Phasers are effective to do damage… B5 Torpedos are weaker and don’t really damage shields Ships and fighters will need to work together to knock down the shields…LOL It’s still a great story
There's electric interference in Babylon 5 so beaming won't work. If I remember correctly..that shit stopped them from beaming stuff in Star Trek all the time?
Rather than get into the pointless and needlessly acrimonius debate about which 'verse has better tech, I'm just going to jump up and down over the AMAZING quality of this project. The visual effects, the sound effects, the concept and the execution are the best non-official work I've ever seen. Frankly, this is much better done than even most officially produced sequences. I'm so, so impressed. Thank you for sharing this!
For those that do not know - this is a scene from the Star Wrek parody series - where their version of Kirk, Worf, and Data went back in time and accidentally changed the time line - so they decided to enslave earth and outfit them with advance tech and invade an alternate universe (a parody of Babylon 5) where their shields were not working. Hope that helps your debates ... :)
so how come on the series star treck any time the ship takes a bump the weapons go off line and the shields drop to 10 percent ,but on this dream scape thay can actually do a little fighting ,but its your dream not mine
KingScorpion73 star fleet at warp happens in real space it’s not sub space at all they maneuver at warp they would outrun most of their weapons and out range them
@@kingscorpion7346 Large Capital ships like Omega Class destroyers and Minbari cruisers have Jump engines. Actually, when I think about it, only the major powers have Jump engines. The smaller powers need to use Jump Gates.
LondosHair It's probably from the Trek Mirror Universe given that the Starfleet ships just showed up and started firing. It hasn't been established whether or not the mirror universe has shield technology.
@@elkapitan_warcriminalcoyote That's a really bad excuse. I mean, I don't know if it's just something you say, or something it was decided upon, but that's not a good excuse at all. It's really just another line in the long line of " _My fandom kicks your fandom_ " instead of making it interesting, which really fails on B5's part since B5 is clearly a huge fan of making things interesting with the Omega Destroyers and White Star class. So much failed potential on display is what I am saying.
@@shawnbeckmann1847 if they have armour many meters thick then they will have a huge Mass which means they will not manoeuvre very well and would require huge amounts of energy to move at all.
I will say that this is most impressive. You have captured the feel of both fleets (except the Federation ships having shields). The hit and run tactics of the earth-mimbari vessels and the emergence of the 2nd B5 fleet to attack from the rear are well done. And the annimation is quite well done. Good job. getting ready to watch the 2nd part now...

even then, their phasers are on par with the heavy lasers. Each torpedo is flying at rail gun speeds, (not joking it only takes the torpedo about 2 seconds to cover 40,000 km. The pharer strips can ripple fire taking out dozens of fighters at once... we see enterprise do this. And they can do that out to a range of about 30,000 km. In truth the phaser would hit a warlock class even and burn right though it.
@@jenniferstewarts4851 Not only that, like people, even dedicated trekkies, are aware of how insanely OP is Starfleet, The 100 years older ships from the TOS era already had the power to blast entire continents in seconds when shooting at a planet with full phaser power, and maneuver at relativistic speeds (TOS Episode "Squire of Gothos" has the Enterprise running at full impulse [1/4th of the speed of light if I'm not mistaken] being chased out by a planet [yes, you've read right], just look at the viewscreen and look how mind bending quick is the huge planet moving, as the ship is doing evasive maneuvers so it doesn't get run over by it) meaning they can outrun any non laser/particle weapon that most sci fi universes could throw at them (modern TNG and DS9 ships with modified impulse drives could even outrun 40K nova cannon ordinance. However, this nerd speculation of power wanking has a double edge that can be used to explain why the Fed ships are under powered in the Babylon 5 Universe, the most important part of a story like this, being the diplomatic relationships after the ceasefire and how it will alter the future of both universes, because ship fighting and power wanking is fun but in the end, it's all about coming up with an entertaining story with st a hopeful but nuanced message that gives us optimism for the far future of our species.

Add to that that a shadow ship is wiped out by a single nuke, A single torpedo is going to vaporize a ship...
What an awesome video! I love Star Wreck but every time I watch this video, without all the comedy elements, it feels like the real Babylon 5 universe being invaded by Star Trek's Terran Empire. There's this really ominous feeling when the Potkustartti is tearing through the battlefield causing mayhem or the Excavator is blasting away with it's superweapon, and I love it.
Pretty considerate of Starfleet to lower their shields and conduct the battles at a snail's pace, shutting off their warp-drives, and even slowing down their weapons and replacing their ship's phasers with hand-phasers. WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
Ken Burns Yeah, cause they are old ships. Replace the Omegas by Warlocks (which feature art-grav and grav-drive as well as dispersive/refractary armor) and give the White Stars their true speed - SF would have heavy problems fighting those ships even with shields working.
Mat Sch They can't fight at warp, OR track, and they have lasers and other sublight weaponry. They just have that stupid "hyperspace" shit were this stupid acid-trip asshole-thingy pops up and they fly into the astral plane.
Ken Burns First: Warp doesnt matter cause ships at warp can only fight ships at warp (even a ship has to go sublight while the picard maneuver). Second: They do not use lasers since 2260; Narns do use X-ray lasers but the Omegas during Earth-Civil-War use medium particle pulse/beam weapons. Warlocks feature a dual particle beam cannon with so much power they instanly slice through other ships like butter ("the Lost Tales"). Third: The "stupid" hyperspace shit cost much less energy, no warp field is needed and u can cross the galaxy within days and month and not in years like Voyager has to - hyper- and quantum space speeds would be equal to supspace corridors and quantum slipstream!
Apparently you have not seen B.5. because if you did, you would know that the Babylon Station is not defenseless. It has fighters, and more than enough firepower to hold off star trek Winnebago. Besides, star trek is not the only ones whose shields are not shown. B.5 ships also had shields.
@@captainspire9094 why? shields obviously worked for the third space species? why wouldn't they work here? like most b5 vs star trek this video is garbage because it spends all its time gimping the star trek ships to make it a fair fight for b5.

