i regularly rewatch this, but i agree completely miss this show and the universe. still not surpassed for battle scenes and writing in my opinion, although the expanse comes very very close
Wow! That was really cool. Very close to how B5 handled its space and battle shots. And I loved the fighter and carrier variants for the White Star. :D
The White Star ships was in fact small cruisers of a size, that could by knowledge of Earth technology not open their own jumpwindows.... But as they was Mimbari Vorlon hybrid technology, they could. Also they sported a heavy Front mounted Main weapon, that could in fact kill a battlecrab on it's own..... Well it needed to rook everything it has in the shot, so the Main strategy would be to use more than one whitestar if possible. So far so Well written, also a very good reflection of how battle in B5 was shot, that this sharlin seems to standstill and shoot straight forward. In fact the battlecrab was the first ship seen, that could fire it's Wespennest n in Angels and even strafe it around while firing. White Stars also could do so but rarely did. Another Well matched point is, that the overwhelming maneuverabillity of the White Star class lead to fighter squadron like tactics, where the White Stars looked like small like hell ships, dwarfed by their opponents, while in fact, when it cames to resillience and firepower, they dwarfed them. The only 4 points I have to object on.... ISA outpost..... While ISA was after the end of the shadow war?!? Scripterror? 6 whitestar firing at the battlecrab from the 6 cardinal directions..... Well, a bit of an Overkill and some unnessecary posing with Power to do it in a clear Formation, not really Ranger style and also it needs the additional shots of those fleetcarriers? Really Fleetcarriers? They was Well done, not perfekt, from behind I thought for a Moment "New Alien foes? This shot did not Hit the clear recognizable Design pattern each and every races ships had (White Stars as Mimbari Vorlon hybride had their own) but why in Valens Name should one built a fleetcarrier for ships, what are already the most powerfull and fastest ships in normal space and hyperspace alike. I just dont see a reasoning for Such a moloch of a ship. It's maybe more easy to trap a carrier and destroy him while leaving hyperspace, than to go toe on toe even with 2 or 3 of the White Star ships on Board. Ah and why in Valens Name is as this White Star attack group engaging the battlecrab and loosing 2 or 3 ships, only one firing any weapons. On the ofer side, cgi was in parts even better than in the original Show, but planetary buildings looked as cgi as earthdome looked at the Show, also Planet behind was bland empty, like sometimes at the Show, this reminded me to the original, this Mix of great cgi (to the time of the show) and some bland cgis on minor things on the other side. Well place on this point. The Musik in B5 Hit the nail always. Here it was a good shot on the music, but only a near hit. Well,aybe I am a bit hard in judgement as I have just seen an Episode of the Show a couple of hours again.

P.S. Maybe that's not a carrier in the classical sense, Maybe it's a jump-capable White Star Giga-Factory? I have always thought Elon Musk is actually a Vorlon :)

Those were fighters which were taken out during the initial attack on the second Battlecrab - the angle and speed makes it harder to spot, but they have single fins at the rear not the dual fin of a Whitestar. They also had to watch their fire during the attack due to the rather line ahead formation they were attacking in. The fighters did exist in one of the canon books - I think "To Dream In The City Of Sorrows". Haven't read it for a while, but if I recall it covered a mission right at the beginning of Sinclairs role as Entil'Zha, and explained both the disappearance of Catherine Sakai and the facial scar Sinclair had in War Without End. I rather liked the carriers - after all the ISA designed and built the Excalibur and the Victory due to the need for a bigger and more powerful ship than the Whitestars. IMO their look was close enough to the Whitestars that I was pretty sure they were ISA/Ranger ships as soon as I saw them.
Yes! This is awesome. What happens at 3:36 is how I've always thought the battle in episode 11 season 4 "Lines of Communication" should have ended, i.e. multiple White Stars all swinging around to hit the Drakh mothership simultaneously. As filmed, Delenn's ship takes it on alone but it would have been sooo good to have a sudden coordinated strike like you've shown here. Excellent work.
Omigosh---wonderful work here. Those Shadow vessels were so creepy but so were the Vorlon ships! I missed the series so much I bought the disc set. I just loved the Bab-5 series!
Miss this show. It was fringe when it came out. There were people who hated and those who loved it. But it had all the elements everyone wanted to see in scifi

I loved the way the white stars spun around the shadow ship as they were firing. I remember reading Niven and Pournelle's 'Mote Around God's Eye' books in which they describe space battles as incredibly beautiful things to watch, and this scene evoked that sentiment.
The jump point effect looks updated and are now super similar to the one on the show. Gorgeous. And your use of the music from the Soulhunter episode was excellent.
Thanks, but that's really down to improved software & higher resolution. I use the same 3D package that Foundation Imaging used to make the scenes so getting the B5 'look' is pretty easy.
So beautifully rendered. I really miss that show. It set the bar for sci-fi shows, a bar no Star Trek show at that time could reach. MJS single handed that show. That was quite a feat too.

