Oh! This is awesome!! It occurs to me this is a PERFECT way to make simple cords for festival bags-and I don’t think it will stretch! It just so happens I have a stack of festival bags that need straps, so I’m going to play with this. Also, it would be a perfect way to start out anything like tank tops, where you end up with edges where you started with a chain-it’s basically going to make an I-cord edge to launch from rather than a basic chain, and will give edges a professional finish from the beginning rather than having to go back and add something at the end. Brilliant!!
Thank you for this tutorial. This gives me a better beginning that will be easier than trying to get even single crochets along the beginning chain. However, can you please show the ease of beginning the second row? Thank you for sharing your knowledge with those who appreciate you for sharing your expertise. 🙌🏾
I suppose you could use a spare length of yarn, maybe from the other end of the ball. I know it might be fiddly for the first stitch or two but then you could make it as long as you like. I’m mostly definitely going to practice this. It will make a great beginning for several different projects.
Here's how knitters determine how much yarn we need for a long tail cast on, which should apply to this foundation stitch technique. Wrap your yarn around the shank of your needle 10 times. Then unravel and measure. That's the amount of yarn you need to create 10 stitches. Then you just need to do the math to determine the length you need for the amount of stitches your project calls for. Measure that out from the end, plus about 6 inches (15 cm) - or however much you usually allow. That's where you put your slip knot Or...you can crochet 10 chain stitches, mark the end, then unravel to measure and do the math to get the necessary length.
The cast on you say is wrong, isn’t wrong, people have preferences. No right or wrong, just a different way. So please don’t tell bethose just learning, that they are wrong. Crochet is confusing enough.

Thank you for showing..I always struggled with the foundation chain so I just kept making it with ch. But this way to make a foundation is pretty easy.❤
This chain is a lot cleaner looking. But I wish there was a commentary with it instead of music. I don’t learn very well just by reading patterns and to me this video was similar. I dunno, I just do a lot better when there is verbal communication along with the act itself.
The first example is a traditional chain stitch. The second example, where the “tail” of the yarn is used to produce the stitches is not a conventional “chain stitch” at all. It looks more like a “foundation chain,” where one works the foundation row, the chain, and the next row at the same time. It’s a pretty piece of work but I’d never get used to wrapping the yarn the “wrong way” on my hook.
@@chplvr1328 not that hard for *some* people. For instance, I can put make up on in a mirror but to ask me to put curlers in my hair while looking in a mirror is impossible. My brain literally cannot make sense of what I’m seeing vs. what I’m trying to do.

I have used this to make small bag straps! With yarn held double. The video I saw this technique on called it an i-cord. Whatever it’s called it’s extremely useful.
This looks fantastic! To measure the yarn in advance, I'm thinking I'll stitch 10 first, then measure how much that took and do the math from there to get what's needed. Easy! Thank you for this!
Yes, I have seen this before and tried it. It is much nicer indeed. Thank you!
I always like new ways to do things. Thanks for sharing your tip. 👍👍❤️
Thanks
I love it so much ❤ Thank you!
Adorei a ideia. Já apliquei a técnica. Obrigada por ensinar❤
Technique starts about 2:00
It really is a great technique. I use this especially when you need to “cast-on” stitches as it gives a nice solid edge!
Мне очень понравилось, иногда необходимо связать шнурок, вот такой будет просто замечательно. Спасибо большое за урок.
Thank you for showing..I always struggled with the foundation chain so I just kept making it with ch. But this way to make a foundation is pretty easy.❤
Really good idea! Thanks for sharing this tutorial! 😊
Fascinating! I crochet daily and love this technique. Gonna try asap!
Thanks
This chain is a lot cleaner looking. But I wish there was a commentary with it instead of music. I don’t learn very well just by reading patterns and to me this video was similar. I dunno, I just do a lot better when there is verbal communication along with the act itself.
I suggest you slow down the video
The first example is a traditional chain stitch. The second example, where the “tail” of the yarn is used to produce the stitches is not a conventional “chain stitch” at all. It looks more like a “foundation chain,” where one works the foundation row, the chain, and the next row at the same time. It’s a pretty piece of work but I’d never get used to wrapping the yarn the “wrong way” on my hook.
@@LilRoseMadder Not that hard.
@@chplvr1328 not that hard for *some* people. For instance, I can put make up on in a mirror but to ask me to put curlers in my hair while looking in a mirror is impossible. My brain literally cannot make sense of what I’m seeing vs. what I’m trying to do.

About to start a big blanket, going to try this thank you ❤
I can only agree with all the positive statements, thank you very much!
I tried this and it is beautiful. Thank you for this video.❤
Здорово. Еще один прекрасный способ набора петель. Спасибо❤
Что можно связать в продолжении такого набора?
@@Galina-t9u да все что планируете. Можно заменить начало изделия из воздушных петель таким набором🤗
No matter the craft, as you gain experience - it’s ALWAYS a good idea to go back to basics that can improve your craft . THANK YOU 🙏🏼
Thanks
Thanku thanku!!!! Wowwww Godbless you darling person💗💗💗
Interesting. I've always gone the usual route of chain then sc, but I will definitely try this out. Thank you for sharing this technique and for a pleasantly quiet video.😊
Thanks