You seem to have forgotten the description of the white star ship, it absorbs the energy of weapons and all you're left with is the physical impact so phasers would be zero damage and photon torpedoes would be negligible damage. The first ones would produce enough energy to destroy the white star.
it can only absorb so much before start taking damage, otherwise shadow ships or vorlon ships which both uses energy beam weapons would have no effect on them. it's also based on vorlon tech, and the fight between vorlon and shadows obviously took damage or destroyed. i'd imagine shadow tech also had energy absorption capabilities as the omega destroyers were based on shadow tech and the white star fleet also took them out with energy beam weapons
I've never seen Babylon 5, I might have to try and find it now. This is very well done and you've piqued my interest as to what and how those other ships work. I'll definitely be checking out part 2.
Babylon 5 uses a variety of weapons one of them being lasers. Bu the red lines you saw are particle beam weapons. Also Lasers come in different powers and sizes.
@@TheDude50447 It still wouldn't be enough for Star Trek era ships, especially not against the Sovereign class. Hell the Sovereign could just lob a few *Quantum Torpedoes* and every single ship barring potentially the White Star and that ship from Crusades ( _Forgot what it was called_ ) would had fallen right then and there. Now, imagine on the other hand, Omega Destroyers or that 3-winged Triangle ship with Type 14 Phaser Arrays and dual Phaser Spinal Lances instead of that Laser it used, and a shield system. Now we're talking more interesting battle when the battlegrounds get more evened out. Like a Defiant class with some Vorlon technology.
@@Zeithri if shields are present then Babylon 5 has no chance in general. But torpedos will most likely be ineffective. They will easily be picked off by the interceptor grids.
It doesn't matter if you think this is good, bad, a rip off, or what... but you have GOT to give creds for naming the Earth Force destroyer "BACKGAMMON" That's just fucking inspired!
This REALLY Needs to be rethought and remastered Federation ships have shields they would be active before they came out of the Hyper Gate . Even then a stronger ship would share their shields in part D class and E class have more than enough power to make it so .
Right 2 points to be made. 1) Shields! Is there any reason their "lasers" are penetrating shields any more effectively than phasers do? By star trek standards "lasers" are seriously primitive. 2) Warp drive. Babylon 5 ships are limited to less-than-light-speed they use hyperspace which involves gates. Ships can generate it too. But they are not in normal space. Photon Torpedo's travel at much-faster-than-light speeds. Realistically federation ships can jump to warp, drop out, unload a payload, warp out again. Babylon 5 ships can "hyperspace" but they can not "go to warp". Warp keeps federation ships in normal space, at faster than light speeds. Hyperspace does not increase the speed of a ship it merely shifts them into a different dimension of space separate from normal space. So a realistic battle, even with TOS era ships would be. Go to warp, maneuver, drop out, fire, go to warp. As "lasers" are slower than light speed. And ALL babylon 5 races us "sub-light speed" weapons including missiles, lasers, pulse cannons blah blah blah... It wouldn't be a fight so much as a slaughter. Fed ships can pretty much appear and disappear at will. Babylon 5 ships have no shields to counteract phasers. Federation ships do have shields. Oh and btw... TRANSPORTERS... Beam a torpedo aboard babylon 5 ships and go KABOOOM Fed ships have shields to prevent that, bab ships have nothing.
Daniel Foreman AFTER you learn that b-5 ships use particle cannons and plasma cannons, NOT LASERS, you will see they CAN damage fed ships(even with shields) and b-5 does have shields(forms of electomanetic shielding) wich even T.N.G. can't beam thru...ahhh hell, do your homework and you will see that it would be a good match... also, watch the movie "star wreck; in the perkinning" and you will understand about the "shields"...btw...the movie IS a farce and this person "stole" the scenes in this vid, mixed them around, and didn't "MAKE" anything except a cluster F@%K of the REAL movie...
1) We've seen them beam through all kinds of "electromagnetic interference" I seriously doubt B5 ships are equipped to deal with TNG sensors and their ability to quickly adapt. 2) Particles are NOT faster than lasers lol. Therefore my warp situation still holds.Warp in, unload phasers, warp out. You "might" be able to block transporters, but you can't sit there and tell me any B5 ships have anything like federation shields. 3) I don't give a crap if this person stole anything or made anything. The videos up, if you want to moan about copyright (cause you know this doesn't violate B5 or ST copyright's at all! lol) then take it up with google.
So by that logic, if a Jedi turns up in the babylon 5 universe they can't use the force? If that's the case, then doing any kind of vs video would be completely pointless. Dragon Ball without Ki Superman without his powers Jedi without force Battlestar galatica without FTL blah blah blah etc etc etc
Daniel Foreman IF it were actually the "federation" , AND they wen't to b-5, tos ships would be vaporized by b-5 weapons EVEN if they had their shields. the "wimpy" early season b-5 ships spinal mount does 64 terrajoules of damage... galixy class shields only absorb 900 megajoules before failing (1 watt ia equil to one joule)...the ablative armor with electomagnetic shielding used in later season ships disperse energy... and MANY times in ALL star trek series, electro magnetic interferience HAS stopped tranporters, and weapons locks( vorlons/shadows have actual shields that make fed shields look like tissue paper)... and yes b-5 does use lasers for defence, so does star trek(for offence and defence) and star trek isn't any more able to deal with b-5 tech than b-5 is with trek tech.( fyi 1 mega = 1 million/ 1 tera = 1 trillion)
This animation was from a fan film made years ago called Star Wreck... It's on youtube somwhere, but I think they replaced these sequences with fanmade ships over legal issues at some point since the original release.
The parody is called "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning" and is pretty hilarious in addition to featuring the great special effects shown here. I -think- it's free, too. Worth watching.
really nice animation... But... for real... Ships that need anti-grav-sections and without shields can just easily spear federation ships with their lasers??? lol... as other ppl saying here: The weapons ands shields of star trek are way more powerful than the b5 ships. Furthermore: The B5 battleships could just shoot down the photontorpedos? I don't think so :-) So The randomfire of these guns are way more precious than the pasers of the federation ships??? lol...
The shields of stark trek are way more powerful than than the b5 ships - cause most b5 ships have no shields at all - they use armor platting and or organic material which regenerates itself. The weapons however are insanly strong in b5. For example there is a Planetkiller by the vorlons which can just destroy a whole planet in one shoot. (this is the same tech some of the ships in this video uses just in a bigger ship) so these beams are indeed very powerfull and when I compare it to star trek lazers indeed penetrate star trek shields in just one hit. (comparing the damage a star trek ship laser woud do to normal surroundings with what a B5 ships laser can do and looking at how much of these a usuall star trek ship shield can handle) Also since B5's normal arsenal contains rockets, and other projectile based weapons its logical their point defense system are relativly advanced and totaly able to target photontorpedos. However, still Star Trek is way ahead, cause if theres a really big difference in ship designs its speed and agility. The B5 ships are basicly battleships - heavy, slow, cant turn very well - thats also the reason the really dangerous and advanced ships in the B5 universe like the white star class or the shadow ships are so op in the series - cause all their enemys are sluggish. Star Trek ships are not sluggish at all.
Well. It's Called Star Trek Vs Babylon 5. So this could mean that it's against the Bablyon Sector with a good Earth Alliances Fleet as we saw it here. But if that is meant to actually be Star Trek Franchise vs Babylon Franchise then were are the Vorlons and Shadows? Billions of years of technology so far beyond that those aren't shipy anymore but rather perfectly adapted living organisms that do not cloak but actually phase between the !extended! hyperspace (not the usual one) and normal space. Billions of years. Compared to those "first ones" the federation is a 3 years old child learning the first steps. And Telepaths and Psi-Core would probably also have an impact. I am a fan of both tv series btw. I like them both and we gotta admit that it's hard to compare. In one universe defense works mostely through shields - while in the other universe shields don't exist and armor is more what comes into play. So that alone makes it hard to compare. But a few hundred shadow battlecrabs phasing in and simply cutting a few fed-ships in half each time they open their screaming beam of fury should probably be something that we see in here :-) I think that Battlestar Galactica could maybe be easier compared to the physics of the bablyon 5 universe. But they just don't have that many ships there, do they? :-)

