Immaculate! Definitely feeling the SVO vibes... Was wondering how long until these started to show up under the hood of some well preserved Fox Body builds. Only thing cooler would be a Barra, but that would completely go against the well roundedness of it's easy to source parts bin, and costs.
Naah, I think it's a compliment. The SR doesn't need to do, be or prove anything. It's proven itself and it's reputation speaks for itself. I may be a little biased but, whatever.
id love to see more budget out of the box swaps like this. i was thinking about swapping a nissan truck engine into an altima similar to this situation. so i love to see this!
As someone who also owned a Focus ST for a while, most of the problems stemmed from the drivetrain and not really the motor itself. The trans was terrible, torque steer sucked, and axles snap when you do get traction and make any power. After seeing this I’m definitely tempted to do a similar swap in something.
I’ve been trying to tell people the 13-16 Fusion 2.0s are slept on. Same exact motor that is in the Focus ST so it has all of the same aftermarket support. 90% of the parts are a direct swap. More tunability than the later models and was more reliable because it didn’t have the coolant intrusion issues.
Ford put these and the 1.6 ecoboost in soooo many suvs. They're functionally the same as the engines they put in the focus and fiesta too. I think they'll become more and more popular as time goes on because they're everywhere so they're pretty cheap, they respond well to mods, and they're both quite capable of respectable power without having to go for built internals. Slap on a bigger turbo and supporting bolt ons and a tune and you're good to go. Also, i think the 3071 might be my favorite turbo. I have one in my mazdaspeed and it absolutely rips.
Lighter more balanced to boot. Very respectable. When these came out, many had wide body.and testarossa, coke bottle body kits on 315/50 ZR tires with purple under glow with neon tubes including neon plate frames. Yes that was a thing including the 25,000 volt neon transformers.
Not many 😂 Percentage wise and I don't know your neighborhood, but they definitely are remembered in many ppls minds in any of that stuff you just named. 😂😂😂
Had a 90 Z24 that had the 3.1 liter 6 in it & a 5-speed. It was fairly quick (BITD) as long as you could control the torque steer. Beat many muscle cars that weren't expecting it be as quick as it was. ...and either did that Turbo Coupe T-Bird , but it was me who was surprised. Now, in an actual 1/4 mile I had him, but that next 1/4+ mile he was GONE !
Just keep an eye when yall are buying used 2.0s, some of them have been having coolant jackets cavitation issues and making them consume coolant/ run rough, so Ford has a redesign to fix said issue
The single scroll didn't have those issues, only the twin scroll did. Twin scroll has a similar head to the 2.3, and a block more similar to the 1.6 and 1.5 4 cylinders. Open deck block, and it causes the coolant consumption issues.
My friend and I built a track car out of my 1972 celica parts car. We put the 2.3 ecoboost into it. We were the first guys to swap a 2.3 ecoboost into something. Used in lots of circle track mini stocks.
Not a tractor engine..
It's old old design but man they can rip when done right.
I used to think the same
Now this intrigues me!! Building a 2.3 Lima Turbo for NASA racing, eventually would LOVE to go even more modern with my NASA setup.
I had a 14 escape all-wheel drive that I was able to fit a lot of focus ST. Bolt-ons to and it was a blast. This thing goes the rear-wheel drive and the Fox platform just screams awesome! cheap fun!
I got board with My 1999 Mustang GT Convertible so I took the heads off port and polished the heads and upper plenum completely using just a dremel and it took a few weeks of work and now my stock 4.6 2 valve has come alive it just sounds so clean and the power is instant 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds is not fast by modern terms but for a otherwise stock Mustang is actually a ton of fun.
Damn, that sounds insane and at that price.... sheeeeeit. Badass foxbody mustang
Immaculate! Definitely feeling the SVO vibes... Was wondering how long until these started to show up under the hood of some well preserved Fox Body builds. Only thing cooler would be a Barra, but that would completely go against the well roundedness of it's easy to source parts bin, and costs.
This actually is a unique swap to me you always here and see bad things about ecoboosts when done wrong but never when done right
I'm glad that esslinger is still out there killing it in the 4cyl fox body world! ❤
I had a 79 cobra with a turbo’d 2.3… factory. Everywhere I went, people couldn’t believe it. It was a blast to drive!
My thunderbird turbo coupe is still one of my favorite cars I've owner over the years
Amazing build and not your typical 5.0 coyote motor swapp fox body mustang...
It's cool af gr8t build....
5:20 LMAO
The Nissan boys won't like that!
