Here's the link to the LMNT website with their recipe and information. science.drinklmnt.com/electro...
I use 20 ounces or water in my water bottle. The LMNT wesbite reccommends anywhere from 16-32 ounces. The less water...the more salty it will be.
1/2 teaspoon salt
400 mg Potassium Chloride
1/4 teaspoon Magnesium Malate
Here's some links (Amazon Affiliate) to all the stuff I used in case you want to try making it at home.

My bank account thanks you. Instead of individual portions I'm going to mix it up and into small container and just use a spoon to take out one portion at a time. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. It sure is alot cheaper. Good luck .
I thought of the same thing but after refexion it seems to me that the risk is: not to take an equivalent dose of each element each time.
well if you do that doesnt mean you will get EXACTLY the dose... but I guess doesnt really matter but just to say
just make sure you shake it together each time so its evenly mixed
Company spend the most on the mixing process. Don't wing it.
I mix my electrolytes in the proper ratios in a 1/2 pt. mason jar then just measure out a calculated combined amount in a dipper into whatever drink container I want to use at the moment. Much easier than measuring out individual doses of the individual ingredients for each drink.
Great tip!
No cause i think it fades away after 12 or 24 hours cant recall but I read it...
@@missmarielyne6697can you elaborate on that?

I use 1/4 teaspoon great value NO SALT it's the same potassium as LMNT, 1/2 tsp. Pink salt, 1/2 tsp. Magnesium (not citrate) and I also add creatine 5 grams. like you it's a fraction of the cost! I load them 30 at a time into used zip fiz containers.
Sounds great. I put creatine in my morning protein shake along with some greens powder. Thanks for stopping by.
@hossyskitchen6559 yes, the bad thing about LMNT is you're paying all that money for SALT! 1000 mg. of SALT! I don't think we have a problem getting SALT!
Thanks for sharing
Great idea to reuse the ZipFizz containers! I've been throwing them away but will keep them going forward.
What are zip fiz containers ?

@@hossyskitchen6559I’ve made my own magnesium oil using Epsom salts, maybe that’s an idea for you to research? I tend to add the oil to a good body moisturizer and use on legs before bed. The moisturizer keeps it from getting that dry, itchy feeling that you can get from commercial magnesium oil. Seems to be working and super inexpensive compared to Amazon pricing for mag oil. 😉
This is a SUPER helpful video, many thanks!

You also might want to try Redmond's real salt. It's really good
I will check that out. Thanks for the tip.
It has the lower traceable amount if micro plastics of any salt so it's the best choice for sure
I buy it from the states in the 1kilo pack so it is affordable over time with the post to Australia. It lasts me for ages.
You may want to notice too much sodium / salt is not helpful for potassium absorption. Get good salt with reduced sodium content. In Europe I found sodium reduced salt from Catalanian salt mines in Northern Spain, that naturally has 24 - 40% less soduim and instead contains a lot of kalium. This unprocessed natural salt doesn't require any Lysinhydrochlorid to get rid of bitter taste that other low sodium salts may contain.
How much water are you putting it in?
This was really helpful, thank you very much! Now you've got me curious about more efficient ways to measure and store batches, as well as different flavouring methods.
Thanks for watching. If you come up with anything good for flavorings please let me know. It's that fine line for me balancing cost, convenience and trying not to use stuff that's real bad for you.

LMNT flavored products contain maltodextrin not openly disclosed. It is included in "0ther flavors/ingredients". LMNT is allowed to do this because the government considers it a safe additive. If you are sensitive to maltodextrin, be aware that it is in the LMNT flavored products. You can make your own and know exactly what is in it for less money.

I have been making my electrolyte mix as you do for over a year. I cannot afford LMNT or other brands, but when I can sneak one in (like receiving a gift from a friend), it always feels like it hits me with a punch. Much more powerful, and it feels great. I never understand that! I use NuSalt instead of potassium chloride. PC is the single ingredient in NuSalt, and it only costs about $1.40 for 68 servings.
Thanks for the tips. I'll look at that.
Essential for long fasts...I'm in sa..so great to make my own

Great hack! Myself, I typically just have fresh OJ and milk. They're both loaded with potassium and have a good amount of magnesium, plus the milk has calcium. I also supplement mag taurate, mag threonate, and mag glycinate. Electrolytes are crucial.
Chemically speaking, the calcium found in pasteurized cows milk is a form of calcium we can not uptake. Hence why most old people from the last two generations have osteoporosis but yet drank their weight in milk. The milk industry lies just like the pharmaceutical industry. Research it unbiasedly if you don’t believe me.

