Hey folks! Although the new Atlas 44-tonner is EXACTLY the same as the MTH version, here's a link to my review of the MTH 44-tonner from 2017. ua-cam.com/video/q9Fvwn9-eJU/v-deo.html
Love the 'rattling diesel " sound. And the 2nd voice is a riot! I can just picture him. The recycling guys must roll their eyes every time they stop at your house!
I have a full recycling bin most weeks lol
You know it’s gonna be a good review when Eric has boxes piled up on top of each other. Especially when it comes from atlas. 😂 great review Eric!
Thanks!
@@Ericstrains no problem! :D
You could always do a train wreck scene, take s smaller used car and roll it up some and stick it under a coal car from a unit train, I saw a Ford Pinto, in 1988, rolled up & wedged under a coal car and the train stopped in the middle of a grade crossing, it was a cool extrication and amazingly the man walked out of the ER with just scratches.
How cool is that, I made & posted the above comments before you opened the coal car and it was a NS coal train that had the car wedged under it and they had a lot of older N&W cars still in service back then.
Watching this 2 days after hitting the absolute jackpot at a train show. F in the chat for my wallet.
Well done, cheers, and keep up the good work!
-Michael
On the cars and such, you can go to loves, pilot, flying j,ta or petro truck stops and can get those as well. They also sell 1:48 scale semi trucks.
Wow.! Lots of goodies
Awesome
an idea is to make a portion on your layout with a forest being harvested easy project take twigs from out side cut to length with nursery prunners and make piles to utilize your new articulated loader with clam. also you can purchase lot of John deere brand die cast at John deer dealerships particularly the locations that typically sell agricultural equipment lots of very well made and unique die cast items hope helps your journey with your layout take care
I am going to start collecting Atlas more ,i like the quality. The sound system sounds pretty good too.
I enjoy all of your videos. But my OCD kicks in big time when you set boxes on the layout - I keep watching for the crossbucks, signal shed, or signal bridge to meet a disastrous end. :-) Thanks for the train entertainment.
Ha!
Eric walks on the wild side. His codename is Mr Dangerous
Great to be online on your side and to look at you during this unboxing.
nice addition to your collection congratulations
Your model railway is famous all the way over here in the UK, The Bell Pub in Fetcham Surrey to be precise.. I was In there for lunch today and two guys were talking about your layout..
Wow, that's really cool. Thanks!
You should make a train derailment set on your layout. Like an old engine with derail frieght cars, you should even make them look dismantled
Great video Eric! I bought some die-cast vehicles to compliment my trains, next thing I know, I have created another hobby. 😄
I like the radio communication system in there with a complete conversation between the parties
I had something similar with my Reading T1 Rambles #2100 having a little scratch and I went to find the right paint for it, I have posted it on OGR if you are interested in seeing how it came out.
Hello Eric, that lumber 1/50 volvo use to empty log trucks or train log cars at lumber yard
Awesome unboxing video!! I love Atlas’ GE 44 Tonner!
Thanks!
Eric - love that conrail mill gondola. Nice additions. I may need to order some atlas vehicles for my new town. Thanks for sharing!
Great news items. I especially like the CNW. Left handed railroad needs to be represented
I’ m a new viewer and just found your video while recovering from surgery. Great fun watching your unboxing. One question for you: at the beginning of the video you have the boxes on your layout next to a signal bridge spanning 3 tracks. I really want one of those! Is that one hand built or available from a manufacturer?
It’s made by K&R custom signals
That switcher is so cool!
Yep!
Nice wagon mpravo from Greece ❤❤❤
Always enjoy your videos, they're informative, entertaining and well worth my time. Thanks for sharing.
That 4014 big boy pulling those Union Pacific absolutely beautiful heavyweight cars is some video how many heavyweight car train sets do you have passenger obviously
Thanks Eric......always enjoyable to view your shows.
Thanks for watching!
Love the 44 tonner especially with the crew talk dialogue - something I wish Lionel would expand on with their Legacy models
Nice!
If manufacturing naturally seeks out low cost - then the United States is toast.
That 44 tonner sounds really good!
