Took this as my first crocheting project, took me about 2 weeks since i failed 3 times and had to restart but i got there and i love it. Gonna have to make at least 20 more now for the entire family!!
I finally finished it!! I'm brand new to crocheting and i had a lot of issues (not with your instructions, with different things on my end) but finally after the sixth try I got it and its gorgeous!! I'm so glad i found your videos. You explain so well and funny thing is, because you're the person I'm learning from, I'm picking up UK terms even though I'm American 😂
I have just completed this! I've made it for my step daughters upcoming birthday. This is officially my first crochet project ever! Thank you so much for your video. I have made so many practice crochet squares , its so nice to actually make something, finally! 🎉
i just learned how to crochet from your beginner videos and this was my first project. It took me several hours but i'm just glad i did it! i cannot believe i did it
My first project too! It’s got a few holes, but I’m quite proud of myself 😅 Have taken up crochet to honour my lovely friend who was amazing at crochet ❤ thanks so much, a great tutorial 🤗
I only decided to learn how to crochet yesterday; my first project was a granny square, and this was the second…I’m so pleased with it and it turned out perfect…I’m wearing it right now. It took me about 3-4 hours, as I’ve literally just learned how to crochet, but towards the end I was getting quicker! This is a great project for beginners, as it is quite repetitive, and you end up with a useful piece which looks shop bought! Thank you so much☺️
You might find it helpful to take a look at my beginners crochet series, which goes through the basics: ua-cam.com/video/GcOzdAzmtNM/v-deo.html Episode Four demonstrates how to use the stitch used in this pattern 😊
I would recommend measuring your starting chain against the head of the person you’re making it for 😊 You can work the pattern in any multiple; just make sure you work your first stitch into the second chain from the hook.
This is a lovely tutorial! I'm very new to crochet and this was my first project! I'm so happy with how its turned out! Thank you for your clear instructions!
Love the videos, however... It came out more childrens sized then i thought 😅 did i crochet too tightly or use the wrong yarn? Or do i just count how big i want it myself instead of 87 as stated in the videos?
Hi, thank you so much for this. As a beginner, self taught by UA-cam videos like this, I made this lovely headband and it looks so great. (Took a while longer than an hour though 🥴) Love your videos and the way you explain things 🥰
made this today and it turned out so cute!! i did 7 rows instead because i wanted it to be thinner and it turned out perfectly 💕 thank you!! this is the first project i've made which i'm truly proud of
Hello, This might be a silly question 😅 I finished row one and I have the right amount of stitches. When I lay the loop around my head where the headband will sit in the end, there's some centimetres missing for it to close (even while stretching it). I suppose it is better for me to start over with a chain of for example 90, in order for it to fit? Can I measure with the chain around my head to be sure to get the sizing right?
Hi, an absolute beginner here from Australia 😂. Was wondering what is the weight yarn (ie ply) and the size of the crochet hook please - I am still a bit confused about this - thanks 😊
I made it absolutely perfect on my first try but i was trying to cut the puffed parts of the yarn and accidently cut into the head band 🕳️🏃(literally felt like jumping into a hole and cry my eyeballs out-) Tried fixing it but couldnt and ended up ripping the whole thing apart cus of anger issues 🤐i feel so guilty and bad cus it was the first time i was successful at something big other than the stitches and tiny flowers, but its on me so i am making it the second time! Definitely not giving up on this one. Hopefully it turns out better than the before one :)
It’s really simple to make this in difference sizes; you’ll just need to measure your starting chain around the circumference of the person you’re making it for 😊
Lol yes I noticed when I finished the starting chain hihi. I just messed up somewhere with this one because I count 83 stitches instead of 85. Desperately waiting for my markers to rock up. I only started crocheting 3 days ago, got several project going bit when it comes to double crochet stitches and this one i tend to go pyramid shaped 😢 however the Tunisian Entrelac blanket is going quite well haha