Great post! I've been making ours for a couple yrs now, from supplies I bought from Bulk Supplements. Same result you have achieved, very low cost per serving since each ingredient is purchased in one lb to one kilo amts. I also experiment w/various forms of magnesium & potassium, as well as throwing in some zinc and/or lemon powder or other powdered flavor now & then. We've also used the Kroger/MIO water flavors, often finding them for under a dollar at a local discount/overflow grocery place (Peoria Discount Grocery). So many ways to save on these things, for those who'd rather spend that $500 on a new wardrobe or a big pile of beef. =)
Thanks for watching. And yes I'd rather spend that money on a big pile of beef. Ha.
Cut a real lemon in half and squeeze that instead of powder. Powder all too often uses pasteurized lemon juice to dehydrate into powder. Lemon juice is really good for you but pasteurized lemon juice has very little health benefit. Don't mean to be a kill joy. I was buying lemon juice at COSTCO until I found this out and have since simply been buying a bag of lemons at the store. I drink it all day.
@@leefury7 Really glad you mentioned this Lee~ honestly, had not even considered that. You're right, I looked it up~ it's from pasteurized lemon juice. I mean, the brain knows real lemon juice is always better, but I hadn't given it much thought in this instance~ so thanks for that.=)
@@leefury7 *Also, I live in Arizona, so there's really no excuse, since lemons are abundant....if I can find someone who doesn't use pesticides on their trees, that'd be even better.
@@leefury7 Thanks for the tip.
Cool! Didn’t know their recipe-thanks! Do something similar everyday after my coffee: Fresh squeeze juice of one lemon, 2 tablespoons of ACV, pinch of salt (1/4 teaspoon) top the tall glass off with water and take my potassium, magnesium….and Zinc in capsules. Almost as important as my morning coffee! 😉
Nice work. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for providing the ingredients with equivalent measuring spoon amounts. Am going to try this as our diets must exclude sweeteners or artificial flavourings. I think I will skip the magnesium malate since we take magnesium glycinate supplements every day. Look forward to seeing how it all turns out!
Glad to help. Thanks for stopping by.
I use Peak water packets from Dollar General. Theres like 10 water sticks in a box for $1.50. They come in watermelon/strawberry, lemon/lime and berry blue. They have some electrolytes in them so that is just added to the mix.
Thanks for the tip.

Magnesium is definitely good for sleeping. I make a Gatorade-like drink. I use this Morton's Lite Salt, which is blend of sodium chloride and potassium, some lemon and lime juices, and some artificial sweetener. Tastes like old-school lemon lime Gatorade, from back when Gatorade used to have actual electrolytes in it. For the magnesium, I just take a daily supplement. I might give your version a try though.
Thanks for the tips! Yeah magnesium has definitely helped me as well. Thanks for watching.
Sorry to say that the variety of ingredients are low quality, please consider using better products. Morton’s is bleached, and anything artificial is counter-productive.
Good health to you
Just started purchasing LMNT. It taste very good and I started to notice a difference. But the price is high. Thank you for sharing this information. Savings savings 🎉🎉😅

Thank you for this video. Is there an alternative recipe that has a flavoring option?

