Thanks for the re-run, and thanks for admitting that the reindeer mousepad takes FOREVER, even for you! Keeping it real, as always 😊❤
Arne and Carlos thank you so much for this double knitting video. The Reindeer is beautiful. Praying for your continued recovery
Hello
So nice of you to supply us with a tutorial. Enjoy yourselves!
Glad to see you both happy and rested, enjoying the reruns and the beautiful scenery. Your Beetle looks happy too.
Wow! I had never seen double knitting! Very complicated, but I’m glad I understand it a bit better. Many thanks!
You are welcome!
I've seen so many videos trying to explain how to do this and always get frustrated, but this video was very clear and showed how easy it really is (though time consuming), thank you!
You are welcome!
So happy you both are back with us. Looking forward to try the double knitting.
Every week you both look healthier and relaxed ! Thanks for the tutorial, enjoy your holiday !
Loved seeing the pictures of where you are vacationing - beautiful. Thanks for the double knitting lesson!
Carlos thank you for teaching me how to Double Knit and locking my stitches in. Vickie G from USA

Great video! I'm inspired to jump in and try double knitting now. Everything looks so easy when you guys show us how to do it. Thank you so much! Please continue with all your videos and show us some of the places you are at, they are beautiful!
Reindeer is so beautiful. ❤️
Nice to see both of you happy and healthy again. Enjoy your time vacationing!
lovely tease at the end..I can't wait to see more of your adventures...!
Thank you for the rerun. I will try it next winter, pot holders I think. Have a great vacation and be well 🌸
Beautiful scenery... I don't know why I still haven't tried double knitting but it's on my list of new techniques to learn in 2020.. busy making masks and learning quilting this summer.
I have viewed a number of cast on methods for double knitting and I have to say that your method makes the most sense to me. Thanks
Thank you Johnnie!
@@ARNECARLOS I see you slip the first two stitches, what about the last two. Usually when I slip the first stitch, I purl the last in a row. does that apply her as well? In addition, do you crochet around? Johnnie
Super to see you as always.Lofoten looks beautiful, enjoy 😁 💜🌷💚
The cooler weather sounds heavenly! Best wishes for your time there!
Just love you guys! So so glad you're well and would love to see your travels!😎
I love you guys. You always make it look so easy! ♥️🧶🧣🧤
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 enjoy your channel! Stay safe...

Beautiful episode. Thanks !
I adored this episode in Nov 2023 and an excited to practice double knitting!
Such a gorgeous country you live in!!!!🥰🐶🌺

Hello, I enjoyed the tutorial, but even more so I enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Thanks. Keep well and be safe, Virginia in Ohio
You look great..going back in time😂..love the tips
Fascinating, it will be a while before I can even think about tackling that. But, Thanks for sharing always enjoyable 👍❤️😊
You look great. Hope you feel well too. Thank you for sharing. Now I need to start yet another project to try this technique
Hello Gentleman. It’s always a pleasure to see you two.... glad both of u are having a great time in the Land of the Midnight 🌞! Double knitting for me is an exercise in patience! One that I want to master .... so I can count it as a skill in my arsenal of knitting skills. It’s hard.... but I keep trying.!
Lofotun is my next must do!! I’d love a reindeer pillow in red and cream for Christmas. I am so glad that I knit like Arne and it will only take 6 months instead of a year. Patiently awaiting further episodes.
You guys are so fantastic. 👍🏻👍🏻
❤️😊
As always, very enjoyable and inspiring and I envy your summer vacation location, it’s so beautiful!!!
So nice to see you both again with a new intro video. I watched all the way to the end with your travelogue and snappy music. Seems a bit tricky.... this double knitting....but I hope to try it one day. Be well...love you both! 😊
I want to go crazy :D Beautiful, such an impressive technique, and you guys show it so well and in a way that's easy to understand for the rest of us :) Hope you have a great summer!
Wow but 😇 for me,need lot of patience . Wonderful work, thanks for sharing
Great tutorial. You give me the courage to try double knitting :)
Summer!!😄😄😄
That project would make great Christmas table placemats. Thank you!
You are welcome!
You're looking good, gentlemen! The DK video is the very first video I every saw--how I discovered you!
You both look so relaxed and well there on the Lofoten Islands. Stay safe and enjoy yourselves. x
Thank you guys, liked the lesson!
Great idea to re-run topics ! The show must go on, but not give you stress even if you always are so kind to think of your folowers.
You already made more topics than usual for a whole year, I think.
You both look great, even if it looks like you have lost weight ?
What nice 24-hour-sun tan !
I wished I could go to Lofoten some day. It must be quite special .