@Eric's Trains, if the Atlas box is labeled "Premier Rolling Stock" then it will be ex-MTH Premier toiling.
Wow adding awesome rolling stock great budget cars & locomotive
LOVE THE TONERS :)
Those mill gondolas are indeed huge...I have five of them. For giggles, I took one of those low-slung RailKing gondolas and sat it inside one. It literally swallowed the smaller gon :D
Ha I did the same thing
After seeing that 44 toner I realized I’m going to need one for my soon to be completed HO scale layout!
Hey Eric - just for clarity EU O scale is mostly 1:45 (and in UK is 1:43.5) It’s nearly impossible finding exact scale cars here.
So cool love that
I would really like to know the pulling power of that 44-tonner. It weighs almost 3 pounds and has two motors so it should be a good puller.
It has right at 1 pound of pulling power, exactly like the MTH version had. ua-cam.com/video/q9Fvwn9-eJU/v-deo.html
I was wondering the same thing.
I know that this isn’t the exact mathematical solution for this, but that means that it has a pulling power-to-weight ratio of .5lbs:1.5lbs (both the weight and pulling power was divided by 2 because of the two motors).
As always. Excellent review and high quality production.
If I missed it, I apologize but do you operate these locomotives in conventional or command mode for these videos?
If command, would you consider going through the process of showing how the locomotive is loaded into your Lionel or MTH command system as part of your review? It might be a nice addition to the already stellar review that you provide us.
Thanks for considering the thought and thanks again for the great review!
Yes please! I'm always curious about whether or how MTH trains work with Lionel's command system.
Yes
Oh I love the switchers and dang man house much do you spend
Great review Eric, Now I need one of those for my SF collection. 😀
Cool!
Looks like Christmas every month of the year at your house......😜
Hola buenas tardes excelente video miy bueno los modelos abrazo grande
Cool.
Awesome!
That Lionel C&NW NE-5 caboose is a model of the cabooses C&NW picked up when it acquired the Chicago Great Western Ry, (CGW) back in the 1960s. Hence, the CGW marking on the side. You still see them in MOW service on the UP in the Chicago area. Very cool!
Thanks for the info
I was wondering about that. It has C&NW yellow and green, though.
@@georgeadams1853 Illinois Railway Museum has one of these, which was acquired in this yellow and green livery, but was later repainted into the original CGW livery....maroon and orange.
Wow better than. Xmas morning 🚂😎👍
Thanks 👍
That knife reminds me of the emerson knife i just got called the nettle. If you have time check it out, very great utilitarian fixed blade and the owner ernest only made 130 of them. There is still some on the website if your interested
Excellent new cars and love the 44 ton switcher Eric!!!!
Thanks!
@@Ericstrains You're welcome!!
Look at all that!
That little thing got nice cab talk..I hate the horn that MtH made but it's not all that bad tho you can always download a new horn sound in them..I'll have to look into this Atlas stuff..
when you weather the box cars please do another tutorial on it
1/43 scale is at Euroup, Asia, and the United States
Epic Fun!!!!!!!
Oh wow, nice!
Thanks!
Great video
Why is the gondola a 2 tone?
Great. What are you getting from the lionel 2022 catalog?
I posted my order yesterday on this channel's community board. I'll be doing a video as well. ua-cam.com/users/Ericstrainscommunity
Oh man lol this is cool!
How the heck do you manage to unbox all that stuff on your layout without destroying it?????
very carefully
My Santa Fe SD70ACE does not smoke. When I blow into the grill smoke comes out the cab windows. Did I get a lemon
Do you know if atlas is continuing the Railking line of products?
They not "continuing" any of the MTH product lines. Any toolings they bought are being integrated in their own product lines. So far Lionel had made more use of ex-MTH RailKing models. Atlas mainly seems have to acquired only full scale models from MTH.
10:45 I have that exact same Milwaukee boxcar, right down to the road number. Mine came from RPO Trains at the 10.2021 York show, but didn't have a box. When I saw it being unboxed here I was hoping to spot a product number from your box, but I see it probably doesn't have one, just the car number and "#2". I was only able to identify this as a Petersen Supply custom run thanks to an Ebay listing. I guess I'll just have to document it in my inventory that way.
