LMNT is a very popular electrolyte mix that claims to improve your focus, energy, and overall well-being.
But does LMNT live up to the hype?
To find out, I drank LMNT every day for 30 days to see how it changed my body (if at all).
In this video, I'll discuss the importance of electrolytes, the best ways to get them, and whether LMNT is worth the price.
Or if there are more budget-friendly options out there for you!
Make sure to subscribe to learn how you can thrive on a plant-based lifestyle!
What are your thoughts about LMNT and other electrolyte mixes? Let us know in the comments!
Its true what they say. There is a Sucker born every minute.
I drink it just because of the carnivore diet. I drink one pack throughout the whole day. stop fearing salt. you have been duped like the rest of the sheep.
I agree with your assessment. I'm an ultra-endurance cyclist. I don't drink LMNT everyday or even every long ride. But if it's hot or I know the route I'm taking is going to be hard, I do use one packet at the start and on a really long or hard ride, a second later in the day if I've been sweating a lot. I've been prone to cramping and muscle spasms and have tried tablets (salt and products like enduralytes) and they don't work for me. You can feel a cramp starting to build and LMNT is the only product I've tried that stops the cramping within 5 to 10 minutes. Chug a bottle and cramping goes away. It's pretty amazing. I'm not sponsored BTW, I just like the product. A word of warning though... if it's not hot or you haven't been sweating a lot, too much LMNT too fast will cause GI issues, at least for me. So I tend to just use one packet unless I feel a cramp coming on.
LMNT shares its raw recipe on their ‘Q +A’ section, so that you can make the right ratio of potassium, mag and sodium at home if you wanted.
I’m disabled and have dreadful spasms, especially during sleep. I had a pack and used it for 27 days.
I ran out and due to the cost… tried some other cheaper versions. They did not work.
After three days of not having any Lmnt, my cramps were so bad…
Did an emergency purchase and I’m finally up and moving
It’s fantastic 😊
My spouse and I really like LMNT. We found that for someone with Crohn's or lots of liquid output (like when one is sick) this is the best way to feel better fast with the possible exception of a saline/mixed infusion.
Also, water down your drink. We use a packet with about 30 oz. Of (yes COLD) water for optimal flavor. And I do love the mango jabanero, but not everyone loves heat. 😅 Your videos are getting better btw! Pacing and editing helps a lot!
The lemon habanero is great to sprinkle on fresh cut 🍎 🍉 fruit like apples, watermelon and mango 🥭 and jicama.
That's a good idea!
Great job! And thanks for sharing such useful and practical information.
Sure thing! So glad you found it helpful 👍🏻
I like them … i was given a few boxes , love waking up to a 20oz of water and a half packet. It spaces my morning out away from coffee being step one. Is the magnesium helpful ? i feel like i have less twitching and potentially even better sleep. But as you mentioned its pretty hard to say its the powder
I use lmnt and I have no problems. I work out very hard and I hike. They don’t make me thirsty at all. Our body needs and deserves more than just a cup or two of water
Thank you for your honesty.
Sure thing! I always try my best to be straightforward and highlight both positives as well as things that others may have issues with, even if they are (or aren't) a big deal to me personally.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review AWESOME
Glad you found it helpful!
Love your Oregon Made shirt! Thanks for this video! Super helpful!
Thanks! That was a great thrift shop find 😂So glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching. I appreciate it!
Thanks for this helpful review! Did it have any effect on blood pressure that you noticed?
Glad you found it helpful! Unfortunately I didn’t get my blood pressure checked during the experiment but it’s something I can look into and share next time I take it for a long stretch!
I think I'll give it a try. It's been a few months are you still using them? What's your overall favorite two flavors? We have a sauna and I'm starting to use it more I can lose 3lbs of water in there and I definitely need this for after the sauna sessions!
I use the raw. I enjoy it in a standard coffee mug with chilled water for extra saltiness.
I only got this product because I’m experimenting with the carnivore diet.
I’m happy so far….
How is your experience with carnivore diet?
@@achuunknown5753 love it
You didn’t address when people are doing slightly prolonged fasting- like 24 to 48 hours, or somewhat longer, up to, say, three to five days. Five days exactly is 120 hours, which I have done. Electrolytes become really important during slightly to moderately prolonged fasts. Thank you!
A lot of brands would break the fast tho. Whether containing calories or sugar to spike sugar levels
I’m a fairly active endurance athlete (running, swimming, biking) and average about 7-10 hours of dedicated workouts per week. I do t drink this daily, but typically have a packet on the days that I run and I feel like I’ve definitely benefited from it.
