      You and caffeen, would y'all please tell me how it's going for you. I really like the ideals behind this diet, but I quit losing and am gaining. I think it has to do with my diabetes, but being older (almost 58), I really would like to know if this will eventually work for me. I've heard tell that it can just be the body working things out first and just to be patient. I certainly hope so!

    • @leahrowe847
      @leahrowe847 3 місяці тому +5

      @Jennifr1966
      Sometimes, if you've dieted in the past, the body will go through a period of testing you to see if & how long you'll stick it out on this one. It may be a month or 2 or even several months depending upon your specific body, but during that time a lot will usually be happening on a cellular level (even if you don't see anything)... healing, body size changing/morphing (maybe), & other stuff. I'd say as long as you're feeling good, stick with it & beat your body. I know that might not sound encouraging but, it's pretty accurate.
      I learned this from my doctor several years ago when I got stuck & was highly discouraged, she encouraged me to start measuring every surface of my body to see if I noted any changes at all during that time. For me, I wasn't losing #s, but my body was basically redefining itself, firming up my skin, & redistributing weight around in better ways, so a lot of work was being done.
      Then, several months after the stall boom, I lost 10#, & I was back on my journey again.
      IDK if this happens to everyone, but it must happen often, otherwise doctors wouldn't know to tell you about it & encourage you to stick it out!
      Hope you're doing well...

    I haven't looked through the comments and maybe someone has already written it, but why don't you just multiply the grams of each ingredient by 100 and weigh them on the scale at once to have 100 daily doses. It will be times more accurate, faster and easier instead of playing with those approximate 1/2, 1/16, 1/32 spoons and cups.
    Salt - 2.8 x 100 = 280g
    Potassium chloride - 0.4 x 100 = 40g
    Magnesium malate - 0.3 x 100 = 30g

    • @joydavis9264
      @joydavis9264 2 місяці тому +8

      @@neahsway I think what he's saying is, it would have probably been easier AND more accurate to multiply the grams by so many servings, measure them all out that way in your video in the bigger amounts to tell people how to make a batch, then after you mixed it up good since you'd already know the total weight and how many servings that made, you could weigh out a serving and see how big a spoon it is or whatever and say, "So after you've mixed up these amounts, you can scoop out..." this much in teaspoons or tablespoons or whatever, and that's one serving. Your measurements are going to be waaaay more accurate if you multiply WEIGHT first on your scale, which DOES measure grams for your audience, to find out how many bigger scoops or whatever per batch (and divide the batch later by servings) than trying to multiply such tiny and inaccurate measurements as "pretty much exactly 1/16th of a tsp" and "a pretty heaping 1/16th of a tsp". The weights multiplied FIRST just would've helped you make your jar more accurate, and then you could've given your audience how much of each to make so many servings and this is how big a serving to scoop out.

    One suggestion, because I go through 32oz of this stuff every day, is a trick I've learned in making my little factory. Using a 32oz Nalgene bottle I would mix 2 servings (1 teaspoon per 32oz) of the electrolyte powder in the absolute "hottest" water I could run from my tap, which allowed the salts to dissolve into a saturated solution, at which point I would vigorously agitate before storing in the fridge over night to chill...
    And another suggestion... try to keep it refrigerated and use within a week... I once left a Nalgene full of this stuff in my hiking pack bottle holster at room temp for a week. When I examined what was in the bottle, I saw some sort of transparent cellulose type filaments floating around, I shook the bottle and they were still there, so I did not drink it, for I had no idea what was going on in that bottle and it looked alien...

      @@DL-oq6nqI would say also, to look up a basic pickle brine recipe and make it, using the better ingredients such as OG ACV, coconut sugar or evap. natural cane sugar or honey ( all pickle recipes I know of call for some sugar), and Redmond Real salt or Himalayan, sea salt... whatever good one you like. This won't have any leached out minerals from the cucumbers (unless you also buy some and make actual pickles, which anyone can ! ). I can't stand the idea of drinking average store-bought pickle juice myself. It's got food coloring in it, for one thing ( almost always), other junk, and the vinegar used seems to be most always white distilled vinegar which doesn't say "from grain" and so, allegedly, must then be from petroleum production. Sorry to add any more angst to anyone's diet or life, but it's a relatively easy and cheap thing to make oneself, healthier ! The brine, mixed up and boiled til salt etc. is more dissolved, will keep in fridge a long time without canning it. Idk how long, but months I would think.