Because if we're letting any element of the two series be part of this then a Q would show up, snap his fingers, and the entire Bab5 universe would die, leading to a very boring video.
+Andrew Riggio Even if Q decided to sit this out, there are a great many other races or beings in Star Trek that could do the same thing, like Kevin on Rana 4. As to psychics, I guess the OP forgot that Starfleet alone has entire races of psychics, some of whom are vastly more powerful than a Psi-Cop, like Tam Elbrum from the Tin Man episode or Kes when her powers fully manifested. Let's not forget, we've seen a single nuke wipe out the most powerful ships in the Earth Alliance. A single photon torpedo is more powerful than any nuke being that they are antimatter based. The simple fact is that Star Trek was designed from the outset to be more high tech than B5 was. B5 was meant to be more gritty and realistic. Also, Star Trek has vastly more material to draw from, with a combined 31 seasons and 740 episodes to draw on, not even counting the movies. Star Trek is always going to have more tricks and power.
Seriously where are the federations shields?! Look I'm a big fan of the B5 series, in fact I like it more than most of the star trek series, better drama, more action, better acting and the characters were more believeble and interesting. But still even I will admit the federation would annilate most of the B5 races. Hell the Federation ships should run circles around those earth destroyers. Not to mention their weapons should blow them to kingdom come with a single shot
Lightning, to expand on on Riku's point, from what I remember, the Federation didn't say why their shields didn't work but said it was likely due to physics being different in the other universe. Also, yes the Federation should by more advanced. B5 took place to the equivalent of TOS era.
would not be too sure about that B5 ships were built to take a pounding and although B5 ships had lasers they also had heavy duty plasma cannons and interceptor self defence batteries but for the most part the smaller ships would give B5 an edge as they were much more agile than anything star trek had so they would have created havok with the ST ships especially the white stars
This is from a movie called "In the Pirkinning" (Russian from memory, google search it). It's part of the film, that they cross through a wormhole to get there and the shields don't work on the other side of it where they come into contact with the B5 ships.
The Federation captains decided to play nice and be sporting chaps and thought it would be unfair to raise their shields. In addition, they decided not to include quantum torpedoes in their volleys, and thought it would be REALLY bad form to fire volleys of transphasic torpedoes.
Actually Star Trek Ripped off B-5 with the 8472 Species and Ships as well They so similar to the Vorlon Ships fluidic space ie 3rd Space and so forth Michael Straczynsk sued Star Trek Franchise and won Millions Because he sent in his scripts to Star Trek and they turned him down b4 he was greenlighted to Make B-5 years later look it up.

