The song came out right after we moved into Iraq which was based on a lie. There were no weapons of mass destruction. The line from the song "hangers sitting dripped in oil" tells what it was really about. Look up all the lyrics for a better understanding.
I would disagree with that. History proves otherwise. You just get different people getting put or elected as leaders. Just because a few nations don’t have leaders that will fight, others will. When you only think of superpowers of today, yeah. But when things are a certain way for so long, something will happen to force a change
To me when they say "everyboydy's going to the party have a real good time, dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine" The party=War.. and they're kinda pointing out the nonchalant attitude toward war and going to war.. I could be way off, but that's what it means to me. :)
"Everybody going to the party have a real good time...." refers to the troops deployed to the gulf wars/desert. It's mocking how media and government downplayed the seriousness of the situation and dangers troops were facing. "Where the F are you?" is similar mocking of the media spin and recruitment efforts - making citizens feel like they were missing out and feeling guilty for not supporting or joining the war effort.
Great song, if you haven't reacted to Prison Song you definitely should, Soldier Side is one of my favorite songs by SOAD. I don't think it's ever been on the radio, but it's a really good song also dealing with the horrors of war.
I watch a lot of reactions and channels. You should never second guess yourself or feel bad about not understanding a lyric or or not catching a fleeting metaphor here or there. You have actually brought shit to light on a first listen, that i hadnt gotten in a hundred plus listens of a song. Its your thing and youre damn good at it. Love this fuckin channel.
Dancin in the desert is the line you missed in the chorus. They're talking about the Gulf War(s). Afghanistan, and such. Hangers dripping oil crying FREEDOM. The media treated the war like a party. But we were sending poor people to die in a foreign war that....maybe we shouldn't have been involved in. Or if it was important, why wasn't the President there fighting? Zelensky had a lot of problems, but when his country was under attack, he was there with his men. He caused some of the issues by trying to kiss Russian arse, but when push came to shove...he was there. More than i can say for a lot of our politicians.
Well you fell for the trap. They purposefully dressed up zelensky to make it appear that he is in there fighting with his men. Its for a reason that he wears military green all the time. You are being fooled with this
I can’t lie brother you hit the nail on the coffin with the understanding of the lyrics. But here’s a fun fact you may have missed. Near the end of the video, you see “snow” falling in the desert, that’s not “snow” because it cannot physically snow in a desert, but that’s SOAD ash, leftovers from a nuclear explosion hence soad (system of a down) keep it up though brother 🫡
LOL, you've just started down the rabbit hole my friend...as someone who was in high school when this album came out, it's almost a time capsule of many young people's reaction to George W. Bush's War on Terror, and SOAD being of Armenian ancestry, they have a long cultural memory of being exploited and killed (Look up the Armenian genocide)...but I think you nailed the feel, the la-la-la's are sarcastic and the chorus is criticizing the mainstream party culture who were not paying attention to what the US (and many allied nations) were doing with their tax money in their name...
Found the channel for Metallica, stayed around for this though! Been a minute since I heard this. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND lots of old metallica. I got other bands but slow and steady my friend. Enjoy the ride!
I always knew it as Bring Your Own Beer...but I met someone who grew up very religious and to her it stood for Bring Your Own Bible. That was a new one to me!!
When he talks about going to the party and having a good time he’s talking about those that think war is golly gee fun (because they’re not the ones having to actually go fight) or those always advocating for war because it’s extremely profitable for contractors and the military industrial complex. Blowing up the sunshine is a reference to the US war on Islam and the dropping of bombs in the Middle East which is mostly desert and sunshine
if you're looking for a good example of the knowledge and message that SOAD puts out there. "Prison song" is poignant and powerful. It also f***ing slaps!
everyone is going to the party having a good time has a dual meaning. as someone who lived through it when the war in Iraq and Afghanistan started almost the entire country was in favor of it Bush had a 85% popularity at the time. Also the war in the desert having a good time speaks to restarting colonialism that what we really wanted was to lock down these oil resources for our country and our allies. So it was a restart of colonialism. This band grew up as essentially refugees from a war where the US was on the side of totalitarian dictators messing up their tiny country on the border of the middle east and Europe. So they were in a perfect position to know the geopolitics of the area and not be blinded by the patriotic sentiment and anger and grief from 9/11 because they knew what total war actually looked like from their lived experience.
Once upon a time many of our Presidents where war veterans. They served and defended our nation and then pursued political office later in life with knowledge and life experiences... these days we have the "Career Politian"... these are people who go to school for political science and law degrees and do nothing else in life but hold political office. This trend began with the draft dodgers of the Vietnam War, they avoided going to war by staying in school... usually wealthy kids. There's a simplified explanation of why the poor and not the leaders fight the wars.
The worm has turned for you my friend. There's a party in iraq. Everyone welcome. BYOB and we'll have a good time. I promise. The mushroom cloud will block out the sunshine.
This great band music is all about against the establishment. But mainly it’s against the establishment of Arminian (That’s where they’re from original) and the Russian on how they sir press the population of that country.
He's talking about the war in Iraq specifically but it applies all the time. I'm not really a metal guy and only know a few of their songs. They seem to always write about heavy stuff. I think the "good time" is simply mocking the fist shaking, flag waving populace who thought it was great when the US decided to flex "our" muscle in Iraq over false pretenses.
Listen, I’m about to be real political right now and I’m sorry, but this song obviously came out back in the day one of my favorite bands of all time but I’m gonna say this it was like a premonition for the Biden administration which screwed up our country, but that’s OK. Papa Trump is back.
The song came out right after we moved into Iraq which was based on a lie. There were no weapons of mass destruction. The line from the song "hangers sitting dripped in oil" tells what it was really about. Look up all the lyrics for a better understanding.
*hangars
Vietnam was also based on a lie.
"Sounds like he's mocking someone." YEUP! NAILED IT! DUDE YOUR ON THE SPOT LYRICAL ANALYSIS IS ON POINT!
There would be so many less wars if leaders had to stand on the front lines!
I would disagree with that. History proves otherwise. You just get different people getting put or elected as leaders. Just because a few nations don’t have leaders that will fight, others will. When you only think of superpowers of today, yeah. But when things are a certain way for so long, something will happen to force a change
All wars are bankers wars
Or if rich kids had to serve too and couldn't use excuses like heal spurs....no, those guys have to live so they can become fascist presidents.
Facts
All of our great leaders were either Vets. Or stood WITH our soldiers who were deployed.
To me when they say "everyboydy's going to the party have a real good time, dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine" The party=War.. and they're kinda pointing out the nonchalant attitude toward war and going to war.. I could be way off, but that's what it means to me. :)
Dancing in the desert = Iraq. This came out during that time.
"Everybody going to the party have a real good time...." refers to the troops deployed to the gulf wars/desert. You nailed it. Blind Patriotism
More! More SOAD! Please!? Toxicity, Question!, Sugar, Spiders, Aerials just to name a few! Love your channel!

