My 07 tundra hit 330k still runs like brand new. Now l think it’s time for a 2020, it’ll last me a lifetime.
That’s a great story! Thanks for sharing!
@@JSS 647pm r⁴⅘⁴r⁴⁴⁴4th
The good thing is there isn’t any learning curve since the new 2020 models are almost identical to yours :/
I had an 04 Tundra. I put it to work quite a bit and I live in a salty area so sadly the frame eventually went, but the engine ran fine at 378’000 kms. Great, tough, long lasting trucks.
How gas.?😂 tundra if you daily use.just like you spend another finance truck 😂
Tundra ...reliability and resale value are of importance
Absolutely! It’s a workhorse.
I have 2017 tundra TRD PRO and my brother in law just bought 2017 Lariat with that the turbo engine. My tundra v8 couldn't keep up with that ford and he also could tow heavier than my truck. I like my tundra but after test driving the 150,, my truck seem very outdated. I might have a change of heart. Thx for the video
Ford takes the w for me the inside and outside of the tundra is horrible
Dee Dee same bro i bought ford 2.7
you are correct!!! toyota speaks high volumes of resale!! they dont discount because people know what they got
My 07 Tundra with 250 k miles was starting to show its age. I’m pretty tough on my vehicle. Couldn’t wait for the redesign so I’m in the market for a new truck. Looked at other brands they all looked appealing except 1 thing. Reliability. Both independent mechanics in my town have Tundras. Both say they are built far better than the domestics. And I’d like to drive another 10 years or more with little issues “hopefully” so I bought another Tundra (2020) today. IMO If you want long term reliability I think the only real opinion is a Tundra.
It has great reliability. A true workhorse. Congratulations on your new truck!
Hey man, congrats on the new truck. Im thinking about trading in my Tacoma. Since I tow a travel trailer. Did you get any kind of deal given the COVID situation? How’s the real life mpg?
I been looking around and I don’t see a lot of 2020 in stock, I wonder if there are more coming
Cash Miller my dealership had a few but I wanted one of the SX models (no chrome) in white and the found one for me. Retailed at 43k bought it for just under 37 after discount and cash back. Really like it so far. I’ve gotten as good as 19-20 mpg 55-65 “easy” driving. Interstate the other day 65-75 windy and running ac the whole time just over 17 mpg. (Pump to pump on all these mpg tests) If you get into the throttle you’ll be around that 15 in a hurry. Pulled my boat 3-4000 lbs got right at 15. Pulled it very confidently.
Inventory is still fairly low on the high end models. Toyota has shifted production to the more volume models and Tacoma trying to keep up. I believe the 2021s are in production right now, so may have to wait for one of them.
@@cashmiller2999 my 2020 tundra 5.7 in town is about 15 to 16 2wd trd tow pkg
Reliability and resale value..TUNDRA 💯
All trucks have a pretty high resale right now. What I like about the Tundra is it doesn’t start at a high price to get the popular equipment.
@@JSS yeah but you are behind with power and fuel economy
@@1FiftyOverland nope!!!! you make all that up by NOT being in the shop!!!
I pick the truck that will reach a million miles. Tundra it is.
Lol they all dont reach a million miles 😆
@@1FiftyOverland True but not one F-150 will reach a million.
@@highplainsdrifter9849 that is not true
@@1FiftyOverland i have never seen one advertised. Please show me one F-150. with a million.
@@highplainsdrifter9849 That's because Ford doesnt need to give people a false sense of reliability like Toyota. Do your own research there have been Ford and Chevys with 1 million miles
One of my favorite features is the adjustable lighting. Most people don't mention this feature but its definitely a great feature. Theyve had this since 2007, Nissat titam also has this, amd surprisingly the big 3 still don't offer this feature. Love the full roll down rear glass as well.
They really focus on the details of what truck drivers need.
To get the same features on the F-150 as my 2020 Tundra limited I would have to spend over 8,000 more. I do have blind spot mirrors as well as key less entry and lock. plus premium audio, spray on bed liner, LED headlights and tail lights, and all the other features you mentioned that are not standard on the F-150.
