I'm not sure anyone plays guitar like Ribot. It's so easy to see his style as a sort of blues derivative, but it's so much more complex than that...The guy's an animal.
Maynard James Keenan also is. And i gotta say Mike doesn't even sing perfect here. And He knows that. I heard someone say something really true about "good singers" and he said ever since these smelly casting shows came up in casual TV People demand that singers must be perfect/good/flawless or whatever ... otherwise they aren't any good. What most viewers of these garbage casting crap Shows dont even realize is that there rarely is even real live singing. Dont get fooled people! Leave some Room for a human approach. If i hear failures then at least i know i'm not getting fooled. And if you think Mike Pattons Fantomas or Moonchild Trio or whatever isn't singing. Then you are right! You are not being fooled!
It didn't sound as good live. They improved it for TV. (I was there. This was only the first of several John Zorn's projects that night. One of the most incredible concerts in my life.)
Mam czasy utworów (tuż po skończeniu poprzedniego, więc jest aplauz): 0:16 Batman 2:17 Besos de Sangre 8:28 Tamalpais 13:28 Dalquiel 18:50 Towards Kafiristan 22:32 La Flor Der Barrio 27:16 Zapata Rail 30:05 Book of Shadows 35:06 Tears of Morning 39:27 Osaka Bondage 40:56 Mountain View 47:36 Of Wonder and Certainty 52:40 Dostoyevsky
I'm a big Mike Patton fan but after watching this show a couple of times I'm now also a Jesse Harris fan, his vocals are completely different from Pattons but they have a simplistic but mesmerising tone. I like the way John Zorns ear works, the vocalists are all completely different but all masters of their own specific sound. He gels them well.
Now that I've seen John Zorn's music played by some of these same musicians and the man himself live, I'm happy to say it was everything I dreamed it would be and so much more. I've never experienced anything like it before, it was transcendent in every sense of the word. Long live Zorn and his music.
40:28-40:41 is one of the most amazing things I have ever heard..actually, the whole show is just incredible.. wow. First listen for me. 51:18-52:09 is off the grid. Wonderfully diverse material. Dostoyevsky, final track, is a fitting end. Whole lot of talent on this stage.
Wow. Just wow. Blown away by the collaboration of these great artists and John Zorn's ingenuity to make it all happen. My old man asked me to listen. Thanks Randy!
John Zorn's art has saved me from this pandemic. Even more living in Brazil, witnessing such neglect of this misgovernment. Long live Zorn! #FORABOLSONAROGENOCIDA
I have probably watched this video 100 times. I think i am addicted. I got to see the song project when they were in NYC, and it was Amazing. Somehow i was disappointed with the record that recently came out. Probably the fault of my own anticipation, and expectations.
@2:30'Besos de sangre' is such an amazing song. I cry every single time i hear it. Never seen Sofia Rei before, she's very good. Found this 'cause of Zorn and Patton, was blown away by all the musicians, especially Ribot and Baron. It's the pure Cosmos, unbelievably awesome on all levels. Thanks to people who have made this possible and bravo, John Zorn! BTW, Osaka Bondage ( starting @39:34) is the best thing i've heard in a year.
Great concert. I've been there :D and I have to say that the music in this video sounds better than in real. There were some issues with the sound: some scratchy, squeaky noices on high tones, Kenny Wollesen's vibes were set too quiet, also you wouldn't hear the full spectrum of Mike's voice. The TV material sounds deeper, broader and clearer than actual concert. I hope TVP will broadcast the other projects as well. Thanks for uploading this!
Twenty minutes in the realisation has struck me: all these songs have been performed by one guitarist. What an utter genius. My feeling right now is the exact description of what awe and amazement is.
Beautiful. Whenever I want to have a good time, I stop by - bliss all around. Forever grateful for this amazing team excelling at the best thing in the world.
" Tears of morning", la interpretación de Sophia es increíble y todos los músicos que acompañan la hacen más extraordinaria aún 🖤🇦🇷. Un corazón peronista llora con este tema.
+Kim Holden Great : I was reading the posts wondering if somebody would finally notice this regrettable forgetting. Thanks for Sofia Rei! ... who, moreover, has written the lyrics for Besos de sangre (very beautiful poem can be read on her facebook).
Wow! So well done. Really enjoying this. I saw Naked City in Philly. We got there early, and JZ let us hang out for the soundcheck. One of the best memories I will ever have.
Grew up listening to this and I've been inspired ever since to try and be as unique. Totally awesome music that needs to be continuously listened to !!!!
What an absolutely stonking performance by all. I'm in awe. Loved every moment. Thank you very much indeed. podgoryt. I owe you!! na prawdę bardzo ci dziękuję
Splendid assembly of master musicians performing ("playing")Mr. ZORN's incredible compositions. As always with and empathic band, spiritually moving and sonically arresting.❤️
The Dreamers are the least Zorn project that I'm interested in. On the other hand, it's always fun to listen ro Ribot. :-) Or Medeski. Or Baron. Or Patton ... Thanks for uploading.
I saw the Masada Electric at the Masada Marathon in Jazzaldia, last July. Probably the greatest show I've ever been to. This one here is an extended Masada Electric - compared to the Jazzaldia thing, where Patton and Medeski did not join. Man, I can only imagine what happened there, glad it's around on the internet... :) Cheers from Romania!
my favorite part is Joey Baron beaming with delight at playing music
How versital is this guy?! delicate sambas, jazz, death metal. The right dude for this job.
I've never seen musicians who enjoyed playing as much as these musicians do. It's great to watch.
Came for Mike Patton and Trevor Dunn, stayed for Sofia Rei... and everybody else.
Abso-lutely
Right, amazing performance! ❤
I'm not sure anyone plays guitar like Ribot. It's so easy to see his style as a sort of blues derivative, but it's so much more complex than that...The guy's an animal.
%100
Mike Patton is the best vocalist in the world!