Locutus von Borg make sure you assimilate reading. Bottom line: 20th century earth tech going thru a worm hole caused the shields to stop working. Or watch the real movie/video and understand it better.
nono, i have red it, no worries... and still... its bullshit... its like saying there are no cars, cause no one invented the wheel ... shields are so essential in star trek and there are so many different kind of shields that it is just not likely that no one at all has developed any kind of shield on the other hand... it would have made it so op ...
+BoydofZINJ They would not need to turn on the shields until they got there. Because they made a scan of the jumpgate . So they would still work. And don;t you say it still would effect the shield emitters or some other part of the ships. Because that would make you a trek hater!
Also the epic winning move by the Constitution class cruiser using a tractor beam to push the crippled sovereign class ship onto the Excalibur was awesome. The Excalibur is basically a flying brick so you can see its defeat from a mile away.
The Centauri have light gravimetric shields and the white stars have vorlon defense systems. Several races like EA, the Pak'ma'ra, and certain others, have specialized electro magnetic defenses that are considered "shield like" but not exactly shields. But they would heavily interfere with sensors or beaming and we know from TNG "Descent" and "Power Play" that beaming throung EM-interferences is not possible or very difficult without pattern enhancers on board the target.
Curious, WTF did the Federation ships pop in through the jumpgate for??? They don't need that technology, they had the advantage of warping in there anywhere they want and warping the hell owt, Excalibur and the WhiteStar ships or any other alien ships might've stood a chance but Earth Force ships??? Giddafokkowtahere... StarFleet would've hit them and they wouldn't have known what happen cause don't forget it's usually something coming through the gate that alerts B5 of danger Ships warping in out of nowhere... These aren't Federation vessels just cheap Russian knock-offs. These clips are taken from the film "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning" a kind of a loose parody of Star Trek.
one problem here, it seams that everyone is forgetting that star trek torpedo travels at the speed of light. shooting it down with B5 weapons is impossible.
For those wondering - in this "universe" it is stated in the movie this video is from that the Federation's shields do not function here. If they did....obviously we would have a one sided battle ;)
If the shields don't work, why do the phasers and photon torpedoes which should have obliterated those ships easily. Those are multi-megaton devices. Just two nukes took out a Minbari battleship.
I agree. The battle would not have lasted that long and would not have been that "interesting" but I do agree..in this or any universe..the Mimbar ships would put up a decent fight..but the Federation would have kicked ass! Still this is one hell of a movie/battle sequence.
B5-no shields, conventional missiles, high energy lasers vs Starfleet-phasers, ablative armor, shields and photon/quantum torpedo's. no contest, Starfleet wins. by the way what happened to starfleet shields???
You're wrong on that. The Omega: main weapons are 6 heavy Ion cannons and 18 heavy pulse cannons. The ship has 12 particle guns for anti starfighter defense. The ship also has a long range missile battery. The ship also has an interceptor grid that fires low powered energy beams to intercept incoming fire and uses electromagnetic fields to disperse energy that is fired at the ships. The interceptor grid also employs a system designed to decoy incoming missiles.
Actually, most larger vessels in the B5 universe; Alliance, Minbari, Centauri etc, all have their own jump point generators. Even the White Stars had them. they can pop out of hyperspace and pop back in, after their generator is recharged of course
DaMinecraftMike This was a comedy film. The full title of the film was literally called Star Wreck, In the Pirkinning. Hell those weren't even called Photon torpedoes in the film. They were literally called Light Balls and the Phasors Twinklers. And the explanation the film gave was that their shields don't work in this Babylon 5 verse.
+DaMinecraftMike Quantum torpedoes!? to do what? Photon torpedoes are enough,in this video the classic photon torpedoes are devastating enough on the Victory class Vorlon-hybrid ship! Quantum torpedoes to do what!?Photon torpedoes are enough.
JTN L In all honesty, nothing really. Its simply a fancier name to indicate its more advance and more powerful than the Photon Torpedoes. In-universe, Quantum Torps simply use a different method to generate the destructive energies it uses compared to the antimatter method of the Photon Torps.
DarkwarriorSFN 1.36K subscribers Cool, but no offense, but why didn't you have both sides Federation and Army of Light team up to fight both the Borg and Shadows instead of each other? Is this a Mirror Universe match up I'm so confused?
Yes. To form a jump point the ship needs a powerful reactor. Mostly large ships can form jump points. White Stars can do it too. Vorlon fighters are small and can form jump points due to Hyperspace tap reactors. They pack a powerful weapons also.
This is from a Star Trek parody film and things make more sense if you watch the whole movie. Starfleet is run by idiots and those ships are rushed and barely functioning. Earlier their flag ship failed to enter warp speed. Their shields are up, but they don't work against B5 weapons. Obviously for story reasons they nerfed all ships except Babylon 5's Omega destroyers.
I don't know why people try and figure out which sci fi series has the best technology. As far as humans go, nothing compares to Star Trek. B5, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Star Wars, all of them would lose to Star Fleet. Put two sci fi series that are on equal ground against each other.
I'm a bigger fan of B5. That being said. There is no way that B5 universe forces could hold up remotely that well against Star Trek tech advantages. Faster sublight speeds, more maneuverability than just about anything B5 forces have. The shielding, power outputs......RANGES of weapons. Hell the yields of standard Proton Torps and ranges alone. Devastating slaughter would ensue. Not to mention sensors and targeting.
If B5 is fighting trek anywhere near Epsilon III, B5 will win every time. What makes this video so insane and laughable is Epsilon III can destroy an entire armada within a few seconds, shields or not. The fed should stand a 0% chance of winning if this was a canon fight.
QuantumNova I'd not overlooked Epsilon III....Not like the battle was taking place anyplace else. But I'd also remembered that Epsilon III has either been asked, or has had to stand down several times during incidents in the show. I'd chalked that up as a possibility in this scenario.
killcat1971 They're not photon torpedoes here, they're 'lightballs' XD Seriously though, Babylon 5 tech has 'interceptors'. They can target incoming projectiles, even plasma bolts.
I love how in this video even while the Intrepid has a massive chunk of the hull missing the port or starboard phasers still work. Here's to the starfleet engineers.
Watch the movie Star Wreck - In the Pirkinning. It is clearly stated there that the shields were offline and not working in the B5 universe. Thus also all red particle stream and yellow particle pulse cannons of B5 ships hit the star trek ship hulls directly.
still_guns If I recall they used Amiga based "Video Toasters" to do the space Fx. While Star Trek was still using Miniature Models in DS9 and only really started using CGI during the Dominian Wars for the large fleet battles.