Tundra!!!!!! Gimmeeeee
Still f150 lariat 3.5L 502A is the best for me!!!
Tundra wins every time. Reliability,Reliability.👍
You make up for that reliability by spending wayyy more money on horrible gas mileage with the tundra. Thousands more per year add up alot!
@@msalazar89 on no whatever will you do for the extra 2mpg f150 gives you
Have had my f150 for 10 years now. no issues. both are reliable lol
I preferred the tundra
Tundra for sure
Me too
EVEN if the tacoma can drive more miles, i will Still go for tundra cause its full size.
It is very comfortable!
So the D150 is not?
Sorry F150
F150s are great but I suck at doing maintenance so Tundra it is. 2010 Tundra at 200k and everything is still flawless. People are constantly offering to buy it when I'm at the gas stations.
I would like to buy it also 😂. Tundras are great!
Tundra!!!
Tundra.
Definitely!
Tundra it seems like slightly better value then the F-150 (in this video) and it should last not to mention the resale value
Resale is crazy!
Fords, Chevys, GMC are prettier than the tundra's and more fancier for sure and i hate that toyota cant make the tundra close to fancy as them. But the reliability of the tundras cant be beat!
Maybe 2022 Tundra will be a stunner
The F150
Seems like a lot of the options you pay extra for are standard in the Tundra. I drove an F-150 for a decade with no major issues. I lived it and used it HARD. With that said, after watching this video, I may start looking at Tundras as well.
F-150s have a lot of options. You can actually get a lot more in the F-150, but have to add for it. Tundra has limited packages/options to add. They are both great options.
Turning radius and rear window roll down is what tipped me to the tundra
Yes! The Tundra is so easy to turnaround, and I’ve always loved the vertical power rear window.
@@JSS They took care of the turning radius with the new one...awful
Tundra is much more reliable and better resale value. So many people in my city drive Tundra. I see them every single day
That’s awesome!
Tundra last 4 ever,better hold.value
Yes they last a long time.
When I get 20 miles to the gallon and pay $10,000 less for my Ford, I don't think resale value makes that much sense. My trucks are tools I use them I don't resell them! Ford do pretty well on resale value as well not as good as the Toyota though!
Gas better be cheap, when picking the Tundra 😂
Yep, they don’t get the best fuel economy.
Hope that warranty and engine last you.
CEO of “also” great comparison in depth good job 👍
Thank you
tundra for reliability , ford for a better ride and more features
Agreed
Personal choice Tundra Limited
Toyota does an excellent job at understanding what half ton pickup drivers need and what we dont need. A lot more F150's will sell, only if they copy/paste the feature set that tundra has....it is the excess of unnecessary features which is the biggest let down for ford.
I think they have 7 trim levels, plus numerous packages. A lot of features, but it gets confusing.
this guys is good at what he does!
Thank you
People say Ford is better at towing but they have the nearly the same c frame, tundras will be better because it's more flexible. Fords is too stiff
I agree.
That doesn’t make any sense at all. The Ford can tow just as much or more. it comes down to gearing and engine options. The frame is not a c channel in the f150 but a fully boxed. The tundra has the triple tech, which is boxed in the front, reinforced c in the middle and open c in the rear. Both trucks will be more then adequate for towing 7000 lbs easily, but that 10 speed makes the f150s job a bit easier at the task, and much easier unloaded at the pump. 3-4mpg difference on average.
My gripes with Toyota Tundra:
- Why is it so cheap and old looking on the inside? It literally looks like I can go on my 3D printer and print these cheap plastic parts. Looks like it came from the early 2000s.
- Who styled the grill, looks weird.
- Toyota, a company that is known for tech has the shittiest cameras ever lol.
- I'm sure they could slightly improve gas mileage on the V8 without changing much.
I don't know if I should just pick up a slightly used V8 F150 or wait for the Tundra redesign.
Redesign is coming...and without a V8. So they went drastic to improve fuel economy.
@@JSS when is redesign coming?
