NEW DS Back in Time to 1795 - Barnabas Is Very Ill
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лип 2024
- Angelique continues to try to help Barnabas survive the bat's attack. Angelique tells Naomi that Barnabas is out of town. She refuses Naomi's invitation to stay at Collinwood. Barnabas hears his mother's voice and tries to get to her. Ben takes care of Barnabas.
The actor that plays Ben is utterly convincing
Thayer David was such a good actor! I love the way he portrayed Ben Stokes! John Frid was so good at being a sick, delirious man. I actually feel sorry for him, and hope he doesn't die. However, he did become a vampire, and he played that part very well, too! That's why Dark Shadows was so popular. All the actors and actresses were so wonderful! Thanks for sharing this! ~Janet in Canada 🧛♀
You are very welcome, Janet.
Angelique at this point in the storyline only has the knowledge of casting curses and spells and no idea on how to lift them.
Add to that she bits the hands of who feed her always
One has to wonder when exactly she acquired the knowledge to undo her curses.
She was able to remove the curse from him in 1840.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tlTrue. She was very knowledgeable in the 1840 storyline. In 1897 she safeguarded Barnabas in advance by creating a doppelganger of him before Charity Trask staked him. And he shows up a few episodes later as a mortal free from the curse. I bet others and myself have wondered why she couldn't lift the curse from him during the Leviathan storyline after Jeb Hawkes made him a vampire again. Angelique and Barnabas were allies in present time. Possibly her powers were not as great as the Leviathans. I know Angelique was afraid of them.
@@bruce8808 Maybe Jeb's curse was a bit different than Angelique's. How, I wouldn't know.
@@bruce8808 The 1840 storyline was full of contradictions to previous storylines.
Ben is always so mean and angry at Angelique, when she's just a sweet innocent girl.❤
She enslaved him and treats him like dirt. Why should he respect her?
Angelique sure recuperated quick from that bullet wound lol. Shes helping Barnabas up off the floor and moving her arm all around lol I guess witches heal fast?
We found that interesting as well.
Angelique sticks like gloomy glue in his mind eternity with her thats damnation 🥴
8:55-9:00: Why is Angelique on her hands and knees trying to wipe out that paint stain or fake blood? She probably isn't educated in removing stains with her powers. 😆😆
We never found out what happened to Jeremiah's ghost, if he returned to his grave or not.
Frid's best performance (when he doesn't talk).
You are right we dont have to hear all of his flubs, 😂😅
@@richardmadison6312 That's not fair. Frid admitted that he wasn't a quick study, and doing daytime is quite different than doing theater.
Regardless of his flubs, I think Jonathan was brilliant all through out his time on the show.
I don't think that's fair.
Doing a daytime series has to be more challenging than doing theater. I'm willing to cut Jonathan some slack.
He brought much depth and complexity to the role of Barnabas that I feel his flubs are forgivable.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tlYou know just like the rest of us that Jonathan Frid is an experienced Shakesperian actor. A lot of fans may not be taking into account that 5 episodes per week are being filmed, not one where they have time to yell cut to keep the flubs out. Dan Curtis was a strict tight schedule when D. S. was being filmed in the 60s. He ordered his crew to keep the cameras rolling despite flubs on set and at the time 57 years ago he didn't figure on Dark Shadows coming out later on V.H.S. DVDS Prime T. V. or on these other services that we're blessed with today.

Now that she's not going to die she wants to lift the curse 🙄
She has no clue how selfish she is.
Barnabas is selfish too. He had an affair with Angelique while they were in Martinique. He cast Angelique aside for Josette, he is just like the other men at Collinwood when it comes to women he has no clue.
@@kelpwillhelp6248 Does that really justify her cursing Barnabas as a vampire for eternity?
Or dooming anyone who cares for him to die for loving him?
I don't think so. She went way overboard with her vengeance.
She could have decided he wasn't worth it and moved on to someone else. She didn't. She gets no sympathy from me, especially when I rewatch the death of Sarah and Naomi's suicide, along with Josette falling off from Widows' Hill.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tlNobody deserves any sympathy. No matter if Angelique was getting Barnabas riled up fact remains he pulled out a pistol and shot an unarmed woman. Barnabas doesn't get any sympathy for that.
@@bruce8808 She was threatening the life of his sister...what was he supposed to do? Let her go on hurting Sarah?
I'd have done the same thing he did. Unarmed or not, Angelique was using her ungodly powers to harm an innocent child.
@@BethHarmon-uv7tlI will agree that Barnabas had to find ways to deal with Angelique and Sarah is a innocent victim. Angelique is even more wrong in lying to Naomi about Barnabas being in the house and not being fully honest.
Angelique is such a caring and kind wife to barnabas, hes the luckiest guy in the world.
Only he was too much of a fool to realize that after Martinique. Now he has to find out the hard way that payback is a S.O.B.!
@@bruce8808 Well, Angelique is going to discover that pretty soon as well. She ends up being the first victim of her own curse.
I think he would prefer a wife who didn't have the power to curse him or destroy the ones he loves.
Angelique tries to undo the damage that she has done (but only because she knows she can survive the bullet wound), but her 'potion' failed to restore Barnabas' health. I guess her powers do have their limits after all, either that, or her spells and curses are so powerful to the point that any attempt to undo them is futile, even for her.
So now it's Barnabas' fault that she cursed him, because of his 'betrayal'. After everything she's done to him, his sister, his fiancee, his father and his uncle. Gotta love her hypocrisy. Not to mention the fact she threatened Sarah's life (again), that was the straw that broke the camel's back for him.
Josette knows Barnabas is in danger and resolves to return to Collinwood.
Angelique dodges Naomi's questions and efforts to get her to stay at the newly built Collinwood until Barnabas 'returns'. Meanwhile, a sick-ridden Barnabas gets out of his bad and just misses his mother hearing him call her.
SHE SET THE CURSE ON HIM OUT OF ANGER AND THEN TRIED TO REMOVE IT. ACTIONS OUT OF ANGER CARRIES A HIGH PRICE.