Correction: Deep mined Himalayan Pink Salt is not "Sea" salt. It's mined in the northern plateau Salt mine in Pakistan, no where near any sea and Himalayan Pink Salt has the HIGHEST amount of trace elements than any known salt on Earth, I'm 70 and have been using it for 10 years now .... best and healthiest salt hands down.
Thanks for the correction. I looked at my bag again. It does not say "sea" anywhere. Thanks for watching.
@@hossyskitchen6559Redmond Salt is what I will use. Thank you.
chill out Johnny, it iwas a small mistake while filming, everyone know it and let it slide.
I believe the Himalayans were under the seas many thousands of years ago when the salts were formed. Same as the Utah hills where the Redmond salt comes from.
@@dianeharrell817 Yes. I saw the funniest thing a while back - a photo of a jar of it with an expiration date on it. Lol. It's been there in the ground for hundreds of millions of years but it's expiring in April?
Thank you. This is a great idea. Could you just mix all the ingredients in bulk and then measure off each individual serve?
You're welcome. I have not done that yet but quite a few people have asked so maybe I'll experiment with making it in bulk. Thanks for watching.
Maybe take into consideration this point. The flavored water additives usually contain sucralose (Splenda). Not only is that ingredient addictive, but it causes cravings, weight gain, obesity, and more.
Last year, I used one with an orange flavoring. I absolutely craved it. One day, I took a drink, and my reaction was like a drug adfict that had just taken an injection. It was like euphoria. At that realization, I threw the bottle awsy. I was not allowing any fake substance to make me feel like that. After a few days, the cravings left.
Be warned.
Thanks for the feedback.
There are liquid flavorings made with stevia
Stevia
Miss information much? Those systematic and observational studies have been proven fake and BS. Too much bias involved. They can literally substitute any test and end with the results you want.
I think it varies by person. I use some artificial sweeteners and I don't get cravings, but yes, others do. I also don't have any sort of euphoric reaction, I just like a little sweetness.
I make mine with 12 ounces filtered water, half teaspoon pink Himalayan salt, half a lime, one and a half tablespoons of olive oil. Mix it up, chug it down. It’s great.
Sounds great. I think I'll try one with fresh lime juice this weekend. I've just been using the water enhancer lately.
olive oil? guessing you're not doing carnivore then lol
I do the same but different workflow, I just measure the powders 1000x and make a pre-mix of the minerals. All I have to do is put a scoop in my drink, ad a squeeze lemon juice and good to go.
Definitley sounds more efficient than measuring my little cups. Thanks for watching.
Gracias! Absolutely love LMNT but I go thru 2 boxes each month (i.e. about $1K/year).
1) And a great way to naturally flavor each drink is to add some sliced fruit. I put about a quarter cup in a 20-onuce sports bottle.
2) If you keep your favorite sliced fruits in Ziploc bags, it's a lot more convenient than doing each one. And depending on how frequently you make drinks, consider keeping the sliced fruit in the fridge/freezer to elongate the freshness.
3) If you're transitioned on a Keto diet make sure you're getting enough Iodine. I lost 82lbs in 2023 but after 4-5 months I had a minor hiccup...I always felt cold. I normally wear t-shirts everywhere but I found myself wearing a thermal as well as a jacket. Turned out that I wasn't getting enough Iodine. After just a few days of taking Iodine supplements, I felt fine. At any rate, most salt products are enriched with iodine...but not Himalayan salt. If you're not getting enough real salt in your diet consider getting Iodine drops to put in your LMNT recipe.
Or eat seaweed snacks if you like them. 3 a week will give natural iodine
Great tips. Thanks for the feedback.
Bravo
Thanks for stopping by.
one tip about the himalayan salt you can just put a tablespoon in some water and leave it over night until the water is clear and use the top clear part of the water a teaspoon to 1 litre of water is enough. But letting it settle you ingest less of the heavy metals that are in Himalayan Salt in my opinion.
Thanks for the idea and thanks for watching.
Great video, thanks!
I think it is important to point out that the quantities you show are for 1 packet (i.e. 1 serving) of equivalent LMNT. This is NOT the recommended total amount of electrolytes a person might require in a day. Many active people choose to consume more than 1 dose per day. Electrolyte requirements can vary substantially based on person size, diet, activity level, and temperature. It is best to sip your electrolytes throughout the day. Chugging it all at once may reduce the amount actually absorbed. Like most supplements, the goal is to consume only the amount of electrolytes that will actually benefit you. You do not want to over consume or under consume.
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes. It's for one packet. Thanks for the feedback.
well if you only rely on this for your electrolytes there is a problem !!! I mean you consume regularely electrolytes without THESE in just regular food and drink !
@@missmarielyne6697yeah, but how hard would it be for an athlete to get that from food alone? Kinda doesn’t make sense tbh… lmao
It was obvious it was equaI to one packet. Does LMNT put aII of that on their packets? Just curious, it's common sense, but stiII was wondering.
