Anything bigger you would need a ticket to ride .
haha, yep.
That’s a fun game
👍 “ticket to ride “
Like the Santa Fe 2-10-10-2 it is a VERY LONG LOCOMOTIVE. THE TENDER IS AS BIG AS A DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE. THE LOCO ITSELF IS LONGER THAN THE PENNSYLVANIA DUPLEX
I agree and why would you need anything bigger then this
😂
What's with the unbelievable GAP between the engine and tender? I guess the fireman might need to learn how to POLE VAULT ❗🤣
I agree , beautiful loco but that would bother me
It’s an oil burner, no shoveling coal- in fact the coal burning Big Boy was an automatic coal feeder- no human could keep up with the fuel demands this engine has
@@fj9460-lr that's not the point...the gap between engine and tender is EXTREME!
I see what you mean, having seen 4014 in person I can agree with your assessment
I never got into trains much I mostly fly RC Helicopters and Airplanes, but I must say the craftmanship on that engine is remarkable 👍
I’m also an RC flyer, but completely agree with your statement. Scale planes and helis don’t compare at all with the detail of scale trains.
yes they do@@Mark-Dibble

I always loved G scale. If I ever came into a ton of money I'd probably build a garden railroad like my dad and I did when I was a kid. That is a beautiful model.
G Scale 1/22.5 (narrow gauge) and 1 Scale 1/32 (standard gauge) both run on the same gauge of track. G scale and 1 scale are not the same. Cheers!
That is one HUGE train engine! And $2,000 is a lot of money. But it is well worth all of that money. The sounds, the colors, all of the auxiliary lights and the details to all of this can easily be worth that. Great purchase on your par! Have fun getting it running on your tracks.
I didn’t enjoy larger scales as much as I do now after so many review videos and a Lionel collection channel. The sounds are soooo good and the power
This is so cool, I witnessed this passing through my own back yard literally. I have a short video of it on my channel. Huge fan of trains and have a few myself. Great demo beautiful set.
Beautiful Locomotive! Thank you for sharing this information about the Big Boy Union Pacific 4-8-8-4. I like how you go in detail and the things the big boy does. When you get your garden done with the track layout please share when you get the big boy up and running.
In awe of the size of this lad. Absolute Unit.
A truly worthy replica of the Big Boy!
Interesting how the electrical pickups were done.
"if we can get this train up to 88 mph Marty, it will be enough to start the flux capacitator, thus sending u back to 1985" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
To erase the past so you have no future smart idea 😂
First run MTH Bigboy came in a wood box . Runs alot better on the Piko R5 curve. Had the Passenger cars on Pre-order with MTH on the first run but they canceled them.
That is definitely a BIG BOY!!! Lol
lol
A shiny boy too
I’d like to get one for myself, but I don’t have $2.5K to spend
That’s why I stick with the smaller (and more affordable) HO & N Scales
This is great and all but the Ho scale one had whistle steam, so I expected whistle steam I'm taking 5 points
I cannot believe I spent 6 minutes watching some guy unbox a toy train
I don’t think it’s considered a toy
These are scale models
@@LS_trains still no excuse
This dude just plays with them he ain't building anything around it as all of them are way to spread out on time periods.