Now, I'm a huge, massive, unbelievable Babylon 5 fan, way more than Star Trek...and I nevertheless have to say that I seriously doubt that there's anything in the arsenal of the younger races that could even scratch Federation ships. Maybe some Minbari or Centauri stuff, but definitely nothing Narn or Human. Humans were technologically the least advanced species in the B5 universe. Once you get to Vorlons and Shadows, THEN you get to species that are playing on the same field (or higher) than the Federation.
RogueShadows Bab 5 space station would only use forces that are friendly to it and are part of its Independence Charter; Vorlons; Minbari; Narn, lesser species, possibly Centauri if Narn stepped away [after all, Narn ships are not great]. the Earth ships are only a few in number since the Earth Crisis so Bab 5 would obviously make calls to the Vorlons and Minbari etc. the Federation is the Federation. they no more trust the Romulans than they do the Klingons or any other species. i believe Narn troops would be used to attack 'away parties' that are beamed aboard Babylon 5. they make good ground troops.
Narn ships are fantastic...compared to League ships. Pretty sure that even before the Narn-Centauri war, though, the Narn were the weakest of the great powers, though in fairness they were only *slightly* behind Earth, and I'm pretty sure their weapons were actually more powerful on average thanks to the Narn philosophy of doing anything to get their hands on better weapons tech.
RogueShadows The Narn were quite a bit weaker than earth. They lost most of their technology in a war with the Centauri. By the end earth and Minbar were freely sharing technology. The Minbari were most like the Federation. Shielding, artificial gravity, strong ships.
The Star Trek ships deflector shields would have held off any weapons from the Babylon 5 EA fleet for a while, & their retaliatory strikes would have done serious damage to all but the MInbari-Vorlon inspired Whitestar ships & the Omega-class ships with their organic type armor to absorb/disipate the star trek phaser beams, to a point.
Which is a shame, because the movie was surprisingly well made. Decent production value, clever writing, pokes fun at both series. Legitimately funny. Man, now I gotta watch it again.
nope. this prettymuch sucks... this is so far off from how an actual battle would be between these two forces that its not even laughable, but rather infuriating.
B5 universe only has hyperspace as a different physics outside of hyperspace the B5 universe physics are the same as star trek, it is clear the whole physics crap was a way to justify making the star trek ships crap and weak just to give the B5 ships a fighting chance.
You have to remember that this is part of a bigger fan-made movie. I haven't seen it but from what I have heard it is really more of a parody than anything. The fighting isn't really the point. Someone else just took the battle scenes and edited them together to make one big fight. But the point of the movie isn't the fighting. The film maker said that due to unforseen physics in the B5 universe, ST shields and targeting systems didn't work. It's really their decision to make the plot of their fan-made movie work, you can't really argue with it.
you can argue it because its bullshit, like i said in a few other posts if the shields dont work than neither should the transporters or tractor beams or even PHASERS THEMSELVS! shields would technically be less sophisticated than a tractor beam as seen in enterprise they has basic shields working on small scales where as they had no idea how to make tractor beams work.
this video is taken from the movie called Star wreck: in the pirkinning. in its plot starfleet ships go through wormhole to B5 space and realise their shields does not seem work there.
These clips are from online movie called star wrek. When federation ships crossed over to babylon 5 space through hyperspace, their shields were all disabled/rendered useless.
Did you read both tech manuals? Just a question: Would you think a Starfleet shield can hold back constant fire of heavy particle beams? Do you know the true power output of a galaxy's phaser and an Omega's or Warlock's particle beam? You mentioned lower tech, lower energy? Can you proof? Just the fact something looks weak or disadvantaged does not make it weak or disadvantaged. I think they would make a very nice job during a confrontation...better than some Trek fans attribute them.
@Quantumnova, what you are trying to say is that Omegas, Warlocks and Victory do what its called solo jumping, due to the power requirements of their weapons system, they are able to jump without the aid of gates
Even with shield down,Defiant and Sovereign class ships have ablative armor and any torp explosion after it has been hit have over 300 km blast radius and power of 1000 nukes. So,every intercept photon and quantum would still deal damage to any Babylon ship
this is from an actual movie called Star Wreck... it's a Star trek spoof but had a major budget... and there shields don't work because... well they just don't work in the Babylon universe... it's explained in the full movie
As well as every Minbari White Star and Victory fires anti-matter streams or quantum discharges - means: gravitic enhanced beams. In fact, every Trekkie should know that those beams easily pass shields based on subspace distortion.
Jumped it a few times before closing the page but came back to try to locate a curiosity I saw just as the page shut down. Think you used the blasting cannons off a BattleStaR Galactica, or maybe not, but I don't want to take the time to find that curiosity of a BSG Viper I think I saw in one of the scenes there.
It's Footage from a spoof movie called Star Wreck in the pirkinning where the phasers were called twinklers and the photon torpedoes were called light balls. They even loaded torpedoes with beer bottles at one point and the shields didn't work after crossing into the babylon 5 world for whatever reason. Point being it isn't a serious comparison yet people keep re-editing this footage and uploading it like it's some serious thing or that they created it etc.
For anyone who is wondering where this came from, and not just watching the damn video and then immediately getting in a hissy fit over what happened, this is from a fan made movie as marc80s already stated called "Star Wreck in the Pirkinning". It is actually a pretty entertaining movie with a decent storyline and both parts of this video cover two different battles that happened with about half a day in-between them. Also I know there were no shield but they do address that issue in the movie. Seriously watch the movie, it is about 2 hours long if memory serves me correctly and it is both funny and pretty entertaining for a fan flick.
This person didn't make this video. It's actually from Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning. You should check it out. It's kind of silly but fairly well done all things considered.
2:00 to 2:05, either the scale is messed up or someone has been lying to me about the comparative sizes of the Sovereign and Galaxy classes. Oh, and I echo what everyone is saying about shields and technology levels.
What the frack. What happen to the federation shields and also the torpedoes when fired it goes into hi warp which it cannot be intercepted by counter measure
It isnt a fair display of both sides tech - where were the new Warlock destroyers with their heavy punch through weapon? Where were all the Starfury squadrons an Omega can lunch? Where is the high acceleration and turning speed of the Defiants and the White Stars?
When the Federation has no shields and targeting? Probably. In the fan movie they said the B5 universe different physics messed up ST targeting and shields.
these videos are like 10 years old and i always wondered why the federation ships never had shields, if they said that the B5 universe messed with Star trek Tech thats fucking bullshit cause all the ships should have blown up when antimatter was introduced into the warp core to generate power. that or the ships simply wouldn't function at all!

