- Dune: Part Two is a 2024 American epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jon Spaihts. The sequel to Dune (2021), it is the second film in Villeneuve's adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert, and it follows Paul Atreides as he unites with the Fremen people of the desert planet Arrakis to wage war against House Harkonnen. Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem reprise their roles from the first film, with Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux joining the ensemble cast.

I was worried it would be overhyped for me, because I didn’t love the first part. This movie blew me away on every level! It is a spectacle of effects, it is was enthralling with its story and characters, and developed this world even more. A masterclass in sci-fi filmmaking. I was floored. It also flew by for me as well, it was paced to near perfection. Great review, Carter! Congratulations on 400 subs 🎉

This was a great one for me. I recently rewatched the 1st dune and got more out of it. It definitely takes its time. This 2nd one has more action for sure
yeah, i had a hard time rewatching the first one. really loved this one though! i am excited to rewatch it
So my take on the dune movies is this. Fortunately i read the books long before the movies do i fully understood what was going on but when i saw the first movie with my wife, visually ahe was super impressed...but she had no idea what was going on. I had to basically explain EVERYTHING to her. I feel like watchers unfamiliar with the book would be lost like my wife (granted some was a language thing as english os her second language and sometimes she gets a bit confused or lost). This was IMO why the first movie was while successful it didnt get raving reviews when people saw it. People thought ot looked impressive but i saw alot of people saying it was boring and confusing. Tge second movie which is the second half of the book didnt need much explaining, it was pretty straightforward, and it was in all honesty a visual masterpiece. I see some book lover hate on it because they want a 1 for 1 adaptation but this is a small minority, most book lovers understand why the liberties were taken, why the cuts were made and why theu changed some key parts of the story. All in all i found the totality of dune just a chefs kiss and cannot wait for Messiah, genuinely intruiged by what they will do with the chani paul arc considering its completely different than the book. This could possibly spark a re visioned dune messiah and could be taken further into a new dune franchise. I really hope we at least get up to children of dune

THANK YOU! Dune 1 was a big letdown watching it a month ago after hearing all the hype. Yeah it looks and sounds good but that didn't do it for me, but I haven't met anyone else that shares the same opinion
yeah it’s definitely an unpopular opinion. luckily Dune 2 is much better!

Man you've gotta edit out your pronunciation mistakes because it makes you sound like you don't care... When you say it's not the best ever, people will think that you just intentionally didn't care enough to remember Chani or the Bene Gesserit which are pretty easy to pronounce and are in the movie a ton of times. It almost sounds like you watched other people's reviews or read a script from someone else otherwise you'd know how to pronounce it. C'mon now
sorry i didn’t remember a pronunciation of something I’d never heard before lol. sometimes i forget a bunch of stuff, like character names or pronunciations. what’s important to me is that i remember the story, character traits and paths, cinematography, score, etc. which i definitely did. i don’t script my reviews and didn’t watch other peoples reviews. i just film off the cuff. i appreciate the feedback, but i’m not extremely concerned about mispronouncing a fictional characters name.

i didn’t really like the first movie, and i thought this one was better on every single level. a lot more interesting story this time around
@carterwalker I think because the first one is kinda a setup with the climax as the Harkonnen ambush.