Is there any specific yarn you prefer for this project?(: I’m on row 5 and am using acrylic yarn with a 5 mm hook. Great tutorial by the way! I’m obsessed with your videos. One of the only channels I can actually understand!❤️
It will depend on your hook size and personal tension, so it’s difficult to give a precise number. I would work a small sample piece instead that you can then measure and use to calculate how many to chain 😊
This is a very beautiful tutorial. Thank you for your tutorial video. I have also put good tutorials on making crochet earrings, crochet bracelets and crochet necklaces on my channel. Those who are interested can use it. ❤🙏
Notes for me- Chain 87- foundation Row 1- hdc in the back bumps Chain 2 turn ur work Row 2-11 hdc Fasten off leaving a long tail Make the headband fold Thanks for the great tutorial!!
This was my first crochet project it took me 2 days to make it .and i really enjoyed the process🎉🎉thank you so much!!❤❤ I made the headband so big even with the same measurements as yours ..i dont know how 😂😂 it doesn't even fit me
thankyou so much for this video! i'm a complete novice to crochet -this will be my first project! however my first chain looks like a spring, its very twisty and i don't know how to keep it straight like you have - any advise from anyone at all please? :)
You’re welcome 😊 If you hold the chain between your thumb and middle finger as you yarn over and pull through, you can pull gently to keep it in place and stop it twisting. You will need to adjust your hold as the chain gets longer.
Hi! Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm current making it now but I've realised that the band is not wide enough for my head. Is there any way to lengthen it or should I start over?
My rows are twisting slightly as I am crocheting, will they straighten out and should the headband still work? :) loving the video - thanks so much Sarah for everything you do!
Thank you so much! It’s normal for crochet to curl into a spiral with the first few rows; once you’ve worked more you’ll find that it straightens out 😊
I made this using style craft dk did 87 stitches using a 4mm hook but it’s not very big. Is this supposed to be adult sized because mine def doesn’t look as big as yours!!
You should find when finished that the circumference of the headband is around 51cm to fit an adult 😊 If yours is very different from this I would adjust your hook size or work more stitches.
i don't know if i am just silly and tired but you don't mention the size you're making, or how much yarn you used? i guess i will notice but i was just wondering if i had missed this information.
I'm really struggling to find the back bump and I keep accidentally going into the top of the stitch. This keeps halving the number of stitches I have on each row resulting in a very odd triangle not a headband ... So I guess don't do that 😂 will keep trying though as this is the only channel I can remotely follow
Oh my goodness I've missed you I haven't gotten notices I'm subscribed I'm going to refresh my notifications and see if that works well gotta go having a procedure done but at least I get a nap have a good day 😊
@bellacococrochet I can do a chain, and I can do a basic stitch. I have only done a couple of sample patches so far. I'm having a crochet lesson tonight, a few of us from work are getting together so I'm looking forward to that. It's either this or a granny square I'm going to do as my first project. I've watched your tutorial on the beginners granny square about 10 times in preparation for having a go.
✨ please note: i was obviously struggling with simple maths this day 😅 you either want to chain 87 to get 86 stitches, or chain 86 to get the 85sts✨
Thank you bella! I am going to try crochet this for some gifts ss!
9:39
What does sts mean
Sts means stitches
What length should it be when finished please
Love this. Is this for adult or teen or ??? How would you suggest adjusting size for different heads?
Just make more chains… you only need sets of ONE.
Took this as my first crocheting project, took me about 2 weeks since i failed 3 times and had to restart but i got there and i love it. Gonna have to make at least 20 more now for the entire family!!
Well done :)
60 minutes?! Haha. I'm a slow crocheter apparently 😂. Its been about 4 so far.
Pretty cool but definitly took more than an hour haha
My new hyperfixation project. I don’t enjoy counting too much. I crochet to keep my hands busy while watching tv. Easy project that looks lovely
YAY!! I was literally searching all of your videos for a headband last night and was soo disappointed when I didn’t find one!
Glad its of help :)
my daughter made this it turnt out very beautiful thanks for this beautiful tutorial

