This feels like that one moment where you've been waiting for something your entire life and it finally happens but it's 100x better than you expected
Awesome! Thank you @Ultra-beam Roblox!
@@RBPTrains your welcome! I have a UA-cam channel under the same name so check it out if you want! I only started a few months ago!
Yasssss
11:36 I’m pretty sure Rio Grande is very excited and proud to lead this behemoth of a train
Your channel is really great to watch and appreciate all the work you put into each video. This one, was amazing! All the camera work with history lesson on each engine is mind blowing. I love watching these videos, and I hope your channel grows and grows! I really appreciate these vids... great stuff.
Thank you very much for your support Emil! Truly appreciate it.
Last week, I got to meet the photographer who took the picture of all 6 when they were new and all lined up on the leg of the y in Salt Lake City in 2012. He was Lee Witten, and I met him at the Hostlers Model Railroad Museum.
I have a calender and the pic on the cover is of all of them up in Ogden with diesel #8444
Great video Chris. My favorite unit is the Katy..love that paint scheme. Also the 6 unit lashup was fun to see; but I enjoyed seeing the individual units pull their own trains. Hope to see you at York..
I should be there Friday so hope to see you James!
If you ever get the chance, you should ride or walk the Katy Trail. The Katy Trail was turned into a walking/biking trail after the railroad stopped using it. The Katy Trail ran through the town I grew up in, and it was always fun riding it. Also always nice to learn about its history and the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. Many towns the trail runs through have railroad museums with information about the MKT.
I’m British, I have almost no knowledge on American railways but these are cool as hell.
Hope your channel continues to grow. I'm a G scale guy but I still have my lionel sets.
You should think about making some kids videos too. Try and inspire the next generation to tell dad to go buy them a set.
Totally agree!
We need more people getting into the hobby.
Great idea! I actually get quite a few emails from parents who are getting sets for their children so it has been very inspiring to watch so many start in the hobby. I have done a few starter set videos and plan to do more so thank you for this suggestion @Cannon Country!
Seeing your controls brings back memories. My neighbor was a huge Lionel collector. He laid well over a mile of track on his property, including tunnels, above waterfalls. He sadly passed away before his design of running track to the roof was completed. Gradual slope throughout the property was as far as he got with it. You'd have to be asked by him to come see it. If you're a good kid, he'll let you check it out. Not sure what happened to his trains, but man they're beautiful!!!! Love Lionels
Thanks for sharing this memory @Life in Tornado alley
I've been fortunate enough to see three of the prototypes out on the the Southern Pacific heritage scheme, the Denver and Rio grande heritage scheme, and the Chicago northwestern heritage scheme they're really something to see in real life 👍👍
Nice! Hope to see them one day
It's always a good day when RBP uploads.
Now you’ve got to get all the NS heritage units.
Awesome job Chris, that was a real mega train! We spend so much time running big steam it's easy to forget how much fun running big diesel is too. And when it comes to collecting, diesel is often a fraction of what a steam engine costs. What's even more exciting is that these steel giants are frequently seen running up and down the track of our very own towns! Thanks again for bringing all of these trains from your house to ours!
Thanks Jason! Hope you all are well
Great video Chris. I picked up 1/2 of them. Looks like I have to get the KATY
Wow those engines look AMAZING! I’m glad you got some more diesels
You capture the fun and amazement we feel with these trains so well. My complements. Especially like that rio grande diesel. Cant wait to run and photograph engines on my new trainboard. I know your videos are time consuming. Just hope I can approach your very polished presentations. Gary
Thanks Gary and enjoy your new train board! All I have is an iPhone and an old Handycam. If I can do it, anyone can!!
What a treat to see the Heritage Units, all 6 of 'em, run on the layout. Thanks for sharing. I actually saw a couple of them out in the wild when I was riding Amtrak some time ago. One was the Katy, I believe.
