One of the best benefits of living in NYC was having access to Zorn concerts at The Knitting Factory and Tonic. Seeing Bar Kohkba and the Masada quartet live was so magical and transcendent. It lives in my soul and gives me life even 20+ years later.
God and his son Yeshua offer you life and life in abundance if you want it. Everything else is the vanity of vanities, but I appreciate your sentiment and a part of me is envious of you. However, I know that all of what we see, taste, touch, smell, and hear is hardly even real. Indeed, most of the universe (about 90%!!?) is composed of matter we can't detect with our human sensory devices. And truly, that which you cannot sense in the natural world and in the visible universe around you would be the true source of your life, sir. Everything else is just a fragmentary reflection of the eternal realm.
Remember coming across this after doing a wiki seaech on Marc Ribot after loving his work on Tom Waits' stuff years ago. It's simply one of the best live performances in music/art in general. The feelings projected and felt throughout is unmatched. Marc Ribot is an anomaly, no other like him. John Zorn is a genius for the vision and execution, absolutely flawless
Damn, this is good. So glad I stumbled on it today. Have several of his Bar Kokhba albums but always felt this was a band all about live performance. This video proves that. Wonderful music ! BTW, Marc Ribot is a genius.
fortunately seen this and other zorn stuff live few times...its great...and also love the way john just always dresses as if hé just been out to buy some bread for breakfast...lol...thanks for this amazing music bullshit free...
@@Pravindaswani74 they re there just for the music...for the love and joy of it...no fake bullshit...no show business no image, marketing or star posing or anything like that...just music freaks givin us a very good time...but much probably having more fun than we do..
John Zorn's facial expression with his mouth open and his tongue stuck to one side of his mouth is a funny look for such a young man. It's an expression that I think would look more natural on the face of a fat, old filmmaker directing a crucial scene in the second act, maybe Alfred Hitchock.

The most important composer of the last 40 or 50 years. John Zorn is THE MAN. I'm truly a believer and He is my own prophet.
Muy buenos, felicidades

Ribot's solo in "kisofim" might be his best, at least that I've ever heard. Open to other recommendations.
Has anyone ever seen Zorn dress up? Feel like he'd wear yellow camouflage pants to his own wedding 😅
The last one made me think of Arvo Pärt, does anyone know if there is any connection?
As an Arvo Pärt fan of many years I agree. I would say Zorn definitely listens to him!
wea que no la tenía en la playlist y salió sola la wea

They are called Udu drums.

what's the percussion instrument that's really loud in my left ear?
FFS! this is MUSIC...
...slave to the algorythm...
Rokhev is missing.
Think Baptista is a little off a lot of places here... :/
+richidpraah ....the improvisation is not always metrically driven... master Cyro has impeccable meter.....
you´re a little off...lol...the proposition you just made is impossible...its like sayin the sun is blue...lol
Yes,he might be..but most things here are improvised even tho it's already written beforehand.
Polyrhythms?
