One of my favorite things about Metal Gear is how they manage to break the fourth wall multiple times and still manage to keep the atmosphere of the game.
Iamlyre, you can find the ratsnake directly after the end fight. Brfore you go in the tunnel with the ladder put down some mousetraps in the bushes. Then go into the tunnel, then go back. You should have captured snake, if not, try again. For the three white snakes, fight the boss and go to the rocks and trees to see, if solid snake, solidious snake and liquid snake are there
Has anyone else ever realised that the Metal Gear Solid series has basically been more about Ocelot's story than anyone else, and it's all just done from someone else's point of view?
I have thought the same thing myself friend. But I don't see how he plays so much into MSF/FOX etc. Otherwise it does seem that way. We'll see a lot more of him in TPP.
The Joker Ocelot secures the other part of the legacy after the San Heironymo takeover, and planned to break his ties with Zero, until Zero told him that they'd secured the data from the Perfect Soldier project. Ocelot then decides to join him in the Patriots, and start les Enfants Terribles. He's there in the background all the way. It's really something. I can't wait to see him and his role in TPP, although I think this one is definitely more about Big Boss' fall from grace.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Venom changes back to BB by the end, I mean think about it, all the timelines after TPP he is known as BB not Venom. They can't replicate The Boss story but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a full 360 in BB through TPP. From BB to Punished to Venom to BB again.
The Joker well for me big boss is a hero and i dont like solid that much but to be honest i only play'd MGS3, PW and MGS Ground Zero :D I maybe will play MGS 2 soon and who knows mgs 4 too BUT i heard from the internet that mgs4 is the one bad mgs game a lot :O

Stoney Woney yeah you're somewhat alone, no different than when they changed sam fisher's voice. It just seems wrong to get a fanbase so heavilly invested in a character and then going 180 and saying "F*** the fans this is better." All just opinions though.
Hahah the End's death after one entire week of waiting. That was actually pretty sad, I mean... not any boss would wait an entire week of more just to kill you but ends up dying
"The future is looking bright for the franchise" Famous last words. Phantom Pain will be the last MGS game with Kojima. Now with Konami going bat-shit crazy who knows what will happen to MGS? I'm just glad we even get Phantom Pain because there will be no game like that for quite a while guys. Enjoy it!
For me, the return to Shadow Moses was my best memory of Metal Gear Solid 4, everything was just great! The return of "The best is yet to come" song, having Flashbacks and discussion memories, the return of the ghosts when you takes pictures at some place, having to fight Crying Wolf where (or near the place) you fought Sniper Wolf many years before, and this end with a legendary fight between the Metal Gear Rex VS the Metal Gear Ray!! Having the old Metal Gear generation fight the newest Metal Gear was just awesome! The Rex truely deserves his name, it's the real King of the Metal Gears!!