I like to add a packet to a half gallon of water and sip on it throughout the day, which helps with my overall water intake.
When I am doing my 1/2 acre garden by hand tools or cutting 5 cords of firewood, I do the same. My body hates straight water, makes my mouth dry and thirsty (even if my belly is bloated with water). I also add 1/4 pack to my 2 L of diluted pure fruit juice jug I drink through out the day.
Great video, and very knowledgeable Peter! Thank you. Lol, loved Gabby's face when she tasted it! Hope she doesn't watch this video now and realize you've spend a chunk of the wedding funds! LOL 😂😂
Thanks Eydie! Yes she definitely has the best faces when it comes to trying different things, it never gets old for me 😂

I like the raspberry and chocolate flavors
I personally struggle with drinking water normally and then while looking for something to flavour water I came across electrolyte mixes. Would you suggest the use of such once a day in a very diluted bottle of water just so i can add some relatively sweeter flavour to it. Or any other recommendations considering I just walk for an hour everyday for physical activity along with very light workouts every other day.
My favorite is watermelon, orange and chocolate. I put a little bit of chocolate in my morning coffee.
Nice!
I drink half at a time, the heat of summer is cooling. I'm not sweating I don't need as much. 😊
question: I'm on the carnivous diet. I am eatting only meat with that being said would a full packet a day be ok?
Hi Peter! I feel that I get enough sodium from my daily plant based whole foods meals. For the odd times I do need more salt (summertime here in Fort Worth 😛), I'd rather spend my extra salt requirements on adding some dry roasted and lightly salted peanuts to my salads! I tried electrolyte packets before and they left me feeling more thirsty, as you noted. I drink water 90% of the time every day along with 2 cups of coffee and some sparkling water mixed in 🙂
It sounds like you're definitely on the right track! Do you tend to feel pretty well hydrated throughout the day with this system?
@@theplantbasedteacher I definitely feel hydrated throughout the day - drink often and go to the restroom often ;-)
Vegans always find a way to tell everyone they're vegan
I stopped wasting money on expensive electrolyte powders. Once a day I squeeze two wedges of lemon into a 16 oz glass of water with a pinch of Himalayan pink salt.
Good mix!
I do a few slices of lemon with the peel, a piece of ginger, 1/2 clove of garlic, 1/2 a banana in 16 oz of water in a Vitamix. Don't add any Himalayan pink salt as I think I get enough salt during the day, but its a good idea if you think you need more salt.
Do you know of Sally Norton she is a dietitian bachelorette from Cornell university and Masters degree in Public Health a vegan herself. You should check her out. Good stuff! I only drink LMNT with a large flask of water only way too salty. I just not sure of the stevia and I just finished my sample pack. I really loved Liquid IV full sugar. Not just the taste but how it made me feel. I felt very hydrated. Not so with LMNT. Good luck, thanks for your review!
Thanks for the anecdote. 💪
Thanks for watching! Glad you found it helpful

Correction: it's not "a gram of salt". It's 1,000 mg (1 gram) of SODIUM. I'm sure you know this and just said "salt" when you meant sodium. Our common vernacular annoyingly interchanges these terms, so it's understandable.
To those who don't know: salt is sodium CHLORIDE (NACL). So a gram of salt is not a gram of sodium, it's actually only
On a 2000 calories/day diet. It is recommended to get 2400mg (2.4g) of sodium. That is easily to do with commercial foods.
I have adhd, and EDS and they mean I don’t want to pass out and go to sleep every afternoon for the first time in my entire life.
I bought it yesterday to try. Today after your video I put orange flavour pack in 1litre of cold water, drank just about 3/4 of glass, and in 10 minutes headache is gone! Wow, I didn’t know it will have such effect on me, but it did, and it tastes like a summer drink, not bad at all. Can not say anything else, but this “magic” impressed me, may be I didn’t have enough electrolytes, but I take magnesium every day, good dose, 500mg. Probably something about a balance of them
Great review. For me I get have found I get a better night sleep when I take it.
This is the first video of yours I’ve seen so I don’t know your views on coffee but I put about a 3rd of a packet of the chocolate in my morning 10oz cup of Joe. I’m not an athlete or do any type of strenuous lifting but I happen to be a 50 + woman who perspires walking the dog, cleaning, doing yard-work etc. Also prone to leg cramping. Since I also have routine colonoscopies every 3 -5 years & most other flavors of this brand or others I’ve tried tastes like that dreaded gallon jug of solution I need to drink in prep for those, I find them intolerable. A few I can drink when mixed in a 32 oz water bottle filled with ice but never the unflavored. So I pass on consuming them. Thanks for the review.
