Have you tried double knitting? Which method of holding the yarn works best for you? I never could get the hang of using both hands!
I have watched several double knitting videos, and kept messing it up. Your video helped me finally understand the process!! Thank you!!!!
I'm glad it helped! 😀Thank you for taking the time to comment.
If the movements weren't so fiddly it'd be easier to follow along, but you got the point across still! Thank you! I'll try to learn double knit thanks to you.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! ❤️
This is oddly meditative, watching someone knit. I honestly have no idea what you are doing (non knitter here!) but it looks very neat.
Doing it is even more meditative than watching it. :) It's one of the things I love about knitting and crochet. Pulls me out of my head for a while.
Do you have a video on how to read the double knit pattern and how it works?
Hi, Maria! I don't have a video like that but I have added your suggestion to my list of video ideas. Thank you for taking the time to comment. 😊
Do you have to cast Don twice as many stitches that your pattern calls for? It seems like if you’re doing a knit and pearl that that would be the case. I’m trying to follow in it along with Arnie and Carlos for the corona quarantine and I’m having a hard time doing color work for the first time. I think double knitting will be the easiest for me
Hi, Suzie! If the pattern you are doing is written for two-strand color work that is not double knitting, then yes, you would need to cast on twice the stitches, half in one color and half in the other, alternating on the needles.
Here's an example of a cast on for double knitting, but there are lots of methods. (ua-cam.com/video/8l_ppI0X5q8/v-deo.html)
Double knitting is essentially working two pieces of flat fabric at once, with the wrong sides of the two pieces facing each other on the inside of the piece. It's twice as thick as a normal flat-work project. The right sides (the sides facing outward) will be reverse images of each other, meaning in the piece I'm doing in the video, one side will have gray as the background color and the other side will have red as the background color. Does this help? Let me know if you have more questions and I'll try to answer them!
