NEW DS Back in Time to 1795 - The Vampire Curse

- We see exactly what happened to Barnabas that turned him into one of the living dead. Angelique realizes that the curse was a mistake and tries to keep Barnabas alive.
Josettes connection to Barnabas is much closer than she realizes. Shortly after he is bit by the bat she touches the left side of her neck and has the same identical marks.
For me, it was the echo of Barnabas' hollering after the fade to black and right before the opening title that sealed it for me, sounding like a scream that stretches over the centuries.
I vividly remember watching DS episode 405 back when it originally aired, I was in 4th grade that year 1967/68. This most famous episode (imo) aired on a friday, January 12th. Caught it after school naturally, about 3:30 or 4pm CST. The Suspense was Completely Gripping as the follow-up episode 406 on Monday January 15th delivered the Satisfyingly Creepy continuation of the Origin Story of Barnabas Collins' Vampire Curse. Pop Culture's First ever "Sympathetic Vampire," you were Afraid of Him, but he also possessed many character traits that you admired; and you Felt a certain Respect and Pity and Horror for/of him simultaneously...! Underneath it all, you secretly Rooted for Barnabas Collins ... ! ~🖤~ ...
Very interesting. I was also in the 4th grade then. In the Central Time Zone, the show aired at 3, while in the other Time Zones, it was on at 4.

Really like that DS Took viewers back to see exactly what made Barnabbas a Vampire and how Angelique Cursed him . Also How Josette Collins played into the story . Bravo for taking us back to 1795. ❤😊

Of course, I don't have her powers lol ...
Laura Collins pointed that out to her in the 1896 story line. That turned both villainesses into implacable enemies.
@@nassauguy48Those were indeed great scenes. Watching Angelique and Laura Collins having their fights. Laura seemed uptight while Angelique had a calmer attitude with a smile.
@@nassauguy48 I loved how Laura pointed out to Angelique that she might be succeeding as a whatever-she-is (witch) but she was failing as a woman mooning over a man (Barnabas) who did not love her.
As evil as Laura is, she did make a good point.

Josette knows something is wrong with Barnabas. I am puzzled about the blood appearing on her neck though.
Good old Ben shows up to take care of his master. Ben was always such a devoted servant, it's unfortunate that Joshua treated him as awfully as he did.
Ben underestimates Angelique too. Since she's a witch, he should know better than anyone she very likely will not be that easy to kill.
What's to be puzzled about? They Love each other despite Angelique running interference with her incantations and spells. If Joshua had dogs they would've been treated better than Ben.
@@bruce8808It's never made clear what made Josette's neck started bleeding.
Was it Angelique? She was shot and wounded seriously at the time to be able to cast another spell on Josette so soon.
I know she made the bat appear, but that was after she had cursed Barnabas. She made no such incantation towards Josette since he was the one who incured her wrath at the time.
Joshua will change towards Ben when he helps him with Barnabas.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tlThe marks on Josettes neck is connected with Angeliques curse. She told Barnabas he can have Josette but not in the way that he would have her. Anyone that loves Barnabas will die as a result of the curse. Poor Barnabas looked bewildered and confused over the curse that Angelique was reciting to him before she passed out.