I'll really miss David Hayter as Snake in The Phantom Pain. I love the way Hayter delivers Kojima's goofy off the wall dialogue and I'm unconvinced Kiefer Sutherland will be able to give Snakes goofier side justice. Shit like "Damnit Otacon! Get a grip!" Is HILARIOUS.
I'd slightly understand if Keifer was voicing Solid Snake. But he's not. He's voicing Big Boss. It is possible if another Solid Snake game gets made, Keifer might voice him - but until then i have no idea why the internet went into a hissy. Big Boss wasn't voiced by David Hayter in MGS4 either.
Ya, I can see what you mean. I would bet that that is in fact the reason why Kojima chose a different voice actor for Snake in this game. Hayter did play Big Boss (even if he didn't have the title in the beginning) in MGS3 and Peace Walker though. But even so, if Big Boss is supposed to be shown in a little less of a heroic role in The Phantom Pain, it would make some sense to have a different voice actor. I just really like Hayters both serious and stupidly goofy style. I think his acting fits with the tone of MGS very well. This is all conjecture though. Sutherland could very well hit it out of the park as Big Boss.
Hapy Rview To me it looks like this game will be a lot darker than previous games, less goof. We know that there will still be some funny stuff like the chicken hat, the cardboard box that can fold out to make a guard think an actual woman is in his sights etc but I doubt we will see a lot of goofy stuff. The release date is coming in...5 hours & 55 minutes, hold on tight!
Please understand. Hideo wanted a different voice actor for big boss in MGS3 and peacewalker but couldn't find a suitable substitute, but he really needed someone else now, knowing Big boss is going to meet solid snake in MGS it must have been high priority.
Kojima is truly a genius game designer, he understands that the true difference between a good and a great game lies on the details. Phantom Pain was looking rather empty when I first saw the videos, but now I have more than 100 hours into the game, and it still surprises me everytime I play, even if it's just a different dialog between two soldiers in mother base. That's why I believe Death Stranding will be awesome, also because he is absolutely free to do whatever he wants now that he's out of Konami
Here is how to make the most OP trap in the MGS franchise and It is called the Playmore mine Items Required - x1 Playboy mag - x1 Claymore - Really stupid but genetically superior but perverted guards Once you have all 3 place down a magazine and then take the claymore and face it near the magazine facing the direction the guard will approach it from and wait for his perverted ass to get a ballbearing buckshot in his blueballs. For some strange reason the MGS games wait for the guard to drop down to look at the mag before it will detonate the claymore making for some hilarious moments.
in MGS3 I used the box and the handkerchief, since you can pop in and out with magic I could take down guards without causing an alert. playboy mags were so rare in that game.
littleolman ham well if you had a codebreaker you could get infinite items Was useful in MGS2 where I used A LOT of C4 everywhere since I loved using a strange glitch where if you were good enough you could actually place C4 charges on the backs of guards which not many people figured this out. Either this was an intentional funny joke by Hideo or it was an unintentional bug.
In Peace Walker you can get inside a box of hay and drag enemy soldiers in it so you can beat them up, its something based off of Assassin's Creed's leap of fate where Snake does the same
Jomar Sims2God nope the porn mags and claymores have been available for most of the franchise, not sure about MGS1 as I never played that one but they've been in every game since at least MGS2
Jomar Sims2God oh no that has existed for years since MGS2 also its just slightly harder in later games cuz of the AI being slightly better. I did it a lot using the Stealth gear and just slowly walking behind them.

Yeah besides when you play as big boss in mgs3 it was david hayter's voice they should just keep it the same :( It worked in mgs4 because big boss was like 1293489489 years old but he's young in this so he should have his young voice :)
Returning to Shadow Moses in MGS4 should have been number 1. And where was the final battle against the boss in MGS3? That was very epic. Also fighting along side Snake when playing as Raiden towards the end of MGS2 should have been in this list.
When your in the AI pod of peacewalker and theirs butterflys in it while The Boss is saying Stop Jack or something like that *THAT* was the most memorable moment for me
Im gonna be honest here, ive watched my dad play MGS1-3, then i personally played through the 4th many times. But i still feel great nostalgia everytime i play MGS4, its an awesome experience playing through the game and seeing all the things from the previous ones converge into one huge game. Everything about MGS4 made sense, and just was the perfect way to complete the series.
The elevator fight in MGS1 was my most Memorable moment for me. Especially after i started working at a paper mill and had to ride a elevator similar to the one in the game, if not bigger.
I have played every damn one & I am confused as hell..I knew what was happening when I played them but now I feel like I just watched a friend play some bits here & there. I will be firing up the PS3 & replaying all the MGS games in the lead up to TPP which is going to have a release date in 5 hours & 50 minutes from now =)
William Oliveira Solid Snake's story and mission are complete. But Big Boss has a lot of story to tell, there's like 30 years between the end of Metal Gear Solid 3 and the first Metal Gear (the one that came out for MSX). I think Kojima just tried to fill the gap by telling us why Big Boss became the "bad guy"..
I loved the fight with The End. Also the ladder was a funny touch. Aside from the storystuff, I love some of the easter eggs, like giving Snake the shaver in MGS 2 or the marines dressed up in boxers in the same game. Shoot down enough seagulls and Rose and Colonel will get mad at you. Standing beneath the dude who is pissing from the floor above someplace in MGS 2 making and calling Colone or Snake. There are probably a lot of stuff like this that I haven't fully noticed too, but part of what makes these games so awesome is the attention they've given to details all throughout the series. Nice video :)
Really good list but I would probably switch 1 and 2. Psycho Mantis will forever be the moment that made me fall in love with the series and it still reigns supreme. Also, instead of the ladder scene I might even replace it with the actual intro for Snake Eater. It was just super awesome to see a proper intro with a full blown theme song. Was a nice throwback to James Bond and it got me super pumped for a game I knew was going to just blow me away. It totally did too.
I also think they shouldve replaced the solid vs liquid fight in the original with the fight in 4...I understand the original is where it started but the whole fight sequence in Guns of the Patriots was fucking epic on so many levels! Mad feels during the whole fight...Big Boss vs The Boss shoulda deff. made the list too. Shit even the snake and otacon handshake in Sons of Liberty couldve made the list in my book.

