And then the Camaro still had a more powerful engine. Starting the pony car segment would be credited to Ford not the Mustang itself, and it did not make the pony car segment famous around the world by itself, there a lot of other pony cars that helped. Can't use that against the Camaro that GM executives didn't think of it first. So -1 to the Mustang because it was a poop car until Shelby got involved and then -1 because it still didn't have as much power. thomasj1026 Yes actually, Chevy decided to stop production of the Camaro. That’s not on the Mustang, why should it lose an entire decade of points. Besides, Camaro still would’ve lost that decade as Mustang had the Terminator, the S197 which literally defined the look of muscle cars for the next decade, and the Shelby GT500. Even if the Camaro had come out with some cool shit, the best they could’ve gotten was 5 to 4. The was easily one of most impactful decades for the Mustang.
thomasj1026 yes the decade still exists and the camero wasn’t there. Just because camero ran back to the whole it belongs for a while doesn’t mean we don’t talk about the mediocre mustangs that still happened
Wade Dungan doesn’t make a lot of sense to make a 2000’s category. The Camaro was gone from 2002-2009. Would’ve been an easy win for the Mustang due to lack of competition from Chevy
@@VIccs826 the Mustang was there for 3 years longer in the 60s too. Camaro was easily better in 2002 and when it was reintroduced. But Mustang would have gotten more points for basically getting the market back to profitability.
Wade Dungan ya they really should have separated at least the 2014 from the 2000’s as it is the car that actually brought back the coyote as well as destroyed the camaro in top speed.
Yeah, we really needed to separate the '00s from the '10s. Mustang would have still won that round, but I think Camaro has made some gains in the '10s, so it would have been good to distinguish between the decades. Overall I think Camaro dominated the '10s performance-wise, though clearly Mustang outsold the Camaro once again, especially toward the end of the decade. I the end, "best" is subjective. For me, I've always been a Mustang fan and it will always be the ultimate winner in my heart. But I also can't deny the performance of the Camaro, and it has consistently gotten high marks. The styling was never my cup of tea, and the visibility has suffered from the design-first philosophy, but the IRS and the chassis have always been high points for the Camaro as well. Going forward the 2020 GT500 has really see a new bar, and I'm interested to see what Camaro does next. Though the styling needs a redesign in my book, they could really improve the interior visibility and move away from the concept design a little more. The reason is that the Camaro didn't release until 2010 after being discontinued in 2002, making the Camaro practically meaningless in that era, giving the Mustang probably too many points going into the next round.
Well the Camaro would have been out for most of the 2000-2010 decade so the mustang would have taken a massive lead for being pretty much the only one. But that's on Chevy for being lame so the mustang should have at least 20 points.

There was never any s197 SVT Cobra? S197 is 2005+, you are probably (hopefully) talking about the New Edge SN-95 facelift cars... But then, you're also woefully wrong about your specs there, too- the Cobra started with 320hp for '99, although they were actually short some on dyno-tests; due to the bad publicity, Ford fixed that pretty quickly. In 2000, they released the Cobra R, with 385hp (claimed). This engine may have produced a little more, but definitely not 150hp more. The last, and best Cobra aside from the Cobra R was the Terminator, introduced in 2003, with 390 hp from its supercharged V8. During this time, ford also produced the Mach I, which was a tad above 300hp, while the GT remained stuck with a paltry 260 until the 2005. Perhaps you are trying to call the Shelby GT-500 a Cobra, though? It's not. That did come with 500+ hp, but it has been consistently outmatched by the Camaro ZL1 (and the briefly returned Z28) since the latter's inception.
Yeah but in 2018 the Mustang GT came back with 460 horsepower. It would be kinda pointless to constantly go back and forth through every year change, the Mustang at it’s best beats the Camero at it’s best and in the end that’s what matters.
@@gilbertalvarez95 The description of the video states that it is about which is the better muscle or "pony" car though. And besides although Ford tried to pay tribute to the Mach 1 through the Mach E it is not a successor as they are two separate genres of car. So a few things. The 6th gen zl1 1le wasnt the first time the camarowas beating super cars at the ring. The 5th gen z28 still to this day has a better lap time than many super cars at the time and even some base models that are newer. The 5th gen ss was also used for u2 landing and the camarl has been the car of choise for nascat safety car for a long long time now.