Phasers are effective to do damage…

Ships and fighters will need to work together to knock down the shields…LOL
It’s still a great story
so how come on the series star treck any time the ship takes a bump the weapons go off line and the shields drop to 10 percent ,but on this dream scape thay can actually do a little fighting ,but its your dream not mine
and... not to mention that Starfleet ships don't need a jump gate to use hyperspace. they have their own warp drive to go through subspace...
Don't just the smaller ships in B5 need a jump gate?
@@jeffkardosjr.3825 actually, I think most ships in B5 need jump gates. but I do remember that the White Star fleet of ships didn't.

Well in all honesty, Star Fleet probably felt that way.
Did the Federation ships lower their shields just to make it fair?!
According to the movie, shields don't work in the Babel 13 reality for reasons that I cannot remember
the Babylon weapons might be able to destroy shields that fast
But the thirdspace race have shields in Babylon 5 and they work in our universe.

Just Panty Shields ...
LondosHair It's probably from the Trek Mirror Universe given that the Starfleet ships just showed up and started firing. It hasn't been established whether or not the mirror universe has shield technology.
LondosHair universe change or maybe shields
The starfleet ships were unable to use their shields in the B-5 universe, also the starfleet ships are just knock-offs constructed in the 21st century
@@elkapitan_warcriminalcoyote That's a really bad excuse.

Trek shields somehow do not work in the B5 universe.
10 years later, this still holds up as a fantastic piece of work!
The Star Fleet Vessels shouldn’t miss. They all have computerised targeting.
..unless Emperor Pirk him self decides to aim manually. Those ships were poor quality and barely functioning in this film.
The B5 universe is well established to have pretty strong ECM.
@@backtoearth1983 This is not the B5 universe we know, so there's that and ECM is easily countered by Federation sensors but this is not the Trek universe we know, so there's that too.
For those wondering when the federation ships crossed into the B-5 universe, their shield technology failed so it was a fair fight.
the shilds failt an there weapons power was down to 1% u mean i mean come a nuke coult kill a sharlan class of the mimbari and a photon is way more power an the pahser seam to miss most of the time wich is kinda dump with the strong sensor tech and the precision starflett has but other than that was a good series
even then, their phasers are on par with the heavy lasers.

Do you think the Earth Force Alliance would still stood no chance against the federation and why?
@@GameslordXY The advanced destroyers still lacked artificial gravity. They still got shredded by even the white-stars, and white stars are slow and short ranged compared to the Defiant class.
Remember B-5 ships generally had 5-15g's of thrust, and engagement ranges of 5-50 km. MAYBE 100km. Startrek we have engagement ranges of 40,000 km.
Considerate of them to use weakest B5 ships. Funny how no B5 shield races were used.
Richard Poleet They still use centripetal gravity; it'd be like nuclear submarines against 18th-century frigates.
A fully powered federation ship is enough to mow down entire earth force fleet.
In the end, the "federation" commander left his whole fleet open for attack. Also, in the b5 universe, none of the shields worked.

You should watch Babylon 5. This is simply an amazing series. If you like sci fi, and a great story. Babylon 5 has it all. Seriously!!!
The EDF uses laser based energy weapons, which has been stated in TNG cannot even penetrate the navigation shielding on a federation starship.
Technically its Pulsed Plasma. I.e. disruptors
Like a Defiant class with some Vorlon technology.

