Tutti i brani sono fantastici! E per me è impossibile non ballare..Si, amo il tango, l'elettronica, il jazz...qui c'è tanto tanto altro! Mi piacerebbe andare a un loro live... chissà. Caught them at Stubb's amphitheater in Austin. It was a hot, hot, August summer night and they entered the stage dressed to the nines, tuxedo's that lasted nearly the entire set before taking their jackets off. Their beautiful sound consumed by the thick air visually matched their beautiful gowns and white suits through graceful movement across the stage. The stage lights probably added another 10 degrees but it did not curtail their stellar performance for a second!

Claro que não ficamos apenas na conversa e ele acabou me convidando para subir ao seu apartamento. Lá fora, Envolvimento da MC Loma embalava a madrugada; dentro, o hermano colocou esse álbum para tocar enquanto transávamos. Lembro que gozamos ao som de El capitalismo foráneo, que continua sendo minha música favorita do álbum. Esqueci meu colar de flores em cima da mesa, por outro lado, gravei esse álbum na minha memória. Inesquecível
Je ne suis pas Argentin...je suis né en banlieue parisienne, dans la ville d'où viennent Nos et Ademo, de PNL.....mais j'ai pu à l'âge de 16 ans voir Susana Rinaldi...qui a déclenché mon amour du tango, de la culture Argentine.....Puis j'ai découvert Julio Cortazar....la vie, le Karma, les puissances cosmiques, comme vous voulez, ont voulu que je vive des expériences extrêmes, marquées par le danger, le sang, les morts et la clandestinité...Et seul le Tango peut véritablement illustrer cela, comme une bande-son...je me souviens des Trottoirs de Buenos-Aires, aux Halles, en 1981, où j'allais écouter ces orchestres auxquels Cortazar payait l'avion pour venir jouer les week-end... Assis devant la scène et une bouteille de bon vin, je soufflais, me reposait de ma vie de dealer-junkie, pendant au moins une soirée, je m'écartais de cet univers si glauque, bien que riche en multiples plaisirs que Baudelaire aurait apprécié... Je pouvais prendre un peu de recul, méditer , me rouler dans les vagues nostalgiques de bandonéons..... J'étais loin, si loin...dans un autre univers...Comme dans une nouvelle de Cortazar, j'empruntais les passages des Panoramas, et avec un petit effort, j'aurais pu comme ses héros déboucher en plein coeur de Buenos-Aires, à une autre époque....ou renconter la Sybille, sur le Pont des Arts...le tango était ma bouffée d'oxygène... Autour de moi, je voyais les hommes tomber, et les femmes, aussi....Une maladie étrange rodait, mortelle, et semblait ne frapper que ceux qui avaient choisi d'enfreindre toutes les règles, de goûter à tous les plaisirs........Il me semblait que la Mort était une bête énorme, dont les mâchoires claquaient autour de moi, emportant un jour Patrick, CLAC, ou Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC... elle les emportait dans la nuit avant de repartir à la chasse, et je courais courais pour échapper à sa gueule monstrueuse, essouflé, ruisselant...mes seules échappées, mes seuls refuges étaient les concerts au Palace, au rose Bonbon, à l'Olympia, des moments de transe dans les décibels et la communion avec mes compagnons, compagnes de sabbat...mais ces soirées aux Trottoirs, là seulement je pouvais me faire face, m'entendre, m'écouter... Aujourd'hui, je crois bien que le tango m'a permis d'échapper à la Bête, à rester vivant....... Le Tango n'est pas une musique, c'est un art de vivre...et de mourir. I could step back, meditate, roll in the nostalgic waves of bandoneons.....I was far away, so far away... in another universe... Like in one of Cortazar's short stories, I walked through the passages of the Panoramas, and with a little effort, like his heroes, I could have ended up in the heart of Buenos-Aires, in another era....or met the Sybille, on the Pont des Arts...tango was my breath of oxygen... Around me, I could see men falling, and women, too....A strange disease lurked, deadly, and seemed to strike only those who chose to break all the rules, to taste all the pleasures........It seemed to me that Death was a huge beast, whose jaws snapped around me, one day taking Patrick, CLAC, or Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC.... she'd carry them off into the night before setting off on the hunt again, and I'd run and run to escape her monstrous maw, breathless, dripping...my only escapes, my only refuges were the concerts at the Palace, the Rose Bonbon, the Olympia, trance-like moemnts of decibels and communion with my companions, my Sabbath companions. ...but those evenings at the Trottoirs, only there could I face myself, hear myself, listen to myself...Today, I do believe that tango enabled me to escape the Beast, to stay alive....... tango is not a music, it's an art of living....and dying. Me parecía que la Muerte era una bestia enorme, cuyas fauces se desencajaban a mi alrededor, llevándose un día a Patrick, CLAC, o a Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC... This is an epic album, let's be real. To me it meant the awareness of Tango music, together with the notion of a remix that was tasteful in all its dimensions. The notion that throughout the centuries GREAT music has been written but also that with a few tasteful tweaks here and there you can modernize it all for the "younger" audience. This in fact captivated me and lead me to investigate a bit about Gotan Project and also the origins of Tango music in general.