I love my ford f150 lariat! This comparison here is not fair. Limited toyota tundra and not limited ford f150.
From what I was informed, if you go with a full-size truck with gasoline engine. Tundra is the better quality engine. Now if it’s DIESEL engine than pretty much go with Ford, Chevy, GMC and Dodge.
Yes, tundra hasn’t jumped into diesel in the states.
@@JSS I just picked up a TRD Sport two weeks ago.
Both have there + and - but are really kool looking trucks ... I've had several Blue ovals but with the new prices I would have to go with a Tundra ... mainly cause by the time it gets to my price point it'll still be half decent with less recalls lol
That’s true.
F-150 price depreciates very fast. So you can buy a nice used F-150 with $20,000
Depends on year, but they usually have large discounts which lead to heavy depreciation.
Weird how it doesn’t have abed liner. Every Toyota dealership I’ve visited had bed liners as standard.
I always ordered mine with bedliners from the distributor, but not everyone does.
Tundras don’t come from the factory with a spray in bed liner. They are done at the ports after they arrive.
I read the 2020 Tundras are having transmission cooling issues and do not have an independent transmission cooler even with a tow package.
I haven’t heard of the transmission problems, and all tow packages include transmission coolers. So I’m not sure of the problems you’ve heard about, but it’s the same transmission they’ve used since the 5.7L came out in 2007.
@@JSS after 2018 toyota took off the transmission cooler for some crazy reason. Maybe that Aisin was lasting too long lol
Also read they removed the external trams cooler, I would probably just put one back on, some people are seeing 240+ fluid temps
Omitted trans cooler, yes. Trans problems, NO.
Hahah out tows the tundra when the “right engine is selected“ pfftttttt please! No way a small boosted v6 would out preform a large v8. Tundra all day.
I’m a Tundra fan also. I’m simply referring to the official towing ratings.
@@JSS love the review! yes I gathered that your only reporting facts, I was saying that f150 tow ratings are inflated to make them sound like the best. Sure they put down the horsepower and torque like a v8, but for how long? Three, four maybe five summers? Please compare the f150 to a civic cause the motors are almost the same size lol
Stay safe! 😷
Yeah..unless the TURBO GOES OUT!!. lawsuits alone with the reliability of the turbos are garbage.
No half ton comes close to the 3.5 eb but I think tundra is the way to go
The f150 with the 2.7l ecoboost all day hands down.
That has excellent fuel economy, and good power.
@@JSS and how long you think that turbo is going to.last you. Hope you trade in your truck every 4 years
@@aronjohn84 I've had a 2.7 since 2015 with 240k miles with no issue. The ecoboost engines were designed to handle the power
F150
It’s sharp!
Toyota it is 👍🏾
I am looking to buy a pickup 🛻. Can anyone give any comparison between these trucks related to engine and transmission and other parts reliability and durability. I know Tundra is a little more expensive. Is that because it last longer? How does Chevy Silverado compare to these models.
One is reliable and the other one not so much
Agree
None of them were reliable in my experience especially the Tundra
I like the tundra but Toyota need a lot of updating starting with that horrible outdated drivetrain and their horrible safety ratings. I'm sure if they could get way better gas mileage they would outsell everyone because of their reliability and with the high cost of gasoline and fuel economy of the f-150 it's no wonder why the tundra is still in last place. And on top of that they've had that same underpowered 5.7 for years it's time for a change Toyota
People just parrot each other I swear
Tundra is bigger?
Depends on what dimensions you’re referring to. I think the latest Ford body has improved passenger room dramatically.
Toyota Tundra
One advantage to the ford is there's a lot More used f150's for sale so you can usually find one that's configured how you want. Also I like the front bench seat and there aren't many tundras with the split bench. Another thing is that 5.5 foot bed is too short for me and you can't get the 6.5 foot bed on a tundra crew max. You can get a crew cab ford with the 6.5' bed. There's just more options with the F-150. I just wish it was as reliable as the tundra.
I like them both they're both dependable and practical
Yes they are.