It's not just a train 😢 it's a big boy
I went in big for "G" scale. Then "MTH" impressed me. I fell in love with MTH's 4005 Big Boy. It ran so beautiful. When I seen MTH was bring out the 4014. I pre-ordered it. I have very high hopes. Finally it arrived. It was in a wooden container. Not like the 4005 and shown here. The engine and tender was screw fastened to the bottom. But there was NO instruction showing that. I was frustrated attempting to remove ether item from the crate. Finally I found the retaining screws. After removing the first screw from the engine. The other 3 became more difficult. the drop of the engine put cross pressure on the screws. Finally i removed the screws. Bang the engine dropped. Then I found the engine had parts ( I do not remember how many long time ago) to assemble. Tender came out OK. I placed the engine and tender on my test track. instructions show placing and pushing up on the draw bar on to the tender. NO MORE information. Then I looked and looked for the connecting cable tender to engine. NONE. I called MTH, phone tag to right person. She told me about the connector plug on the draw bar. Very difficult to get it into the receptacle. You can not see where it is going. All by touch and feel. I even turned both upside down. Now I knew what to do. I had it. But when I turned it right side up. The plug came apart. A total pain to get it in correctly. I kept swearing, Why did they change a good thing. 4005 very easy to connect. Now I applied power from MTH module and hand controller. NOTHING, DEAD. Called MTH again. Check to make sure the connector was properly connected. YEA very easy to do. many attempts to connect. Each time I felt the click I was told the connectors made with seated. Still NO go.
I called MTH. I was told to return to MTH on the East Coast office. I had to disassemble engine and secure it int he ORIGINAL container. I also had to pay about $75.00 shipping. About 5 months later. I got a call. My engine was ready. I talked the lady about the problem. Bad connector. She asked about shipping. For some reason I asked from where. St Joe Michigan 10 miles from my house. I drove to the shop. We tested the engine. AOK. I brought it home. Not in the original container. They placed it into a container like the 4005 came in and shown in video.
I placed it on my layout. Made sure the plug snapped into the receptacle. The engine ran. Finally. NO it did not make it 1/4 way around my 20 ft loop. The plug disconnected. it happened again and again and again. I called the repair shop. back to the shop. it failed. A month passed by. Engine ready. TOK. Home again. Failed after 3 loops. same problem. disconnects. They needed to look into the problem.
I received a call from the shop. he said I needed to drill a small hole in the tender pin. After I connected the connectors. I would use a pin through the hole to lock the connectors in place. I flew my cool. The engine NEVER ran again.
Really insane detail on this big boyo, but around $2000? I hope it can pull my ass around the tracks
Tender looks to be a long way from the cab. Surprising it doesn't have steam coming from cylinders when it starts off. One of my European HO scale steam locos does that, and chugging smoketoo of course. It also has close coupling between the loco and tender which increases the gap on curves then closes up on the straight.
What train is it?
@@049withagun7 REE Modeles MB-012 S. 231 PLM.
You took the word's right out of my mouth.... Beautiful looking loco, but I agree... The tender seems to be a bit far from the cab.... I would of thought that there should be a plate between the tender and the locomotive...
Does the smoke liquid need to be continuously full? What would the consequences be if it dries up on a mainline run that's inaccessible on a layout? Can one shut off the glow plug that causes the oil to burn so it doesn't damage the burning element?
Good Heavens.... just good heavens. Not as impressive as this but my second hand Rivarossi HO (bought with my first months pay) 30 years ago is one of my prized possesion.
Wenn jemand zu dämlich zum auspacken ist, sollte er sein Hobby wechseln und lieber Pullover Stricken, 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
It’s cool and all, but I can BEGIN to imagine the price tag on the Big Boy
Amazing,Great Big brother, looking like GOD FATHER LOCOMOTIVE..Being a steam man, from INDIAN RAILWAYS. Retired as SENIOR SECTION ENGINEER FROM DIESEL/ELECTRIC/ELECTRIC/LOCO/SHED%/K.R.PURAM BANGALORE INDIA.i am so proud of BIG BOY Each & every raiwaymen should keep BIG BOY 4014 working model in there homes. Steam locos are our fore father's, we the raiway men should encourage and give brief lesson notes to up coming generation's so that ,BLACK BEAUTIES LEGACY WILL REMAIN FLYING COLOURS FOR EVER..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
tender gap is way too big
They made it that way to accommodate tighter curves I believe.
Did MTH get the weak main-frame problems sorted out? A friend has one that both frames were broken, and parts are NOT AVAILABLE!
Это не модель!!! Это произведение искусства!!! Шикарный локомотив!
Too shiny, and the connecting rods look like cheap Lego. Superman able to leap from tender to locomotive in a single bound!!