You are very welcome, I'm sure she will love it :)
I cant for the life of me keep my chain size consistent, too tight or too loose with one perfect stitch placed in between. T^T
Working your chains in a consistent size is something that will get easier with practise :-) In the meantime, have you tried adjusting your hook size?
@@bellacococrochet I sized up twice to practice and I think it helped :)
i just learned how to crochet from your beginner videos and this was my first project. It took me several hours but i'm just glad i did it! i cannot believe i did it
Well done :)
I'm excited to try this! I'm new to crochet and only a few projects in. How many would you recommend chaining for a child size?
My first project too! It’s got a few holes, but I’m quite proud of myself 😅 Have taken up crochet to honour my lovely friend who was amazing at crochet ❤ thanks so much, a great tutorial 🤗

Love this seems really easy. I would love to try making some of these. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome :)
I just finished this! The yarn I used (Red Heart super saver in blacklight) worked up looking like Lego bricks! 😂
I only decided to learn how to crochet yesterday; my first project was a granny square, and this was the second…I’m so pleased with it and it turned out perfect…I’m wearing it right now. That's is amazing! Is it for babies or young children. How old they can use it please.
Would love to make things like this but I can’t crochet 🧶 for my life
My second loop is not looping the right way and I am ready to set it on fire please help
You might find it helpful to take a look at my beginners crochet series, which goes through the basics: ua-cam.com/video/GcOzdAzmtNM/v-deo.html Episode Four demonstrates how to use the stitch used in this pattern 😊
If I want to modify it for a baby/child, would I halve the amounts of everything? 43 starting chain and 5 or 6 rows?
I would recommend measuring your starting chain against the head of the person you’re making it for 😊 You can work the pattern in any multiple; just make sure you work your first stitch into the second chain from the hook.
Why can’t there be a written pattern? I don’t want to watch the video.
You can use this link to get the written pattern - bella-coco-crochet.myflodesk.com/gt93zxink4 :)

Well done and you should be proud of yourself :)
This is great, thank you. Would love some adaptations for children please.
Cabin fewer to start. You can measure the starting chain around the child’s head.
Great idea to hide my hair that is thinning at the front, thanks to menopause. 😊
You're welcome :)
Hello,
This might be a silly question 😅

I suppose it is better for me to start over with a chain of for example 90, in order for it to fit? Can I measure with the chain around my head to be sure to get the sizing right?
Nevermind, I found my answer scrolling through other comments 😁
If you start with a chain of 87 and only skip one chain at the beginning, you should actually have 86 stitches in each row!
Yes that’s correct! Sorry! Starting chain is 86 to get 85 stitches x
3:10 is where i got lost and gave up .. 😢
Hi, an absolute beginner here from Australia 😂. Was wondering what is the weight yarn (ie ply) and the size of the crochet hook please - I am still a bit confused about this - thanks 😊
I used a DK yarn with a 4mm hook :)
DK = 8 ply for those of us in Australia. Hook size the same (4)
Does this headband fit most adult heads? Or do you change stitch count based on sizing?
This will fit a medium sized adult head, 21/22 inches circumference, but you can easily adjust the size by chaining more or less 😊
If I am making this left handed do I still work into the back of the stitch or should I work into the front please?
You should still work into the back, you will just work from left to right instead of right to left 🥰
I made it absolutely perfect on my first try but i was trying to cut the puffed parts of the yarn and accidently cut into the head band 🕳️🏃(literally felt like jumping into a hole and cry my eyeballs out-)