unrealistic
the Star Trek ships are moving in more than just two dimensions!
It doesn't matter if you think this is good, bad, a rip off, or what... but you have GOT to give creds for naming the Earth Force destroyer "BACKGAMMON" That's just fucking inspired!
Despite the fact that there are no shields, the animation and the explosion are tremendously made. Well done! I really enjoyed it.
This REALLY Needs to be rethought and remastered
Federation ships have shields they would be active before they came out of the Hyper Gate .
Even then a stronger ship would share their shields in part D class and E class have more than enough power to make it so .
no shields on the Trek ships whos the maker of this? not even deflectors are on in this im calling major uneven grounds on BB5 weapons
Beam a torpedo aboard babylon 5 ships and go KABOOOM
Fed ships have shields to prevent that, bab ships have nothing.
Fed shields don't work in the bb5 universe
Bb5's physics are diff I guess
So by that logic, if a Jedi turns up in the babylon 5 universe they can't use the force?
If that's the case, then doing any kind of vs video would be completely pointless.
Dragon Ball without Ki
Superman without his powers
Jedi without force
Battlestar galatica without FTL
blah blah blah etc etc etc
(comparing the damage a star trek ship laser woud do to normal surroundings with what a B5 ships laser can do and looking at how much of these a usuall star trek ship shield can handle)
Also since B5's normal arsenal contains rockets, and other projectile based weapons its logical their point defense system are relativly advanced and totaly able to target photontorpedos.
EM Interceptors bro. They probably can shoot down anything that's not a solid beam weapon.
But a few hundred shadow battlecrabs phasing in and simply cutting a few fed-ships in half each time they open their screaming beam of fury should probably be something that we see in here :-)
I think that Battlestar Galactica could maybe be easier compared to the physics of the bablyon 5 universe. But they just don't have that many ships there, do they? :-)
+Manni-Gaming This is a scene from the Star Wrek parody series - where their version of Kirk, Worf, and Data went back in time and accidentally changed the time line - so they decided to enslave earth and outfit them with advance tech. Because if we're letting any element of the two series be part of this then a Q would show up, snap his fingers, and the entire Bab5 universe would die, leading to a very boring video.
But not before screwing with Picard. xD "END THIS Q!"
+Andrew Riggio
Even if Q decided to sit this out, there are a great many other races or beings in Star Trek that could do the same thing, like Kevin on Rana 4.
A bit too convenient for my taste, given how in s straight up fight the federation would annihilate Earth ships
Literally they ripped off everything but left out the logical parts. This isnt even terran empire starfleet......

Locutus von Borg make sure you assimilate reading. Bottom line: 20th century earth tech going thru a worm hole caused the shields to stop working. Or watch the real movie/video and understand it better.
nono, i have red it, no worries... and still... its bullshit... its like saying there are no cars, cause no one invented the wheel ... shields are so essential in star trek and there are so many different kind of shields that it is just not likely that no one at all has developed any kind of shield
on the other hand... it would have made it so op ...
+BoydofZINJ They would not need to turn on the shields until they got there. Because they made a scan of the jumpgate .
So they would still work. And don;t you say it still would effect the shield emitters or some other part of the ships. Because that would make you a trek hater!
Since the Federation is attacking first.
Just beam the crews into space. At a distance. One. By. One. Nothing B5 guys could do.
yep, no shields, no battle. the end. teleportation wins.
now if starwars could just figure out that TK wins every time too...but they never use it.