    For the measuring, just use the scale and multiply the per serving amount by 20... The math and the scale use will be much easier. You can use the spoon for the per serving use.
    I've tended to favor the snake juice ratio and put about 1/4 tsp in a quart/liter of water with a single flavor packet. Fond of the True Citrus options, best to order direct, Amazon inflated pricing.

Genius!!! 😁🥰 I have a 100% mechanical scientific balance scale that is accurate to one tenth of a gram. I'll never need a new kitchen scale again! I’ve been making my own LMNT for 6 months now. I usually make a batch that lasts me a month. I put about a tsp in my coffee in the morning. I love the salty taste it adds to my coffee. If I need more than that per day then I add some to my water. Or I just put some of the mix under my tongue. But my electrolytes are pretty well balanced now and I don’t need to have more than one tsp (which is what is packed in an LMNT individual packet. I also have an old small (lip gloss) container that I keep in my purse in case I need some when I am out and about. In the very beginning of my keto journey I had a very scary electrolyte deficiency that I thought was a stroke. Luckily, I remembered reading a warning about this possibility and I put Himalayan salt under my tongue and the problem was resolved.

    Gidday Neah first time watching, nice and thorough video. Been looking for a simple homemade electrolyte recipe like LMNT I can spoon into my water rather than making a whole drink. LMNT in Australia is about AU$2.50, US$1.65. I like the savings, making it in bulk and experimenting with the amounts also. I live in Queensland, very hot and humid and work outside and drink at least 4Litres of water a day, 1US gallon, so I may need a couple servings a day. Thank you for doing the hard work happy I found your channel….

    Thank you so much for sharing in your experiments and experiences in this. Ties into preparedness perfectly!
    My pne thought with this is about the magnesium and potassium content in the pink Himalayan salt (or any other salt sources wit the minerals in them). Seems it would be acceptable limits in combination with the others.
    And dont forget to balance your water intake with using it. You can get to a state of dehydration from to many electrolytic sources and/or too much water.
    Balance in everything! Blessings!

I use salt with my meals so I am still getting the proper amt of salt. Since I don't do sweaty workouts I don't see the need for so much salt. I really listen to my body for what I need. Thank you for the great video and detailed description of how you worked out the quantities.
    Use caution. I was doing the same thing only using tiny spoons to dip each one out per serving. I also added taurine to mine at about 2 grams as well as creatine at 3 grams. The taurine and potassium are in identical packages and one day I mistook the potassium for the taurine and gave my self a 2 gram dose of potassium. My kidneys did not like that and it took me about 3 weeks to get over it.
    Mixing it like you did, all in one batch, would prevent something like that from happening. Great idea and I will be doing that today. Thanks again.

    • @trail.blazer
      @trail.blazer 4 місяці тому +3

      I do similar mixing, but I use completely different pots for everything, each with their own size measuring spoon inside.
      There are actually stories of batch mixing going wrong; you do it on one day then consume it over subsequent days, with no idea what you previously did. If batch mixing did go wrong, you are going to extend the amount of time you consume that bad batch.
      Then you need to consider if the mixed powders really did mix, and also consider that mixed powders of different densities will over time separate; the larger granules will rise to the top of the powder, so you need to thoroughly shake each time used.
      Personally, I think batch mixing is more risky, and I will stick with using individual pots/spoons.

    @neahsway Thank you for this. You have saved me a ton of money and I really appreciate it. To anyone wanting to add flavor, and if you have a source for doTerra essential citrus oils, you can use them for flavor and they will not impact your insulin response. Plus, they are good for you in many other ways. I would NOT use other brands internally though as they are not Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade.

    I like LMNT because it is an easy way to add electrolytes when you're changing your diet away from processed foods which already contain so much of these minerals.
    The video where I learned about LMNT offered a discount on their sampler pack, but I didn't want any of the added flavors so I just got a box of their unflavored packets.
    As it is, I only use it if I wake up with my legs cramping or something like that, which happened occasionally as I transitioned to Carnivore.
    I still have a lot of my original order, so I don't see the need to make my own yet, but it's nice to know that I can.
    Thank you very much!
