I found an 25th Anniversary SSP for $17k at a Lincoln Mercury dealership that still had the build sheet on the window.
Black, grey interior with the 25th badges. The delivery info was for Troop B of the New York State Police.
It was a 5 speed which I thought was unusual.
I don't know what happened to the car, it wasn't there very long.
Interesting fact~ the USAF used a Mustang LX Notchback and a 350 Camaro as chase cars to assist U2 pilots land on the runway.
As the U2 came in the chase cars had to be doing at least 120mph and follow off the left and right wings about 50 yards behind.
Hello Scotty,
Hope all is well with you and your family!
I have been a long time viewer and truly enjoy watching your videos: educational , funny and informative.
I need your help.
As you can see by the picture provided, my Traction Control (TC) and TPMS lights go on. At times the TPMS blinks (TC is on as well when this happens). I lived in the southern California desert, there are only 2 Mazda dealerships within a 1.5 hr drive from me. Their fees to diagnose these lights is $300+ (makes no sense).
The lights come on at odd times(driving, parked, etc.). I have taken it to a local AutoZone and O'Reilly and they cannot pull the code.
I hope you can provide me with some guidance as to how to fix this intermittent issue. It is the first issue I have ever had with this vehicle, it is truly an unstoppable family car.
Thank you for your time and help!
I appreciate any help you can provide.
Scotty I have a 2017 Nissan rouge consumer reports say it has no bad transmission. Help
Me and my moms 96 “Turd”cel 4 speed manual was very reliable. Though it did rattle your teeth on the interstate.
Hi Scotty my dad is thinking of buying a 2016 BMW 328xi with 29,000 miles for 22,000 Canadian dollars. He's retired so only drives at most 3,000 miles a year. Is this a decent buy or will it still end up being a money pit despite the low mileage it'll get?
$5k 10 years ago was a steal. These things still sell for $5k all day.
American v8 kinda hard to beat it

I bough a 2005 Mustang GT 115K for $5,700.

Not sure about the handling.
The value when new for a late 80s LX 5 liter from the dealer was excellent.
I think I remember them going for between $15-16k stripped with a 5 speed.

Reminds me of my old 01 Mustang. That was a good car. I bought it in 2011 with 200k on it. I got it cheap because it wasnt running at an auction but to my surprise nothing was wrong with it. We changed the battery, flushed the fluids and fiddled with some fuses when we got it home. It was running like a champ by the end of the day. I had it a few years and gave it to my cousin. It has well over 300k and she still has it as a back-up car.
The modular v8s last a long time i got a 2000 crown vic police car ithas 234k miles still runs like a champ.
I love my 01 Mustang! My 2005 sedan deville broke a motor mount, pulled the gas line and caught fire, took a loss, bought my Mustang and never looked back.
I have 2001 Bullitt with 227K and is a lot of fun to drive. But, I find a oil leak I need to fix and hopping is not the end of the car. LOL
I got my first car a 2001 Mustang GT Convertible at 2,500. Well my dad got it as a gift to me.
Can i buy it if you still have it?
I’ve had 4 of those mustangs and each and everyone of them was loyal all the way only put gas and did oil changes and never game me problems
Then you didn't keep them long enough lol
Why did you have 4 of them if that was the case lols.

My first car is a 2000 Mustang. Sold at 185k and still running strong. It has the most user-friendly ways of making modifications. The headlamps, for example, are held down by 2 L shaped brackets which is a brilliant design. Way better than the modern cars which held down by screws. Missing it now.
I have a 2002 GT, I worked in Hollywood at Post Group Studios. I bought it through the motor pool, they handed me a form where I got to select the build I desire. Sonic Blue, 4.6 Automatic (Disabled Veteran ,left shin held together with stainless steel and 30 screws so couldn't deal with a clutch) Ford Motor Sport headers, flow master 40s, every custom feature available). I had to wait a month for it to be assembled. One day I get called to the front office, my car had just been delivered. A pretty girl handed me the keys. My boss got in the passenger seat, told me we are cruising Sunset Blvd.
Still have it, was going to trade it for a new one. Their mechanic pulled me aside and told me to keep it, it was the last year they made the "notch back" and it's a collector classic. I'm constantly challenged by runners!😎
Hate auto correct, that's "tuners"
Yesss headlight modifications literally take two seconds I love it, can switch in red leds if I wanna
The aftermarket headlights I bought for mine were extremely difficult to put the brackets in. I had to like use screwdrivers to pry it forward lol
4.6, same as the Crown Vic so ultra reliable and parts are a dime a dozen!
Ill put that mustang in my crown vics trunk.
I love that engine but the freaking plastic intakes are "great"
Also there's like 4 threads in the head for the spark plug so make sure you torque them right lol