Your statement is based on the muscle car guy argument. Companies base the success of a car based on sales, not performance stats. Camaros were built to outperform mustangs and did so consistantly. Ford almost always sold more cars. Mustang started as a sports coupe (sort of like a miata) until camaro and firebird came along. GM essentially created the muscle car craze with "pony" cars. How could you possibly skip one of the most iconic mustangs ever built.... the 03 - 04 Cobras. Terminator! It was the most powerful mustang ever built, until the 2011 5.0 came out.
False the 07 gt500 was putting down a solid 60-70 rwhp more stock for stock. The 03 cobra was more underrated being rated 390 and putting down 360-380 to the tires stock the gt500 was rated 500 and did like 420-450 rwhp stock so even though they weren't as underrated as the 03 cobra they still put out a significant amount more power stock for stock and with similar mods on both the gap got wider. The gt500 was 250ish lbs heavier coupe vs coupe but it still had a better power to weight ratio and was ultimately the faster car but like I said once mods came into the equation the gap widened. But we are talking about factory hp the 07 gt500 put down a solid 60-70+ rwhp more stock for stock than the 03-04 cobra. So no it wasn't the mistake powerful mustang ever built until the 5 0 came.
I think the 69 camaro was the best for styling. Always wanted one. When I was in my teens everyone had one. Now, I have no clue what one would be worth in order to get a fair deal. I would just want one that was fixed up, and not original.

It’s out of 5, like how people rate movies
@@ragequitter Yeah that is obvious, they are wanting reasons for the points or better reasons, because honestly the 60s was shit for the Mustang by comparison, the Mustang was a "secretaries car" until Ford the 2nd got Shelby to fix it. I would give a total of 2 points for selling a shit ton, and 1 point for how good the Shelby cars were for a total of 3 points.
Danny Hampton I agree. If you would compare the first ever motorcycle helmet with the best helmet we have today, you wouldn’t rate the first helmet better because it was the first.

thomasj1026 Yes actually, Chevy decided to stop production of the Camaro.

@@VIccs826 the Mustang was there for 3 years longer in the 60s too. Camaro was easily better in 2002 and when it was reintroduced. But Mustang would have gotten more points for basically getting the market back to profitability.
Yeah it’s called twentycade
I'm not a big fan of the recent refresh and I wish they'd be a little more adventurous.

There was no Camaro during the time of the Terminator, nothing to compare it to.
I love how he mentioned the new 5.0 with 435 hrspr in 2015 but left out chevys reply with the 6th gen camaro with 455 hrspr in 2016
Yeah but in 2018 the Mustang GT came back with 460 horsepower. It would be kinda pointless to constantly go back and forth through every year change, the Mustang at it’s best beats the Camero at it’s best and in the end that’s what matters.
And how he totally left out the Mach e 😂😂
@@gilbertalvarez95 the Mach E isn't a muscle car
DEADeye10 he’s not talking about muscle it says mustang versus camaro, he talked about the Mach 1 in the video the Mach e is the newer version
@@gilbertalvarez95 The description of the video states that it is about which is the better muscle or "pony" car though. And besides although Ford tried to pay tribute to the Mach 1 through the Mach E it is not a successor as they are two separate genres of car. Ford is making a true electric mustang which would better to succeed the Mach 1 as a muscle car.

I've always been a Chevy guy since I got my first car, but Mustangs and Camaros are both awesome cars. I'm not bent that the Mustang came out on top in your video but this video was absolutely biased in the point scale.

There was no Camaro in from 2002-2009. That would be 0 points for Camaro and free points for mustang.
thomasj1026 good point yeah
@@thomasj1026 he still "took away" points for that regardless though i dont see what the diffrence would have been other than an argument being made that "it wasnt biased"
@@thomasj1026 Yes but ford had three different generations of Mustang during those years. They had the Generation from the 90s, the new edge, the rebirth of the OG look models, and the S255s. All three of the Gens had big names, the Terminator mustang, the rebirth of the GT500, And look at the new GT500, or GT350, The Camaro isnt up to snuff today, the top of the line model can't compete with the Mustang top of the line model, its not really a fair comparison either, due to the fact the Top of the line Camaro hasnt been revamped recently, and if rumors are to be believed, the Camaro is going to be discontinued somewhat soon
1st . I ll say I m a Camaro fan over a Mustang, That being said your right Camaro was Cancelled and then brought back way late considering they could have built a 5th gen. from the Catera or the Monoro earlier. Also Camaro should of lost points because of the 6th gen restyle lacked imagination and look like a clone of 5th despite being a far better car. BUT mustang should loose because its now an Electric family suv...lol
“I’m gonna try my best to not be biased” the 60’s Camaros embarrassed the mustangs and outperformed them “5 points for the mustang”
(like they did with the mid size cars) In the end though, without the mustang the camaro wouldn't exist. Not that this point system makes any sense.. but they do get some. Lol
@Matthew S I was like WTF when I heard him say that.. lol
@Erwin Klassen Yea the Mustangs was cheaper and was marketed for women.. The Mustang didn’t get serious until the Camaro came out..
@@erwinklassen8603 But this isn't a video about which car sold more per decade, it's about a head to head comparison on the cars as a whole. To say "the Camaro was better in just about every way, but the Mustang was first, therefore the Mustang gets a higher score" is just asinine.

The 2000s mach 1 supercharged was what made me like newer (fi) fords
I think the 69 camaro was the best for styling. Always wanted one. When I was in my teens everyone had one. Now, I have no clue what one would be worth in order to get a fair deal. I would just want one that was fixed up, and not original.