J'étais là en 2008 en banlieue. I was at the 2008 concert on the island in the park in the banlieues! It was amazing, we had done a subparty in the métro, then ventured over on the RER. The vibe was surreal with them emanating sound from the center of this pond on a small island. Everyone was having a blast!

Sou brasileiro e um amigo, me regalou este álbum no princípio dos anos 2000. Escutava todos os dias. Aí fui morar em Barcelona e emprestei para um outro amigo, que nunca mais me devolveu. Eu não lembrava o nome do grupo e hj 19/11/2023, estava assistindo um filme, dança comigo, com Richard Gere, tocou uma música e eu imediatamente, reconheci. Procurei no aplicativo Shazan e descobri que era o Gotan. Estou muito feliz de ouvir novamente, estas preciosas canções.
I love this band and the album since came out in 2001. Back in the late 90's I was starting to get deep into Trip Hop, House, Techno, Industrial, etc, and all of a sudden I found this album on a record store, the seller told me "you would love this man!" (Esto te va a encantar amigo!). He was right, that was before UA-cam or Spotify ... you have to buy the CD to unveil what's inside.

Caught them at Stubb's amphitheater in Austin. It was a hot, hot, August summer night and they entered the stage dressed to the nines, tuxedo's that lasted nearly the entire set before taking their jackets off. Their beautiful sound consumed by the thick air visually matched their beautiful gowns and white suits through graceful movement across the stage. The stage lights probably added another 10 degrees but it did not curtail their stellar performance for a second!

Carnaval de 2018. Conheci um argentino enquanto descia a Augusta, em São Paulo, e fomos conversando até chegar à Praça Roosevelt, onde ele morava. Claro que não ficamos apenas na conversa e ele acabou me convidando para subir ao seu apartamento. Lá fora, Envolvimento da MC Loma embalava a madrugada; dentro, o hermano colocou esse álbum para tocar enquanto transávamos. Lembro que gozamos ao som de El capitalismo foráneo, que continua sendo minha música favorita do álbum. Esqueci meu colar de flores em cima da mesa, por outro lado, gravei esse álbum na minha memória. Inesquecível

El encuentro de culturas, todas en Argentina, sin duda ésta es la muestra. Argentina: talento, fuerza, templanza, actitud, arte, solidaridad.
Je ne suis pas Argentin...je suis né en banlieue parisienne, dans la ville d'où viennent Nos et Ademo, de PNL.....mais j'ai pu à l'âge de 16 ans voir Susana Rinaldi...qui a déclenché mon amour du tango, de la culture Argentine.....Puis j'ai découvert Julio Cortazar....la vie, le Karma, les puissances cosmiques, comme vous voulez, ont voulu que je vive des expériences extrêmes, marquées par le danger, le sang, les morts et la clandestinité...Et seul le Tango peut véritablement illustrer cela, comme une bande-son...je me souviens des Trottoirs de Buenos-Aires, aux Halles, en 1981, où j'allais écouter ces orchestres auxquels Cortazar payait l'avion pour venir jouer les week-end...
Assis devant la scène et une bouteille de bon vin, je soufflais, me reposait de ma vie de dealer-junkie, pendant au moins une soirée, je m'écartais de cet univers si glauque, bien que riche en multiples plaisirs que Baudelaire aurait apprécié...
Je pouvais prendre un peu de recul, méditer , me rouler dans les vagues nostalgiques de bandonéons.....
J'étais loin, si loin...dans un autre univers...Comme dans une nouvelle de Cortazar, j'empruntais les passages des Panoramas, et avec un petit effort, j'aurais pu comme ses héros déboucher en plein coeur de Buenos-Aires, à une autre époque....ou renconter la Sybille, sur le Pont des Arts...le tango était ma bouffée d'oxygène...
Autour de moi, je voyais les hommes tomber, et les femmes, aussi....Une maladie étrange rodait, mortelle, et semblait ne frapper que ceux qui avaient choisi d'enfreindre toutes les règles, de goûter à tous les plaisirs........Il me semblait que la Mort était une bête énorme, dont les mâchoires claquaient autour de moi, emportant un jour Patrick, CLAC, ou Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC... elle les emportait dans la nuit avant de repartir à la chasse, et je courais courais pour échapper à sa gueule monstrueuse, essouflé, ruisselant...mes seules échappées, mes seuls refuges étaient les concerts au Palace, au rose Bonbon, à l'Olympia, des moments de transe dans les décibels et la communion avec mes compagnons, compagnes de sabbat...mais ces soirées aux Trottoirs, là seulement je pouvais me faire face, m'entendre, m'écouter...
Aujourd'hui, je crois bien que le tango m'a permis d'échapper à la Bête, à rester vivant.......
Le Tango n'est pas une musique, c'est un art de vivre...et de mourir.