Will find a beefy transmission to handle that power too.
I think is about how you treat the car, because I have a 2010 Mustang GT and it looks like the first day. The headlights and paint aren't even damaged although is 10 years old.
To an extent yes but if you live somewhere very hot or don't have a garage it can still beat on paint and interior panels
Of course taking care of the paint helps but sometimes things just aren't in your favor lol

Mine has 203,000 miles and runs amazingly. The transmission is just starting to give out but I have had zero dash lights pop up. Fortunately my father is a mechanic and we maintain it regularly, so this car has treated me well even though the person before me didn’t treat it will. I appreciate this video Scotty.
$500 a year for a Mustang? Ya, I'd say he got his moneys worth! Great deal for a nice little hot rod!
He could resell it for $1500, so it's $3500/10 years equals $350/yr.

The 2000 V6 i had in high school had 282k when it rusted apart finally. The engine was still running strong though
@Scotty Kilmer, that 385 hp motor was the 5.4, only found in the 2000 Cobra R, and they only produced 300 of those. You made it out to be like it's a regular option you can find when shopping for New Edge Mustangs. The real options were:
'99-'04 GT = 4.6 SOHC 2v v8 (260/300)
'00 Cobra R = 5.4 DOHC 4v v8 (385/385) BUT YOU'LL NEVER SEE ONE
'99/'01 Cobra = 4.6 DOHC v8 4v (320/317)
'03-'04 Cobra = 4.6 DOHC v8 4v supercharged (390/390)
The Mach 1 was about the same as the '99'01 cobra but had a live rear axle.
Tell em
I saw a 2000 R, very cool car.
Mach 1 back then had the dohc 32 valves. .👍
I was just about to post about this. I was like, wtf is he talking about bigger v8. Whether it’s a GT, Mach 1 or Cobra(minus the cobra R) they’re all 281ci engines. Difference being GT’s are a 2 valve sohc and Mach/Cobra are 4 valve dohc and the termi came with forged internals and an Eaten supercharger
I've got a 2004 Mustang GT Auto, has 152,000 miles and never an issue with the engine or trans. Baught it used in 05 and has been very reliable, change oil every 5k miles, atf every 30k, coolant every 50-60k, rear diff oil every 50k, still runs and drives like new. These cars are underrated as far as dependability goes provided they're well maintained.
i have a 2001 - 3.8 6 cyl - mustang - 200,000 plus - miles - leaks a little but great car - no smoke. Update: 204,152

My 2000 gt is still going strong with 116,000 miles! Haven’t had any problems with it besides having to change the fuel pump and replacing the clutch. Not super fast but it’s a fun car to drive.
Just bought a 2000 for 1k, just needed to change the mass air flow sensor, clean throttle body, spark plugs and use some engine and gas additive and it runs perfectly now.
They are really safe. I was in a collision going 70mph and hit a STOPPED CAR and my car wasn’t even totaled and I didn’t have a scratch. Got the car fixed and it drove just as it did before
This car is a gem . I personally love these cars (99-04) mustangs, and I think they will hold value for a long time.
My 2000 Mustang NottaGT with the V6 and automatic transmission has been in the family since new, I have driven it about 9 years myself. 150000 miles, never broke down, worst repair was crack in water pump. The plastic vent “cowl” below the windshield has deteriorated a little, and the haze on the headlights I haven’t bothered to restore. Oh yeah, once had to replace gas cap, and finally a few front suspension parts around 145k miles. That’s all, everything else was normal consumables, and all parts of the car continues to work great except the radio - now I use Bluetooth speakers 🔊
Take care of them and they can run a good long time. I drove my 87 Mustang for 24 years and 306k miles before the engine blew. I definitely got my money's worth.
Just bought a 99 GT about 2 weeks for 2500 set in the lady's garage for 3 years still runs strong and turns heads lol

I bought an 02 GT Mustang (4.6 liter) with 60K milers on it, because it was only $3500, I wasn't super crazy about the car, but it has REALLY grown on me. 10 years later, it has over 170K and has NEVER been to the shop. At about 80K, it lost it's oil through the filter and seized the engine. I let it cool down, replaced the oil and filter and gave the crank a little tug and it started right up. 90K miles later, it is still going strong. I have only ever had to replace about two coils the whole time. This has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. The poor car has been hammered by deer high wind and hail and looks really rough. I am contemplating doing a full resto of the car