Nice! I am hoping to get a chance to see at least one of them one day
What an awesome set of locomotives and a dream lash up. I only have one of the heritage units so far in the MoPac livery, but look forward to collecting the other 5. Thanks for sharing.
You picked a good one!
I was waiting for something like this
BTW I’ve seen all of the real ones
I call it ACe because the AC is capitalize. If the e was capitalized I would call it ace. Like the same way if the c was lower case. Ex. The SD70Mac.
I thought it was interesting when you showed the power consumption on the Z-4000. I think you should do that more often. Thanks for the great videos and reviews. I’m learning a lot🚂👍
Thanks Glenn! I will need to show proper power consumption next time VS the silly bit when the transformer was shorting out, haha
That is kind of cool. But I think I'd rather stick with the trains. Cory Mears
@@RBPTrains I love your humor so much. You are hilarious.
Although I've had a love for trains since childhood, I'm primarily a Gundam modeler. I've started to look into the railroad model scene primarily to start into landscape dioramas. Long story short, thanks for "hiding" that MG Gundam in the background of the layout!! Validated some theories, showed me some possibilities, and fueled some inspiration!
Great work Chris, the trains look great my friend! 😀
Brotherman, these engines are awesome!!!! How could only you be so lucky?? Go cat go aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa cool man cool😁😁😄😛🤟🤘👍👍👍👍 Keepem roling DADDY OOOO!!!!! YEA!!! WE LOVE IT BRO!!
My first and only unit I’ve seen out of the 6, I’ve only seen the Rio Grande unit which was literally a month ago. I would love to see the Mopac unit and the Katy cause I’m from Kansas City. Would love to see those two in the future along with a couple others. Would love to see the 1943, and the 1111 unit. I’ve also seen KCS 4006 as well~
Nice! Must have been cool to see that one in real life
Such a geat idea for a video...not many of us can put 6 heritage units on their trainboard. You and we are fortunate to see them run together . Gary
Katy ran through my town, turlock ca, got some pics late may 2024 loved seeing her. loved your vid.
Has anyone noticed how 5 out of 6 of these latest UP Heritage units from Lionel have decals like red/ white ⚠️ warning labels on doors and hatches and decals along the walkways apart from the Western Pacific. The original had them, the Lionel catalog picture does not. Oversight?
Love your videos and watching you run your trains I'm learning a lot 😊
Thanks Alonzo!
Hi Chris, lovely engines. I think the katy engine is very nice looking. I also think the two tone engine is very nice looking. Those are my favorites. I have just gotten a new engine from bigjigs rail heritage collection. It is an Ivatt locomotive that has cylinders on its sides. It is the first one I've ever seen in my life. It is one of the best tank engines I have ever seen and felt. I have also gotten some train cars for the new engine. The cars came with another engine but I don't like it very much. I would give it a 2 or 3 out of 10. I would give the Ivatt locomotive a 10 out of 10×2. I am going to try to get it in red. Hopefully I'll be able to get it quickly. Cory Mears
Hi Chris, I'm from Germany and I'm getting the Rio Grande from Train World this week or next. It's not so easy for me to get to Lionel, I started my system last year. Your channel is really great
Thank you RBP I been waiting for this video for a week. You did an exquisite job on this video. I was looking forward to this. This is my new favorite video
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed and thank you for the support
My favorite SD70ACE is the WP, there all Gorgeous!
I think this is one of your best videos to date! What an incredible collection of diesels, and it’s amazing to see them all running together. Hard to pick a favorite, but other than the Katy, I really like the Rio Grande paint scheme and the Missouri Pacific (beautiful shades of blue). 👍
I was excited when Rio Grande won the vote to lead the train. Really cool scheme and I had not really looked at it prior to this video. Thanks as always my friend!
Chris that was an awesome video, it was cool to see those heritage locos on your layout. I will probably never see the real thing. So it was cool. Thanks for sharing.👍😇👌
I will probably never see the real ones either so I am just as grateful for the models of them. Thank you for watching!
