Every person's body and health history is unique and Drs. have conflicting opinions on research. My husband has a fib and decreased his omega dose. Read Omega 3 Fatty Acid Biomarkers and Incident Atrial Fibrillation in Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Note that most omega-3 come in Ethyl Esther (EE) form and have poor absorption as they need to be consumed with high fat meal. Look for Omega-3 in Triglyceride form. For the dose the best thing is to calibrate with the Omega3 index aiming for 8-12% as Peter Attia does. Also look for brands that are 3rd party certified.
One has to be a biochemist or nutritionist to survive today. No need for all of this: Just eat sardines! You will get enough EPA/DHA in the right ratios!

This is a fantastic video however it would be muuch more useful, in my personal opinion, if you could make a comparison between taking Fish Oil supplements vs *eating fish*. How much EPA/DHA do we get from eating cooked fresh fist of variousd forms, vs raw fish (shushi and sashimi) vs canned fish. Many people, myself included, do consume a lot fo fish regularly so how does 100g of eating various forms of fish compare to supplements.. Does farmed fish vs. ocean caught make a difference? Can one get "too much" EPA/DHA if eating fresh fish weekly and taking fish oil supplements? Has any significant research been done on this? Great video btw
Raw will be the best all things considered. You always loose nutrients in the cooking process, and processed foods [canned] will always have additives. Farmed vs wild of course matters as farmed will have a less diverse diet and higher mercury content. There is concern with too high of consumption but it's easier to do that with supplementation [I assume]. I'd say stick to 2g or less fish oil a day with supps.
What about UK brand Seven Seas Bottled Liquid form Omega 3 Fish Oil plus Cod Liver Oil Max Strength. It recommends to take 10 ML daily which provides EPA 955 mg, DHA 825 mg, Vit D 5 mcg and Vitamin E 10 mg. It says to store in a cool place and to consume within 2 months of opening the bottle. Thank you in advance for any replies.
After listening about all of David Sinclair's cons about his businesses and the millions he made, i’d be inclined to never ever quote him or use him as a source.
Many fish oil caps are rancid and you won't know which ones are. What chemicals do they add to the bottles to keep it fresh? How long do these all sit on the warehouse shelves of the manufacturer?
My question is, does the amount of omega 6 we eat affect how our bodies use EPA/DHA and is it therefore wise to limit omega 6 in our diet or does it not matter? Thanks for the video!
High levels of omega 6 are thought to lower the conversion of ALA to EPA and DHA. I have heard of no reason why omega 6 would interfere with the body's use of EPA/DHA. What I do is consume high level of ALA vs others fats for breakfast and lunch (flax and chia) so that I might get good conversion to EPA/DHA. For dinner I eat foods higher in MUFA like almonds and higher in omega 6 like tofu and walnuts. I then have a EPA/DHA supplement with dinner. I also prefer a supplement which is higher in DHA because DHA is more import for the brain and central nervous system than EPA. Note: Walnuts have a ratio of 4:1 for omega-6 to omega-3, so I don't consider it an optimal source for ALA.
@@jakubchrobry3701 Thanks - I thought I hear somewhere that Omega 6's and 3's compete somehow. I can't eat most nuts or seeds due to tyramine being a migraine trigger, but I do use certain nut oils.
It's all about the ratio. Higher omega 6 consumption will demand higher omega 3 consumption. So, ideally, you want to lower omega 6 consumption as it's almost too high in a Western diet.
Fish get their omega-3 from algae. Algae (which I take) has a lot more DHA (good for the brain) and fish oil has more EPA and considered better at reducing inflammation. I don't trust fish oil for being rancid and being contaminated with mercury and other contaminates.
Is there a max to how much overall omega 3 I should be getting per day? Its hard to find a suppliment where you're not getting well over 5g daily omega-3 and still hitting 2g daily EPA.

Be careful about dosing. Excessive Omega-3 is associated with atrial fibrillation.

that is true why i lowered my does 2 to 4 grams is to much

what about a spoonful of cod oil daily along with a spoonful of olive oil as well??
I am cooking with 100% Grass Fed BEEF TALLOW. and I haven't been to a Big Pharma doctor for 8 years 😊

Do you know how nasty cod liver oil tastes? I will take my sardines and become the sardines queen.
I eat sardines in a salad 3-4 times a week.
This video was fantastic - finally I understand and how to manage fish oils! thankyou
Just eat oysters and mackeral on a regular basis, plus raw egg yolks. You’ll be fine.
Do I need to take Omega 3 fish oil if I'm already taking astaxanthin?

Really good info. I love the Carlson’s brand.

what about taking spoonful of liquid cod oil a day, does that count
Clicked on this out of curiosity and unfortunately I can't take fish oil. It makes my heart feel very strange
I use Carlson and keep it refrigerated. Says on the bottle it's good for 90 days after opening (assuming if it's refrigerated).

Independent testing, I will know which ones…amateur.
I purchase directly from manufacturer. That lets me know it hasn’t spent forever in the supply chain to the store. And I refrigerate it immediately.
In glass bottle it is vacuum sealed, the plastic bottles don't have such seal. Carlson brand they mentioned is horrible, always rancid.
@@suzannecase6170 No one knows How long these all sit on the warehouse shelves of the manufacturer though.

Good stuff, thanks. 👍🏾
Fortunately I get mine from fish. I eat fish every day. Salmon 5 days a week. Sardines most days.
I’m afraid if I follow Andrew Huberman’s advice on everything I’ll start wearing only black clothes.

Well, there are some experts who say supplements do nothing, who to believe?
those pharma boys?
So, now I need to eat 10 capsules of omega 3? Like €200 a month?
lol no. 2g or less a day as a supp. It's pretty cheap. Mine is less than $30 a month.

Is the omega 3 from sea algae just as effective as fish oil
Its actually much better.. most fish oil is in your cupboard, rotten af... if you smell fishy burps, thats a sign.. MOST of the fish oil is garbage
No, your brain is flesh, the best source is just omega 3 from another flesh (fish).

Where do you think the fish get their omegas from?
Cod liver oil is fine 😊
what about omega3 from plants
What do you think about these brands? Dropi and Rosita ?

got nothing out of this
Walnuts and CHIA seeds and fish...natural sources...better overall absorption.
Why not just eat some wild caught salmon daily to get the omega-3 needed?
Please address new suggestions to take Triglyceride form of Omega 3. I am not sure this is a valuable video without addressing that.
Just eat at least once a week fish.
Krill oil.