i made one but it turned out small😂
I wanna make this for my 8m old daughter. How many stitches do I need to do for infant size headband please?
It’s really simple to make this in difference sizes; you’ll just need to measure your starting chain around the circumference of the person you’re making it for 😊
Lol yes I noticed when I finished the starting chain hihi. I just messed up somewhere with this one because I count 83 stitches instead of 85. Desperately waiting for my markers to rock up. Thank you so much! :-) DK weight acrylic yarn is perfect for this project as it's lovely and warm and is available in lots of colours.
If I want to use a 4 weight, how many should I chain?
It will depend on your hook size and personal tension, so it’s difficult to give a precise number. I would work a small sample piece instead that you can then measure and use to calculate how many to chain 😊
Is it one size fits all? I hope so, I'm trying it today.❤
It's actually tough
Couldn't find as to what size you are doing in the vidwo
This is a very beautiful tutorial. Thank you for your tutorial video. I have also put good tutorials on making crochet earrings, crochet bracelets and crochet necklaces on my channel. Those who are interested can use it. ❤🙏
You are welcome 😊
would this work with just UK double crochet?
You could work this pattern with double crochet stitches but it would look quite different and may not have as much stretch 😊
I‘m new to crocheting and I’m taking this as my very first project, will come back here to drop the outcome🌝.
Can I do with a 3.5 mm hook ? What will change? ❤
It will work up slightly smaller and stiffer 😊
Notes for me-
Chain 87- foundation
Row 1- hdc in the back bumps
Chain 2 turn ur work
Row 2-11 hdc
Fasten off leaving a long tail
Make the headband fold
Thanks for the great tutorial!!
I ss this thank you sm 💓 ❤
Chain 87
Row 1 Half Double Crochet
2 Chains at end of each row
Rows 2-11 Half Double Crochet
Then the folding and stitching.
Did I get that right?
Yes, that sounds right to me 🥰
This was my first crochet project it took me 2 days to make it .and i really enjoyed the process🎉🎉thank you so much!!❤❤
I made the headband so big even with the same measurements as yours ..i dont know how 😂😂 it doesn't even fit me
You are welcome 😊
for the 3-11 rows, do we first chain 2?
Yes, you'll chain two at the beginning of each row :-)
I think mines is longer and I’m halfway to 87….
is it dk weight and 4mm hook
You can easily adjust the size of this by working more or less chains to begin with :-)
thankyou so much for this video! i'm a complete novice to crochet -this will be my first project! however my first chain looks like a spring, its very twisty and i don't know how to keep it straight like you have - any advise from anyone at all please? :)
You’re welcome 😊 If you hold the chain between your thumb and middle finger as you yarn over and pull through, you can pull gently to keep it in place and stop it twisting. You will need to adjust your hold as the chain gets longer.
Great project! I do feel like 85 stitches did make my headband too big, so I may need to do less next time. But in any event, I will be making more.
Thank you, don't forget that your personal tension may affect the size :)
Hi! Thank you for the great tutorial! I'm current making it now but I've realised that the band is not wide enough for my head. Is there any way to lengthen it or should I start over?
You’re welcome! I’m afraid it will be a case of starting over and adjusting the starting chain 😊

This was a very nice project! I loved making it! Thank you so much!!
You're very welcome :)
I think the number of chain has to be 100 or more, I did exactly 87 and struggled to fit my head in
exactly. To me it would be around 120
i don't know if i am just silly and tired but you don't mention the size you're making, or how much yarn you used? i guess i will notice but i was just wondering if i had missed this information.
All the information can be found in the description underneath the video :)
Great headband thank you!❤
what's the purpose of going into the back bump? can this pattern be made by going into the top of the stitch?
It's working into the back bump that creates the lovely ribbed effect :-)
@@bellacococrochet Ohh thank you for the reply! I'll give it a go hehe.
I'm really struggling to find the back bump and I keep accidentally going into the top of the stitch. Can I use acrylic aran yarn ?
You can use aran weight yarn but it will work up bigger, so you will need to work less chains in the beginning 😊
Ive made this, I love it but it's way too big for my head unfortunately😢
Oh no, you could try going down a hook size :)
Is there a link to writteb pattern anywhere x
Thank you, such a straightforward video for a beginner. I'm really pleased with the results ☺️

hii, what stitch is this?
Thank you for the clear instructions. It was fun crocheting the headband and the final result was so pretty 😊
You’re welcome 😊
If I used chunky yarn and a 6mm, how many would I need to chain when I started?
You can measure the starting chain around your head. It needs to fit firmly but not tight.
It really worked , Thank you so much, you're an icon❤.Much Love from Morocco 🇲🇦
You're welcome :)
Can I measure around my head after making the base chain? Or the number you used will fit for all the head 😜?
The number I’ve used will fit a head circumference of 21 to 22 inches; if this is too big or small you can adjust the starting chain 😊
@@bellacococrochet Okay, thanks 😊
Thank you for sharing ❤️
You are welcome :)
This will take me a few days probably, but ill give it a go!
Let me know how you get on :)
@bellacococrochet I can do a chain, and I can do a basic stitch. I have only done a couple of sample patches so far. Can I do with 4.5 needle??
The headband will work up a bit bigger with a 4.5mm hook 😊
My headband has turned out brilliantly and can’t wait to start using it so thank you so so much!