Nissan frontier and toyota tundra are the best.
Where does Tacoma fit in? 😁
Toyota tacoma is better too
Have had a couple Tundra's.. with problem after problem.
Never buying a Toyota again, going back to F150 or Silverado
I’m sorry to hear that. It’s uncommon depending on year. Ford and Chevy have some really nice trucks available now.
Why buy a second Tundra if you’ve had so many problems? If true your definitely in a minority. And on average you won’t find better reliability out of a ford or Chevy 1/2 ton truck.
@@kross1261 I bought a second Tundra because I thought all the problems I had with the first one were just a fluke...
But I was wrong, it wasn't a fluke. Don't buy in to the "Tundra is the most reliable truck on the planet" bs.
I did- and got burned. Twice.
M Jones sorry to hear your bad luck but I bought a tundra in 07 put 250k miles on it. Only had to replace the starter. Still the same plugs even. Just bought a 2020 about 2 weeks ago dealership sells GM and Toyota and they told me that week alone they had 2 tundras in for regular maintenance one with 500k miles the other with over 600k. Both independent mechanics in my town drive Tundras both say they’re far more reliable than the domestics. They have over 50 years experience between them. Consumer reports will tell you the same thing. But I can understand your frustration and buying something else.
At least the resale will be good. Get rid of them and get most of your investment back
Thats a base model lariat or somthing. I got a lariat, I got every option available except air ride, massaging seats, and electric floor boards lol
Ford turbos are crap!! If dodge get the hemi Tick finally fixed id pick ram. Yes Toyota's v8 ..not good in mpg. Old school numbers.. put a 8 speed and fuel management. You'd kill it Toyota!! That Tundra though, it will out last the crap Ford engine any day of the week!! They both have plus and negative marks. You needs all that jazz stuff get a Ford. Reliable vehicle..well im at the point thats what I want.
What are your thoughts on Toyota’s new twin turbo 6 cyl?
@@JSS don't think anything. Until its proven then sorry. You build a engine that is ment to have a turbo. And I mean really have one built to handle the pressure.... fine. But you put extra stress on cylinders when this is done which break down is more prevalent. Especially when you want it to have the power and longevity that a v8 holds. v8's they are more reliable then what turbos are doing. So...answering your question...I don't care for turbos. Turbo goes out...well thats just adds to the bill and another thing that can go wrong. V8 FMS 8 speed trans. If Toyota does this well..might have to go back and reconsider the Honda ridgeline that's not turbo. The ram TRX is super charged. Not turboed. The chevys still have the v8 also. This is also why ford is going back to v8 in the Raptor. As far as the TRX and it was not built to save gas. Lol...it was built to wow. If they are going to do that...turbo. then they need to have another engine option. Guess do what you will. But most guys that I know want a reliable V8 or and V6 not turboed.
Why not compare an F150 Limited too then? Cuz it makes a Toyota look like crap. Yeah Toyota is proven but its still an import so fuck that shit. F150 for the win! I drive a Lariat myself and wouldn't drive anything else
The F-150 Limited is really in a class by itself. The Tundra Platinum can’t compare. Of course the price difference is substantial also.
The mighty TUNDRA ALL DAY
Mighty F150 it is keyboard warrior
I'll take an aluminum truck over a steel truck 100% in Canada. I love Toyota trucks but I swear it looks like they were trying to win first prize in a ugly competition with the tundra.. They won
I think that I will choose the Ford F-150 Lariat 3.5 eco boost.
That would be my choice.
As impressive as Ford makes their numbers, start adding "options" & 4WD, and Cab configurations, those numbers drop dramatically. If proven to last long without major POWERTRAIN/DRIVETRAIN repairs, the F150 would be a winner.
It's like comparing impact drivers. One might be better spec, but it probably doesn't last long. I rather buy the one that last longer to be worth my money.
Interior comparison is an OPINION. What works for one person may not another. I hate MULTIPLE buttons on the dash. Simple important yet efficient buttons are better in my opinion. Less clutter please.
Thank you for sharing.