Wow! Again another great informative video. I’m team plain water but this video definitely cleared up any questions I had. 💫
Thanks so much for watching! So glad it was helpful for you 👍🏻
I only use electrolytes when I'm doing a long backpacking trip where I'm sweating out lots of sodium. For normal days, I don't need the extra electrolytes. With LMNT, I mixed it with a full liter of water to water it down a bit or its just too salty. I'll doctor up one bottle and alternate with a bottle of regular water while hydrating on trail.
coconut water and celery juice are good also
I want to buy the raw one because zero carbs is there realy a difference?
LOL Mango chili is my favorite because it does not taste sweet to me. The fruit ones are too sweet for me :)
Great video
I mix 1/4 tsp. of Redmond's Real Salt, which is 530mg of sodium, plus 1/4 tsp. of NoSalt sodium free salt, which gives 690mg of potassium, in water, and drink wth two magnesium glycinate capsules, which gives 175mg of magnesium. May adjust this in future.
306 grams of Redmans Real Salt , 41 Grams of Potassium Chloride, 36 Grams of Magnesium Citrate makes 100 1 tsp Servings for a fraction of LMNT
My 🦵 legs are so incredibly swollen from having two packs the other day. I drank one gallon of water that day.
That's from low potassium.
I started with the 20 buck pak with samples LMNT and decided to order the big box and I clearly stated No subscription but today I got another box and I still have 3/4 of the first box. At 135 bucks a box I cannot afford more of the LMNT paks. CAREFUL FOLKS!
How many times a day should I drink a electrolyte drink?
Better to dilute some high mineral content salt in water and drink that. Pink Himalayan & Celtics sea salt are said to have 82+ minerals. That's what we need.
The mango tastes like a mangonada with a tamarind straw. Good stuff!
Ypu should put those in 32 oz water. Not a glass....js
I also use half packet
I’m trying to find something that doesn’t have a ton of sodium because I have kidney disease I get severely dehydrated all the time. And the myth about water is a myth. I drank nothing but water for years and I mean a considerable amount daily. Doctors still say you are severely dehydrated. So I need something that will hydrate me but with the least amount of sodium possible. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I stay thirsty all day long and night. So I keep water on my night stand. I do not have a fluid restriction, and I’m not on dialysis. I have one kidney that is on a by pass. So I need to keep my electrolytes up. Can’t have a lot of bananas. But anything else I can. No chocolate, no caffeine. I’ve done plant based before but again I have to be careful with the sodium. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing! So take this with a grain of salt (pun intended...gotta practice dad jokes for future kids). If you're eating a well-balanced diet there's a good chance you're getting the sodium you need through that. In addition to sodium, spinach, pumpkin seeds, cashews, and most beans are good sources of magnesium, which can round out your electrolyte profile.
One other thing to consider is the sugar mix. Hydration isn't just sodium, it's also glucose. So adding a small amount of maple syrup with a tall glass of water could potentially help, hypothetically.
Hope you find this useful!
Drinking Chia seeds in water will keep you hydrated for longer too. :-)
I love the habanero !!
I like a good electrolyte mix that’s clean. I occasionally do water fasts, and they come in handy then.
But I am a vegan who probably gets enough sodium, though I try to be low to no sodium now more than ever!
For sure, and I'd definitely recommend this over something like Gatorade which is mostly sugar!
It might help to give the homemade mix I mention at the end a try. Could help with the water fasts potentially while keeping the sodium lower.
If you don't mind me asking (and it's okay not to answer, lol) what are your goals with the occasional water fasts?
Thanks for watching!
sodium is not as bad as you think. you die without it.
Low sodium is a death wish.
I don't drink mine... I just eat it when I feel like I need a pick me up. I was never a big flavored water fan.
result at 7 minutes
Overpriced minerals. Just put a little Himalayan pink/sea salt, squeeze some lemon juice, and a tsp or two of honey. That's it.
Your glass is probably too small. It looks like a pint. LMNT recommends a cup or bottle that is 3-4 cups at first. Once you get used to it some people move down to a pint glass.
Thanks for the tip! I definitely got used to it, especially the fruit flavors. And chilling it made it taste much better as well! Have you had a chance to try it yet?
@@theplantbasedteacher yes, I like the product in general. Not crazy about the hot pepper flavors. I prefer putting the chocolate salt in a protein smoothie or in hot water so it tastes more like hot cocoa. My favorite flavor is citrus salt.
@@dianadeejarvis7074 Same with the pepper flavors, those were tough for me lol.
That sounds like a great idea for the chocolate, unfortunately I just had the one pack so didn't get to try that. But I'm glad it's working for you!
Thanks so much for watching!