Couldn't have done better myself that last epic Battle between solid and liquid can never forget especially how it goes through all the different life bars through the game series!
I was annoyed that Mantis only claimed number 2 spot here until you revealed number 1... outstanding that the fight in MGS4 actually became slightly emotional, and a mirror image of the first... all through MGS4 you could spot the tributes to the series past, and it was goddamn awesome.
My list: 10 - MGS3 final boss: The environment, Snake Eater theme, fighting old mentor and the fact you can fight three snakes called Solid, Liquid and Solidus is f*cking awesome. 9 - Codec calls: MGS1 had the most emotional and story codecs. MGS2 had the most trollish with calling and pissing off rose. MGS3 had the funniest with Para medic and Eva. 8 - The Cigar/Cigarette: MGS1 and MGS2 it can be used to show laser beems. MGS3 can help travel in darkness. MGS5 can help fast foward time. 7 - Solid Snake's solid snake. He's love for woman. MGS1: Meyrl, MGS2: Olga AND Emma. 6 - JOHNNY ! 5 - 4th wall break in MGS2 Patriot AI as it was the fight MGS i played sadly. 4 - Cardbord boxes ! MGS1: Can be used to create love with dogs. MGS2: Can be transported to different struts. MGS3: Can be used to put out fire when fighting fury. MGS5: Can make old motherbase soilder recognise Big Boss. 3 - Sniper boss battles (my personal favourite is Quiet in MGS5) 2 - MGS4 ending
Ahhh. Good times. Metal Gear Solid has come so far, got crazier & crazier, and I'm still so pumped for the new one. Solid Snake is badass, but omg...Big Boss...I ended up loving him more. I have a gut feeling that David Hayter WILL in fact be in MGS5...as YOUNGER Solid Snake! Kojima is so good at surprising us.

I thought it was nice to get into the Metal Gear franchise and quite worth it. Even though I may at times find it quite difficult to understand what is going on but then again its not that easy to understand Metal Gear's complex story straight up. And I remember I found the controls ass at first but after a little while I got use to it, well at least with MGS2 and MGS3.

Yes! Buy the Legacy edition (you get all of the Canon MGS games for $50) for the PS3, if you don't have one, buy one. MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive and it is the last chapter in the best game series ever (imo and millions of others).
You failed to mention the part where snake crawls through the microwave chamber as hes nearly dead from the accelerated aging disease he has, while the cut scene is going off with everybody dieing and raiden fighting without any arms. god fucking damnit this game was just so well put together, nothing compares. go look up mgs4 microwave chamber

+Pipboys and Lightsabers The Metal Gear fight was okay at best, it was pretty easy to be completely honest. Killing your men was probably the only memorable thing from that game to me. That and finding out that Huey was a nut who forced a ten year old to pilot a walking nuke.
Never before did i think that someone would agree; that otacons most memorable codec moment is in the lift with the soldiers using stealth suits. I always get goosebumps watching the scene; especially when it zooms right up into his face and he gets frantic. Just awesome.
One of the main reasons i like MG is because it doesn't take things too seriously as evident with the cardboard box, mags, and, when phantom pain comes, a plushy puppy.

Yeah besides when you play as big boss in mgs3 it was david hayter's voice they should just keep it the same :( It worked in mgs4 because big boss was like 1293489489 years old but he's young in this so he should have his young voice :)

Returning to Shadow Moses in MGS4 should have been number 1. And where was the final battle against the boss in MGS3? That was very epic. Also fighting along side Snake when playing as Raiden towards the end of MGS2 should have been in this list.

MGS is still by far my favorite games/game series to this date. The shadow moses level on MGS4 was mind blowingly awesome.
Im gonna be honest here, ive watched my dad play MGS1-3, then i personally played through the 4th many times. But i still feel great nostalgia everytime i play MGS4, its an awesome experience playing through the game and seeing all the things from the previous ones converge into one huge game. Everything about MGS4 made sense, and just was the perfect way to complete the series.

The elevator fight in MGS1 was my most Memorable moment for me. Especially after i started working at a paper mill and had to ride a elevator similar to the one in the game, if not bigger.