I also acquired a CP Rail 50-footer in the same shade of yellow that I suspect is also a Petersen custom run, but cannot find any photos of one online. I posted photos of these on the OGR forum under the thread title "Weaver items purchased at York". I was originally going to have them repainted in the fictional _BeamNG: Drive_ scheme from the game of the same name, but decided to leave them as-is owing to their origins.
Cool!
GREAT VÍDEO!!
still bugs me that now lionel stuff is made in vietnam but the price hasn't lowered. stuff made overseas and imported in ends up saving them money, that's why companies do it, so them still charging "made in usa" prices for everything just feels wrong
Eric, How do you get the shell off to repair the loose window?? I have a similar issue with my MTH 44 ton and I cannot locate the screws to remove the the body shell.....If you can show us how this is done it would be most helpful Thank You Frank
The screws are on the underside
Should have said “Good Morning Vietnam” lmao
Thanks for sharing ♐ ♐♐♐♐♐♐♐♐♐
Thanks for watching
Do you think Lionel will ever re-engineer the smoke units in the cabooses (fan driven) ?
Who knows. Maybe?
I gotta say you are absolutely missing out on the Golden Gate Depot passenger cars. You should get some.
Already underway
You sure hit the jackpot on how much you got
Thanks, Tom
@@Ericstrains no problem
Hi Eric great video as always can I ask a question has mth gone out-of-business I read somewhere the owner has retired is that true? Thanks for your help in this matter
To make a long story short, no they are not out of business.
Eric, can you run that atlas (mth) switcher with Lionel legacy ? I thought you could not run mth locos. with Lionel equipment. Thanks for posting.
No you can't. You have to run it with MTH DCS
Yes how about that Eric how much pulling power dose it have the 44 switcher?
1 pound
I don't mean to be "that guy", but whatever happened to that Alaska Railroad F7 set review?
How much abouts the vehicle's cost from Atlas?
T Y I have to ask do you save all your boxes
ua-cam.com/video/Rxdaiq97rVg/v-deo.html
Thanks for sharing, really like that Gondola, how long is that car ?
A little over 16 inches
Have you ever considered offering your skills and talents as service you have a amazing talent and think you would be very successful and your channel would be excellent sales tool and advantage to recruit any help also
I've thought about it, but honestly I don't have the time to do that.
What is CA glue Eric?
superglue, basically
what's size in comparison are hot wheels brand in relation to the cars you purchased
hot wheels are much smaller
Hot Wheels (and Matchbox, for that matter) are around 1:64, basically suited for S gauge layouts.
If it is made in Vietnam I can do without it! As a Vietnam Vet that lost and arm and a leg there I can not support their country. Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone it is just me and I believe if we can not make it in AMERICA I don't need it
The Chicago caboose looks cheap made
It sort of it, but that's on purpose. It's part of a series of cars they make that are O-scale but more affordable...so there's less fine detail than one of their more expensive cabooses.
Um, real train tracks have no rail in the middle. Just Sayin,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Made in CHINA. And they still want $449.00.??? WHAT.???
Stay away from this hobby.!!!
A footnote: Vietnamese and Chinese are not friends. China ruled Vietnam for 1,000 years and that left a bad taste. Likely the Vietnamese are doing their own venture capitalism. A few years ago the Vietnamese opened a factory in the Allentown PA area. No Chinese involved.
That may be true, but the fact is that some of the factories in Vietnam and owned by Chinese manufacturing companies.
@@Ericstrains My understanding is the Chinese factories are new to Vietnam at present to avoid the Tariffs that were imposed upon China a few years ago. However, back in 2014 Vietnamese demonstrated their disapproval of the Chinese in the form of demonstrations. Recall they had a shooting war in 1978 and again in 1988. Anyway, I do not want to get into politic as you run a very good presentation on trains. Thank you for your attention. Mark
!/50th is France 0, !/43 The UK and German

So they are manufactured using low payed workers and they still have price of $109.00.
LOL. Somebody is making a lot of money here.
