Those Ford Cars were used at the Ford Rouge Complex to move coal for the Powerhouse There. Ford had their own factory railroad and Henry Ford Personally Owned The DT&I for a few years. I work at the rouge for ford and have seen one of those cars before it was sent to the Henry ford museum.

You should do a double heading video with the DD35A and the DDA40X and as many freight cars as you can.

Great unboxing. I had the same problems with the Ford cars. One actually came from Atlas with some of the center braces broken. My calls to Atlas service for repair, replacement (at the time Atlas still had them in stock or replacement parts went unanswered. Still love their products though. I run my hoppers behind my MTH DT&I 2-10-0 just like in some of the films taken by Ford's Movie crews when he owned the railroad.
Will you be reviewing the Lionel Golden Spike locomotives when the come out. I was told that they were scheduled to arrive at Lionel yesterday. Thank you and keep the videos coming. They are always great.

My Atlas Louisiana Hot Sauce tank car arrived yesterday. Yes, always exciting to get something in the mail from Atlas. The Master Series cars should be taken out of the box, placed on the layout, and never touched again. If you have to play with the car, get the Trainman Series, MTH Premier, or Lionel Standard O.
Nice rolling stock there, the only down fall to the box car is the doors do not open and with the hopper cars, do you use a magnetic to open the bottom doors when you are doing a coal dump
Doctor Death. No they’re just manually operated. Atlas usually has opening hatches on the cars but I think they leave the opening doors off because doing so would compromise the fine details around the door.
@@Ericstrains I don't see how it would affect any of the detail even with having an operating door at all I think it would be better and would enhance it further and detail

I never knew Ford ever had any hoppers in use with their name on them.
I have a question. If someone were to make a “Three Link” UP 9000 class, would you review it for its uniqueness? Or pass because of owning a 9000 already.
The three link 9000s were modifications that made the right hand gear have two links so it controls the outer and inner cylinder, and the equipment on the smokebox is moved to the left side of the loco

So you pay all that money for an Atlas boxcar with good detail but no opening doors?? That's sad.
I believe that Atlas opts to not have opening doors because doing so would compromise some of the fine door details and therefore compromise the realism of the model. They do, however, typically have opening hatches.
@@Ericstrains When you rotated the boxcar the door looks to be a separate piece placed within the door channels. If so then Atlas glued it in place probably due to it being fragile. Thanks for the informative review.