William Oliveira Solid Snake's story and mission are complete. But Big Boss has a lot of story to tell, there's like 30 years between the end of Metal Gear Solid 3 and the first Metal Gear (the one that came out for MSX). I think Kojima just tried to fill the gap by telling us why Big Boss became the "bad guy"..
I loved the fight with The End. Also the ladder was a funny touch. Aside from the storystuff, I love some of the easter eggs, like giving Snake the shaver in MGS 2 or the marines dressed up in boxers in the same game. Shoot down enough seagulls and Rose and Colonel will get mad at you. Standing beneath the dude who is pissing from the floor above someplace in MGS 2 making and calling Colone or Snake. There are probably a lot of stuff like this that I haven't fully noticed too, but part of what makes these games so awesome is the attention they've given to details all throughout the series. Nice video :)

Really good list but I would probably switch 1 and 2. Psycho Mantis will forever be the moment that made me fall in love with the series and it still reigns supreme. Also, instead of the ladder scene I might even replace it with the actual intro for Snake Eater. It was just super awesome to see a proper intro with a full blown theme song. Was a nice throwback to James Bond and it got me super pumped for a game I knew was going to just blow me away. It totally did too.
I also think they shouldve replaced the solid vs liquid fight in the original with the fight in 4...I understand the original is where it started but the whole fight sequence in Guns of the Patriots was fucking epic on so many levels! Mad feels during the whole fight...Big Boss vs The Boss shoulda deff. made the list too. Shit even the snake and otacon handshake in Sons of Liberty couldve made the list in my book.

I died to the ladder more than any other boss in mgs 3
I was annoyed that Mantis only claimed number 2 spot here until you revealed number 1... outstanding that the fight in MGS4 actually became slightly emotional, and a mirror image of the first... all through MGS4 you could spot the tributes to the series past, and it was goddamn awesome.
Great list! I think my personal favorite was the return to Shadow Moses in Metal Gear Solid 4. I spent a lot of time exploring the area. So cool!
My list:
10 - MGS3 final boss: The environment, Snake Eater theme, fighting old mentor and the fact you can fight three snakes called Solid, Liquid and Solidus is f*cking awesome.
9 - Codec calls: MGS1 had the most emotional and story codecs. MGS2 had the most trollish with calling and pissing off rose. MGS3 had the funniest with Para medic and Eva.
8 - The Cigar/Cigarette: MGS1 and MGS2 it can be used to show laser beems. MGS3 can help travel in darkness. MGS5 can help fast foward time.
7 - Solid Snake's solid snake. He's love for woman. MGS1: Meyrl, MGS2: Olga AND Emma.
6 - JOHNNY !
5 - 4th wall break in MGS2 Patriot AI as it was the fight MGS i played sadly.
4 - Cardbord boxes ! MGS1: Can be used to create love with dogs. MGS2: Can be transported to different struts. MGS3: Can be used to put out fire when fighting fury. MGS5: Can make old motherbase soilder recognise Big Boss.
3 - Sniper boss battles (my personal favourite is Quiet in MGS5)

I thought it was nice to get into the Metal Gear franchise and quite worth it. Even though I may at times find it quite difficult to understand what is going on but then again its not that easy to understand Metal Gear's complex story straight up. And I remember I found the controls ass at first but after a little while I got use to it, well at least with MGS2 and MGS3.

You failed to mention the part where snake crawls through the microwave chamber as hes nearly dead from the accelerated aging disease he has, while the cut scene is going off with everybody dieing and raiden fighting without any arms. god fucking damnit this game was just so well put together, nothing compares. go look up mgs4 microwave chamber

Killing your own men, Quiet leaving, Hueys exile, and the prologue mission, I also enjoyed the Metal Gear Boss fight
+Pipboys and Lightsabers The Metal Gear fight was okay at best, it was pretty easy to be completely honest. Killing your men was probably the only memorable thing from that game to me. That and finding out that Huey was a nut who forced a ten year old to pilot a walking nuke.

What I do always remember when playing mgs, is the feeling of playing a game ahead of it's own time.. what a great title!
Never before did i think that someone would agree; that otacons most memorable codec moment is in the lift with the soldiers using stealth suits. I always get goosebumps watching the scene; especially when it zooms right up into his face and he gets frantic. Just awesome.

One of the main reasons i like MG is because it doesn't take things too seriously as evident with the cardboard box, mags, and, when phantom pain comes, a plushy puppy.