SOAD's TRANSITIONS in their music 🎶🥁🎸🎶 is just AWESOME and UNREAL!!! 👍🤔🤨😳🤯🔥😎
Great song, if you haven't reacted to Prison Song you definitely should, Soldier Side is one of my favorite songs by SOAD. I don't think it's ever been on the radio, but it's a really good song also dealing with the horrors of war.
And "dreaming"also great

Have you done "Sugar" by them yet?
the "party" represents the war - this song was their reaction to the Iraq war.
You absolutely nailed this whole song!! Cheers bro!!
One of the greatest songs of all time in my opinion! System Of A Down is like no other
The band Clutch. Check ‘em out.
Excellent reaction as always!!
one reason i love metal and metal subgenres. they talk about stuff no other genre will
Barbarisms by Barbra (bush) with pointed heels, victorious Victoria (Nuland) seals a brand new spanking deal…
Thank god you reacted to the uncensored version. 👍
The tablecloth is a metaphor for your home and how we turn the tv on and basically invite politicians into our house only to have them lie to us

@@TrueMetalGaming for real they cancelled thousands of elderly medicaid to send money to a losing war

The best part of my day is here
Great song love the singer great music sounds great 👍
Showing love for BYOB reaction
Found the channel for Metallica, stayed around for this though! Been a minute since I heard this. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND lots of old metallica. I got other bands but slow and steady my friend. Enjoy the ride!
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sun shine 😎
I assumed by "dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine" he was referring to the Trinity test site where the first nuclear bomb was tested.
Love your energy!
What happened to your shirt?😀
Iam not going to the desert to watch the sunshine get blowen up!
REALLY Nice hair Bruh!
I always knew it as Bring Your Own Beer...but I met someone who grew up very religious and to her it stood for Bring Your Own Bible. That was a new one to me!!
when it says blowing up sunshine i think of project trinity. nuclear project. we basically harnessed power of the sun
BYOB also means bring your own Booze/Bear/bottle that’s where the party come ins
Yup. This stuff got me wondering... what is wrong with humanity that we decided we need to be ruled rather than love as a singular species.
if you're looking for a good example of the knowledge and message that SOAD puts out there. "Prison song" is poignant and powerful. It also f***ing slaps!

The lead singer Is trained in classical Opera. He might be the most unique lead singer of any band..... Except maybe Queen.
Once upon a time many of our Presidents where war veterans. Going into Iraq was regarded as “a party for the US”. That’s where the line comes from.
You should listen to Rage Against the Machine, killing in the name or bulls on parade. It'll blow your mind, between the guitar and the lyrics
Prison song is dope. You gotta give that a listen.
I think the Lalala is the sound of all the happy people skipping into the desert (going to the party) to fight and blow shit up.
People act like they know what he meant, the implications are implied but everything is open to interpretation
The worm has turned for you my friend. There's a party in iraq. Everyone welcome. BYOB and we'll have a good time. I promise. The mushroom cloud will block out the sunshine.
Japan can tell ya what it's like to blow up the sunshine.
I'm interested to see your reaction to Where Owls Know My Name by Rivers of Nihil.
This great band music is all about against the establishment.
But mainly it’s against the establishment of Arminian (That’s where they’re from original) and the Russian on how they sir press the population of that country.
He's mocking the government for going to war, but also mocking the common people who mindlessly support war.
I think he's talking about military contractors having a good time making tons of money off of the war.
Woah!
For a similar theme, listen to “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
🤘🤘🤘
He's talking about the war in Iraq specifically but it applies all the time.

AERIALS!
❤
Serj, mocking stuff?
Never!
🙄
💚
It’s about us rushing Iraq after being lied to about some oil, that whole war was based on some bullshit lies we were told 🤦♀️
Bring Your Own Bombs
😎👍
This sounds like a big rave party song
This is anti Iraqi war song, no other hidden meaning, however it is often explained as an overall anti-authoritarian song.
Blast off time? I think it's blast off time!!
Dude....beard envy...? C'mon, you're better than that. Lol
Why don't the Presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?
Cela parle des milliers de morts innocents dans la guerre en Irak !
Listen, I’m about to be real political right now and I’m sorry, but this song obviously came out back in the day one of my favorite bands of all time but I’m gonna say this it was like a premonition for the Biden administration which screwed up our country, but that’s OK. Papa Trump is back.
Anti NATO song.
This song is fucking fire
That's what makes George Washington the best president of all time, He fought for I think 8 years. Literally hands-on for this country.❤
Please do Awakening by Unleash the Archers! Hands down one of the most powerful songs you'll ever hear!