Love how Trainworld is charging over MSRP for the MKT…
Awesome seeing them all together! The daylight just pulls me in!! Another awesome video!!!
Thank you @Sodano Homestead!
Your the man Chris, those locomotives are awesome. Those are some of my favorites.
My favorite is Western Pacific😂🎉🎉❤
I love that collection! All those units look good. I know it's not a true 100% of the real life representation but, it just bugs me that the front and back " bumpers with the steps" move with the wheels and not stationary with the body. But it has to have movement with couplers.
I agree, kind of a bummer it has to be that way. Otherwise they look amazing.
Thanks for watching! I think Lionel engineered them this way to negotiate tighter curves due to the size. O Gauge has all kinds of exceptions, haha!
Chris’ electric bill after this video: 📈📈📈📈📈
Haha!
Excellent video Chris, the collection and layout is impressive. The sound has to mind blowing in there.
Thanks @Joey's Trains! It was LOUD in the room while recording this one
Awesome lashup, Chris! When you get the new Katy fantasy scheme loco, you'll have to do this again to celebrate. What a great video to honour Union Pacific and its heritage roster!
Indeed! I was originally just going to order the Katy Heritage unit to go with the RBP version but then I saw how cool the others looked and thought..."video idea!". Thanks for watching!
Chris I am so happy you mention TRAINWORLD! They are my best hobby store ever! Over 50 years You really need to see the Brooklyn Store. I love the engine you got I’m keep building up my huge military trains this summer I will be working hard to get all my tracks running so I can start doing more videos. It’s hard because of my left hand. You do get me jealous too your a fun guy to watch over all your my best I do watch others but you keep my attention
Thanks Mark! I will be visiting the store later this year when the RBP Katy engines arrive. Can't wait!
@@RBPTrains When they do come in please sign the engine and the box. TRAINWORLD knows i like the item sign.
UP might have an impressive heritage fleet but if you look at all the steam locos and heritage units Norfolk Southern has done, it really gives UP a run for their money. If they still ran all the engines that were at one point part of the NS Steam program, it would be almost 10 engines. If only they could all be together at once!
Excellent video, Chris! It's always exciting to see a new video from you!
It would be really cool to see the other railroads invest and celebrate their history like Union Pacific. You are right about all those engines they could be running! Thanks for watching @Jesse's Trains n' Things!
@@RBPTrains you're most welcome! Thanks for putting up so much great content!
It's 9 amps... at 9.6 volts.
It's a 400 watt transformer; generally that's divided by 2 for 200 x 2 for 2 rails but some provide dual-rail (dual power supply rails... not dual train rails) and it allocates power on demand.))
Either way, you're running a total of 86 watts for the engines.
The smoke units are rated at 1.8 amps peak (again, at 9 volts) so you'd be at almost exactly 100 watts if you ran all of the smoke units.
If you're blowing your power then something else is dramatically wrong.
Hey Tim! I have observed that the Z4000 internal breaker seems to trip around to 10-12amp draw mark. The clip at the beginning was taken when I turned on all 6 smoke units to "high level" at once and then attempted to roll forward. the volt meter dropped from 18 to 9 volts as the short started and then the safety breaker came on. The amps jumped up to 11 before the short happened and then dropped to 9amps which you see in the clip. This makes sense as the Z4000 breaker is only rated at 12amps and I pushed right up against that threshold. Might be due to me overloading that one channel with so much amp draw from the smoke units and the forward motion. I cut the clip for time but perhaps should have provided the seconds leading up to the short when the voltage was showing 18 volts. Was fun to try though and was more for a silly segment for the video! Thanks for watching.
Awesome video, Chris! Every one of those engines are epic! My favorite engine is the Rip Grande, because I'm from Colorado and the color scheme is just so sexy. BTW, how long did it take you to lash up 60 cars? That's dedication. I always love how genuinely excited you are to show us all your latest trains and that amazing layout. Thanks for putting up another highly entertaining video. I know that I, and all of your viewers, appreciate all your efforts. See you in two weeks.