Way too small, i use 30 ounce Stanley
The hype has been so confusing - like with Liquid IV, the sugar content is so much higher than anything I would willingly consume but seemingly legit people were pushing it. With LMNT, I've heard Dr. B (the vegan gut doctor) say electrolyte mixes are also too much salt. Now I have a good idea if I ever do get these. A few years ago I liked the RealSalt electrolytes (not remembering the branding) which gave me energy and came in a tub. I like the reduced packaging of that option.
I totally understand the confusion! Nutrition science is so complicated that any time a new study comes out there's always some product ready to use it to justify their end goals, and that makes it that much harder. Thankfully, that's where a nutrition coach comes in handy, as they (and I) can help you navigate the facts, fictions, and nuances of the nutrition world.
I'm glad you found this helpful and feel free to reach out with any questions!
I mix mine with 32oz of water 🤤
I’ve tried Nuun electrolytes. Hoping they might help with leg cramps.
I have a friend who runs marathons and loves Nuun!
try Magnesium. that should solve your issue
Leave plant-based. Go carnivore. Then you'd want to have electrolytes to find your optimal self.
tbh the high amount of sodium compared to the other 2 confuses me. DRA sodium is 2300mg and potassium is 3400mg(though I do accept that you need more, especially on certain diets and/or if you exercise a lot). So you need less sodium, *and* it's easier to get(much, much easier), and they give you 1000mg. You need *more* potassium, *and* it's harder to get, but they only give you 200mg? As the kids say, the math ain't mathing.
It still tastes good, tho. I don't mind the saltiness at all, and the watermelon and citrus flavors are superb. Orange and raspberry were also nice. Some of the flavors were weird - mango chili tasted like spicy grapefruit, and the actual grapefruit flavor didn't taste like much of anything at all(generic "fruit" flavor that wasn't even recognizably citrus).
Mango habanero is the best
Thats why too strong!!! I use a packet with about 32 oz or more of water!
Great idea!
I dont think you mentioned anything about the magnesium in the drink? Nor the elephant in the room issue of salt/blood pressure put forth by American Heart Association (reduce salt intake by a tsp every day), which this product poo poo's.
This is for Keto, less than 20g of carbs a day. You don’t need it if you’re high carb. You should know that if you are a nutrition coach, Carbohydrates retains your salt unlike if you’re Keto(super low carbs) this review is biased.
I make two bottles from the one stIck.
That's a much better idea than what I did!
you need to mix with at least 30 or more once's.
If you are on Keto or Fasting... you need them...
This video is purely anecdotal. If you can't produce lab results, then your subjective experience is exactly that, subjective and non-scientific.
its not 1 gram of salt, its 1 gram of sodium which is more potent
1g of salt? Wow.
This electrolyte drink is way too expensive for me. I make my own drink for approx. 10 cents a serving. This one has to much sodium and not enough potassium for me!
Totally fair! I really like the mix I mention at the end with the 1/16th tsp salt and 1tsp of maple syrup. That gives similar effects for way cheaper.
Why would you put it in such a small glass of water??? Salt, potassium and magnesium work WITH water. You need far more water. No wonder your urine was yellow and you felt thirsty.
That packet is way too much for a half liter bottle of water...tastes terrible. Half a packet per bottle tastes way better. Just drink two bottles over time.
Yep when I take it now I use about 1/3 a packet to spread it out!
Everyone needs 4700 mg of Potassium PER DAY; about 350-400 mg of Magnesium PER DAY; depending on if you are Male or Female? That’s basic requirements
Per day or PER DAY?
PER DAY
Per day. I agree.
You need to realize that foods contain levels of those minerals naturally.
Sodium is great for blood pressure lol
Lmnt gives me a headach...😢
How if anything thing helps headaches
I diluted my drink
Bought some... meh. The lime flavor works well as margarita rimmer.... But I got nothing, no noticeable change.
Save your money. Any product that comes in one-serving packets is a gimmick, and is horribly wasteful.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I do agree with the waste aspect as well, important to note.
You can get your eiectrolights from plants....You lost me too..
You lost me when you said plant based. I’m into complete nutrition
You lost all your credibility at "plant based"🤣
Why is that?
Agreed
That makes no sense, my dude

Everybody knows that's a huge compliment. 😂@@ookeybookey7955
No thanks, I'll save my $ and keep my sodium level low as Dr Goldhamer recommends

First time buying I wanted to try LMNT to see what the fuss is about since this product is very pricey I got the bundle 4 boxes
a better deal but to my surprise
I got only 3 boxes . to me it looks like false advertising
and costumer service is nonexistent send an email and
No response.