Sitting in front of the stage with a bottle of good wine, I'd take a breather from my life as a drug dealer-junkie, and for at least one evening, I'd get away from that gloomy universe, although rich in the many pleasures that Baudelaire would have appreciated... I could step back, meditate, roll in the nostalgic waves of bandoneons.....I was far away, so far away... in another universe... Like in one of Cortazar's short stories, I walked through the passages of the Panoramas, and with a little effort, like his heroes, I could have ended up in the heart of Buenos-Aires, in another era....or met the Sybille, on the Pont des Arts...tango was my breath of oxygen...
Around me, I could see men falling, and women, too....A strange disease lurked, deadly, and seemed to strike only those who chose to break all the rules, to taste all the pleasures........It seemed to me that Death was a huge beast, whose jaws snapped around me, one day taking Patrick, CLAC, or Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC.... she'd carry them off into the night before setting off on the hunt again, and I'd run and run to escape her monstrous maw, breathless, dripping...my only escapes, my only refuges were the concerts at the Palace, the Rose Bonbon, the Olympia, trance-like moemnts of decibels and communion with my companions, my Sabbath companions. ...but those evenings at the Trottoirs, only there could I face myself, hear myself, listen to myself...Today, I do believe that tango enabled me to escape the Beast, to stay alive.......

Como en un cuento de Cortazar, caminaba por los pasadizos de los Panoramas, y con un poco de esfuerzo, como sus héroes, podría haber acabado en el corazón de Buenos-Aires, en otra época....o me encontraba con el Sybille, en el Pont des Arts... el tango era mi soplo de aire fresco...
A mi alrededor, veía caer a los hombres, y también a las mujeres.... Una extraña enfermedad acechaba, mortal, y parecía golpear sólo a los que habían elegido romper todas las reglas, saborear todos los placeres........ Me parecía que la Muerte era una bestia enorme, cuyas fauces se desencajaban a mi alrededor, llevándose un día a Patrick, CLAC, o a Joël CLAC CLAC....Hélène CLAC CLAC... Mis únicas escapatorias, mis únicos refugios eran los conciertos en el Palace, el Bombón Rosa, el Olympia, momentos de trance, de decibelios y de comunión con mis compañeros, mis compañeros de Sabbath. ...pero esas noches en los Trottoirs, sólo allí podía enfrentarme a mí mismo, oírme, escucharme... Hoy, sí creo que el tango me ha permitido escapar de la Bestia, seguir vivo.......
El tango no es sólo música, es un arte de vivir... y de morir.

First heard this album one stormy night in 02 sitting at a beach bar on a Thai Island, sheltering from a big storm drinking mango shakes and smoking a few Js. I was about to leave when this came on but I stayed right to the end. Great memories!

This is an epic album, let's be real. To me it meant the awareness of Tango music, together with the notion of a remix that was tasteful in all its dimensions. The notion that throughout the centuries GREAT music has been written but also that with a few tasteful tweaks here and there you can modernize it all for the "younger" audience. This in fact captivated me and lead me to investigate a bit about Gotan Project and also the origins of Tango music in general.

It was amazing, we had done a subparty in the métro, then ventured over on the RER.
The vibe was surreal with them emanating sound from the center of this pond on a small island.
Everyone was having a blast!

Sou brasileiro e um amigo, me regalou este álbum no princípio dos anos 2000. Escutava todos os dias. Aí fui morar em Barcelona e emprestei para um outro amigo, que nunca mais me devolveu. Eu não lembrava o nome do grupo e hj 19/11/2023, estava assistindo um filme, dança comigo, com Richard Gere, tocou uma música e eu imediatamente, reconheci. Procurei no aplicativo Shazan e descobri que era o Gotan.
Estou muito feliz de ouvir novamente, estas preciosas canções.
I love this band and the album since came out in 2001. Back in the late 90's I was starting to get deep into Trip Hop, House, Techno, Industrial, etc, and all of a sudden I found this album on a record store, the seller told me "you would love this man!" (Esto te va a encantar amigo!). He was right, that was before UA-cam or Spotify ... you have to buy the CD to unveil what's inside.
I just produced a piece of digital art whilst listening to your amazing music. Your music is so inspirational. It takes me to another place. We have Queremos paz on another CD but I hadn't heard the other tracks. How can anyone not fall in love with your music?