Enjoyed your knitting video! Thank you. Have a fab holiday up there in the land of the midnight sun!
I really enjoyed this video. I am going to try double knitting after I finish my current project. I also love seeing you guys being able to wear jackets... I'm so jealous! It has been 100 degrees here in central Texas today.
Jennifer Taylor, I know what you mean about the heat.....I live in Southeast Texas.🥵
That was wonderful boys, thank you. I’ve never seen that episode and I thought I’d binge watched all of them. Norway 🇳🇴 is on my bucket list ( I very much doubt that I’ll ever get there) so I can’t wait for your travel updates. If you’re still filming it could you please show us round your yarn stores. Have a relaxing time and thank you for taking time out to speak to us. Keep safe and healthy boys xxxx
I would love to be anywhere with snow right now-it’s 92 deg Fahrenheit in North Carolina. Thank you for your vacation updates!
Aggie Rowe I agree! I’m also in North Carolina
NC summers are just nasty with the humidity!
I learned to double-knit when I was a kid ... in the late 70’s. A few years ago, I developed a faster and less complicated way to do it (I call it The Cannon Method) where yarning forward and back isn’t necessary... perfect for doing sleeves and cuffs. I’ve experimented with ribbing and cabling and all-sorts. However, I am most certainly going to give Arne’s style a try in the near future. I am a thrower, (I just found out last night during an early episode of FruityKnitting that I also knit in the style of Shetland Knitters - they use a belt, I have red poke marks on my ribs where I hold my needle tip! HA!)
Watching Carlos doing this method reminded me as to why I delved into finding a faster way, and had a chuckle over that.
I will come back to this comment later to let you know how I did with Arne’s instruction.
Also, since knitting and purling happen in row 1, I suggest long tail casting where one colour goes on as a knit stitch, and the other colour gets put on as a purl stitch - eliminating the need to keep adjusting the four strands... knot the two colours, then from thumb to forefinger knit a cast on, then from forefinger to thumb purl a cast on. Just make certain since your cast on counts as a row, that row 2 you are knitting the purled and purling the knitted in the correct order.
Thank you for the upload!

Alright..... I’m sold. I’m sold on Norwegian for slip stitching, and purling with ribbing is wonderful. With double knit, my tension is better than throwing two colours. So..... well, perhaps I should have spent more tome getting better at Norwegian knitting before venturing into something more challenging, but, in a way, the more challenging made it easier for me. Go figure!
Wonderful. you are good explainers. thanks and greetings from Australia.
Thank you Elvira!
Thank you. I would love to make a double-knitting piece but don’t know that i would have the time. I’m. Dry tempted though. Enjoy your vacation. I know I’m enjoying the snippets being shown. Thanks from Australia 🐨🐨🦘🦘
I was so amazed by this technique, when we did double knitting it simply meant using 8ply yarn. Patterns are still called for double knitting wool. I'm excited to have a go at this, after I ever complete a pair of socks.
Thanks for the tutorial on double knitting. I am wondering combining the squares. Thanks again fun place sun sun and more sun you both look like sun bathers .... minimal vitamin D issues, I bet. Beautiful deer!
Yes!
I'm going to make a double-knit, fair isle tea cozy! Very warm for the teapot.
That will be nice
Lovely video as always! I think the reindeer would make a lovely Christmas placemat. Takk!
Wow, thank you!
Love to see some more of Lofhoten😍
I tried double knit for the first time. ( just a potholder) very slow going but a really good test for my old brain. Not a hobby to do while watching TV, for sure! Love your videos and tutorials.
Double knitting requires concentration😊
You are blessed to live in divine Norge. Hi Tom, Astrid, Hanne and Henrik. .
Love double knitting. Carlos, just noticed that when you purl, you are putting the yarn clock-wise around the needle. I was taught that yarn whether knitting or pulling is always counter-clockwise...
😀
Wow. Good catch. I use the Easter/ Russian purl myself then I knit in the back loop on the reverse. I haven’t done this in double knitting
Glad to see you looking so well and back to your old selves. As I was watching and listening to the explanation of the double knitting I recalled my mother double knitting the edge of the ribbing of a sweater. She would knit a few rows and the she would remove the cast on stitches. The result was a rounded finish to the edge and very elastic. She would knit the rest normally. She is no longer with us so oI can not ask her exactly how she did it. Have you ever come across this technique?
That sounds like a tubular cast on technique using waste yarn to start. It's a beautiful way to start ribbing.
I love you guys
Tejido doble yeeees!😄😄✌👍
I like it and I need to lern more please thank you very much
You are welcome!
