The Isles played a terrific game and this is why I can’t watch games live! This was the first game I watched from the drop of the puck until the end of the game so I committed myself to agony, once again. (I thought I had learned my lesson at 52 years old) Seattle’s goalie played excellent, Sorokin played excellent and I have no idea how that tying goal 🥅 was scored. Ilya played it perfectly. Also, with this goalie interference thing? This is nothing new when it comes to the NHL. We had this same exact issue in the 90s & we got to the point that player’s skates weren’t allowed in crease, period. I thought it was a good goal, but then again, we’re right back to not knowing what goalie interference is? So the NHL needs to fix this ASAP or we’re going to be right back to where we were 27-28 years ago. Great show
Thanks, Ken. Yeah, the not being able to even enter the crease was too far in the other direction. Now, it's too open to interpretation. I think they were not going to overturn whatever decision was made by the referees on the ice. But you're right, we don't know what the rule actually is now. Thanks for the comment and LGI.
I am very encouraged by the way the Islanders are playing. It's great to see Pierre Engvall performing so well! I have to say I agree with everything you mentioned today. It looks like Ilya Sorokin has regained his old form. I'm really looking forward to the Calgary game tomorrow night! Thank you again, Gil, for all you do to keep us Islanders fans up to date with the most current Islanders information. LGI
My take on that goaltender interference non-call is this, I do understand why it stood and honestly not sure if I would have challenged it. But I do believe without a doubt that Sorokin would have made that save 100 times over if he hadn’t been bumped. And if you believe that, then it has to be overturned. And oh yeah, easy birthday Gil😂
It was a tough call to make. That's why ultimately, I thought the call on the ice would stand, they wouldn't overturn it on replay. Thanks for the comment, Fran. LGI. Love the logic.
Clutter! I still remember the day a co-worker told me they just traded Niederiter for Clutterbuck. I said who? We all found out didn’t we, how nice would it be to see a young, in his prime, guy like Cal on this team now? I agree Gil, until it is no longer effective, stick with the style of play that gets them points, sprinkle in a little Barzy magic and they could be playing deep into the spring. Did you see any of the Never Say Die Podcast this past Saturday Gil? Those guys don’t sugar coat anything, which is okay, but they still give little credit for the current point accumulation despite all the injuries.
Got to give credit where credit it due. I try to be a straight shooter and give them praise when they've earned it and criticism when they deserve it. The Clutterbuck trade was won by the Isles by a mile. Nino is a decent player, but Clutterbuck gave the Isles more than a decade of tone setting play and leadership. Thanks for the comment, Thomas. LGI.
Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? They played a solid game, and they lost. They were robbed on a call again. The Islanders have looked a little better in recent games. They looked good in the face off circle. Isiah George got some of his 🧊 cut. Hero Pierre Engvall. 🐐 replay officials for being biased. The Islanders need to KISS. They also need to get mad, too. They're in Calgary tomorrow. Pierre Engvall finally got the message that Patrick Roy's been sending him. HAPPY 🎂, CAL CLUTTERBUCK. He was a physical player who could also put the puck in the net. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS
If they play the way they did on Saturday, they'll win more than they lose. It's been good to see Engvall doing well. They need more from the 4th line, but the 3rd line is playing better. Always liked Clutter, he had a great career with the Isles. Thanks for the comment, Cindy. LGI.
Definitely not robbed. This team can't seem to figure out a winning formula. After playing a solid hockey game you would think 2 - 1 would get it done in this hockey game. Nope, they give up a grade A chance a minute right after that ties the game. Then they play a not to lose style game and lose. Same old Islanders. They still can not close out a hockey game. They only have 4 regulation wins. The cream is starting to rise to the top and the islanders are not keeping up. Lastly where has Bo Horvat been. He has not had a big game at all lately. He needs to be their best player and he is often invisible.
Gil made a good point today, even when everyone is back healthy, stick to the same style/game plan that has been currently getting this team points. It will probably be boring, like Barry hockey, but if it gets the Islanders to the conference finals or farther it will be fine by me.