...just adding that music is not competition, don't assign medals...
@@andreastenti98872nd place down .. patton is the best hands down!
kudos to the sound engineer.
Definitely. I bet whoever it is gets paid big money for doing this kind of a job.
@@VenomousHigh I doubt big money, but probably gets a bit more than the ridiculously low industry standard.
Marc Urselli is the guy that usually is doing sound stuff for Zorn.
It didn't sound as good live. They improved it for TV. (I was there. This was only the first of several John Zorn's projects that night. One of the most incredible concerts in my life.)
wish I could say Patton and Dunn are the highlights here, but Ribot is a force of nature
He ack's right when he ready, doan e?!?
Every time I watch this, I'm blown away by a different performer!
Lets not forget Baptista..beast on percusions
When Medeski is the weak link you are producing some good chit! Ribot, Baron, & Dunn are Amazeballs!

Właściwie, to ostatni utwór nazywa się "Assassins Bay" :)
my hero !
They all are incredible, and Sofia...her voice... I have no words...
Sofia is the sublimation of singing
I want to be happy in my job as happy as Joey Baron playing with Zorn.
Music... this is music! From Zorn's brain to our hearts. Masterpiece.

Very true
completely agree. It took me a while to jive to Jesse' style on this because I mainly came for Patton (hahaha), but Jesse's tone is perfect!

This is one of the best pieces of music I´ve ever heard and I come back to this regularly
Patton, Medeski, Marc Ribot, Trevor Dunn y Zorn.....ahhhhhh y Sofia Rei, ni hablar !!!!
ESO ES UN DREAM TEAM!!!!
HOW AMAZING WAS TREVOR DUNN?????????? yeah!

... great musicians and great singers !
One of the best music shows ever... absolutely great sounds... Patton is extraordinary... Wish I was there...
John Zorn is just making a universe
I feel the urge to give more than a single thumbs up! At least one for each of these wizards...including the sound engineers!
the way the editors fade in the personnel credits is classy af

This whole group of musicians is just extraordinary. I keep coming back to this concert time and time again.
when i die i´ll play this concert at my funeral!!! there are no words to evaluate his talent
Wow. Just wow. Blown away by the collaboration of these great artists and John Zorn's ingenuity to make it all happen. My old man asked me to listen. Thanks Randy!
I to jest kurwa FANTASTYCZNE!!! 28:30 Medeski, Ribot and Patton loosing control....
This is a killer show, totally amazing shit! I love it! Mean as can be, sweet as can be, and full of soul!!!

you should see him play with a balloon as a pick ... or was that Fred Frith?
+ryan sloan Thanks for replying to my comment man, I forgot about this concert! 😂 Your comment just brought me back to this awesome video
I'm back! LOL. At this rate I come back once a year because of a youtube comment😂

I was at the show in Paris, I never felt such emotions in a concert before. All notes are parfectly at the place it should be :)
Lucky you, I missed Marc Ribot in Paris because of the Eyjafjöll eruption in 2010....
I love how he got Sofia Rei involved in this. She's fantastic.
VELIKO HVALA POLJACIMA. SAVRSENO!!!!!
Man what a lineup.
As many other people I came here because of Patton and Dunn, but it is a pleasure to watch those people play, they all look they have so much fun.