Thank you for watching Tom! I actually tried 80 cars at first but they were hating my S curve and derailing due to the pulling power of the engines so I had to reduce to 60 to get this video done, haha. See ya at York!
@@RBPTrains Should have done a couple as DPU's or pushers
@Musicman. A DPU would probably cause derailments. Unfortunately they're still toys. Can't handle the pushing pressure.
@@walteranderson5090 I've seen DPU's in HO scale consists so it's not a problem. DCC makes it relatively easy to manage. You just can't let the train run on it's own.
So cool! I've been waiting so long for these! I missed the last run. Can't wait for mine to get here! I have a calendar with a picture of all of them with UP #8444 in a yard here in Utah wish lionel would make 8444 in the SD70ACe so I could complete the photo
I was wondering if Lionel would include the 8444 with this run. Did they make that previously?? Probably did but I am being too lazy to Google at the moment :)
@RBP Trains I haven't found a previous run from Lionel, MTH made a premier model of it but then we wouldn't be able to lash it with the rest
i still cant understand why the front plow and side steps pivot out and arnt attached to the frame? must be an O-scale thing! my god are they gorgeous
O Gauge has all kinds of exceptions haha!
We see your trains coming on. But you see 3 houses blow up on the news after you pressed that button. 0:08
Nice video! 👍
hahahaha
@@RBPTrains I know. I’m really funny.
🤨
Mine is the Rio Grande locomotive
The poor kids college fund going to trains. Better go get help now before it to late. Lol
Train Collectors Anonymous
Awesome RBP!
Wow! Ok I am impressed! Like REALLY impressed! You are fearless for sure. A six unit lash up … at speed! Tremendously enjoyable to watch . Out of the same catalog I have both MRL Engines on order. I have modeled my favorite railroad Montana Rail Link and have built my rendition of it. Love your long straightaways to watch those baby’s really run.
Thank you! I was watching those engines closely when they were lashed up and flying around the track, haha! Was waiting for one to stall or fly off but they all behaved. Enjoy those MRL engines when they arrive!
Very cool! Love seeing those HU’s in action! Keep up the Amazing work!
Fun fact:
Us Railfans calls those locomotives “ACE’S” or just “ACE” like the playing card.
Hey, Chris, I've been a fan of your channel for a while, and I wonder, 1. How do you remember all the names of different locomotives you have? 2. Where do you store all your rolling stock?
I'll stick to my Overland brass units. They would've looked even better with the PTC antennas actually painted, wonder why Lionel skipped that feature.
Great video (and layout)!!! My primary road name is the Alaska RR (ha, ha, I live in North Pole, AK)! However, my secondary road name is the Katy (Texas Special). Unfortunately, my choice is based on my opinion for color schemes and for me the Rio Grande wins hands down!!! Great job Chris and keep up the good work!!!
Very cool video!! I personally like the MO-PAC unit! Thanks for sharing!!
I would say "yew lucky sucka" but I know you work hard at what you do and yer channel is growing and you you deserve it... having said that I gotta say"yew lucky sucka"... love yer videos, keep posting. Do you run any Norfolk Southern locomotives?
Wow , beautifull locomotives , are they geared on all axles ?
Did you ever got the LIONEL caboose with the video camera in the cupola they made a long while ago ?
Awesome. Also noticed that Eric’s Challenger is back again from Georgia on your layout 😂
I have seen UP 1988 on the NS Reading Line on 6/3/23! Thats 1/6 down
Hi. Is Train World’s stuff new? Like not used? Interested in ordering from them possibly
Great video Chris, the trains look nice. I don’t know the correct way to say it, but I say each letter and not the word ace.
Christmas at RPT
You kinda forgot one engine 2010 the Boy Scouts engine but this video was about railroad not all the engine that are different
Those are so cool!!! Here’s an idea for your next video: how about a bloopers video, or accidents while recording?
