Get what you like. I just ordered a Champion replacement for my '68 Ford F-100. Came overnight! Beautifully made, lifetime warranty. Included trans fittings. I'm sold.
I bought an alloy works radiator and it was garbage. The fans didn't last 30 days and it started to leak after 60 days and eventually leaked two gallons in 3 days. I replaced this junk with a champion and have had no problems since. And i did contact alloy works and got no reply. I should have went with the Champion radiator in the first place.
I believe it’s all a marketing scam. I’ve seen few people say the same thing, and I just ordered one so we will see. All reviews only post of the install and a quick run if you’re lucky. Is there anything I should keep in mind if I have to return it?
support@alloyworksplus.com here. The email I use to talk with them. Mine works fine so far 🤷🏻 my body codi has one on a boosted coyote no issues yet. It sends me that everything is made in China now. It’s now which piece of crap is less crappy.
The chinese aluminum radiators tend to fail (leak) at the tube to endplate interface. Any comparison needs to have a long term durability test examining the tube to plate interface. I would expect all chinese radiators to initially work, its just that they leak after a certain number of heat cycles under pressure. How much heat, how much pressure, how many cycles, that is the difference between quality and junk.
Had one of their rads in my car and maybe drove the car 50 times since the install and it's already leaking from where the tubes are welded/brazed to the tanks. Contacted them and the best they would do is 8% discount on another radiator. So I just bought a radiator from summit racing under summits brand. If alloyworks stood behind their products they would have done better than an 8% discount.
Well I installed a Champion about two years ago in my 92 Z28 and now it leaks so I bought a Alloyworks last week and tried to install it today and found out the transmission lines won't thread in the radiator because they threaded the hole fitting in metric not standard so now i got to send it back and hope to get a refund. So i don't think much of Champion or Alloyworks.
@@fastfreddie54 Yeah I thought about that but finding a brass fitting that go's metric to standard around here is not easy and I shouldn't have to do that when Alloyworks says it will fit my car. But I got lucky Alloyworks refunded my money and I call Champion and they were nice enough to give me another radiator for free.
@@m1a1hm I'm dealing with a similar situation right now! Bought two new radiators for a '97 F350 Powerstroke that I'm resto-modding and couldn't use either one due to Trans cooling lines too small, and NOT as pictured in the sales brochures. I actually found you by doing research on the AlloyWorks radiators and what you're telling me is valuable info, it says a lot for Champion. In the process of tossing the vacuum brake booster and converting to Hydroboost is where I had my first troubles similar to what you described, SAE vs Metric, and the local hydraulic place had everything imaginable. However, I do share your luck in one manner! The ebay (A-Premium) radiator arrived with a broken drain valve (plastic thumb-screw) handle (no biggie) and the Summit Racing has fixed hose barbs that can't be changed, up-sized, or up-graded. Both places refunded me in full, including shipping, and Summit paid the return shipping as well. On the eBay one they just told me to keep it! I can live with that!
@@m1a1hm One more thing, you're 100% right on brass fittings not easy to find in metric! Most of what I found was Stainless steel , which is actually better as it doesn't 'clash' with aluminum, brass does! Use a good thread compound if you do it!
Nope don't buy one. I did. I was super disappointed. The core itself was way undersized. Measurements on there website looked good. But the core was way way thinner then oem. I was like that's y it's not been doing the job. I toom it out and installed new oem. Oem cooled way better. So im done with this brand. Watch out. Idk if they lied on purpose about the thickness of the core or what. Oem which is stock is 2 3/16 thick. Alloy was 1 9/16 thick. I was like holy hell. These measurements are for my application. The big difference between they two is the warranty I believe. Champion is lifetime and Alloy is 1 year.

Oh nooo, I heard nothing but good things besides, they say the fans are not that powerful

Thank you very much for the REVIEW!!! Thank you for your support of Alloyworks! We will keep working to make better products!
Do you make one for a 1960 f100?
Looking forward to trying out the Alloy Works radiator on my 1968 bronco.
usually One can tell if something is china made by the color of the carboard box its in.

Yep 👍🏼 had my buddy Codi who turbo charged his Jen to coyote tryout that exact radiator actually. So far, I’ve heard good things.
But your logic is sound, sadly everything is made in China now it’s up to what’s the best of the Chinese crap
Just ordered an alloyworks for my 91 4Runner
Good review - I ended up shelling out for one of the AW units because Champion doesn't even make one for my application. We'll see how it works!

Did you return it?
I'm about due for a new radiator or having mine rebuilt. This was great to run across.
I remember when champion was the “off brand” 😂 I say run it!
Thanks Craig
🙏
Just curious if you installed this yet and if there's an video in the near future?
Yep, What would I like to know?
Great vid! Wouldve been nice to hear the fans...
I’d go alloy works, if the metal is protected. Don’t want corrosion
Nice. I’ll try out Alloy

That is an issue but not too uncommon for aftermarket radiators. It's actually set up for hydraulic hose connection and they make adaptors.
Any good Brass fitting or Hydraulic fitting store should be able to hook you up.

Should’ve shown what dimensions they were but good video still!
I’d take both lol
Alloy works is JUNK.