I am so very sad, I can barely watch this... My favourite MTH trains are no more...
G scale is not One Gauge!
Wait, who said that? 😂
Wow thanks for posting this as I also know Hornby Model Railways have also released their version of Big Boy recently on OO Gauge" She sure is a beautiful Locomotive that's for sure ❤️ 🚂
Is there a little Ed Dickins in the cab ?
Nice looking, but the huge gap between engine and tender really spoils the effect, makes it look very toy like.....
The smoke is much better than their HO scale!
At least MTH smoke is 10x better than BLI’s simulated smoke pellet smoke.
The spacing between the tender and cab seems excessive. Seems like there should be a deck plate extension to cover that gap.
Nice, The USAT Bigboy is a beast to carry. Easy to convert to Battery, took me longer to turn it over. than clip the two brown feed wires.
what a monster looks and sounds amazing !!!!!! 👌🏻
Mother of god that thing is gigantic
Too good - can’t wait for the G scale layout to run this beast.
Linda minha preferida! like desde Brasil - Votorantim - São Paulo
I saw a big boy in Riverside. Massive and amazing piece of machinery. I saw the one that was on display in Pasadena. They shipped it to Riverside and it was on display for a week before they shipped it on to Cheyenne Wyoming to be completely restored. That was seven years ago or so. It’s finished and is touring the country
1:32 is not "G Scale". That's either 1:22.5 or is it 1:29 or is it 1: 18 orrrr.....
The agreed to definition of "1:32 Scale" is: GAUGE 1..... PERIOD.
and as always, the exhaust sounds have no relationship what so ever to the pistons.
WHY CAN THEY NOT GET SUCH A SIMPLE THING RIGHT?????
Being American I understand your need to be "over the top"......I see your test track ,BUT WHERE is your layout for pleasant running, lets eee it ?
I thank the lord I went with HO scale every time I see you lift this thing
Me Too! Wow it’s nice but don’t have the Room or Money for G or O gauge. Nice Locomotive!
I bought a used G scale MTH big boy, works great but the bell rings every 10 seconds, can’t figure out how to shut it off, after 5 minutes I can’t take it anymore and have to shut it off! Bought used so no paperwork came with it, any one know how to stop bell ringing?
im a lionel kid lol.....but i got a few rail king cars....not any engines.......i love the size of her the......i have o gauge stuff my self but the size of Gare wonderful.....chefs kiss+60
Shifts stiff, here's your range, welcome to shoveling coal bix medusa ultraground sog foot fltey rail unstucker. But dont get confused! Dont get tonka brocc stain.
Wow, awesome video of your model of this incredible & colossal Union Pacific Big Boy 👍👍
Looks like the engine is going to loose a lot of crew members, with that giant gap between the cab and the tender. I hope that is adjustable
Yep. The gap is way too big.
Yeah it is, you can buy different sized drawbars
Wow!
Wow, I stick to N gauge trains, and they're pricey enough. These locomotives must be enormously pricey.
I love "G" Scale, my favorite scale, that is a Gorgeous Train!!!!
Awesome locomotive man!! That is one big boy!
I have to say for a G-scale model, that is a very cheap looking loco. Not surpirsed it came from MTH.
Nice engine but a bit too shiny for me. I’ll agree with the other commentators about the huge gap between locomotive and tender. I’m sure you can tackle that little issue though.
What DCC system is used? I want to buy a USA trains FEF g scale and want to convert it to DCC.
That’s a massive gap between loco and tender. It’s a lovely model, but I’d have expected it to be much more close-coupled.
What happened to G scale MTH products? seems they are all sold out everywhere i look or nobody has them but they seem to be the best option for the money since they have all DCC options included unlike many other manufacturers which still go with DC only out of the box.
The real one is very impressive. The size of that beast should be a wonder of the world to see.