Naah, I think it's a compliment. The SR doesn't need to do, be or prove anything. It's proven itself and it's reputation speaks for itself. I may be a little biased but, whatever.
Its fine, none of the nissan boys engines run anyway
@@fredericoespinozaHyundai going to buy out Nissan 😂
The only reason we need a new SR20DET is that SR20DETs aren't plentiful or cheap anymore.
It's similar to a k swap but is much cheaper. If it doesn't grenade itself after 10k miles it's a good option. Great job!
Love my 1.6L eco boost, 300whp and 330ft/lbs in a 2700lb car 🤌🏻
Yes. Cool unique cars and swaps are how I found your channel
Love this build keeping up with the times! We need to find more engines like this
I just picked up a focus for $700 and dropping in a 2.3 eco. This makes me happy
id love to see more budget out of the box swaps like this. i was thinking about swapping a nissan truck engine into an altima similar to this situation. so i love to see this!
BNR focus st here, this video makes me so happy, but idk if you can beat my spare motor I’m building I got for $150😉
Nice to see you here man!
Some reason i love the look of the car those widebody fenders really makes it look different
The 2L is a lot stouter than 2.3l in my opinion I have the Na 2L in my focus and love it
As a former Turbocoupe and an 13'ST1 owner I aprove this!!! Would love to do this or a Volvo 2.5 5 pot or a 3.5 on an SN95
I've been wanting to see the old 3.5 EB swapped into an SN95. It could be like the American MKIV Supra.
NOT GONNA LIE I BET THAT ECO BOOST THE MOST RELIABLE ENGINE THAT THING WILL EVER HAVE AND I BET it drives like a dream
This looks like a fun build!
This is my favorite Mustang so far!
Those rods and pistons are hanging on for dear life 😮
Might sound funny, but this might be one of my favorite mustangs I've ever seen
Homie made his own mustang RS 😂❤
Ford put these and the 1.6 ecoboost in soooo many suvs. They're functionally the same as the engines they put in the focus and fiesta too. I think they'll become more and more popular as time goes on because they're everywhere so they're pretty cheap, they respond well to mods, and they're both quite capable of respectable power without having to go for built internals. Slap on a bigger turbo and supporting bolt ons and a tune and you're good to go.
Also, i think the 3071 might be my favorite turbo. I have one in my mazdaspeed and it absolutely rips.
Appreciate the shout out! We're always looking for ways to make these EB swaps easier. What should we swap next?
E36
I sold my focus st a year ago. i think about it every day. i loved it, the sound is so good. But in a Mustang!?!? KILLER!
Oww it's the 4cylinder! Thought it would be the v6 Ecoboost. Anyway this is just as cool.
I really dig how far back the placement of the engine is in the bay.
Cool, sounded like he had more to say but kept getting interrupted. Good to see folks doing different stuff
This is actually really cool, i love the boost from my sisters eco boost ranger😭. So putting something similar in a tinier car would be awesome
This is super cool! What a blast!
Lighter more balanced to boot. Very respectable. When these came out, many had wide body.and testarossa, coke bottle body kits on 315/50 ZR tires with purple under glow with neon tubes including neon plate frames. Yes that was a thing including the 25,000 volt neon transformers.
Not many 😂
Percentage wise and I don't know your neighborhood, but they definitely are remembered in many ppls minds in any of that stuff you just named.
This is bad ass!! I love the rear fender flares too!
0:04 "Say no more"
Thats a good looking car. It’ll look great painted. The matte looks good. He should do it full matte.
Definitely a unique swap! Very cool car
Open deck block, and it causes the coolant consumption issues.
ford 2 litre ecoboosts and GM 2litre ecotecs will be the next craze for cheap swaps. They are plentiful and bulletproof.
Don't think I didn't notice the DMO Deejay reference at 9:15 😂😂😂
Saw the car at Carlisle this year. Lots of neat cars this year. Including yours.
Very awesome and cool build I love that fox body with that for Bangor in it
My friend and I built a track car out of my 1972 celica parts car. We put the 2.3 ecoboost into it. We were the first guys to swap a 2.3 ecoboost into something. But having each having our own growing family’s and buying/building houses it’s taken a while to get the car going. So we are probably the last ones to get it running 🤦♂️. The car is highly modified. It’s getting tuned this week.
I’ve always loved the svo’s and built a few 2.3’s in my day. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time lol
Best 4 cyl car I've seen in a while
sickkkk. going to have to look into this. good job on being original and thinking outside the box.
great car, great video, great guy, all around great - thanks!
Thats a really cool foxbody! Doesnt sound bad either