It's just confounding how they dismantled Vancouver and lost to the newest team that apparently owns us, the Seattle Kraken. I think the isle have beaten this mid ass team once. I know they have bad luck with calls butb they blew some easy games early this year when they were healthier and because they didn't win these winnable games they now have to put a strak together. This losing leads and turtling at the end of games HAS to change or I'm just going to wait for the highlights. Its gotten to the point where when the Isles have a lead in the final ten minutes I expect the game to go to OT at best. At least they've potted a few ENGs this year. Should have been another OT game.
The lack of formula is there, but the injuries make it even harder. Of course, they weren't scoring enough before the injuries hit. Horvat does need to play better. He misses Barzy for sure. We know this team is not an elite contender even when healthy. They can keep things close by playing simple, smart, hockey. Thanks for the comment, Ragehockey23. LGI
Good morning team! Gil, the game with Seattle was definitely disappointing. In my opinion, I would have called goalie interference. The rule is on this is pretty clear. Having said that, I have seen more flagrant interference challenged and the goal was not taken away. I'm all for holding refs accountable for sure. Just call the game the way the rules are written and the game versus the Oilers would have never went to OT. The puck bounced against us in both situations, but the Islanders have also been on the benefit end of receiving breaks as well, and it will continue to happen. Let's just forget about it and concentrate on the game with the Flames tomorrow. Coming home with 5 points on this road trip would be nice, but coming away with 7 would be so much better. Everyone, have a great day today! See you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!
Seven points on this road trips with all these injuries would be a great accomplishment. I hope the bounces even out by the end of the season. The bottom line is, you need to play better and then you don't need the bounces. Thanks for the comment, Tony. LGI.
Sadly, the game was blacked out here and I was unable to watch it. I think that you shouldn't count on the refs to win. The Isles consistently are not scoring enough goals.
Agreed, you can't count of the refs and 2 goals is not enough to win most games. Scoring won't be easy with all these players out of the lineup, but then again, they weren't scoring enough before the injuries either. Thanks for the comment, Eric. LGI
Not a bad game, i dont feel it was interference at all, i expecting a loss as it seems they never play that great in afternoon games. But good think they are still hanging around, but you know what they say, if you are out of the playoffs come Thanksgiving chances are you wont make the playoffs.
Yeah Robbed, all the draft picks and quality players that were traded, Robbed by Lou Lamarillo, he has Robbed us of a chance to win the Championship thanks Lou 😢
was not goaltender interference..soroknin needs to make that save....I get it he entered paint on his own volition, and made some minor contact with goalie...but be serious...did not interfere with the save...it just didn't...and nelson can't be out there playing goalie five feet in front of Sorokin...and what the hell was Mayfield doing on the second goal...how about we have a lead in the third and a regulation win instead of hanging on or trying to hang on for a regulation tie ....great game otherwise...very entertaining. can't win em all
So frustrating to see them give up a goal right after they score one in the 3rd period to take the lead. This team makes a habit of that. It was a close call on the goalie interference and I can see both sides of it. They were going to stick with the call on the ice. Thanks for the comment, foleydvm. LGI
NO isles were not robbed. As usual they couldn't hold a third period lead and got no balanced scoring. That seems to be the theme of this team. Plus 30 didn't have his best game just showing how thin the isles margin to win is. Probably another lead to blow vs. flames and another loser pt. on the way, the typical 1-1-2 trip as predicted.
We were hoping for 5 points on a five game road trip. They have 3 already with 2 games left. Let's see if they can get it done. The problem is that they do give up goals after scoring them far too often. Thanks for the comment, Steven. LGI
Yeah im not to upset with the no call on interference. As long as that's the way the league calls it consistently. It was very ticky tacky. I dont wanna see the league go down that road and start calling back all kinds of goals for very slight contact. But it's gotta be consistent and called the same both ways.

@@LockedOnIslanders It’s your birthday? Happy Birthday brother!
Yes, they were robbed in Edmonton and Seattle. That McTrip on Dobson was flagrant, and the bump on Sorokin wasn't the first on that shift.
That one was a missed call. If it wasn't McDavid, it may have been called. Thanks for the comment, Bob. LGI
