novembers Doom - Autumn Reflection
400+
2:31 and that beauty is the bass of CLIFF BURTON!!
Love it when Cliff's wah-wah is goin off as the call of Ktulu
Metallica's instrumentals are: Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth), Orion, To Live is to Die
There maybe more on the later albums but I don't really know them.
Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
No!
Why would you suggest one of their shittiest songs when they have a million good songs? Is that the only metallica album you’ve heard?
@@jondonroofner2925 why must you yell at someone for making a mere suggestion?😱 like wth are we not allowed to have opinions?
Death Magnetic is awesome
Yes but it’s so lame to suggest their worst music to someone trying to experience the best music. So many people are clueless and only listen to mainstream songs like “the day that never comes” and they’re like oh I love metallica but they’ve never even listened to kill em all
Metallica - Harvester of Sorrow Live in Moscow
The best version
Man, I love this song. It's a fantastic way to end such an iconic album, which was arguably their best one.
Anyway, could you guys do a reaction to any Riverside song? Something like Second Life Syndrome or Egoist Hedonist.
I love how this song gives you the feeling of a slow decent into fear and madness.
OMG....cliff's signature anesthesia pulling teeth on the first album, there is a live version online from back in 1983 I think it's recorded in Chicago must see....must see

’The thing that should not be’ should be here too
Add some Bal-Sagoth in there. Maybe Portal too (but that may be a bit much).
Until the end of time nobody will ever come close to 80s Metallica, youngsters don't know how different and awesome, and also underground, heavy and unheard on mainstream radio or TV they were back then. Never happen again, man I miss those days.
80s megadeth tho
7:00 Lars killin’ it right here 🔥🔥🔥
Should do 'The thing that should not be' from Master of Puppets based on the same Lovecraft mythos. Great song that is often over looked.
Yup. And this is one of the songs that the performance needs to be seen, even if the quality suffers a little. Seattle 1989, of course... the expressions and movements add a layer that's missing a little from the studio version.
ua-cam.com/video/DuWtFk1Lue4/v-deo.html here is a like to the remaster vs of The thing that should not be'
TO LIVE IS TO DIE is the Instrumental on And justice For All - There is an Instrumental on Death Magnetic also
Also good to mention To Live Is To Die is an unofficial tribute to Cliff. They never said it was, but it's pretty obvious. A lot of emotion with little words
GUYS…11th February is my birthday…and then you post this..! Guys, thanks so much for the awesome Birthday prezzi.!!!….Shout out from your friends in Australia...
I was fortunate enough to see Cliff with Metallica with Ozzy back in the day and I had no idea what I was being introduced to at the time. At one point in the show, Cliff came out to do a bass solo and everyone was just rolling their eyes because, well it's a bass solo lol. It started out just like one would expect with the boring bass stuff but about 2 minutes in, things changed in an incredible way. I swear to Kutulu, if your eyes were closed, you would have sworn that he was playing flamenco on a guitar....my mind was completely blown apart by his talent and....Jeezzzz, I'm getting chills all over again just remembering back again! He did things to that bass that I've never heard anything like before or sense.
Saw that same tour with Metallica/Ozzy back in 1986 Houston Texas.
Hetfield's compositions are unparalleled
Dave
Sometime listen to the S&M version. Awesome
Such a great song
Love the lyrics...
Metallica - The Outlaw Torn (live S&M version)
They had an instrumental on their first three albums then for some reason they abandoned the tradition. I think, musically speaking, their instrumentals were their best work. True masterpieces.
4 albums if you count to live is to die
So crazy.....was just thinking last night "wow it's been a long time since vin and sori have done a metallica song.
Congratulations 👼
If you like instrumental, buckethead is really up there for creative instrumental pieces. One of his most popular pieces is Soothsayer. But he has sooooo many songs, with a wide range of genres. And he can put so much emotion in his songs, without saying a single word. (Whitewash is one I really like as well).
And here's a fun fact about Buckethead if I haven't peaked your interest yet. He was born in 1969, started his guitarist career in 1988... And to date he has published over 300 albums & counting, plus he has contributed and/or performed on another 50 albums by other artists.
The guy has literally over 300 solo albums and is on over 50 more albums from other artists/ bands. Hard to try and pick his "best" since everything he touches is golden.
@@shaitanlavey so true, i haven't listened to all of them yet. Pike #52 (Factory) is definitely one of my favorites though so far.
Soothsayer is one of the most emotional pieces I have ever heard
Napalm death " when all is said and done"
Haha love the reaction! But I looooVed when at thee end, she thOUght the song was over but the Outro hit, thee expression on her face was priceless! Hahaa thanks gUYs!
They nailed the feeling of "The Call of Cthulhu", the H.P. Lovecraft short story that inspired this song.
more metallica vin!!!!! damage inc/ trapped under ice/outlaw torn
METALLICA ORION
Andy Lopez Big time my friend
They've done it...