I actually wish the two tone blue engine would have the light blue in the back and the dark blue in the front. That's the two tone engine that I mentioned.
Fun fact today the California super still runs under control by Amtrak🚄
Hey Chris all six are my favorites enjoy GOD BLESS ;-)
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I like the Katy and the MoPac but they all look great
🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊🐻🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
Also what happened to UP 4141 President train I think the name is George Bush
I have the Athearns Genesis version of the Western Pacific heritage unit in HO scale.
This is a GREAT video. I had the priveledge of getting to see the Katy and the Mopac close up at St. Louis Union Station a few years ago.
Awesome! I would like to catch The Katy in action sometime. Thanks for watching!
How many freight cars can your engines can pull.
My God watching all Of Your Wonderful! Videos. and You Getting New Engines all of The Time. You Must Be a Millionaire! Or Won A Lottery.. hehe... Beautiful! Just beautiful!
Haha, I wish! Thanks for watching
The Chicago Northwestern is my favorite.
So is that the Katy refered to in the Taj Mahal song "She Caught The Katy" (fetured in the movie The Blues brothers)?
I think the song refers to the days when The Katy hosted passenger trains but maybe the song is talking about a freight hop! Good question!
My Favorite Engine Is The C&NW Engine.
This might be obvious to some, but are their road numbers, the date they were merged into the UP?
They Built the Pyramids with trains. Just took me awhile to see it.
dang it, they forgot the DD40
*(sad DD enjoyer sounds)*
Bro has more money in his bank account then I have in my bank account 😭
@RBPTrains Would love to see a vid on how to get started on O gage collecting/O gage collecting tips for beginners. P.S. Another video suggestion I have is watching your Big Boy, Challenger (Hot Dog), Yellowstone, Norfolk & Western class A, 2-10-10-2 Black Bonnet & (if you have one) a class H8 go around the layout, BIG ARTICULATION!
Great suggestion! For your second suggestion, check out my video from a few weeks ago where I ran all the big steam engines. I made that video right before I got the Class A but it has all the other articulated engines that I have along with the PRR S1 :)
If you don't give thumbs up to this then just stop watching
8:37 THE KATY!
Fireworks by Katy Perry playing
Hahahaha!
Nice Gundam robot on your layout Chris, who built it
Katy boy! Concur. MOPAC looks really good. I do not share your genetic propensity for KATY love. I am disposed to SOPAC Black Widow. Used to see them as a kid. Woops, still am a kid, just like you KATY boy.
Seriously, your mix of history, info, passion and goofiness combines these elements into an outstanding video. Super appreciate the work you put into these videos. Maybe see you at York in a few.
Haha! Had a good laugh when I read "KATY love". I should be at York on Friday so maybe I will see ya there
I really like the Chicago northwestern one and the rio grande
Train ❤
Hey RBP! I know I mentioned it back in your last q&a but just wanted to say again keep up the great content! Followed on insta too!
Thank you Patrick! Appreciate you!
1:48 what are those yellow, silver topped train cars?
I just got my pre ordered Katy the other day can't wait to get it in rail!
I just watched this on my big screen TV; Amazing show ! My love is the thunder of diesels vs chuff chuff; Your welcomed to come to Katy Country any time; can show you around. Happy Trails from Katy Country and Katy Carl
Thanks Carl! You are right about the sound. The six of these were LOUD in the train room!
Strong like an elephant Chris! Did you see what I said in the triplex video what I did for my spring break that Mr. Lionel is the nickname of long time Lionel employee Lenny Dean? Imagine your family was featured in a future production by TM Books and Video! That's right!
Would be awesome to be on a TM special. I spoke with Tom and Jeff some time ago. Gotta revisit that plan :)
Beautiful movie Chris,I wish you on Happy Easter in Peace Happiness, And good health,I have another message on instagram you havent`t responded yet Greeting Henk Belgium Border😀😉❤🐇
Thanks Henk and Happy Easter to you! I will have to check Instagram.
Well Chris What will be your next Engine.