Nice video except for the part about Shadow vessels attacking an ISA outpost. All of the first ones, including the Shadows had left the galaxy well before the Interstellar Alliance was formed.
Maybe there were a few stragglers that didn't want to go. Or maybe the Drakh found some ships that the Shadows never got around to retrieving during the war and were left behind when they departed for the rim.
The shadow ships are so strong now and are the same as they used 1000 years ago. Imagine how unstoppable they were in the first shadow war and how strong they could be now had they been in advance development for the last 1000 years instead of sleeping and waiting.
This is really good. Makes me miss B5. I thought it was the best written and acted Sci-fy series of all time with epic space battles and such a wild plot to it. I wish they could do a Babylon 6 series.....
great animation, true to the show in many aspects. he battle tactics I have thoughts on. mainly it's hard to tell at a glance which of the 3 ship types were being swatted like flies after chasing in a column formation (off choice considering the whitestars absolute manoeuvrability advantage) and which were landing (and more importantly taking) the meaningful shots. fighters as a frontline engagement force against a space-crab seems like a sub-par choice given it's firepower and resilience against far more destructive weapon, better to have them act as wingmen to the larger craft and support them as needed. that 6 regular whitestars (in a pattern-pretty-suicide formation because the moment the enemy dies they shoot their allies and in space even the speed of light/information can affect how long you end up over-burning a target for) plus 2 heavy-carriers were needed to finish the second ship of speaks further to the pointlessness of sending fighters lacking in heavier weaponry (not even an energy-missile or bomb load) in first for a fight between juggernauts.
Several points here ... First, this is the BEST SFX I've seen in a long time. Star Trek and Star Wars fanfic video makers SHOULD be coming to you for their out space scenes. Second, the scenarios are well thought out: While I do disagree on a few points your work is MOVIE- WORTHY. And Third, which distresses me a lot: The Babylon 5 reboot series is supposed to be aired on the CW channel, and I seriously believe not only will their SFX be inferior to what you have here, but... B5 the new series will be cancelled after a few episodes.

That was my only complaint about this. The ISA was formed long after the end of the Shadow war so that doesn't make sense. Apart from that this was frigging awesome!
its interesting as 1 white star can actually kill one shadow ship (if they divert all power to centre gun) 2-3 under normal fire would easy kill it never mind them transport ships firing as well
Nice video but what does the Whitestars need Carriers for? Loved the Carriers design by the way, but Whitestars were known for being the only ships of there size that could open a way into Hyper Space.
I suspect the carriers were for the smaller "Bluestar" personal transports/fighters, not the full-sized Whitestars. the normal Whitestar class was itself a carrier, housing several Membari fighters, but the smaller Bluestar, as used by Sherridon in "Sleeping in Light" was much smaller than a regular Whitestar so likely did not have space for its own hyperdrive (or whatever B5 called them, sorry it's been about a decade since I last rewatched it)
From what I remember they were only mentioned once as a todo list but not built by the end of the show ( though they probably existed at the final episode that was set twenty years later but not shown )
@@jameshead9119 Regarding the Whitestar carriers - the future ship class mentioned by Sheridan in season 5 I'm sure is the Excalibur and Victory from Crusade set 5 years later. (I got this video in my recommended list again)

Uh, didn't the ISA get formed towards the end of the B5-Earth Alliance Civil war and well *after* the end of the Shadow War, when the Shadows and Vorlons had already left to go beyond the rim? Any "base" when the Shadows were still around would have to be Minbari, Ranger, or Earth Alliance, and not ISA.

I saw J. Michael Straczynski give a talk at MIT about his creation. He was proud of it like a kid bringing home an art project from elementary school.
I miss that show. It had , in my opinion, some of the coolest battle scenes.

You can add your own ships and fly around with them in SE, it's not very 'gamey' though. I added the Whitestar, but the controls are whack lol

@@karagothshlomidabush3727 You can mod in a textured model and fly it around, that's all. There's vids on YT on how to do it :) It's not really worth the effort tbo.

Maybe there was a group of Shadows who came out of hibernation late. Therefore, they wouldn't know the rest of their people had left the galaxy.
That was my only complaint about this. The ISA was formed long after the end of the Shadow war so that doesn't make sense. Apart from that this was frigging awesome!

The only two scifi tv shows. I really love is Babylon5 and all of Star Trek up to Star Trek Enterprise.
its interesting as 1 white star can actually kill one shadow ship (if they divert all power to centre gun) 2-3 under normal fire would easy kill it never mind them transport ships firing as well
So we had a super white Star class carrier in here which capable to launch regular white Star monitor 👍😀
Nice video but what does the Whitestars need Carriers for? Loved the Carriers design by the way, but Whitestars were known for being the only ships of there size that could open a way into Hyper Space.
I suspect the carriers were for the smaller "Bluestar" personal transports/fighters, not the full-sized Whitestars.
the normal Whitestar class was itself a carrier, housing several Membari fighters, but the smaller Bluestar, as used by Sherridon in "Sleeping in Light" was much smaller than a regular Whitestar so likely did not have space for its own hyperdrive (or whatever B5 called them, sorry it's been about a decade since I last rewatched it)

Wow never saw a whitestar carrier before. This was beautiful. Guess some shadows stayed behind. Reminds me of a crusade fanfic I tried doing.
From what I remember they were only mentioned once as a todo list but not built by the end of the show ( though they probably existed at the final episode that was set twenty years later but not shown )
@@jameshead9119 Regarding the Whitestar carriers - the future ship class mentioned by Sheridan in season 5 I'm sure is the Excalibur and Victory from Crusade set 5 years later. (I got this video in my recommended list again)
@@lucasbachmann it’s possible but personally I never liked the victory in that it had little in common with mimbari vorlon or earth tech in its lines let alone a fusion of them

Uh, didn't the ISA get formed towards the end of the B5-Earth Alliance Civil war and well *after* the end of the Shadow War, when the Shadows and Vorlons had already left to go beyond the rim? Any "base" when the Shadows were still around would have to be Minbari, Ranger, or Earth Alliance, and not ISA.