Man that’s sweet, I’ve always wanted one like that, if I had one I’d set it up downstairs run from room to room around the house up the stairs around up there. I know hat your thinking, we have a two car garage I’ll move the wife out there.😂😂😂😂😂
Some rich old nerds can afford this let alone have room enough for such a layout JUNK
Lopez Ronald Lewis Angela Smith Barbara
WOW! A huge piece & I guess a lot of space required for a layout right?
At what point does it stop being a model and become literally just a train?
Is that burlap wet smelling still or complex nero ntk? Or a mushroom equestrian bud?
This guy scared me he’s a bit fast and clutzy with a $6,000.00 toy.
Wow you are going into g scale now. Do you own any o scale? I have o and ho scale. No space for g scale since I live in NYC. Enjoy it. That train is beautiful.
Hey James , if your car ever gets stuck in the ditch , you could use that BEAST to pull it out !!!!!!!!
haha!
Martin Barbara Hall Jessica Rodriguez Larry
Is there a way to have the sounds from the engine go through a good sound system. That in multi channel sound with a few thousand watts of subwoofers would be awesome.
Was hoping it was actually steam driven, given it's size.
Gonzalez Margaret Lopez Michael Walker Anna
Why doesn’t the manufacturer make a steam engine emulator based on an electric motor and place it in the right place?
bought one MTH, very poor paint finish but it was a diesel...
Beautiful train but the announcements are absolutely horrible.
THAT is one heck of a machine!
かわいい jiwii2000さんの息子さんに会いたいです‼
They need an SVS mini sub hooked to the sound system and that would sound real.
You could donate this engine to me would look good on ly layout with my USA Bigboy
What workstation were you using with the Big Boy O scale?
G scale are always Plastic how much does that thing weight ???
A nice and big Engine 🚂👍👍👍.
In Europe we have the German Railway Steam Engine BR 50. Made by Piko, manufaktury in China. This Engine is smaler and I must pay 1200 US Dollar! Also by Sound & Steam. You have a bigger part for 3/4 Money! Cool 😍👍👍👍
Sometimes I get so tired of u tubers that think I want to watch them unboxing some thing
Need a voice recording of Ed Dickens on the megaphone telling everyone to step back from the steam engine. Since he had to do it at every stop in my area in 2019.
How to buy this train setup? I'm from India.
See the Big Boy on my channel, I recorded the real one. 😂
hey i am from india where can i buy it? will it be shipped to india?
Seems kinda ridiculous. I will never understand people's obsession with ridiculously large locomotives. Unless you are a billionaire and have a home with a 4000-6000 sf basement, Have an empty 5- 10,000 sf metal pole building, or 100,000's of thousands of dollars a nd 20 acre estate to buiokd an outdoor G-scake layout.......what's the point. Otherwise i's a very expensive bookshelf showpiece.
I didn’t enjoy larger scales as much as I do now after so many review videos and a Lionel collection channel. The sounds are soooo good and the power
The distance between the tender and cab is throwing me off tbh, it's too big
That can run outside all weather no problem?
So does this use 1:29 or 1:32 scale ?
The most common scale used for one gauge around the world, for standard gauge prototypes, is 1:32.
Gauge one being 1.75 inches by 32 scales out at 56 inches , so very close to standard gauge
1.75 by 29 gives 50.75 inches, so 5.75 scale inches less than standard gauge.
Weird that US toy influenced makers went with 1:29. Equivalent to HO going with 1:78 instead of 1:87. Would be lots of complaints about 1:78 HO models.
Hear some weird reasons why 1:29 does not matter.
heavy girl......carful on your shoulders
That’s one badass big ass beautiful local motive ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
You can ring my bell 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I must admit I panicked a bit on your behalf when I saw the package arrive on its end!
How big (length & weight) is that model? There's nothing to scale it from that I saw in the video.
I ask because I have just built a live steam 2-8-2 Mikado type in Gauge 1 scale that is 720mm (28 inches) weighing 7.8 kg (17 pounds US) and want to compare them.
open the other end of the box and push the packing out.