Why choose those awful videos where some random guy writes random bs about the music ? Wtf.
Brios exactly. Like the dumbass remark that it sounds like Enter Sandman.
Yes. I was looking for such a comment.
Yes.. This and Orion are my favorite instamentals .. The Warsaw Guitsr Orchestra do s beautiful version of each.. awesome UA-cam videos
Ktulu is just as emotional piece as orion. To Live Is to Die is also very good, and I must say, their last crack at an instrumental, "suicide&redemption is quite good too. I think it's way cool that you guys obviously recognize and appreciate true talent. These guys were 20 and 21 years old when they wrote this masterpiece. Remarkable. Great taste, and I love the reaction. Keep it up guys!
Helloween ☆ Keeper of the seven keys 🎃 a nice and epic 13 minute epos. That "lyric" video was cringe at a very high level 😓
Kill em All = Anesthesia (pulling teeth)
Ride the Lightning = this one
Master = Orion
Justice = To Live is to Die, has some spoken words but still counts as a instrumental
Death Magnetic = Suicide & Redemption
guys I really urge you to react to the S&M version
it is sooo epic and almost entirely different than this.. I kinda think you will like it more

Both original and S&M have their importance..
I rate this above Orion, but what 5 year old made that video though? The song deserves better, lol.
...And Justice for All has an instrumental. "To Live is to Die". Tribute to Cliff after his passing. You should definitely react to that one if you loved this and Orion. They took a bunch of parts that Cliff wrote and combined it for the song. It's a masterpiece. Also, the instrumental on the first album is Cliff's bass solo, Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). The Call of Ktulu on Ride the Lightning. Orion on Master of Puppets. To Live is to Die on ...And Justice for All. Suicide and Redemption on Death Magnetic.
I just went and seen them again two weeks ago they still kick ass I seen them in 83 89 92 93 and 2019

Les Claypool auditioned to replace Cliff and they told him he was too good. Do some Primus, Golden boy, Groundhog's day, or Mrs. Blaileen
Les Claypool said they told him "this isnt really your style of music. You are great at what you do but we don't think you would fit well here" and then never called him back
The thing that always resonates with me and Metallica's music, especially their instrumentals, is how the different changes slowly morph into the next riff. It's like one part wanders off then the other parts slowly join. Absolutely perfect musicianship.
Kill'Em All - Anesthesia(Pulling Teeth)
Ride the Lightning - Call of Ktulu
Master of Puppets - Orion
...And Justice For All - To Live Is To Die, mostly instrumental, the last song Cliff Burton wrote on
Death Magnetic - Suicide & Redemption
Can't remember if y'all have done this one, but Anesthesia/Pulling Teeth is my favorite Cliff Burton instrumental. Dude was a monster... Happy birthday, Cliff.
2x4 or the outlaw torn
Outlaw torn is metallica's most underrated song
@@GregDineen And 2x4 has the underrated solo
Polaris consume please bruah help me out
On the issue of give and take and how a song gets made, there's a great series of videos on the Metallica YT channel on the making of each song on their last album. The one on the making of Spit Out The Bone is probably my favourite and it shows how they piece together all the different riffs that make up the song.
Also - Kill Em All has Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) as an instrumental, Justice for All has To Live Is To Die, then I'm pretty sure the next album to have an instrumental is Death Magnetic with Suicide and Redemption
Ride the Lightning and Master Of Puppets are my favorite Metallica albums. I remember my cousin letting me listen to his ride the lightning album 1 weekend, after i was done, he told me they had as new album coming out in a couple weeks. I got Master of Puppets as soon as it came out. Musically speaking, that may have been the best 2 weeks of my life.