Found a abandoned 00 mustang GT for 4 or 5 yrs under a tree. A car wash, fuel pump, 4 fuel injectors (that i hijacked from a 4.6 triton) a o2 sensor, set of keys and I'm on the road. It's a cherry too.
Hi Scotty.
Can't believe I am here after 18 SECONDS.
hello!
The 4.6 liter engine is one of the best engines Ford made. They should have never stopped making them.
Or the 99-04 3.8ls. :)
Well, I did say one of the best, not best.
I’ve thought about selling my 2003 SVT Cobra but can’t do it!!
Keep it
Don’t, I miss my Bullitt almost every day
I wouldn't sell it, there's a finite number of Cobras that decreases every year. There will always be newer and faster cars but that's a future classic.
I own 2 of these cars- an 03, and an 04 respectively, both GT. owned mustangs for about.. six years now? I won’t say it’s the most reliable thing out there, but I will say as long as you change the oil regularly and make sure your fluids are topped off, most of the work I’ve needed to do on these cars I could, and have, done by myself. So user friendly and spacious, even with a v8 under the hood. Plus, a side effect of the cheapness of the interior and way ford uses interchangeable parts to reduce overhead cost, everything on these cars is really cheap to purchase, and really intuitive to do work on. That, and if you don’t like cheap and fast, there’s a huge community of people making aftermarket replacements for just about everything in the SN95. Though, something I will say for anybody thinking about buying this kind of car and not knowing what they’re about to get into, keep a spare serpentine belt in your car with the appropriate ratchet size for your belt tensioner. That belt likes to snap after awhile. Overall, give these car the literal minimum amount of care and attention and you’ll have yourself a car that’s gonna do what YOU ask it to, no questions asked; just be careful what you ask for.
Scotty after the owner's wife sees this video she is going to
want to know who's G-String that was in the trunk.
Or chewing gum on the steering wheel lmao.
Had to tell you about my experience with a 1995 Ford Mustang with the 5.0 (302 C.I.) engine. The car was so light in the rear & with so much power from the engine you could easily spin the rear tires when making a turn if you weren't careful. It also could not make it up any grade with ice & snow on the road. These are things they failed to mention in the reviews before I bought the car. I am glad you are not afraid to tell it like it is.
But they don't spin outta control like the videos you see unless you're too bad at driving. Used to slam thru the gears in the rain at a light at night in my 97. Got it up to 90 in 3rd, would let off the gas and would really be doing like 45 and still going straight.
Of course once I got good tires it was a different story.
Those mustangs don't have factory sunroofs, it's an aftermarket.
pretty sure it was an option for them back then lmao
You are correct, the roof is so curved I bet this one has a ton of rubber gasket to prevent water leaking in.
@Edward Telles only thing that leaks on my '99 Tacoma is the sunroof the original owner had put in.
Just got a 2000 v6 Mustang for my first car a few months ago. Been enjoying it way more than I would've expected. Wish I knew how to start working on it though.