Sheesh, 2 or 3 Defiant class vessels alone would've gave them arses pure hell big tyyyymeee!!!
And you know this... Mayyynnn!!!
These aren't Federation vessels just cheap Russian knock-offs.
These clips are taken from the film "Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning" a kind of a loose parody of Star Trek.
Apollo Mann I think it does. If you watch the full movie you will see the main character (who created the starfleet knockoff) was kind of inept.
Lasers would be primative technology for Star Trek ships. And no shields?
fusion beams, very similar to phasers. ile take 15meters of armour to a shield anyday
@@backtoearth1983 Uh yeah sure.
Come back after trying this strategy in Master of Orion.
Earth Force Capital ships actually pack quite a punch but Federation shielding would have made it a one sided fight.
Well done. Is it a mash up from Star Wreck the Swedish (I think) movie parodies?
one problem here, it seams that everyone is forgetting that star trek torpedo travels at the speed of light. shooting it down with B5 weapons is impossible.
These are not actually Starfleet ships, the scenes arefrom Star Wreck, and those ships are the cheap knockoffs of the already shittier P-fleet.
Photon torpedoes do not travel anywhere near the speed of light.
Now just why again are they fighting?
In the fan-made movie the dictator who has taken control of ST invades B5 universe for their resources.
Tim Trivellin and Basic radiation cripples even the MOST advanced star trek ship...it took the actual blast damage to destroy the Minbari.
B5-no shields, conventional missiles, high energy lasers vs Starfleet-phasers, ablative armor, shields and photon/quantum torpedo's. no contest, Starfleet wins. by the way what happened to starfleet shields???
Starfleet uses Panty Shields on their Heavy Flow Days...
@@shawnbeckmann1847 I forgot about that one
Fed admiral: ”Shields up!”
Officer: ”Sir, the video wouldn’t last long enough to produce us money.”
Admiral: ”Oh right, delay that order!”
Just put those damn shields up
Also where is the quantum torpedo
Star trek ships have sheilds tho arent they using them??????? And why only photon torpedoes why no quantum torpedoes? ??
DaMinecraftMike This was a comedy film. The full title of the film was literally called Star Wreck, In the Pirkinning.
Hell those weren't even called Photon torpedoes in the film. They were literally called Light Balls and the Phasors Twinklers. And the explanation the film gave was that their shields don't work in this Babylon 5 verse.
HellsRaven4444 That makes sense. Ok. Fascinating.
+DaMinecraftMike
Quantum torpedoes!?
to do what?
Photon torpedoes are enough,in this video the classic photon torpedoes are devastating enough on the Victory class Vorlon-hybrid ship!
Quantum torpedoes to do what!?Photon torpedoes are enough.
+DaMinecraftMike I'm slightly confused about Photon and Quantum torpedoes. What's the difference?
JTN L In all honesty, nothing really. Its simply a fancier name to indicate its more advance and more powerful than the Photon Torpedoes.
In-universe, Quantum Torps simply use a different method to generate the destructive energies it uses compared to the antimatter method of the Photon Torps.
you forgot that science proves that lasers cant penetrate starships shields , shields can absorb about 84% of the enregy of lasers.
DarkwarriorSFN
1.36K subscribers Cool, but no offense, but why didn't you have both sides Federation and Army of Light team up to fight both the Borg and Shadows instead of each other? Is this a Mirror Universe match up I'm so confused?
Yes. To form a jump point the ship needs a powerful reactor. Mostly large ships can form jump points. White Stars can do it too.
Vorlon fighters are small and can form jump points due to Hyperspace tap reactors. They pack a powerful weapons also.
Ok this is where Starfleets says "let's turn off our shields and not fire any phasers until we give them time to fire a couple 100 times"
This is from a Star Trek parody film and things make more sense if you watch the whole movie. Starfleet is run by idiots and those ships are rushed and barely functioning. Earlier their flag ship failed to enter warp speed. Their shields are up, but they don't work against B5 weapons. Obviously for story reasons they nerfed all ships except Babylon 5's Omega destroyers.
and look at these guys fighting over a video about every single detail, dudes! get a life! not everything's perfect!
I don't know why people try and figure out which sci fi series has the best technology. As far as humans go, nothing compares to Star Trek. B5, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Star Wars, all of them would lose to Star Fleet. Put two sci fi series that are on equal ground against each other.
we have phones and trasporters and some lasers and a few stuff
I'd chalked that up as a possibility in this scenario.
no shields on the FED side? Or did I miss something? = /
one thing I like is how the music has both a sespensful/action feeling to it while still seeming to suit star trek, the graphics are great too!
99% of comments are people wining about the lack of federation shields, calm down people it just entertainment.
NO I WILL NOT CALM DOWN!!
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Ok this wouldnt even be a contest the B5 ships would never be able to get through the shields of any of the federation ships
People wondering why the shields aren't there, the official reason from Star Wreck was they can't exist in the B5 universe.
Because...you know...B5 ships need a chance
Wrong. The race of thirdspace universe have ships with shields in Babylon 5. =)
Doesn't explain why they could shoot down photon torpedoes, or why a weapon with an Antimatter warhead didn't destroy everything it it.
killcat1971 They're not photon torpedoes here, they're 'lightballs' XD
Seriously though, Babylon 5 tech has 'interceptors'. They can target incoming projectiles, even plasma bolts.
still_guns
I would hope they would be a bit faster than that, otherwise phasers could intercept them :0
I love how in this video even while the Intrepid has a massive chunk of the hull missing the port or starboard phasers still work.
Backgammon? Loool!
Aye I know lol
Graphics are better than the actual B5 show's were.
B5 never had a big budget, they had to cut corners
still_guns If I recall they used Amiga based "Video Toasters" to do the space Fx.
Well technically, it's impossible to tell since both shows take place in completely different universes. :p
The Minbari didn't have shields that I recall. In fact in all of B5 the only race I recall using shields were the Thirdspace aliens.
It's funny coming back here every once in a while and seeing the comments still not realizing these are clips from a parody movie.
Which is a shame, because the movie was surprisingly well made. Decent production value, clever writing, pokes fun at both series. Legitimately funny. Man, now I gotta watch it again.
why would Star Trek be fighting Babylon 5? Why not have Star Trek fight the Shadows or Babylon 5 fight the Borg or the Dominion?
Did the federation fleet forget their shield generators at home?
ALL OF THIS!!!! I mean no shields...Seriously :/
nope. this prettymuch sucks... this is so far off from how an actual battle would be between these two forces that its not even laughable, but rather infuriating.
ST had no shields or targeting because of different physics in B5 universe. That makes it more understandable how things went in the battle.
Gotta tell you, I happened across this and part II and was extremely impressed with the effects. Outstanding job!
this video is taken from the movie called Star wreck: in the pirkinning. in its plot starfleet ships go through wormhole to B5 space and realise their shields does not seem work there.
total bs star Trek ships has shields
Blantant ripoff of Star Wreck footage
Full credit is given to the Star Wreck team for the footage
+Mortech1233 Very funny, Star Whores ?
Awesome work, DarkwarriorSFN!!!! Very impressive! Looking forward to seeing part 2! You just earned a new subscriber! :)
I like seeing voyager destroyed as much as the next guy, but federation ships being taken out by kinetic weapons?
Did you remove the shields and warp drives to make the video last longer. It sure seems that way.
This is a seriously nice piece of work!
Gotta wonder how much research the makers of Star Wreck did for this.
Excellent video... good combat, good pacing. The Fed. shields are grossly underrated however. still a good watch.
This seems to be set in the B5 universe using their physics. No warp drive, no teleport, and no shields.
What happen to the federation shields and also the torpedoes when fired it goes into hi warp which it cannot be intercepted by counter measure
thanks for making and sharing this used to dream of something like this as a kid and here is you doing it hat off to you
How did you make sure outstanding presentation as this ?
It isnt a fair display of both sides tech - where were the new Warlock destroyers with their heavy punch through weapon? Where were all the Starfury squadrons an Omega can lunch? Where is the high acceleration and turning speed of the Defiants and the White Stars?
I've never seen any tech readouts for Babylon 5 craft, you think they'd really fare this well against federation Tech?
When the Federation has no shields and targeting? Probably. In the fan movie they said the B5 universe different physics messed up ST targeting and shields.
these videos are like 10 years old and i always wondered why the federation ships never had shields, if they said that the B5 universe messed with Star trek Tech thats fucking bullshit cause all the ships should have blown up when antimatter was introduced into the warp core to generate power. that or the ships simply wouldn't function at all!