So happy to see your videos. Thank you for sharing your adventures and skills. Is the reindeer pattern available? I am going to learn double knitting next. I will start with potholder and then work on the reindeer, it’s very beautiful. Thank you both!
This is great, thank you for sharing! Have you ever seen a double-knitted sock pattern? I'd be interested in trying that (it gets pretty cold in Canada, too, lol).
Glad to see you both looking so well! Very jealous of your vacation.
Love you.
most the videos I have watched had me moving both yarns back and forth, which made not only for a lot of twisted yarn coming from the skeins, but also strange floats across the knits. Moving the unused strand, then purling underneath cured both problems!
Thanks for stopping by for a quick visit during your holiday. Lovely holiday spot!
I have double knitting on my 'try this' list, and your video will be the tutorial that I follow. I am also curious to see if I can crochet this way. Have you tried to use this technique in crochet Arne?
Hi Arne and Carlos. So Good to see you both. Looking Good. The Scenery is beautiful. Thank you. Oh, Arne Love you hat!!! What size DPNs is Arne using? Love the musical chair moves. Thank you for showing the double knitting. I know I will have to play it again.
Namastey 🙏🙏to both of you 🇮🇳
Good to see this demonstrated; now, I have to figure out if I can apply it to a pattern (like a Moss Stitch square) requiring you to double two colors when I'd rather have one color each side. Thank you.
You are welcome!
great
I would be so confused I would never get anything finished, but, I love it...
Can you share the pattern for the forever reindeer pattern? It is beautiful! Love your tutorials.
I did a lot of double knitting and was always frustrated with the edges, tried so many ways, yours of slipping the first two stitches looks good, will try on next project.
We hope you will like the result.
I am thrilled to hear from you, many thanks @@ARNECARLOS
Hope you guys are having a great vacation. ⛰🚣🥂☀️
I love double knitting too!! Are you going to sell your Reindeer pattern? It is so pretty!! Thank you so much for this it was fun to watch!
I forgot to ask what yarn weight are you using for blanket square and coaster? Worsted or DK? Do you find that when you are doing small project and medium square, it is easier to DPNs? Thank you for answering my questions. I want to learn this technique. Thank you so much.
💜
I read somewhere that there was a "Scandinavian tradition" of women knitting a ring into the finger of their husbands' gloves. Have either of you ever heard of this?
Very nice video. You take the 2 first sticthes purl off. I can't se how you knit the two last stitches on the row and how you start the next row? Can someone maybe tell me?
Beautiful country side. I would love to get the pattern for the deer mouse pad. Is it on your website?
I found double knitting not long ago, thanks to IG reels😅 didn't know it existed that kind of knitting. How do you start the first 2st for cast on? Slip-knot?
😊😊😊
Hot here in Texas too. 105 to 110 forecast for today.
💚
Thank you
🥰
I want to knit the coaster you are holding at the 3:57 mark but I can't find the pattern for it. I did look through your shop, but couldn't find it. Could you tell me where I can buy the pattern please? I would do the checkerboard first, but I'd also like the pattern for the lovely "X" coaster too. Thank you for your very helpful video!
It might be in the blog post that is related to this video. You will find it on our website
Question: Arne, is there a video to show how you first cast on the very first stitch so as to do the alternating italian cast on? I dont understand How does it secured the edge, if you dont knit, but slip the first two stitch? Do you slip the last two stitches at the end of the row also?
Here is a link to our cast on tutorials. ua-cam.com/play/PLElv_tSbHW3rwK8GSfGtRqUtOJJ14A9tp.html&si=CQbmsLDTHGrwDSOi
when I finish one row, do I need to slip the last two also or knit them?
Thank you for the tutorial...It looks difficult..
I lovethe reindeer . Is the pattern available?
Re-watching this video now that I'm a picker I have no idea how I ever lived this way
Question... I have an issue with my inside purl bumps showing through but only when I use a norwegian purl (ergonomic purl stitch) on the reverse side color. Is there something I am missing?
Could you make a video on how to do 2-pattern double knitting? I have few problems with the concept itself.
What I need help with is the floaters. They loop out of the face of the piece. Even with floaters that are only 6 stitches long
How tight is too tight to pull them?
I have a project that I'm working on now that has floaters that are up to 18 stitches long.
I worried about them protruding from the work
Fantastic video! Thank you. Can you please share the name of the reindeer pattern? I do not see it on your website or Ravelry. Thank you.
Hi Jenny, it is not available at the moment.
@@ARNECARLOSlol..that is not enough information...is it your and I should be excited to see it in the near future or does it belong to someone else? I own a yarn store and would love to teach it as a more advanced piece... and of course give credit where it is due. J