Scotty what do you think of the V6 version of the 2000 Mustang? 3.8L Engine with 193HP. I have one and I love it, runs great, almost at 140k. Love my Mustang.
Yea I have a v6 2000 mustang and that mfr just never dies
Thanks for making this video, Scotty! I recently bought a 2003 New Edge Mustang GT auto with 62K for 5800 and I’ve always wanted your opinion on this car. Glad I bought a reliable, fun vehicle!
The price for a 2003 GT with 62k miles where I love is 12k now lol
Wow what a steal. I paid 5k for mine when it had 125k in 2019.
That is a steal but… auto?? It’s okay on a v6 but ON A 4.6?!?!
My old 2000 v6 hit 350k and had no problems
My grandpa had an 01 mustang cobra. They had 320hp. So much fun when he’d pick me up from elementary school. He’s got a 2012 5.0 now but that cobra will always be special.
Just put a new 5 speed transmission in mine. Car still runs like new. Not a bad for $4k, drove it 3 years without any major issues! I get paid mileage to drive to appointments all over the state for and mine gets 34mpg in the passing lane with a ladder in the trunk. Its a money making machine for sure. And maintenance is a breeze. I have a 4x4 truck if the weather is bad but it just sits for the most part.
I regretted selling my first 02 GT and purchased an 03. They are so much fun, evin if slow. And that says something since I also own a newer supercharged 5.0 coyote.
Thank you I agree change the oil on earlier intervals and it will last longer.
Samd engine as the Lincoln Town car. It will run for 999,999 or more
Those 4.6 2V are damn good motors. I currently own a 1992 Lincoln Towncar Cartier with the AODE that i bought with 83k original miles for $1850 back in october. Just rolled over 88,000 miles and its an amazing daily. It could use paint from clear coat fading, but otherwise its beautiful. I wxpect to drive it for many years to come. Also- those new edge mustangs you had the V6 base model, the 2V 4.6 in the GT, and tge 4V 4.6 in Mach 1s, 99/01 cobras, and the 03/04 cobras had the 4V 4.6 with an eaton supercharger. There was also the SUPER rare Cobra R that had a supercharged 5.4 if im not mistaken. But otherwise all the newedge mustangs from GT and up were all the 4.6L, just some 2V some 4V and the terminators had the eaton (besides the rare cobra R)
Scotty must have 800 cars by now in his garage
And 80,000 car parts!😁
Great car for sure....I use mine as a daily driver...317K miles and counting. Major work done on the car after 15 years, intake manifold (because they are mostly plastic), fuel pump, AC compressor, shocks. Regular maintenance (fluid changes, tune ups) will keep the car running. My target is 500K and I'll be more than happy. After that I might have the Engine and Transmission replaced and keep it mostly stocked. Love my Stang!
The GM Quad 4 engines were notorious for blowing head gaskets too.
Total junk.
Happened to my parent's Olds
Last month I bought a 02 Mustang for $1K. Paint is faded but the engine and transmission is 100% with 160K miles. One owner, super clean. Oil change religiously. Cold A/C! Only problem is the alignment and tie rod. Awesome car and love it
Mechnics are the only civilians that can get away with driving fast thru a residential neighborhood. "Officer I have to test drive the car!!!"
Thats a great model. Fun to play with and does everything you need. I had a 98 v6 I enjoyed it.
Got it for 3k. New transmission and the works. Helps to haggle.
Anyone surprised? Ford builds solid vehicles!
*Used to
Except F-Series trucks
Yadonious 500 I disagree I drive an 02’ f-150, has over 200,000 miles, and still runs like a champ
Carsen Bart What I’m saying is that everything except F series used to be good, but are not as good anymore. F series used to be good and still are
Yadonious 500 🤦♂️ my bad I misread
Earl Lee they stopped making minivans in 2007 but they were fairly well made; I still see a lot of them on the road
I got my 1999 GT 6 months ago for $3000, it has 150,000 miles on it. Car ran and drove, but it was somewhat of a project.
Had to replace the rack and pinion on it, and completely paint the right rear fender of the car because it was just primer. As well as replace a missing lower rocker end and 40th anniversary badge on the side.
Edit: almost forgot I had to replace the radio, got a cheap Walmart one that had Bluetooth, thankfully the speakers still worked.
I got a 2002 v6 w 30k miles for 4K it runs really well I’m happy 🤩
Thats a good deal
got mine with 116k, some problems but all fixed up 😁 Not all the power in the world but still fun nonetheless
@@IntelTV what’s the fastest you’ve gone with it
SCOTYY I DRIVE A YUGO FOR 28 YEARS IT HAS 1.8 MILLION KILMOTERS AND I PUT NO MONEY IN IT. SAY SOMETHING ABOUT THAT!!!!!!
Proof?
Battery, spark plugs , alternator , brakes, tires, oil, filters, suspension, license payment, insurance payment, gas payment, this might be just half of what you already "put money in it" ......
@@improbro1124 Nah I only pay gas, inserance, oil THAT'S THE ONLY THING I SPENT ON (which are basic stuff)
@@freelanceryuu I will once i get a camera next week
@Jason Pohlod I will I just need to buy a new camera
Best generation mustang for longevity. Loved mine ❤️. Going to buy another someday.
Just got a 97 gt convertable its not super fast but it sounds amazing
It's also a great looking cat. The Sn95 saved mustang from extinction as the foxes weren't doing it for Ford due to being slow and unreliable, in addition to being downright ugly. Sales on foxes picked up right before the new model because people found out they were so easy to modify and stuff larger engines in. I miss my 97 mustang. Lasted 500k miles and 14 years almost.
I owned three new edge mustang's two '02s and an '04 these cars go to 300k miles. Now own a '14 🏇💯
That’s why you don’t want to buy cheap crap 😂 I love watching Scotty speak the truth 😂!!!
I enjoyed the video man. That mustang is absolutely a workhorse: I was curious if you could do a review video on the 1988 model
Only mustang worth getting is a 5.0 foxbody
see Scotty s' vid about 03..04 Cobra..they are sweet.
Nothing against the Fox, but I'd rather have the Coyote - hold the old school 5.0 OHV and gimme a DOHC 5.0 instead !!😀
Coyote all day. Foxes were only good as modified cars. So a 5.0 coyote fox would be great. Still an ugly eyesore of a car though.
Just got mines for $3800. She passed smog with ease. Great purchase
Don’t see many mustangs with a sunroof. Was that an option? Or was that added?
He added it! I would never do that
Some dealerships did it after they bought the car from Ford
it's very rare ill say that.
